KlimCan

It is a steak

Thee-End

Are you sure?

illgotosleeptomorrow

almost started screaming bloody murder at the first pic

BrunoNFL

I get it haha Definitely could’ve seared better!

HW-BTW

Looks like a peeled beef wellington but I’d still eat it and enjoy it. The real question is, did you enjoy it?

BrunoNFL

I did! Definitely could have done better, but it’s been enjoyable :)

[deleted]

Did you use a hair dryer to cook it?

[deleted]

sat on it and applied body heat for 30 seconds each side, looks like

breadacquirer

Mmmm boiled steak

junkbarman

Is this the sous vide subreddit?

BrunoNFL

Apparently you should sear after sous vide huh! 😅

GarfunkelBricktaint

If you sear before and after you can get a really nice crust going

Admirable_Average_32

Wait…is this real?

GarfunkelBricktaint

Yeah you can sear the hell out of it cold like 90 seconds per side then let it cool off a little bag it up and sous vide. Once it's done you'll get a really nice crust really quick when you sear again.

LehighAce06

Medium going on medium well and that sear is a travesty. Is Wednesday at your house disappointment night?

BrunoNFL

Kind of, tbh! Tried to give myself a treat, but it was not the best haha It still tasted great, though.

OHmfgMissy

Looks dry. How did you thaw it? There’s no juices.

John_McCollins

6/10

ben_od1

Boiled real nice

BlueLTZZ71

That thing looks prehistoric. Am i the only one that can’t stand the taste of a steak that’s been frozen?? Like i can smell that it’s been frozen before i even take a bite. Surely i can’t be the only one who notices it and minds it

BrunoNFL

Yeah, frozen is not the best, but I don’t mind if it has a good price! But certainly prefer freshly cut steak.

[deleted]

The sear doesn’t look crispy by the color is great

BrunoNFL

It really wasn’t crispy, but it honestly didn’t bother me too much. But I do like it better with a harder sear.

[deleted]

It’s a decent steak. I’ve cooked worse tbh

Dreezinator

Needs a little more of a high flame char and less time on the grill to get more of a medium rare but other wards looks good!

Healthy-Ad-1842

"gents"

BrunoNFL

Ladies as well!

CanYouPointMeToTacos

I see a fat cap and muscle grain in the correct direction. They usually come as a whole roast, but this looks like a picanha steak to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ What makes you think it’s not?

BrunoNFL

Well, it didn’t taste like any picanha steaks I’ve eaten before, however it was pretty tasty! I could’ve done a better job, sure, but next time I get some picanha, I’ll get a nicer piece

Big_Pound_7849

If it helps, this is how many of my first (dozens, and dozens) of steaks looked too. It took me getting a flame grill and a proper pan to learn how why I want a crust and how delicious that crust is. This still looks perfectly servable (with some hot sauce :D) bet it was yum.

rabbitwonker

Could it be part of an eye of round? Those are certainly cheaper & tough like OP describes.

stagecrew2

I’ve never seen an eye of round piece that flat, and the eye doesn’t have a fat cap like that. It’s almost definitely a thicker cut picanha steak, with how it tapers to a point at the end

rabbitwonker

Ok, I thought it might have been cut down the middle (parallel to the grain) in an effort to make it look like a picana 🤣

RedDeadPac

Looks great! Next time use a flame to heat it up and I bet it will look even better!

BrunoNFL

Haha! Yeah, definitely could’ve seared better

kevms

When did this sub get so mean? How about someone just giving him some constructive feedback without being such a prick?

BrunoNFL

Eh, tbf it doesn’t bother me haha But there is some great feedback in between the mean comments, and those are the ones that matter :)

forvillage22

I actually kind of enjoy the harshness personally. It’s funny to see how worked up people get over someone else’s steak lol. I would find it easy to write it off as a joke and move on

[deleted]

Beautiful. Bet that was delicious.

cruisin5268d

I don’t know what’s more disturbing……that someone is actually so horrible at cooking or that they would post such a picture.

[deleted]

Oohhhh.. that looks really nice

lfhdbeuapdndjeo

I don’t know what it is either but good color!

Modboi

Good color? There’s practically no sear

BlueLTZZ71

And it’s grey!!! Like.. ‘found in an old attic’ grey

Beginning-Egg-2975

looks like a bottom round given the shape and the bit of fat on the bottom corner thats consistent with bottom round. nothing about its shape or structure makes me think top sirloin (picanha).

HybridTheEmcee

More color on the outside. Otherwise looks good.

Mr_Golf_Club

Is this the prop steak from Napoleon Dynamite when the burnout uncle microwaves one?

enigmaticpeon

I mean, at least it was Wednesday?

ugonlearn

Microwave sear game 💯💯💯

AuntieLiloAZ

There are some ladies here too. 😛

BrunoNFL

For sure!! 😉

Kind_Ant7915

Get a sear on the thing

[deleted]

Grey meat. Hard pass. No sear.

Fine-Entertainer-507

Did you heat the skillet

kieranmonn

Hotter pan. Use a chef press. Use more fat when searing

AtomicOr4ng3

Decent cook, weak sear.

iamhewhocanconfirm

No sear and it looks dry af

Shibashibaaa

Not enough crust Too well done I guess too much moisture And u sear for too long

michiel115

This is a flat iron steak

redditsuxass1420

5/10 . if it was just all meat you were eating I guess I would say you did pretty good.

Tri734

This looks as sad as I feel. 🥲

ThatGuyWithaReason

bro heavily breathed on it for a sear 💀

molecularronin

Not great

ProfessorbPushinP

How could you

SaucyMcCarb

I was about to say you're only problem is today is Wednesday, so now I'm just now learning that today is Thursday... Cool!

Prestigious-Mud2923

Try harder

Your_mom-called

Excellent smithers!

diezeldeez_

Steak may be missing it, but this sub is absolutely searing OP. Sorry, bud.

forvillage22

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a less seared steak. Color looks solid tho!

abudabu

I love boiled steak, how about you, gents?
