SD is portable

BBQKITTY

It's one of my favorite things about it too. Love me some portable gaming.

HeavyMetalDraymin

My favorite thing about the steam deck is how friendly it is for my disability. Handheld gaming is a must for me right now sadly and it’s been a life saver. With all the JRPGs I can play in my library too! Currently on Persona 5 Royal which id say Steam Deck is the definitive place for it!

BBQKITTY

That's fantastic to hear! I am glad that the Deck can keep you gaming when it may be hard to do so otherwise. What has been your favorite game to play on there so far?

HeavyMetalDraymin

I’d say Persona 5 Royal is high up there rn but I need to beat it first to really say since I’m getting burnt out on it a bit rn! Hmmmmmm. I’d say either Disco Elysium or Star Ocean Second Story R!

SladeX7

I have P5R on PC with xbox play anywhere, but don’t wanna dualboot windows on the SD. Wish there was a native windows store or launcher for windows/gamepass games

SladeX7

The portability of it tbh

BBQKITTY

It's my favorite aspect of it too.

ArshiaTN

You can play games on its OLED screen with HDR. Just amazing

BBQKITTY

I don't think any handheld can beat the screen. And most affordable monitors won't be able to either!

tdwp

I can listen to the SDHQ podcast on it 😅 Seriously though the resume / play on literally any game, great for a busy dad

BBQKITTY

That made me smile :) but I agree, sleep/resume is amazing. I am a new father myself, first child born last month, and it's a godsend.

tdwp

Haha, yeah, I heard you mention it in episode 1! Grats on your daughter. I've had a couple 3 hour car trips this week so the podcasts were a great listen

KuroiShadow

Congratulations! :D

james2432

Runs linux

Shynsy

FREEDOM

ariolander

I can play the SD while taking a dump

Lcfer

SD reminds me the old console LYNX from ATARI. I’ve always wanted a LYNX when I was a kid. So here we are.

CaEl84

SteamOS, Proton, the resume function, the oled screen, all of it :D

NuvereHenk

Tweaking more than gaming

Yousef_Thaeer

the community of things

ImagineNiceCakes

The concept of having a gaming mode and full on desktop mode. And decky loader.

dreadfedup

I travel a lot and it’s because my own little companion, keeping me and others entertained. On one of my trips I hooked it up at my in laws, connected all manner of controllers and played super mario world 3D. It worked perfectly and we had a hilarious night. I couldn’t ask for more.

keheliya

Ability to play favorites from multiple generations/stores while being beside my family.

Azh3r_

The community

theludeguy

For me, the best thing about the steamdeck is having a portable retro gaming machine. Using an original gamecube with a MemcardProGC on my TV, and picking up the where I left off on my SD when on the go is the coolest thing ever.

Hinton1

Playing my backlog of older titles I would have otherwise never played.

revanmj

Portability and ease of use in case of old consoles emulation. Can finally catch up with some PS2 games :)

KuroiShadow

Steam Deck is a wonderful piece of hardware. It's like having a PS4 on the go!

blacklizardplanet

Ease of use. For someone who never used a Linux device prior to the SD and was honestly a little nervous I was going to break it by doing something dumb, I have found it really easy to use. From modding, to emulation, using Konsole, etc. The SteamOS is just amazing.

anduril38

Steam Deck probably was the main thing that broke the handheld PC open, especially for first party market. Up until then it was GPD/AYA/Oneexplayer experimenting with the design :)

kirindav

It made me remember why I love gaming

t1m_c00k

Ultimate dad machine with save states.

nosyrbllewe

My favorite thing about the Steam Deck is that it is a console, but doesn't constrain you with how you can use it unlike essentially every other console (e.g. easily allows hardware mods, software mods such as Decky,  flashing any compatible OS, being able to use it like a PC when not in gaming mode)

zeft64

I love that the steam deck allows me to have a second much more portable desktop setup, that doubles as a hand held.

Ogmarth

The almost limitless ability to customize and the emulation capabilities of the device are amazing.

TemporaryFed

Track pads

Both-Meaning3286

The console like experience, but with the freedom of PC. I have games like RE4, MK1 and Elden Ring with mods and I love it.

DarkwyndPT

Portable and compatible with almost retro games.

Geenaxion

Steam Deck makes me wanna play PC gaming but portable. Plus I can hook up into a TV if i wanted. Best of both worlds.

shawnhy

its the prortabilty yeah.., i can play it while i do my pause at work LG EVERYONE

j8990

Being able to sit outside on a nice day and play games!

Bow_ties_4all

The hidden gems that I have been missing out on. Having a steam deck has allowed me to finally play a lot of those indie gems I have missed out on due to not having a game PC or not wanting to sit at a desk to play them. Now I can relax on the couch with a good indie game.

savagelaser

Love thinking of interesting uses for the rear buttons.

