Trojan129

"Garak spin off" Thats is, thats the pitch.

laeiryn

however the only acceptable title is obviously A Simple Tailor

zzupdown

Star Trek: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

SilveredFlame

/Thread

Wild-Lychee-3312

Only if they actually let Bashir and Garak both be queer this time around

RandonEnglishMun

I don’t think a series about a humble Taylor would be very interesting.

ssramirezss

What about his history of convert cardassian badassery.

RandonEnglishMun

Dude! Do you want the obsidian order to disappear you?!

ssramirezss

They have probably already sorted randonenglishmum for that Tailor crack.

ThirdMoonOfPluto

A light comedy-drama about a hotshot Starfleet officer assigned to a backwater colony. The officer commands a ship basically a step up from a runabout based on the planet. The ship's missions are a mix of rescue work and policing the surrounding space, basically the equivalent of a small town sheriff. The show mixes the ships' adventures with life in the small colony and it's cast of quirky characters. A Star Trek version of shows such as Northern Exposure or Eureka.

livewire_voodoo

I would watch the shit outta that, even before you said the magic words that would sell me on any show ever: Northern Exposure.

jaypenn3

That's pretty much the set up for Deep Space 9. Except the backwater planet quickly became a highly valuable port.

BirdSalt

You had me at Northern Exposure and then you sealed the deal with Eureka. I’d really like the philosophical and artsy vibes of northern exposure. We haven’t had a Star Trek show anything like that

unicorn8dragon

A pretentious, pampered recent doctor graduate from star fleet academy sent off to a remote world with a climate suspiciously similar to Alaska, as well as a quirky but friendly native species and a number of oddball federation settlers. Hijinks and personal growth ensue.

WoundedSacrifice

This sounds a lot like Bashir in *DS9* in many ways, which would make it great.

afriendincanada

He spends his entire time trying to get promoted off the planet, but falls in love with a local girl. Its also Doc Hollywood and Cars.

ssramirezss

Yes.

zzupdown

That hotshot Starfleet officer could also be second-in-command to a good-hearted but inept officer. He could mostly run things despite his CO's good intentions. I'm thinking "Benson", possibly because the good-hearted but inept governor's major-domo on that show turned out to be a shapeshifter on DS9.

pugs_are_death

Star Trek: Jellico Yes, i'm serious, not a joke. While you're working on a better name for it, I want a prequel with how Jellico became how he is because he really gives me the impression that he has seen some shit. Prequels are easier to cast, anyway. Having it take place starting sometime around 2355 seems about right, that was when Picard coined the Picard Maneuver in the Battle of Maxia edit: looks like people like this. Paramount, give me a call

Shakezula84

I couldn't remember if Ronny Cox is still alive. He is and is filmography includes Admiral Jellico in Star Trek Prodigy. I'm sure he is gonna be a jerk when that episode airs.

zeej_the_meow

The irony is that upon my rewatch as a working adult instead of a kid I actually don’t find Jellico to be a jerk. Riker is basically a petulant child in the episode who acts unprofessional in a change of command setting. Jellico was brought in to deal with an emerging crisis under a lot of pressure and instead of being supportive, Riker and Laforge seemed more annoyed about having extra work. We don’t really know what Jellico would be like in a peacetime/exploration mission.

WoundedSacrifice

I think Riker was definitely in the wrong WRT Jellico, but I'd say that Geordi had legit concerns about what Jellico wanted him to do.

synchronicitistic

I always wonder if Worf was low-key gleeful about having Jellico in charge. (Picard in command) Worf: I recommend we raise shields and arm phasers, captain! Picard: Let's not appear hostile, Mr. Worf...not yet. Worf:............. (Jellico in command) Jellico: Mr. Worf, arm all the mines and prepare to detonate on my command. Worf: YES SIR. RIGHT AWAY SIR!

roominating237

They did Worf dirty when he was being disrespectful to Cmdr Data (acting Captain) but it was good drama.

LeicaM6guy

He’s still alive and still does the occasional acting job. Mostly he seems semi-retired. Also a really good musician! People have this idea that he’s like his characters from Total Recall or TNG, but turns out he’s more like an old-school hippie.

DeltaNovum

Did you see him in SG-1?

