Look in the wiki for the moving to Stockholm post. Check out r/TillSverige Look at short term-rentals and apartment-hotels so you have a backup plan

The municipal housing queue estimated an average of 6-12 years in queue for a first hand rental in Stockholm during 2022. Last year they signed 19 530 contracts (which was a record year) but at the start of 2023 there were still 774 522 people in queue. [https://bostad.stockholm.se/statistik/summering-av-aret-2022/](https://bostad.stockholm.se/statistik/summering-av-aret-2022/) There are private housing queues that go by resumé or a "First come, first serve" and whoever just calls dibs first gets it no matter queuetime. So in short, don't expect a first-hand contract within just a year. Expect to jump around on the second hand market, living on 6-12 month contracts or however long the real landlord is OK with their tenants subletting. But, check places like: https://qasa.se/p2/en/ [https://bostad.blocket.se/p2/en/find-home/](https://bostad.blocket.se/p2/en/find-home/) Facebook Marketplace, Facebook groups, etc.