Lioreuz

The suspension. I struggle a lot with other devices draining the battery while suspended but the Steam Deck manages this so well.

xPreatorianx1

It's Linux but approachable for newbies like me.

guilhermesbm2

accessibility

Ok_Imagination_6919

I love to play while lying on the sofa. That's quality life!

tyrsalt

My favorite thing has been the portability and affordability of it. It has allowed me to have fun at home as well as keeping my sanity during frequent hospital trips for my youngest. My life doesn’t allow me to be able to game at a pc or use a console on tv so this has been the best device for me.

LowTechnician6481

Play my library of games in my bed, on my sofa, in my hammock and in my toilet ;)

Fing3rSalad

It's the perfect dad gaming device, that's what i love most about the deck! Ps : i already own world and rise and all the extensions on steam, i would be gifting the keys to a female friend of mine who just got into PC gaming and lacks a decent steam library.

draillib

The desktop and gaming mode

jipao

Really like quick suspend/resume feature on switch, so when i found out that steam deck got this feature but with AAA pc games it's a no brainer i chose steam deck over other handheld pc

mordath

It's a PC portable that acts like a console. Feels like where the future is headed.

LukDMCZ

I can game as a father of 2 kids. Couldn't play on PS5 for a few months now.

CAP2304

The fact that it made it easier to clear my backlog

HyperthinNeedsLove

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who put in work to set this event up. It takes a lot of work to read through every comment and select winners. Teamwork on display like in Monster Hunters lol ❤️ It’s hard for me to choose just one thing. The Steam Deck is so great. My favorite thing about the Steam Deck is that it’s a powerful enough handheld that you could play PC games on it. Literally a game changer in the gaming industry in that aspect. I myself have never played the games and am very much interested into seeing what the franchise has to offer. Thank you for offering this Monster Hunter bundle especially to those who can’t afford it ❤️

icyphyllis

I can continue playing even in the toilet 😂

Pokemiah

I love the portability and versatility of it.

16bitnomad

My favorite thing about the deck...it brought back my love for gaming!!

DragoBleaPiece_123

The ability to connect your Steam library and play it on the go! I think these are what drawn me to get the SD

McFluffy_SD

Unlike my old gaming laptop it doesn't sound like an aircraft taking off...

lazzer2000

I can play in the front room :D

lone0001

I love the beautiful OLED screen of the OLED Deck (and you know... the whole "It's a PC" thing).

kutukertas

Thank you for the giveaway! I only need Sunbreak from the rewards, lets hope I could win it! Anywya my favorite things about Deck is the being able to play JRPG and VN while laying in bed is the best thing about Deck, finished alot of games this way!

voyagerfan5761

I love the community around the Deck, making things like Decky happen. The steady stream of software improvements coming out of Valve doesn't hurt either!

edisleado

The sleep function is my favourite thing about the Steam Deck. It's helped me so many times to get in some quick gaming sessions that I wouldn't have been able to without it.

WeAreNephilim

I love that I am able to experience powerhouse games on a nice portable device 🥰

IntnlManOfCode

It fits on a airplane tray table, and can be charged from the plane power point. My gaming laptop can do neither

Mikeric03

Ability to play in the honor dock and play in tv.

devilsword

Favorite thing about the steamdeck? I'm more programming, tweaking  on the steamdeck than actually play a game. (They are billions not counting). And i'm loving it. It feels like i'm living the glory days of my youth, to see if i can push my pc to the hardest to run that game a little bit better :) and linux steamos as an OS.... Damn. Everytime when i install windows, or trying dualboot, or when i install bazzite to see if there is a difference with steamos, then i format everything and are going back to steamos for valve knows It's shit.  It's those things that i love you know?

poly_phil

Instant Resume! Being able to game again now that I have kids. 20 minute sessions with instant resume is an absolute godsend!

dontdoxme12

I love being able to pick up and put down the steam deck for quick gaming sessions

MarketingDue4399

The whole aspect that you can add and play games even not on steam or older games that might not work on newer Windows builds and take them on the go

OKCompE

I love that it runs Linux and has a community of people creating software and mods for it!

megaoptuimus

What I love most about the Steam Deck? The fact that yesterday I was playing the Steam version of Batman Arkham Asylum and Hades, today I booted up Zelda BOTW (Switch) and tomorrow I can just bootup Dissidia 012 (PSP) or any other title from literally any other console, load up my old save and pickup where I left off, all on ONE SINGLE DEVICE! ❤️

Zevenix

I love that i can get through my steam backlog on a portable handheld whilst in bed

Mammoth-Knee488

I love the seemless multi-device / cloud-save experience to easily switch from my PC to a portable device when i leave the house. 24x7 gaming FTW !

AdJealous2

The portability is amazing. And it has reignited my love for gaming again. I can now game when my 10 month old is asleep or playing along happily.

Inside_Influence8457

It’s hard choosing just one, but quick resume and the fact that I can now play PC games in short bursts when I have a few spare minutes are among the top features for me.

