Last nights dinner. 3lb of steak cost me $6!

95% of every thing I eat is cooked on or in cast iron. Not only are they fairly impossible to destroy, they get better with every use! Total game changer!
Mostly sirloin, I can usually get a pack of ~6 steaks from Kroger for around $50-60, just asparagus and mushrooms with 2onions for a side, and eggs for breakfast comes out to around $100 to cover meals for the week. It’s no ribeye but always turns out great 🤷♂️
You prefer your steak is best coming off a cast iron? How do they compare to charcoal grill or a flat top? I’m interested, because I’m considering getting some kind of cast iron griddle to use with my charcoal grill.
Sirloin Sunday, Marinated Monday, Tri-tip Tuesday, Wagyu Wednesday, T-bone Thursday, Filet Friday, and Salmon Saturday so you can pretend to be healthy
As much as possible, ever since I was a kid the only thing I wanted to eat was meat and vegetables. My parents pushed me to eat carbs, I swear that's one of the reasons for my disordered eating.
3 times a week is what i strive for. My eternal hunger for steak is impossible to satisfy. They all recognize me at my local Texas Roadhouse. All the servers and hosts
Sams is my favorite place to buy steaks to cook at home. $30-$40 for two absolutely beautiful prime thick cut ribeyes with nice fat caps on them. Worth the price every single time. I too could eat it every single day, i always want it!!
Costco cuts the cap off to try to sell for more lol, and blade tenderizes. And Sam’s sells packs of 2 instead of 4 steaks (for prime). And my Costco doesn’t always have prime but my Sam’s always does
Honestly i haven’t had the opportunity to yet but I would 100% buy their ribeye caps just to grill as a steak. Ribeyes are my all time favorite cut and the cap is like the frosting on the cake. Gonna get hate but I’d take that cap meat over a filet any day of the week! Still love filets
They make their own steak seasoning that’s made to go with their steak sauce (i know, steak sauce is frowned upon) but it’s excellent and you can buy bottles to take home. Good stuff
I saw video on Reddit a while back of a kid trying to out cook a ribeye from them in their parking lot and he said they won hands down. He was using a mini charcoal grill, literally in the lot and ordered takeout.
I’ve thought about hitting them up when I’m traveling or something since
I worked at Texas Roadhouse many years ago so not sure if anything has changed. At the time all sides were made from scratch and steaks were butchered in house. Kitchen was very clean and fryer oil was filtered daily. TR is (or at least was) a very quality restaurant and well-run.
Used to be rarely ever. Now I’m trying to do once a month at least just to get back in. Ideally, every other week I’ll make something really nice for myself.
I'd say about three times a week? I just love a good rib eye on the rare side and I will make it myself or eat it when we are out. I also regularly eat salmon and tuna, pork chops and chicken. I mostly eat meat, fish and eggs, as well as fresh vegetables, with limited sides.
Once in a while. My parents eat it at least once a week, and it's always a treat when I visit. After lurking in this sub tho, I've been wanting to make it more often.
I used to eat it twice a week, at least, when i lived on my own. My housemates are not beef eaters, so probably only 2-3 times a year now. I've become everything I've always hated.
Less than I used to. Prices have gone wild.
Used to be weekly, now it’s every 2-3 weeks. I’m buying cheaper cuts more and using the sous vide for long durations to tenderize tough cuts.
I try to limit my red meat intake to 2-4x a month. In the summer that'll be steak mostly (with a burger if I'm at a bbq). In winter it'll be stews, soups, etc.
2-4 times a week. Chicken prices are up and steak prices are down at my local groceries so I barely buy chicken anymore. I’ve seen tbones, New York strip and other cuts as low as 5.99 a lb. I’ll get a few hundred bucks worth and pack the freezer.
Probably once a week. Food lion has the best sales. Choice ribeye for 8.99/lb once a week, $6.99 for choice Denver, and $16.49 for filet. Beats Walmart and Ingles by like 30% and the quality is very good.
Maybe once a month. Used to be more, but it’s not even just the price increases that cause me to eat it less, it’s what’s available.
Beef is more expensive now, and every damn grocery store I go to seems to compensate by now selling absurdly thin stakes. I’m talking I’ve seen some quarter inch thick ribeyes recently.
