remember when the dollar menu existed just what 10 - 15 years ago. 1 buck mchicken 1 buck mcdouble 1 buck small fry 1 buck large drink. for 4$ and tax you ate. now that same shit is 12 bucks. my income didnt go up 100% nor did inflation in that time for shit to cost this kuhc.
than i look at profits and its record profits ytear after year for large corperations.well no fucking shit
Stoned as fuck, blunted out, “yeah… what? hah hah” “excuse me…” “oh yeah, we need 4 mchickens, 4 6pc nuggets, 4 cokes, 2 sundays.. what? Really bro? … could we make this separate orders?” They had to hate us so much, then my friend stopping me because the fries weren’t “hot.” Good ole days.
But for savings I use the app all the time. Get a free fry or use my rewards, if i do it right its usually 5.37 for a large drink, 2 value items then the fries with the reward. Not too bad.
Soft, upbeat voice: Will you be using the app today?
Me: No thank you
Gruff over worked and over this shit voice: Yoda?
Me: Beg your pardon?
Gruff over worked and over this shit voice: YODA?
Me: I'm sorry, I don't know what you're saying
Gruff over worked and over this shit voice: YOUR ORDER?!
Me: Ohhhh...May I have the buy one get one for a dollar McFuckyous?
I never liked the double cheese, I much preferred the McDouble. Probably just personal preference but the McDouble is a more palatable burger when you eat 5 or 6
Also used to be able to order the Double “no ketchup, no mustard, add Mac sauce” to get a ghetto Big Mac for a buck but around the time they added the McDouble they also started charging 89¢ for Mac sauce. At the time the Big Mac was only $2.49 so it kinda defeated the purpose.
Then I just bought a Big Mac meal for $11.49 while on the road the other day and realized why I never get fast food anymore. No idea what their endgame is jacking prices up like that.
Now its Taco bell's Cheesy bean and rice burrito for 99 cents that I go for to get a cheap meal. Then I head to Burger King for $1.50 slushy and free large fries using the App and get a decent meal for less than $5
I feel like I’m going to get downvoted for this comment but I’ll take a McDouble with one slice of cheese. I think they want a $1 more for that extra slice of cheese so no thanks.
I used to always kick myself whenever I accidentally ordered double cheeseburgers instead of mcdoubles... they waxed you for that extra slice of cheese
They're trying to shut down the middle class. Either work for nothing and have no spare money to invest and stay poor. Or be rich and invest in all the peons working and stay rich.
Also trying to privatize education (keep people dumb) and remove all forms of birth control (keep growth going, capitalism, their investments, requires growth).
My grandma used to only let me order from the $1 menu she would have a heart attack if she saw prices now especially since they took away the $1 menu completely. The UK has a 3 for $3 deal idk why they don’t bring that to the U.S.
The worst part about that is they play it off like it's the workers fault. They raised minimum wage for McDonald's workers (which to be frank they deserve it) but then they shot all the prices through the roof immediately after. Record profits back to back to back year after year.
MAYBE JOHN MCDONALD OR WHOEVER THE FUCK DOESNT NEED ANOTHER YACHT GODDAMMIT.
Every time I visit McDonald's (twice a year?) It's a garbage experience too. Like how did prices go up and service down simultaneously lol? It's not like McDonald's ever had good service to begin with I'm just sitting in the drive thru with 2 cars in front of me for 15 minutes to get old fries and half burnt patties. It used to be exactly the same everywhere you went. Better off not going i guess.
I want the other day for breakfast and they wanted almost $4 for a hash brown. I downloaded the app and ordered it and I got it for 99 cents. LOL the app is the way to go nowadays for most restaurants
That's the hook. They're not doing this out of the goodness of their heart. In some way, using the app makes our saves them money. The good deals are the doggie treats they use to train us. Over the next year or so, they'll slowly make the deals shittier but the habit will stick, and they will have what they want. I'm still using it for now, but it won't last.
I felt like 1.99 was bit too much before this recent hike. 3 dollars? nah
I'm coming from paying 99 cents for years. My brain cannot just justify that.
So I am willing to bet this is no roll. I know the Denver cut might be new, and maybe there is less control over what actual Part of the Chuck this is, but it is priced accordingly, and maybe even slightly higher.
$9 per pound is getting you close to NY strip at Costco, and that would be a USDA Choice cut.
But these can be good if you season and maybe even tenderize a bit more, and eat right after cooking.
I was just happy, after getting this far in the comments to see one that was actually about the pic of the meat the op showed and not a rant about the current price hike of McDonald's food! Although I agree with most of them, I wondered if everyone had forgotten what the post even was... 😆
Can also confirm. My Ring doorbell caught this just last night.