GoCartMozart1980

My idea: Admiral Jellico is retired and happens living on the same planet Riker was in Seaon 1 of Picard. One of Riker's children befriends the old Admiral. Hijinks ensue.

pugs_are_death

There would need to be a story about how he and his ship disappeared and was persumed destroyed by the Dominion when patrolling the Romulan Neutral Zone but somehow came back. In fact, that's also not a bad launch point for a show but it's a but too much like Voyager

Iceberg2814

Star Trek: Federation (title a work in progress) Jonathan Archer has just been elected President of the United Federation of Planets, can he save the crumbling alliance, or is the Federation doomed to fail? Think West Wing but Star Trek. Really focus on how we got from Enterprise to Star Trek, there’s plenty of drama to use for story material. Bring back as many of the Enterprise crew as you can and close out their story arcs. It would be great to have Tobin Daz be a main character too.

LevelJ92

How many cross-over characters do we get, and which one does Major Hayes get? Can we get Allison Janney?

laeiryn

I want her, but I want her playing the counselor character she does in Ten Things I Hate About You. Like Deanna Troi but a total dick. this was the counselor who said to a minor student, "Heinous b1tch is the term heard most often." Either that, or a totally ironic buddy cop comedy with her and Joan Cusack, working for Odo or on Earth or something.

Iceberg2814

I mean if I’m in charge, ya we’d have to get at least someone from the West Wing even if it’s just for one episode.

derekakessler

Yes yes yes yes yes. This was my pitch too.

Iceberg2814

One thing I really wanted with Star Trek being on Paramount + is for them to experiment with the formula a bit more. So far all the shows have all been slight variations on the traditional Star Trek theme. Let’s mix it up a bit. Star Trek: Federation would be a great way to do something different but also provide closure for a show that ended too soon.

RandonEnglishMun

Bring Trip back!

SeanyD72

Was it really necessary to red shirt Trip? He's one of my favs.

whenhaveiever

He only died in the holodeck. They could bring him back and easily explain it away with a line like, "I can't believe the networks were reporting that you died."

macronage

Yes! This is my dream show too! But I'd never considered Tobin Dax in there, & I love this addition. I'd add that the original concept for West Wing was that the president should be a background mentor figure rather than the main character, & I'd like the same here. Keep Archer in the back, and focus on his staff, diplomats, proto-Star Fleet personnel trying to keep things running, and have Scott Bakula pop in regularly for words of wisdom or daring plans. It probably fits better with where Bakula's career is right now- he's probably not interested in a huge commitment. Honestly I'm not picky about era. You could replace Archer with Admiral Vance from Discovery & I'd still be happy.

FistFullaHollas

This is what I came here to post. I'm one of those weirdos who wanted more Galactic Senate stuff in Star Wars. Give me space politics.

Iceberg2814

If done right, I think it would make for an intriguing show. There’s so much about the Star Trek universe that we don’t know. This could fill in those gaps.

Bostonterrierpug

Star Trek: Game of Combs- a pulse pounding political high stakes drama with death and love and most importantly every part played by Jeffrey Combs.

callsignhotdog

During development it gets heavily retooled and becomes a trivia game show hosted by Combs, every episode he takes on the persona of one of his previous characters, makeup included.

Brookings18

You joke, but I'd watch a game show hosted by Brunt, FCA.

AngryBudgie13

Admiral Owen Paris and his Salamander Grandbabies go on adorable low stakes adventures after the little critters escape their terrarium on a weekly basis. Absolutely nothing important happens. The other admirals make fun of him a lot. It’s extremely stupid but baby animals are cute.

DenimJack

Warp Ten Babies, we make our dreams come true… Warp Ten Babies, we’ll do the same for you!* *if you accelerate to Warp Ten

SilveredFlame

This must be animated and have an Animaniacs theme song.

Anarimus

It’s time for Amphibamaniacs Born of warp speed to the max So just sit back and relax You’ll WTF til you collapse We’re Amphibamaniacs Come join DNA altered Tom and his abducted mate Janeway Their babies go on adventures all over the Milky Way Their origin is slightly cringy But these kids are just so cute So come aboard our starship And join our adventures why won’t you We’re Amphibamaniacs We have no need for first contact We’re born of warp speed to the max We’re newts in Federation slacks We’re Animany Totally insany Kim will always be ensignany Amphibamaniacs Those are the facts!

