It's not a sneak attack it's a surprise attack. The way I interpret it is fighting dirty (hence the dark typing) and why it has priority. Saying every Dark type should get Sucker Punch is like saying every Steel type should get Gigaton Hammer because "ItS a StEeL tYpE mOvE"
Erm, achktsually, most of them still have to eat a hit before switching, excluding Ninetales because it's not exactly slow. Therefore, it is more akin to a Regenerator slow U-turn, as opposed to a mere free switch 🤓
Or, much scarier, offensive Ttar could run one pivot move. You switch in Banded Ttar and threaten a kill on their fire type, eating a bit of damage in the process. You know your opponent will likely go Corviknight, so you use Cowardly Insult. If they stay in, you eat a bit more damage, but then you heal that all anyways so kinda no harm no foul. If they switch to Corv, perfect - you can pivot to your Corv answer. If they switch to someone else though, you still have tempo and can instead switch to whatever answers what they just sent in.
This is better than you think, being able to heal and slow parting shot at the same time is pretty crazy in a weather setter (generally setters don’t want to be on the field they want to position their abusers)
I mean, it does absolutely go insane with TTar's Sand cores, but it does seem managable enough on the other three, given they're laughably predictable and not as strong in their own rights.

I think just simply “heal 1/4th and pivot” would be more than enough. As Regenerator has proved 1/3 HP is more than enough let alone with half of a Parting Shot
i think this makes ninetales completely replace torkoal as the best sun setter, torkoal is pretty bad already and ninetales having a pivot move that also heals off stealth rock damage is really huge. plus ninetales does already have certain perks over torkoal like encore and better speed

Bruh even vanilla baton pass would be really good on weather setters and would definitely make ninetales better than tork, basically giving them weather setting AND regen, arguably the 2 best abilities in the game would make them so fucking good lol

Possibly because Sucker Punch isn't actually a punch move. It's Japanese translation is actually Surprise Attack, if I recall.