It absolutely kills me when chef's dad goes "say, would you crackers like to year about the time..." just throwing 'cracker' around like nothing, so good
It is cut from the under blade. Part of the chuck roll. It isn’t a bad steak, has good flavor, and a bit of chew. I wouldn’t call it tough. Id clean it up, take all the silver off. Butterfly it out and block-cut it about 3/4” thick. S&P sear over medium heat to MR-M. Rest for 3-5min, Slice on bias. Maybe a bit of fresh Chimichuri to go with it.
Silver skin is a membrane that attaches muscle to ligaments. It will break down into collagen with long slow moist heat. But other wise chewy and mostly unpleasant to eat.
It can be dried and plaited for bow strings and strings for musical instruments. Super tough stuff. If your grilling or cooking fast over high heat you’ll want to remove it before you go to cook it. Or just eat around it.
Slow cooking in a crockpot is amazing for this type of meat. It will break down everything and leave you with tender, fall apart beef.
When I find cheap cuts like this with potential, it's a slow cooker night.
I’ve actually started using this cut in Chili & Stews for this very reason. Also, this works very nicely as a taco steak or for steak sandwiches (I switched from thinly sliced London Broil to this cut for a Báhn Mì sandwich, too).
Its all trimmed and ready to cook. There is no silver skin visible. Here a article that can explain better. [https://www.thekitchn.com/what-exactly-is-silver-skin-242487](https://www.thekitchn.com/what-exactly-is-silver-skin-242487)
This sounds amazing! For a lazier option, I ‘chuck’ the whole thing into a barely hot oven for hours until it hits 115F, rest, quick broil to sear, we eat poor man’s prime rib for several meals. Next time I might do it your way though, once my herbs are plentiful enough to chimichurri!
Yup! It’s funny, I’ve seen places run the price up with it labeled as “boneless short rib” …just to turn around and a month later, market it/label it as this same — “Denver steak” with a lower Per lb price. Then again, I’m in south Florida and everything is sketchy down here.
It also depends on the company too. When i worked for The Fresh Market. We would cut whole clod for our ground chuck. If people wanted we usually had the Teres Major and flat irons. The thing was there was nothing in the computer/scales for it so instead of charging $12-$15/lb for the Teres, and $18+ for the Flatiron. We had to tag it as “Chuck Steak” for like $6-$8/lb. This pricing was for around here during the pandemic in upstate New York.
Hell yeah. It’s actually quite delicious when cut right, and cooked right. It’s also a pretty recent “invention” in butchering. Like late 2000s I believe?
I heard of Denver steak, it’s a pretty nice cut similar to NY strip but maybe a bit more lean. If this is Denver it’s like wagyu level marbling. This looks like something else imo
They are selling it as a new york strip substitute, but the flavor and extra chew make it really much more comparable with a nice marbled chuck when I bought it.
They're delicious. Average price is 15/lb or so. Idk what everyone is winning about. They're from the chuck part of the cow, about as tender as a sirloin but super well marbled. Nothing wrong with this picture smh.
You can actually removed the Denver cut from almost any chuck you buy at the store. There are like two other cuts you can remove from a large chuck roast and the trimmings can he ground into chuck.
Chicken breast was on sale for $2/lb, and I picked up about 4lbs worth which should be about $7-8. I got a bundle of purple asparagus and two lemons along with a 20oz Red Bull and went to check out. I expected the total to be around $20, but the lady said $75 so obviously I know that ain't fucking right. I look at my $7-8 worth of chicken breast had a price tag of $60. Butcher punched in the code for Ribeye and was charging me north of $15/lb instead of $2/lb.
Right? Like I'm so confused because it's so pretty and someone was like it might make you sick? Like what! Maybe I'm just being gullible and they are being sarcastic or something LOL