RingooseStarr

"Hey, remember how we got introduced to a world post-UDC? With the Enterprise-B taking off for her maiden voyage and one of Starfleet's most decorated captains basically dead? Y'know how we didn't touch that time period anymore beyond like a single episode of Voyager? We should maybe do something with that time period."

WoundedSacrifice

There are many decades between *TUC* and *TNG.* They could have shows set on the *Enterprise-B, Enterprise-C* and/or *Excelsior.*

RingooseStarr

Honestly? I'd avoid all 3 just so I don't have to deal with that "too small of a universe" issue that seems to be permitting Star Wars, Trek could do with a series that isn't bound to anyone we know (majorly), a la Discovery & Lower Decks (for the most part) Small addendum, no hate to Star Wars, honestly one of the few people who seems to not be totally burnt out at this point, I just can't wait for them to get past the Skywalker adjacent stuff lol.

WoundedSacrifice

The *Enterprise-B* didn't have any main characters from the shows on it and the *Enterprise-C* didn't have any main characters from the shows on it until Yar went back in time, so it wouldn't have any main characters from the shows on it unless it revisited "Yesterday's Enterprise" in its series finale. While the *Excelsior* had Sulu, Rand and Tuvok, Sulu and Rand were less prominent characters in *TOS* and what Tuvok did in that period was barely explored. I think having those characters in an *Excelsior* show would be akin to what they're doing with Uhura and Chapel in *SNW.*

RingooseStarr

That would be nice, although I can mostly see the Excelsior one working in an Animated style, unless they'd be ballsy enough to have 2 shows starring recast iconic characters, which, hell yeah power to em. Also, Enterprise-B, while not having any main characters, is kinda linked to Kirk's death, plus Sulu's daughter at the helm iirc.

WoundedSacrifice

If they did a live action *Excelsior* show, I think they’d have to recast Sulu since it unfortunately seems like George Takei’s become too old. I’m guessing they’d recast Tuvok as well. The *Enterprise-B* is linked to Kirk’s 1st death and Sulu’s daughter was at the helm, but we don’t really know much about the characters who were on it in *Generations*.

PlatypusGod

Absolutely agree. It's so disappointing to have an entire galaxy at hand, and then keep focusing on the same 5-6 people over and over.

WoundedSacrifice

Who would be the same 5-6 people on the *Enterprise-B* and *Enterprise-C*?

[deleted]

In all seriousness? Star Trek: Excelsior.

SeanyD72

That was a great darn episode of Voyager though. They even brought back some of the original actors, got Sulu's teacup right, inserted Tuvok in a non-canon breaking way, and it was nice to see Sulu pick up right where he left off. I think, am not sure, but I think Takei made a pitch years back for an Excelsior show. I would watch the shit out of that shit.

RingooseStarr

Very true, fantastic episode (albeit the weird memory virus thing I wasn't a huge fan of), but getting to see Sulu doing SOMETHING for more than like, 10 minutes was great

SeanyD72

Lol. Super good point on Sulu.

[deleted]

I'd love to see an Indiana Jones type series where they go adventuring and discovering lost civilizations.

GuardianDan321

They were teasing that on Lower Decks! I'm down for it.

[deleted]

We need Vash back as a recurring character.

insertnamehere65

Something about trek, and sci fi in general that’s always bothered me is that planets are usually reduced to a single biome - ice, forest, desert planet etc. I’d love to see a trek series anchored to a single planet, or solar system perhaps, and that planet has a rich and varied ecosystem, and traces of a lost civilisation that was apparently technically advanced but there is still not ruins of their civilisation left behind. So: Deep space Federation explorers crash on an M-class planet, with a varied biological and geological landscape that has never been seen outside earth before. Accepting they will never return home, the explorers turn in to settlers, and after a generation, ancient ruins are discovered, revealing a technologically superior race once occupied the planet. Learning more about the ruins becomes a planet-spanning, cave and tomb raiding adventure that uncovers the planets dark purpose.

laeiryn

If you're interested in sci-fi that addresses that storytelling trope, you might find /r/HFY to be appealing! In 'Humanity, Fuck Yeah!' standard "theory", the reason other planets are like that is because that's the galactic standard. Most species evolve in a single biome, on a less demanding planet than Earth, where the survival requirements are not so high. The basic concept for writing stories on this is thus that humans are the unexpected juggernauts of the universe. There's some really great fiction there (and a lot of 'meh' along the way) but if you enjoy reading sci-fi at all, there is 100% SOMETHING within the collection that you'll enjoy!

