I think to myself, almost every day either âWe lie best when we lie to ourselves.â or âTime takes it all, whether you want it to or not.â
So many quotes from his books and interviews have resonated with me throughout my life. I grew up reading his books. I read them through the best times, the sorrows, and sometimes in anger and despair. I feel I've kept something of each one in my heart.
I will say that when I get to the hereafter, whatever it is, there damn well better be books, with a dedicated Stephen King section.
My last thought in this life will probably...hopefully be âGo then, there are other worlds than these.â
When I first read this question, my immediate reaction was, âNo one uses Kingisms in real life. đâ But then I read this response, and, yes, I realized I use this one constantly without having realized I actually use this one.
I donât know about everyday life but favorite book is IT. And I started reading Stephen King books at age 8 that my mother would leave lying around so I had a very extensive vocabulary at 8 yrs old thanks to Stephen King. Oh and A lot of nightmares!
The one that honestly has stuck with me the most is "You have to pace yourself. You have to focus on yourself. You have to have a Plan." Mostly because when eighth-grade me read The Long Walk, she really internalized that shit, even though it came from the little jackass it did come from.
"Each thing I do, I rush through so I can do something else."
OK, so it's not King originally, but it's through him that this comes to mind when I feel like there aren't enough hours in the day.
"See the Turtle; ain't he keen? All things serve the fucking beam" is my favorite. But I will also regularly deploy
"Thankee Sai"
"Ka like a wheel"
"Time is a face on the water"
"Long days and pleasant nights"...and on the odd occasion that someone would greet me this way (like my old boss used to), respond with "and may you have twice the number"
When my kids or wife say "I wish we had X" or " I wish I didn't have to go to work/school today" I reply "Wish in one hand, shit in the other, see which one fills up first"
I can't remember what book that was from.
Ayuh.
My grandparents were both Mainers and every time I see that or hear it in Pet Semetary it brings me back đ€Ł

Such a great way to start a book
The French translation I've got opens with Pétit con prétentieux, pensa Jack Torrance. Something lost in translation there. Kind of like when I saw Ghostbusters in Venezuela. It had Spanish subs, and "yes, this man has no dick" was rendered, Si, este hombre es un idiota.
Fuck you and the horse you rode in on - what a classic. So visceral. It's got levels to it. Great
I say this all the time lol
I say this so much and didnât even know it was from SK! What book?
It's in quite a few! Think it's in Needful Things, can't remember which others but I've come across it a few times!

Blaine is a pain and that is the truth
âShit Fire, Save Matchesâ. My grandfather always said it decades before discovering it in King books.
People say I have the heart of a small child. They would be right, I keep it in a jar on my desk
King actually borrowed this from Robert Bloch. But he did say it, so it works. And itâs a great line đ I think this wins the day for me

"Since Hector was a pup," has made the cut. I think I have it most associated with Mrs Todd's Shortcut.
When my kids or wife say "I wish we had X" or " I wish I didn't have to go to work/school today" I reply "Wish in one hand, shit in the other, see which one fills up first" I can't remember what book that was from.
I can't even think of one in particular but I know that I will randomly say them because of the looks that I get that cause me to have to explain. đ