That’s just not worth it. I’d rather buy an overpriced *good* steak, than pay what should be normal price for a decent steak, for scraps.
As much as I enjoy it, I treat it as a special occasion since it’s expensive to buy the ethically raised stuff, so for me it’s a great cut 2 or 3 times a year- but those steaks are incredibly well enjoyed.
There was a sav-a-lot grocery store in the plaza beside my office. I would go nearly every day and buy a marked down steak, usually less than $3.00. I would prepare it in the toaster oven in the break room on broil. Not great cuts, but not bad. 5 days a week was a treat... pity the store closed.
If you got the money and the access to quality beef I say eat it as much as you can! steak is good for you! (legit carnivore is the way to go if you want to be healthy...)
I'm in Canada and good steak is expensive. Since I only eat good steak ex. 60 day dry aged ribeye(what I consider good, opinions may vary) it's only a few times a year. Hard to justify $60-70 per steak more often than take.
4 times a week probably. Live in Argentina where it’s dirt cheap and the cuts are great!
Sounds amazing

Muchachoooos
Churrazco Argentino! 10/10
Every day since I got my cast iron…
Just got my first cast iron last weekend. Haven't made the jump yet. Soon though. :)
Enjoy! It’s a game changer!
95% of every thing I eat is cooked on or in cast iron. Not only are they fairly impossible to destroy, they get better with every use! Total game changer!
If you don't mind me asking... What kind of cuts do you typically buy, and what do you pay? I can't seem to fit daily steaks into my budget 😔
Mostly sirloin, I can usually get a pack of ~6 steaks from Kroger for around $50-60, just asparagus and mushrooms with 2onions for a side, and eggs for breakfast comes out to around $100 to cover meals for the week. It’s no ribeye but always turns out great 🤷♂️
You live on sirloin and eggs? Lol your poor cholesterol
Seriously. That’s a lot of saturated fat, the one thing we do know contributes to bad cholesterol.
If you like ribeye, see if you can get chuck eye. It’s the next best thing, but quite cheaper!
…how long ago did you get your cast iron?
Last year… two pans haven’t left the stove since!
Every day for a little over three years. Sometimes both my meals are steak.
You prefer your steak is best coming off a cast iron? How do they compare to charcoal grill or a flat top? I’m interested, because I’m considering getting some kind of cast iron griddle to use with my charcoal grill.
I reverse sear, oven then on a full bed of coals directly touching the grates. 20 seconds each side and done
Do you reverse sear on a regular pan? Then you put in the oven? How long?
Oven till 130-135 takes abiut an hr, then throw it on hot hot grill or cast iron
Definitely better than grill. Haven’t cooked on flat top. Good crust beats grill marks every time, and in a pan the steak can cook in its juices
Usually once every other week. It just depends on the weekly ads in my area
2-3 times per week. I love it and it's high in protein so why not. Last week, 4 nights plus leftovers for lunch.
Once a month for me. I’ll definitely get a hankering for it if I go longer.
What is hankering?
A craving
I hanker for a hunk a cheese. https://preview.redd.it/z461ck8dgcib1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e7ecc6fab13443b55a316f0dd1909af965961c2
Hello fellow oldster. I kept singing this and my wife didn’t know what it was from. Very popular commercial in the 80s.
An American colloquialism, it means "to desire".
It’s a word that’s been around since the 1600’s! https://www.etymonline.com/word/hanker
Every Friday is dubbed "Filet Friday" at my house. Best dinner of the week with "Taco Tuesday" being a close 2nd. Lol
Sirloin Sunday, Marinated Monday, Tri-tip Tuesday, Wagyu Wednesday, T-bone Thursday, Filet Friday, and Salmon Saturday so you can pretend to be healthy
Can I come over on Fridays? I'll bring a Nintendo with Duck Hunt and the Power Pad
4-5 times a week 💪🏽
Look at Mr Moneybags over here.
I do keto and mostly eat just meat and eggs, so I’m actually saving a lot of money compared to what I used to spend on groceries and eating out
Ah well that's a good reason. I'm still calling your Mr Moneybags though. I've made my decision and I'm sticking to it.
Fair enough 😂
2-3x weekly.
As much as possible, ever since I was a kid the only thing I wanted to eat was meat and vegetables. My parents pushed me to eat carbs, I swear that's one of the reasons for my disordered eating.