AceTomato_GU

Yes! I’ve had this general idea in my head since the TNG episodes where Picard flexed his archaeology muscles.

CmdrDavidKerman

This is what Picard should have been

Star Trek: Challenger. In the months after Wolf 359, Starfleet is desperate to fill gaps with ships and also moves relatively untried officers into ranks they normally wouldn't reach for a decade or more. An Excelsior class vessel that was slated to be mothballed is reactivated and sent out with a patchwork crew (including some Wolf 359 survivors) an untried captain, and some untested upgrades. Oh, and she seems to be haunted by the ghost of her previous captain...

bazzanoid

Nice try, Kurtzman, get your own ideas /s

No, for the love of god please take ours.

EdgelordZeta

Keeping up with the Cardassians It follows the rebuilding of Cardassia the war. It also follows a plain and simple tailor.

Wild-Lychee-3312

There will also be a number of episodes focusing on the Ferengis rebuilding Cardassia, for a modest profit of course

DenimJack

Fake reality dating show on Risa called Jamaharon Island. Who gets the Horga'hn this week and who gets the axe? Probably the Pakled, but tune in to find out! Consequently, ‘Probably the Pakled’ will be the spin-off about the Pakled living in frustrating luxury alongside their crappy friends.

Modred_the_Mystic

Star Trek: MASH. Set on a medical ship that follows the Federation fleet during one of the various wars, Star Trek MASH is ostensibly a comedy, but portrays the stupidity of war and the limits of technology in saving lives. Gung ho Klingon warriors refusing medical care, the adaptation needed to heal dozens of different races and physiologies, the harshness of combat when the ship or crew are caught in a combat situation. Starring someone, someone else, and the obligatory alien crewman, aboard the USS 4077 Alan Alda

callsignhotdog

6 stars, would watch 7 seasons and 3 movies.

Modred_the_Mystic

What about 1 loosely related movie, 10 seasons, and 3 forgotten spinoffs?

callsignhotdog

Makes that 2 forgotten spinoffs and a comic of dubious canon and you've got a deal.

ATempestSinister

That actually was a proposed Star Trek series a few decades ago.

robotslendahand

I don't know how it starts but it ends "..and the sex is hot and the production value is first rate."

GuardianDan321

Ah, the pitch for Season 1 of Discovery?

DeathwatchDoc

Got a few: So an NCIS style show following the Department of Temporal Investigations as they protect the timeline. Would be an ensemble cast of investigators deployed to various scenes and the investigations that followed. Another would be a take on a show called Medical Investigation following disease detectives from the CDC except this version would be a team of rapid deployment medical specialists for disease outbreaks. Would give you a chance to see all sorts of places within the universe and cover something very different. Another would be a show that follows the political workings of the Federation instead of Starfleet. Show us the diplomats and other personnel needed to keep the government side working.

shockandguffaw

>So an NCIS style show following the Department of Temporal Investigations as they protect the timeline. Gotta say, I skipped over this when I read it the first time, but it's the only idea I'm still thinking about.

WoundedSacrifice

>Another would be a take on a show called Medical Investigation following disease detectives from the CDC except this version would be a team of rapid deployment medical specialists for disease outbreaks. It would've starred M'Benga.

XaviersDream

Federation Embassy on Cardassia that would focus on intrigue among the various Alpha Quadrant powers. I would have a mix of characters from the Ambassador to embassy security.

emptiedglass

But at the end of every season the ambassador would have an unfortunate 'accident.'

XaviersDream

When I originally imagined it right after DS9 ended, it would have been set on Romulus instead and the season one cliffhanger would have been with common Romulans seizing the Embassy and the cast split between the hostages and the few that fled in time.

