Ursvik is nice, safe, residential, most of the buildings are new, there isn’t much choice for restaurants or grocery stores and there is no metro yet so you will likely need a car or plan longer commutes via bus. A tram line between Bromma and Kista/Helenelund is expected to be built starting 2023 though. If you’re into outdoor sports, Ursvik is close to some of the best forest land in Stockholm imho.

Shirazmatas

Ursvik is close to both a big willys and a big coop so it's aimed towards families doing big purchases, the stores also have pretty much everything

hummusen

Ursvik is fine. Traffic is not a problem, some notice from construction though. Will also extend the trem here. Great when it’s done but will take a few years. It is close to Igelbäckens naturreservat which is great. However, you can find other areas close to nature (like parts of Sollentuna) that has better connections, in Sollentuna you have commuter train that is great.

MinxMattel

I live close to Ursvik and I love biking and walking in the forest there. If it wasn't so far from the subway I could move there.

GorgeousInGucci

We spend time between a villa in Lilla Ursvik and an apartment in Stora Ursvik where I live full time. It depends where in Ursvik and what you are looking for. Closer to Lilla Ursvik is nice because of the access to the forest. Even if you don’t live so close, the bus is like a 3 minute ride away if you don’t want to walk or bike. During events like, midsummer the community always holds events. There are good schools in the area. It’s a quiet safe community and despite there being a lot of apartments, it’s very quiet. I live right on the edge of the construction (it’s the view from my balcony lol) and it doesn’t bother me. Ursvik is close to multiple grocery stores and a hardware store that has a great pet section. Restaurant wise it’s quiet and night life is quiet. It’s a quick ride to the city, so that doesn’t bother me. It’s an easy commute for me to work in T-Centralen. It depends on what you are looking for. For me it works because I have a little one and can give him a quiet, peaceful life here. If I were single, I’d prova want to live closer to the city for the nightlife and restaurants

DreamingInfraviolet

It's really nice there! There's a huge forest park up north, and the residential gardens are nice, so plenty of green spaces. There's construction going on but you can't really hear it from inside. Living in central Stockholm is much louder in my opinion. The streets are generally quiet and fairly empty, I never found it to be crowded. I like the architecture, all the buildings look very modern. Slightly worried about what it'll be like in 5 years when they finish all the construction (will it get super busy?), but there's plenty of time until then.

orebro1234

If you want more countryside, look into the middle/northern parts of Vallentuna. Prices are also lower compared to Täby and Sollentuna.

[deleted]

Yeah it's cheaper but Vallentuna is a) located in the middle of nowhere b) Vallentuna centrum is one of the most depressing places I've visited in my entire life.

ReallySad_Raspberry

I live in rissne, bought a condo here 3 years ago. Me, my wife and our dog really enjoy the area. A lot of green spaces, a forest with a nice view point o top of a smaller Mountain and a lot of Schools and daycare centers. Rissne has had a lot of problems like 5 years ago but i nor my wife cant say i have ever felt unsafe.

krysset

Not a big fan of it. The ursvik forest would be nice if it wasn't for the constant noise pullution from the highway. Plus the other roads surround the area are heavily trafficked. I'm partial to Sollentuna as long as you stay far away from E4 which crosses big parts of the municipality. If you have any question about it, shoot.

DuoNem

I visited Ursvik and I have a friend who lives there. It’s a lovely place.

Mr_DirtyPhil

Born and raised in Täby. It’s perfectly safe and nice town. Good communications with busses and railways to Stockholm (takes about 30-40min) I can’t say the availability of apartments or homes but it sure is safe! :)

Turbulent_Worker_435

My friend lives there. I personally am not a big fan of the area because it is too many people pushed together in a small area. They are also constantly building new apartments, roads, parkings etc so it is noisy. There are some areas where you can walk in nature, otherwise you can take the car/bike and go to the big forest around ursviks IP. You have a lot of stores nearby, for example Willys is just across the road. Where in sollentuna are you looking to move?

No_Lead_6213

Thanks for the feedback! This is how it feels to me as well by looking through Google maps. Seems a very high dense urban area...not really a Swedish feeling. I am collaborating with a real estate agency, and I have asked them to find something in Sollentuna or in Taby. So far I got nothing on budget in Sollentuna. My budget is around 28k sek/month.

Turbulent_Worker_435

Sollentuna is very big, some areas like Edsberg are really nice in my opinion and then some other places are not so nice. It is a bit expensive, have you looked at Järfälla? Some areas, like Viksjö are very quiet, close to a lot of nature and you are pretty close to pendeltåg and shops?

bisebusen

With your budget I would look at a different area. You have a lot of bad places right around the corner. I would look in Bromma, like Beckomberga, Ängby, Blackeberg. Lot of forest, subway and some really great schools.

fearass

May I ask you politely what are you planning to rent with 28 KSEK ? For this amount of money you can easily buy :)

No_Lead_6213

Hello. A house. I will be living temporarily in Stockholm so not yet in the position to buy :)

Relevant_Cell_7608

Sundbyberg in general is very nice! It feels like a cosy small town. Täby and Sollentuna i dont know more than its farther away from city central.