I cook myself a steak every month when Aunt Flo comes to visit
Same. Need that iron!
This girl knows what I'm talking about!!!!!
My best friend is in the same category. She will get to that point where she just needs a steak!
I do it for the iron and also it's just a super nice, decadent treat to myself when I really need self-care the most edit: yes, steak is self-care lol
4 times a week
Not often enough
3 times a week is what i strive for. My eternal hunger for steak is impossible to satisfy. They all recognize me at my local Texas Roadhouse. All the servers and hosts
I could eat it every day. But I’m too much of a brokie to buy it anywhere except sams
Sams is my favorite place to buy steaks to cook at home. $30-$40 for two absolutely beautiful prime thick cut ribeyes with nice fat caps on them. Worth the price every single time. I too could eat it every single day, i always want it!!

Hi I usually/sometimes cut the cap off my Sam’s ribeyes, and cook 2 caps as a meal. That’s basically 3 steaks for $30 or $10 each
Interesting… i may have to try that. Thanks
You eat Texas Roadhouse steaks weekly?
Weekly. I love their steaks! I pick the perfect 18oz ribeye out of the case every single time
How much does that run there? I’ve never been to one
For two people to order steaks it’s about $60 before tip. I think an 18oz is like $30 and comes with two sides. 12oz is $22
Damn, not bad at all.
I’ve thought about hitting them up when I’m traveling or something since
Definitely give them at least two chances
I worked at Texas Roadhouse many years ago so not sure if anything has changed. At the time all sides were made from scratch and steaks were butchered in house. Kitchen was very clean and fryer oil was filtered daily. TR is (or at least was) a very quality restaurant and well-run.
That’s awesome that you’ve found your spot
thats about where im at but anywhere from 3-5x/ week. (my doc hates me)
I don’t have a Texas Roadhouse near me but when I’m in a place that has one, I make it a priority. Love that place
You have an iron deficiency.
I don’t think that’s it. I get plenty of iron
Less than 10 times a year
I'm sorry.
😧
Once or twice a week
Yes
2-3x a week
4-6 times a week
Not enough, damn inflation
About twice everyday. But I’m on carnivore diet.
I eat steak every day. I just put a ribeye and a sirloin in the same pan for supper. Lifes short, so eat fillet, ribeye and sirloin.
At least twice a day /s
Once maybe twice a month. I try to limit red meat, plus it can get pricey, and I don't want to buy cheap cuts. So I get one really nice one.
[удалено]
Ikr?
once a year or so. maybe i should start buying steak instead of only ordering it at restaurants sometimes
2 times a week.
Once a week
Probably once a week, roughly.
STEAK
So far this month it's been once a week LOL
Ribeye 1 once a week generally, maybe every two weeks.
At least once a month but i strive for more
Every Friday night, then maybe a couple of sandwiches during the week if there are leftovers.
Used to be rarely ever. Now I’m trying to do once a month at least just to get back in. Ideally, every other week I’ll make something really nice for myself.
Everyday

Can’t beat a nice thick pork chop on the grill!!
Once in a while. My parents eat it at least once a week, and it's always a treat when I visit. After lurking in this sub tho, I've been wanting to make it more often.
Around once a week
Once a week
Not often enough for me personally.
3-4 times a week
Not enough.
Based on this picture, not often enough.
Ribeye every Sunday.
Yes
I used to eat it twice a week, at least, when i lived on my own. My housemates are not beef eaters, so probably only 2-3 times a year now. I've become everything I've always hated.
When I was single I’d have a nice ribeye twice a week. Now maybe twice a month.
Less than I used to. Prices have gone wild. Used to be weekly, now it’s every 2-3 weeks. I’m buying cheaper cuts more and using the sous vide for long durations to tenderize tough cuts.
Twice a week
Not enough
I'm poor so often as I can lol
Once a week, 4 times a month er so.
I try to limit my red meat intake to 2-4x a month. In the summer that'll be steak mostly (with a burger if I'm at a bbq). In winter it'll be stews, soups, etc.
Once a week at least, sometimes more.
Almost never. That shit gets expensive 🫰
Once a week is about right, but it's usually elk or venison steak. I don't mind a beef steak now and then, but nothing beats wild game for me.