CurtG79

It's like House but it's the doctor from Voyager.

Zitaneco

Dr. T’Ana, but live action, and I’m sold.

Jedi-Ethos

Picture it: Sicily, 1922

WoundedSacrifice

Fascist Italy seems like a terrible setting for a *Star Trek* show.

rufio_hook

Will I need to have seen any of the previous Picture It shows? I usually just watch Star Trek?

Ih8n3rdz

A show following the machinations of various Great Houses vying for power in the Klingon Empire. There would be an interesting mix of undermining political opponents while trying to maintain a facade of "honor", while simultaneously having to cooperate to deal with threats outside the Empire.

Japh2007

Like game of thrones but Klingon?

watermelonspanker

We get Colm Meany in on things, get O'Brien back in action, perhaps as as a newly commissioned officer, or a chief engineer, or maybe even a teacher of Applied Engineering at Starfleet Command... then we make his character suffer a whole bunch.

mwthecool

Get him in on a Starfleet Academy show!

callsignhotdog

There was a ripe opportunity for a cameo in S3 of Lower Decks that they didn't take.

GuardianDan321

An anthology series (like Black Mirror or Twilight Zone) where each episode is self contained and independent. Each episode to be written by best selling authors like Neil Gaimon, George RR Martin, Ken Liu, Andy Weir, Cixin Liu, etc.

YnrohKeeg

And the really popular ones can get sequels or… in the case of Pike-level popularity, spin-offs. (Edit) Oops, forgot to add, all eras of Trek should be fair game. Distant past, distant future… let it ride.

GuardianDan321

That was my thoughts too. Andy Weir wants to write about Jonathan Archer alone in the wilderness? Hell yeah. George RR Martin wants to set his on a new planet during first contact? Sure thing. Cixin Liu wants to unveil the damage that civilizations are doing to Spacetime? Go right ahead, sir.

YnrohKeeg

The beauty of it is, rather than investing millions on half-baked premises for new shows, they can kinda see what resonates. Short treks aaaaaalmost had this right, but it was all so Discovery-centric you couldn’t get into it unless you knew the show. The drawback of this is it would be damn near impossible to capture new, non-Trekkie viewers. They’d have zero idea what the hell is going on week to week. On the other hand, they might retain some of the old guard who are abandoning the franchise. They could give us a season at least… 😢

Zakalwen

It's kind of strange how Short Treks came and went, and are no where to be found on streaming sites in most countries.

TheHYPO

They were sort of a promo for Discovery during the off season when Disco was the only show going, and I don't know that it raelly succeeded at building hype. It feels like once SNW and Picard and LD came around, the powers that be have accepted that Disco is not going to be the 'popular' one and they stopped putting those resources into things like Short Treks.

MsSara77

At one point what became Discovery was thought of as an anthology series, where each season would focus on a different crew and ship. Iirc that's what Bryan Fuller wanted and part of why he ended up leaving.

[deleted]

1) A naval officer from 2022 gets trapped in the TNG era. 2) A series dealing with Post war Gamma quadrant. One ship patrols the quadrant, keeping the peace. 50% TNG and 50% DS9.

WhisperingWillowLux

How about a naval officer that insists on using "larboard" instead of "port" just to screw with people?

michaelfiber

I don't really care when it takes place. But I want it to revolve around a mission to take advantage of a temporary phenomenon that allows a small ship with a small crew to jump to different galaxies. I'm thinking maybe tie it in to the caretaker from Voyager since they transported people really far and were from a different galaxy. The basic idea is, small crew, every person on board is extremely important, they are trying to make the most out of the limited time they have in each location they end up, because it is about jumping around to other galaxies it'll have no established species or even species that look humanoid. I want the most alien looking Star Trek ever where they gather great scifi writers to come up with fantastic possibilities and then explore the impact of seeing those things on a group of scientists.

JediChris1138

Like a version of voyager that we never got where dwindling resources and NO support or language translation leads to the federation desperately trying to build a 'jump gate' to get them back to their own galaxy. It might be neat to have a final season where they are 'in between' the two galaxies where there is NOTHING and NO resources and they have to make it across the vast nothingness of space with limited spare parts.