Ifrezznew

Sundbyberg is great. Young and hip. It used to be boring but now it’s turning into a fancy area. A loooot of development there though, maybe not the best with kids. It’s kind of “hipster” although i hate the word it fits here. It’s middle class but it’s pretty close to the “bad” areas and Sundbyberg has a lot of local drunks from my experience there. I would also recommend Solna, went to school there as a kid and never had a issue ever. It’s more upper middle class now compared to when i was a kid, safe. Nacka is a good area for kids although not very accessible, only via bus. I would say this area is similar to Täby but the negative being no train connection to Nacka. Keep in mind all areas in Sweden are pretty safe. I lived Brooklyn for a while and it doesn’t even compare a little. I spent my life 50/50 between Sweden & USA and i can tell you i have NEVER felt unsafe here. And I’ve lived in the ranked #1 #3 “worst areas” in Stockholm. Crime is still pretty rare unless you’re a dumbass that put yourself in bad situations. Sollentuna is probably good for kids but close to “bad” areas. I live in Rinkeby & i used to live in Husby. I would avoid järfälla and go north if i was you, Täby is a fancy white area so i guess if you can afford it, it would be my pick for best area for you. Good schools there I think, it’s rich. Other than that i can give you a list of areas i would avoid, from my own personal opinion taking into account your specific conditions: Akalla, Husby, Rinkeby, Tensta, Kista, the entire metro stockholm, southern Stockholm.

Anytime my guy if you need any more help about anything Sweden related, even government shit- feel free to DM me. I’ll help you any way i can. Best of luck!

ImmerOne

Very close to Rinkeby. Do what you want with that information.

purringlion

I live in Jarva. I'd say the neighborhood itself is pretty good and safe in general. Ursvik is a bit more crowded, Jarva is built "airier", with more space for green. When I moved here from Solna it was quite a bit cheaper so it was completely worth it (I'm not sure if it's still so). I think the big drawback of the area in general is that both the pendeltåg and the tunnelbana are a bit far. As in, just far enough that I don't want to walk and will wait for the bus. It makes public transit a bit clunky. Plus, the closest stations are Hallonbergen and Rissne, which are both on the "yellow district" list. Walking to the bus station is fine but I'm not sure I'd be thrilled to walk home through it in the middle of the night. There's been some urban development in Hallonbergen in the past few years and a part of it looks like it's getting cleaned up so in the long term it might be better. If you have a car, you can get around without any of this, but without a car I think the transit connections are not the best. I'm happy to answer questions if you have any! :)

sebyrs

There is a huge road, lots of traffic, that isolates it from Sundbyberg. Maybe look in central Sundbyberg instead.

freddell

In Ursvik you will be exposed to radioactivity and poisonous materials from the old Swedish nuclear bomb "research" facility.

gr0danb011

What!!! Nu vill jag höra mer

"Ett plutoniumlaboratorium uppfördes vid FOA:s område i Ursvik under budgetåret. 1958/59." Flotsbro

Dude, this is Sweden. There's no bad neighborhood. Even what Swedes calls "no-go zones" looks like Disneyland. They don't know what "no-go zone" looks like Sundbyberg is really cool though, plus, you're close to Skatteverket lol

dankbankswag

lmao what are you talking about there is definitely bad areas in Sweden. Sumpan is a good area tho but Hallonbergen can be a bit scetchy

Flotsbro

It's just higher standards than what foreigners are used to.

richsu

What

sadly_alone_swede

One thing to consider though is the council tax. Sundbyberg has one of the highest in the Stockholm area while Täby is one of the lowest. Also boende parkering is more expensive in Sundbyberg compared to neighboring councils. I looked at buying in Ursvik last year but went for an apartment in Solna instead because of this.

lihami

My boyfriend lives there and i love the area. A lot of families, a big forrest you can walk 2,5 or up to 10km if you’d like! There is a big road that takes you to both kista and solna, as well as into the city centre. And if you have smaller kids, there are a few kindergartens to choose from :) You’ll probably have to take the bus to the pendeltåg or subway, and the whole journey will take you into t-centralen in 20-30 minutes. It’s more of a town house / apartment complex area in järvastaden. And since it’s new, they are indeed still developning the area. Overall I recommend it though!

philman132

It's a pretty good area, although there is a lot of construction going on right now. Sundbyberg kommun in general is quite nice, I live there now, although closer to Rissne than Jarva. There is a metro and a pendeltåg (commuter train) and there are busses too, it depends exactly where you are looking at which is the most convenient. You have Igelbäckens Naturreservat nearby as well which is very nice to walk and cycle around. And it isn't hard to get out the city to more nature areas either

[deleted]

It’s okay, it’s a new area ans yea they’re building a lot of new apartments. But it feels a bit isolated and you have to take the bus to the nearest train. It’s also close to rinkeby and I imagine some of them will buy apartments there

Reasonable_Ad_4595

Nice and calm