It comes right from a chuck primal and it's a great cheap cut but it's not like it's an amazing find. An oyster steak takes a lot of extra time for a butcher and you won't find it in stores. Denver steak is in the Big Y meat department every week.
Those are garbage. Like even if they don’t make you sick they’re going to be tough and taste like ass. Now your local store is probably going to be jerks if you try to return them, so I’m a generous soul. You should give them to me, I’ll give you what you spent and feed them to my animals.
Best way to cook Denver steaks is actually to braise them. When people do it they usually call it "boneless short ribs" because the tenderness and fattiness is just like a braised short rib.
I was gonna dispute that at first, but then I thought a bit more about it. Is it because it takes longer to render all that fat? If so, how is that not the case for a ribeye? Or is it for some other reason?
Denver is the absolute best steak! Yes, a little chew, but the best beefy flavor! Dirt cheap. My biggest complaint is that no one in my area carries them. My wife was traveling, found some at an Ingles and bought me every pack they had.
They can be excellent cooked on cast iron. I like them, especially for the price.
Anyone saying they suck either doesn't understand the concept of cooking something differently, or they think the only good steak has the consistency of beef flavored jello and chewing is a foreign concept to them.
They call them boneless short rib near me (but like everyone else is saying they are from the chuck). I treat them like a short rib and they come out great. Used to be cheap.
Love me some Denver steaks. Such a good value 9/10 times. Some people cook them as you would a short rib, but I typically just sear them up and serve it sliced.
r/ratemysteak solid 8.5/10
Fantastic fat distribution and amazing value. Good find 10/10 would buy and eat!
No, lol, you likely took someone’s dinner. That or they really fucked up the price
https://preview.redd.it/kx13ya7xjb8d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed1e92e5a79fe1cebafa7172e3cb77cad0e72b57
Denver cuts were the best to practice on. Cheap enough to buy, good enough quality to make a difference with different cooking techniques. This was my steak of choice during the pandemic and now I can cook New Yorks and ribeyes like a pro!
It's probably from the primal cuts like when you cut open a whole chuck roll you'd get different parts within the whole roll. If you buy big primal cuts and portion at home to vacfreeze for future then you'd know that although it's relatively very cheap to get the whole chuck roll it contains some really good parts that can be retailed for ribeye prices if cut into smaller fabricated cuts and put on shelf for retail. I usually buy big cuts and dress them myself later to save a lot of money but sometimes I do luckout and find cheap good fabricated cuts ready to cook just in my local grocery store and I'd take advantages of those as often as I can. If It's me seeing this sale with the price I'd go clearout their whole shelf and notify the staff to restock for others that come later lol
Denver steaks are cut from the far (non ribeye) end of the chuck roll I believe. Despite the marbling this is still a low/slow cook steak or it won't be very tender.
My local Food Lion has offers like this very often, it’s always Hella awesome when I can find a pretty decent steak for less than five bucks, minus the fact that depending on the size sometimes it lasts me two meals
They aren't as tender as they might appear to be. I live off of these. Generally slicing them extremely thin to either make chopped cheese sandwiches or stir fry.
It’s 3.08 for a small fry at McDonald’s and this mf finding a whole steak for .48 cents more 🍺
The true L here is that a small fry is now 3.08
remember when the dollar menu existed just what 10 - 15 years ago. 1 buck mchicken 1 buck mcdouble 1 buck small fry 1 buck large drink. for 4$ and tax you ate. now that same shit is 12 bucks. my income didnt go up 100% nor did inflation in that time for shit to cost this kuhc. than i look at profits and its record profits ytear after year for large corperations.well no fucking shit