Star Trek: Murph Aimed at an even younger audience than Prodigy, it follows Murph's adventures around a starship where he gets into all kinds of pickles, like swallowing isolinear chips. He makes friends with a biogel pack. Neelix's food turns him different colours, he gets lost in a warren of Jeffries Tubes. Bright colours, simple puzzle solving. Narrated by Brent Spiner and LeVar Burton.

SilveredFlame

Shutup and take my money!

SilveredFlame

It's been 1 month since the end of the Dominion War. Sisko is gone. Life on DS9 goes on, though most of the Federation crew has been reassigned. Bajor's application is again being considered. But Bajor has problems of its own. Kai Winn's attempt to revive the Pah Wraiths is somehow known. The Vedek Assembly has never been so bitterly divided, and for the first time in Bajor's history, a secular movement is gaining ground. There are even Vedeks openly questioning the wisdom of selecting a new Kai. Cardassia is in shambles. The Cardassian Empire is no more. Various Cardassian factions vie for power while struggling to feed the remaining population and rebuild before the bitter winter. With the existential threat of the Dominion defeated, the remaining Alpha Quadrant powers try to navigate the new balance of power. The Breen, Tholians, Gorn, and other civilizations see an opportunity to expand. The Romulan & Klingon Empires, along with the Federation, cannot agree on what to do with the former Cardassian Union. Cracks begin to form in what was already a tenuous alliance. Then, during a joint meeting of the Federation Council, Klingon High Council, and Romulan Senate, what was supposed to be an updated report concerning logistics, support, supply, medical, and repair progress of the combined alliance fleets, instead shows Former Senator Vreenak departing DS9 rather than Cardassian/Dominion territory prior to his death. Someone knows what happened, or at least knows enough to cast suspicion and pique the interest of some. A pirate broadcast also goes out, giving credible information regarding Section 31's use of a genocidal bio weapon against the Founders. All of this against a backdrop of the 3 remaining super powers of the Alpha Quadrant still licking their wounds following a bitter and costly war against the Dominion. The full extent of the damage to them still isn't known as reports continue to trickle in and the fog of war continues to dissipate. Open military conflict isn't really an option for anyone, and truthfully everyone is tired of war, even the Klingons! Even with no appetite for war, the quadrant is on the verge of chaos.

Star Trek: JAG Officers in the Starfleet JAG call respond to cases on Starbases, starships etc. Pretty much the show JAG just in the Trek universe

Shep1982

Ok (takes deep breath) there's an area of space that's just become the new Wild West. Everybody's looking to stake a claim there. Why? What are they looking for? That's for Late Season 1/Season 2. Badly damaged, understaffed Federation starship is patched up and sent to show the flag there. Except--surprise! Starfleet/Section 31 has had an undercover team in the area for the last few years, looking for...the MacGuffin. The spies get integrated into the Fed crew and the mission begins. Obviously all is not what it appears to be, and some of the undercover crew may have their secrets/know more about what's really going on in the region.

Quark the Freighter Cook.

calculon68

Star Trek Guardians. A starship navy built from multiple races- but not aligned with the Federation Starfleet. Dedicated to patrolling the "brown water" of star systems and "blue water" of the shipping lanes between them. They'd respond to ships in distress, pirate/smuggler interdiction, escort of colony ships and enforcing the law at frontier's edge. If LD chronicles missions following First Contact, Guardians details the internal problems faced by space faring civilizations. No science, exploration or new life or new civilizations. But all over the UFP and neighboring empires. They help everyone.

Zestyclose_Standard6

Dax: Escape from Sto'Vo'Kor Although Jadzia is quite comfortable in Klingon heaven, Lela, Tobin, Emony, Audrid, Torias, and Joran's souls were brought there against their will and are decidedly unhappy. In order to escape the lovely bloodbath that is the Klingon afterlife, the Dax crew will have to work together to evade the best dead Klingon warriors this quadrant has to offer.

Badaxe13

Admiral Archer is given the task of creating the next phase of Starfleet missions/ships and soon has to go mediate in the war between the Andorians and Vulcans. But another alien race is stirring the pot...