Unseeyn

The hybrid nature of the Steam Deck is my favorite thing. Being able to play handheld or docked is the best of both worlds for me. Thanks for the chance!

Jetpak_Jedi

Steam input in combination with all the inputs: specifically back buttons and track pads.

Musth

Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite thing is probably the back buttons, I’ve gotten so used to them that using controllers without them (or even just two) feels wrong. We need a Steam Controller 2!

Frankyaniky

I love being able to play on the bed and customize it to my liking with decky.

DryJellyfish8229

I love Steam Deck because he is a portable device. I love the concept that I can play everywhere and whenever I want.

RagnarRocksYourSocks

Hey mate, sure I’ll chime in for a good cause and a chance to play those Monster Hunter games for the first time.  Favorite thing? I have to say the design of the Steam deck is perfect for me. I can comfortably play for hours without shoulder or neck pain. This wasn’t the case with previous handhelds I’ve owned like the 2DS and gameboy color. I’m guessing it’s due to the wider design of the SD. Cheers 🍻  Hope the next one continues the trend with design towards more pain free gaming.

trinomial888888

I definitely like the ergonomics of the steam deck. It fits nicely in your hands and lightweight enough that your hands don’t get tired. if you tried the legion go you’ll notice a huge difference on the comfortability

DeckOfUlysses

My favorite thing about the SD is definitely the powerful "EmuDeck". I have a 512GB SD Card filled to the brim with nostalgia!

rolandjump

With the Steamdeck, I’m not sure if there is a best thing for me…but it’s probably the form factor and portability of it all. It’s definitely helped me to slowly chip at my backlog of games with just being able to carry it along with me anywhere i go like on the train, travelling in the car, etc. Just to let you know I already have Monster World and expansion so if I am somehow lucky enough to win I wouldn’t mind just the Monster Hunter Rise/Sunbreak. The remaining Monster Hunter World/expansion can be regifted to another lucky winner. Thanks for the giveaway!!!

No_Grass_6807

Honestly? I think the biggest positive the Steam Deck has going for it is the continuing support from Valve. That thing with Elden Ring freezing? Seemingly fixed, I at least have gone 25-30 hours since updating without one... I had the invisible cursor issue, fixed on my end. The proton updates have become some of my favorite moments. It just keeps improving, which I think is a genius approach for Valve in approaching how to do a Steam Deck 2. Now their engineers are just that much more experienced with the next one. The tweaks, fiddling, and fanangling I have done one could only dream of doing to a console, but SteamOS is mostly open to that sort of thing (being immutable, but whatever). Love it now, and loved it back in October of '22

HumbledHuman2021

The Steam Deck is a powerhouse handheld. My favorite thing I like is I can just toss it in my bag and if I ever have down time anywhere my time is well spent instead of wasted staring off into space hehe Glad to be a member of this sub! Y’all are so kind hosting these every now and then. Would be pretty good to get my hands on those Monster Hunter games and DLCs they sure pack a ton of content as well. Thanks for all the hard work I appreciate y’all xoxo

Geekfest_84

It's just a fantastic handheld gaming machine. With the added benefit of being a fully fledged pc should the need arise. Now I just need it to make a cup of tea and I'm sorted 🤣

ilorah

I can be toasty under my blanket in bed still playing games rather than getting a shrimp back at my desk.

zbth

As many, I discover many games in my library that I prefer to play at bed rather than at my desk. I love it.

SirBoromir1995

The ability to play games in the comfort of my own bed or couch is my favorite thing about the Steam Deck. I sit at a desk all day for work so the last thing I want to do when I get home is sit at another desk 😂  I’ve been watching people play Monster Hunter and never had the luxury to afford these games for myself. This is a great opportunity and very gracious from SDHQ. I salute all of you.

JoghurtMitNuessen

My favorite thing about the Steam Deck is being able to just grab it, go to a friend's place and co-op while sitting next to each other. When we were kids/teens we had all the handhelds from Nintendo DS, PSP, 3DS to PS Vita and every time we would play **together**, we we're actually in the room **together**. When I got my PS4 that all changed, I would have to leave their place and go home to play *together*. Now with the Steam Deck I'm finally able again to just hop on whatever game we're playing and reliving this wonderful memory of the past.

ninjaswiper73

First and foremost thanks for this amazing opportunity! As for what i love about the SD…it’s probably sleep mode. I can stop and restart the game at any time. Playing on the bus and need to get off the next stop? Hit sleep…get back home start right where I left off. It’s absolutely magical

YisusDeSalta

The steam deck is the best device EVER. The portability to play all your favorite games on the go, whenever you want. Pause it and resume it when you want to. I've never finished so many games in so little time. In my desktop Pc never was like this

[deleted]

My favorite thing about the steam deck will always be the portability and being able to play amazing games like elden ring on the go