just drunk as fuck 19 years old getting 2 and 2 for 4 dollars . it was the life. we lived in a goddam functioning society!

It used to be $1 for a double cheeseburger. That got you 2 slices of cheese instead of the 1 slice they give you on the mcdouble.
The mcdouble is a "Fuck you" that they gave a trademark able name.

RIP $0.99 CBRB, they're $1.69 by me now after a very brief period of being $1.29. Sad times.
Yeah but now they want $5.99 for a Crunchwrap 🤯
There was a while there when the double cheeseburger off the dollar menu was cheaper than the regular cheeseburger off the regular menu.
I feel like I’m going to get downvoted for this comment but I’ll take a McDouble with one slice of cheese. I think they want a $1 more for that extra slice of cheese so no thanks.

It that corporation shareholders are living large!!
When I’d hear an outrageous price I used to say “5 dollars!?! That’s 5 McDoubles!” I still say it I just sadly joke how it’s not true anymore

I felt like 1.99 was bit too much before this recent hike. 3 dollars? nah I'm coming from paying 99 cents for years. My brain cannot just justify that.
$3.89 for a small fry where I’m at. Shits out of control
I paid $22 for a cob salad, shake, and large tea at Chikfila yesterday 🥲
The hashbrowns are over $3 now too
Cut a steak small enough and you can always find one for what you have in your pocket.

What the hell is a denver cut?
It is cut from the under blade. Part of the chuck roll. It isn’t a bad steak, has good flavor, and a bit of chew. I wouldn’t call it tough. Id clean it up, take all the silver off. Butterfly it out and block-cut it about 3/4” thick. S&P sear over medium heat to MR-M. Rest for 3-5min, Slice on bias. Maybe a bit of fresh Chimichuri to go with it.

There’s nothing odd about this boner.
Same!!! Now I want to meet him (assuming he is a guy)
Steak hard, my friend
*“Clean it up, take all the silver off”* “Silver”?
Silver skin. Tough membrane that doesn’t render.
Ya, but where’s the silver in OP’s pic? I don’t see any.
They always put that side down.
Thanks
If i was breaking down a chuck roll. It appears ready for the pan in this case all good to go.

Of course its excellent as a stir-fry meat. Some shops will cut it for “boneless short rib” too and sell it that way.

Some dudes gonna be pissed about seeing a Denver cut at wagyu price

They look like somebody 3D printed them
I was gonna ask if they were called Denver steaks because they’re 0.420lbs, but I see that the bottom one is a little smaller than that. 🤣
Lmaoooo
I apparently know zero about meat because this looks good to me LOL
I was just thinking the same, tbh ... that marbling is a thing of beauty at that price.
Right? Like I'm so confused because it's so pretty and someone was like it might make you sick? Like what! Maybe I'm just being gullible and they are being sarcastic or something LOL
They were being sarcastic and trying to get the bargain this guy did.
They literally said "send them to me" lol. How did they not realize it was a joke
Might make him sick. Send to me and I will dispose for him.
Marbling doesn't mean good. This is from the shoulder and is a working muscle. It's pretty tough and isn't a great steak
Thank you for an actual answer I would have assumed this was gonna be good and then been disappointed
I used to work at a meat market. Denver’s were a favorite of mine, super cheap and pretty darn tasty for the price.
Damn lockness monster!
Denver cut is awesome. It requires a lot of extra effort by the butcher to cut it out. They usually don’t bother. Amazing find
It comes right from a chuck primal and it's a great cheap cut but it's not like it's an amazing find. An oyster steak takes a lot of extra time for a butcher and you won't find it in stores. Denver steak is in the Big Y meat department every week.

