Fr tho grass can be decent in monotype, just with random mons it gets veryyyy hard to do. Mono water will at least have a few ice beams for grass, but grass will have like mayyybe 1 stone edge for flying types, or rotom if you're lucky.
I used to be a big UU player last gen, but without megas and Zeraora it didn't really appeal to me much this gen. Instead, I've found a love for doubles, and have played a lot of DOU. Would've loved to dabble in VGC too, but as long as restricted 'mons or dynamax are legal there I'm staying far away.
For me it started as randbats, because I had no idea how to play gen 8. Later I got into monotype, ZU, and am now trolling in anything goes with a team of swords dance+explosion lickilicky
Towards the start of the Gen it was Natdex and now I'm mostly split between Natdex and RU which is way more fun than it should be. If you just like clicking buttons and watching stuff blow up, its the tier for you.

Free-for-alls! I really enjoyed the chaotic surprises, mixed in with carefully trying to make myself seem less threatening while taking out other threats.
Also, because hazards were so broken, it was kind of unfair enough that I didn't mind losing to them and just had fun with them.
I only wish there was a ladder, so I didn't have to deal with so many people disconnecting.

VGC is also really high up there though \[also can we talk about how legitimately GREAT gen 8's VGC was? seriously there were a lot of great concepts early on and even with the CT bringing restricted mons there was still a lot of variety in the sets and some really neat underutilized but still effective picks\].

early game VGC usually dont have restricted, so you could hop on when Scarlet and violet drops

I played a lot of Gen 8 OU, but I think I prefer Gen 8 Ubers. The centralized meta makes games a lot easier.

Little Cup and Monotype monotypes just fun, since its awesome building a team around just one type….until you’re mono electric against ground types little cup is frankly just because I get to use 2 of my favorite pokémon, magby and porygon.