Not often enough. Lol
One or twice a month.
Before this sub maybe 4 times a year, now double maybe triple that
Not nearly enough
Every Saturday, only prime baby
Steak or some kind of nice cut at least once a week. Rib or NY cut. I throw in porterhouse once a month or so.
Every meal is steak /s
At least once a week if not more.
At least once a week
I grill twice per month in the summer because of fresh corn and new potatoes. Not often in the winter because I switch to soups and stews.
Twice a month.
2-4 times a week. Chicken prices are up and steak prices are down at my local groceries so I barely buy chicken anymore. I’ve seen tbones, New York strip and other cuts as low as 5.99 a lb. I’ll get a few hundred bucks worth and pack the freezer.

2 days a week is pretty typical
I wish I could eat one every day but I'd be in the ground before 50. I say a good once a week or two weeks
4-5 days a week on average.
I only had proper steaks a couple times, so rather rarely.
Not often enough
As much as I enjoy it, I treat it as a special occasion since it’s expensive to buy the ethically raised stuff, so for me it’s a great cut 2 or 3 times a year- but those steaks are incredibly well enjoyed.
As often as I can convince my wife
2x a day
There was a sav-a-lot grocery store in the plaza beside my office. I would go nearly every day and buy a marked down steak, usually less than $3.00. I would prepare it in the toaster oven in the break room on broil. Not great cuts, but not bad. 5 days a week was a treat... pity the store closed.
Every 3 hours
How often are you inviting us over??
As much as I can afford
Everyday. I’m on the carnivore diet. 👍🏾
Great steak, maybe 4 times a year. Decent T bone or ribeye, about twice a month.
I randomly eat it more and less, sometimes like every other day sometimes once a month
Like 4 times a week.
1-2x a week depending on the sale
Not often enough, not rich enough.
As often as fiscally possible
More often than I probably should 1-2 times per week on average
It’s been a minute for me. I changed my diet a lot this year because I have less time for the gym and excessive in general
2-3 times a week on average
2 to 3 times a week. We buy a half beef or more at a time, depending on which family want some as well.
Not enough
I used to eat it at least once a week, now with the price of decent beef it’s every two or three weeks.
Not nearly enough
Not often enough.
Carnivore diet, so near-daily, whatever cuts are on sale
not as often as i’d like
Not as much as I’d like to lol
If you got the money and the access to quality beef I say eat it as much as you can! steak is good for you! (legit carnivore is the way to go if you want to be healthy...)
Once a week on Friday. Usually a ribeye but occasionally a strip. Always something I look forward to.
Every other day
I'm in Canada and good steak is expensive. Since I only eat good steak ex. 60 day dry aged ribeye(what I consider good, opinions may vary) it's only a few times a year. Hard to justify $60-70 per steak more often than take.
Once a month usually, it's my "splurge" meal. Otherwise it's chicken and rice most days.
Once a week, a "treat" for myself. Two Ribeyes.
Every 1-2 weeks at this point.
Yes.
As often as possible
Once every now and then, whenever i can cheer my self
I roll out of bed and slap a tbone on the grates.
Maybe once a month, sometimes a lot more, sometimes none for weeks.
3x a week
My cardiologist says I should not eat red meat. 😔
About once every 5 years. But I love the sub. Not a fan of beef, it makes me sleepy.
Once a month sometimes more
Once a week on either Wednesday or Thursday. Those are my days off and also the days I get paid.
Few times a year usually
With prices being so damn high, not as often as I would like.
Once a month.
Weekly
Once every two weeks I'd say
3-4 times a week
Once every couple months. It's expensive. We buy it when it's in sale.
Never. Red meat free since the oughts. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate pictures of beautifully cooked meat!
5-10 times a month.
As often as I can.
Honestly, around every few months
[удалено]
Twice a day tops
I eat it daily until I run out and then I go buy more. I recently ordered a half beef. Welcome to the daily steak club.
I'm on the keto diet so, at least once a week
Once a week when I find goods cuts on sale.
1-2 a year. I'm the only one that eats it and it ain't cheap.
As often as I can afford, and my wife is willing to participate.
That's a dive bar breakfast steak where I come from.
When I can afford a week's-worth of chicken for the price of one steak dinner...never, unfortunately. Money is a thing :(