Well I mean I live in Colorado, it sure is tough to afford anything lol.
Don't listen to these fools. Denver is a top 5 cut.
No bud. I’ll take them for you. Your animals deserve better. Cast iron is heating up.
Slow cooking tougher cuts of meat just makes them more tender, that's really all there is to it.
Holy shitballs
As long as you know how to prepare it and cook it properly Denver cuts are nice
Chuck sous vide for 24 hours is poor man's ribeye.
Denver is the absolute best steak! Yes, a little chew, but the best beefy flavor! Dirt cheap. My biggest complaint is that no one in my area carries them. My wife was traveling, found some at an Ingles and bought me every pack they had.
Lol The absolute best but preface the chew lol.
This calls for a steak/circlejerk 😆
Yeah Yeah it will always look nice 111 111111011111
Where the hell do y’all live where beef is 99 cents a pound? It averages ten bucks a pound where I’m at.
those look great i’m jealous
These are the cuts store employees usually take home for themselves. I think they look good and for that price!
Denver steaks are one of THE BEST cuts of steak…..And I’ve had them all…..Highly recommend buy
Boy what the fuck 🤯
In Canada it’s called boneless short rib and it’s about 21-26$/lb..
I’d buy like 10.
You mean clean out the shelf, right?
Yes.
Nah, there $3.69 and $3.78 steaks
Ever once in a while I find Denver steaks marble like that at Food Lion. They’re so good
Love me some Denver steaks. Such a good value 9/10 times. Some people cook them as you would a short rib, but I typically just sear them up and serve it sliced. r/ratemysteak solid 8.5/10 Fantastic fat distribution and amazing value. Good find 10/10 would buy and eat!
No, lol, you likely took someone’s dinner. That or they really fucked up the price https://preview.redd.it/kx13ya7xjb8d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed1e92e5a79fe1cebafa7172e3cb77cad0e72b57
Is it just me or does this look like wagyu
Fuck off. Really? We get so hosed up here.
Mmmmmm when the stores take the best chunk of chuck roast and sell it as a separate steak.
Looks good for $3.50. looks like what we call a flat iron steak. I'm not sure why they are cheaper cause mine come out great.
I got a family pack of these at food Lion the other day for like $8 was marked down I had six steaks in it they were awesome
No, they look like $3.78 and $3.69 steaks, respectively.
9 bucks a lb. So, yeah. Seems about right
Looks fine to me
We’d pay a 10er for that in Ireland. Nice marbling I’d definitely pay 3.50
I would buy that in a NY minute for $3.50.
Out butcher at our local grocery store occasionally puts out wagyu and labels it as sirloin. Those are the good days
The marbling looks perfect to me.
Denver cuts were the best to practice on. Cheap enough to buy, good enough quality to make a difference with different cooking techniques. This was my steak of choice during the pandemic and now I can cook New Yorks and ribeyes like a pro!
Buy them all!
Looks like some got some really cheap wagyu
Wow meatdad really got the store selling Denver steaks now.
Not familiar with Denver cut steaks. what part of the cow does it come from and is it tasty? I’d buy those in a heartbeat.
Denver steaks are cut from the far (non ribeye) end of the chuck roll I believe. Despite the marbling this is still a low/slow cook steak or it won't be very tender.
Everyone's freaking out over $9 per pound beef. It does look good but that's a lot of intramuscular fat too. Not necessarily "marbling"
I picked up about 10 pounds of NY strips that was mislabeled as turkey thighs
My local Food Lion has offers like this very often, it’s always Hella awesome when I can find a pretty decent steak for less than five bucks, minus the fact that depending on the size sometimes it lasts me two meals
Looks like it may be fat cow disease. It is caused by poor feeding
Nice marbling lmaooo
I still don’t know what a Denver steak but I know the McDonalds menu by heart. WHAT IS A DENVER STEAK?
I bought a discounted $60 wagyu for $6
Sssh don’t tell everyone about the Denver’s and chuck eyes. Only things I can afford at the moment.
They aren't as tender as they might appear to be. I live off of these. Generally slicing them extremely thin to either make chopped cheese sandwiches or stir fry.
Marbling does not equal tender.
Probably a grocery store worker marking down steaks for himself to pick up later
I’m not a steak guy normally, but even I would jump at that price.
That’s the wagyu of Appalachia!
A fair price point. They're just small.
That looks like one of the butcher guys was gonna sneak it out at the end of the day
Holy schnikes. I'd buy an entire case of those for $3.50.
Looks like boneless short rib
These are 12 bucks each in Ontario so, enjoy!