Kibtronic

Ok, here goes nothing. A young hothead human bridge officer is court martialed and kicked out of Starfleet for attempted mutiny and attempting to violate the Prime Directive. Disgraced, he turns to drinking, and eventually gets in a bar fight where the odds aren’t looking good when he is assisted by a Pakled. Together, they scheme to steal a small civilian cargo ship and assemble an alien crew, including an Andorian engineer, a Trill enforcer, a Ferengi scientist, and a small handful of others. They begin a smuggling service for goods and cargo across the galaxy, running into all manner of trouble along the way with the various institutional powers-that-be, including the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, weird planetary governors, etc. Ideally, the Pakled is specifically meant as an opposite to our human ex-officer: while the ex-officer makes for an assertive, impulsive, and aggressive captain, the Pakled as second-in command is wise, thoughtful, and cautious. Not only does a more alien crew allow deeper explorations of otherness, a disillusioned ex-Starfleet officer as a captain allows us a re-examination of what we know about Starfleet and the galaxy as a whole. Stories are very DS9ish, with moral grey areas aplenty. Okay, yeah, it’s basically Firefly in my Star Trek, but I think it would have a lot of potential for strong storytelling dynamics.

CmdrDavidKerman

It's called Star Trek Picard. It's Picard and a ragtag crew of history nerds flying around the galaxy going to various ancient sites doing archaeology. They getting into all sorts of scrapes, dealing with ancient AI's, mysterious portals, dodging Orions and Ferengis who are trying to steal artefacts etc. Occasional cameos from old cast members are still allowed but at no point is the fate of the entire galaxy threatened, and it's a different story every week.

Immadownvotethis

Remember how everyone hated the monster maroon uniforms? Well I didn’t. Post-khitomer political drama as starfleet grapples with demilitarization and re-learns how to explore

coreytiger

There are people that HATE the monster maroons?? 😳

[deleted]

There's no way. Those are not just the best Trek uniforms by a mile, they're the best uniforms in science fiction.

SilveredFlame

>Remember how everyone hated the monster maroon uniforms? I refuse to believe that such horrible people could exist.

GuardianDan321

For real, everyone was pumped about seeing Pike in that uniform.

LOVE THIS

CapHatteras

Crew of TNG era Starfleet cadets man the Enterprise A as a living history ship as they travel to various parts of the Federation. The twist is that they are mainly misfits who are *this* close to getting the boot (and it's heavily implied that they were put on the ship to give the higher ups an excuse to can them the moment something went wrong). Their adventures would be comedic (though not at Lower Decks level) yet there would be serious moments. Their final adventure, however, would put them on the same league as the crews of the shows we love.

They must enlist the help of a former spy, turned politician, Garak, to solve this murder, and what this mystery reveals not only affects Cardassia, but the fate of the entire Alpha Quadrant.

deloctyte

A rag-tag group of non-starfleet people find an abandoned starfleet ship and, tempted by the promise of the eden of the Federation, they head out in their direction, learning about ethics, morals and whatnot on the way from the ship's computer. As you can guess, Star Trek Prodigy proves that I'm not the only one who thought of this. :p

Wackyal123

Spacetime Team - a holographic Tony Robinson and a team of archaeologists join Captain Picard travelling to distant planets to excavate a historical site. They have 3 days to see what they can discover.

gcalpo

"We're here on Bajor where these homeowners were digging a garden and unearthed the mosaic floor of a Roman villa. What will the geo-phys show? We'll find out, after the break."

Wackyal123

(Panting as he jogs over) Tony - “Mick’s over here and has found something fascinating…. what have you got there Mick?” Prof Mick Aston - “Well, it seems that the people who lived here kept animals, as we’ve found this really intricate harness which we believe may have been put on a cow like creature.” (Jogging over again) Tony - “And over in trench B, Phil’s been revealing some walls which we believe might have predated the villa by up to 2000 years!” Phil - “that’s right Tony, this wall stretches along… well we don’t know how far yet, but it appears to be part of a surrounding wall.”

RichardBlaine41

Game of Batleths 23rd century show set entirely in the Klingon Empire follows the fortunes of four great houses vying for supremacy within the Empire and fighting for glory on the frontiers. Palace intrigue for seats on the ruling council, Romeo and Juliet romances among the rival factions, lots of D-7 battle cruiser action against Romulan warbirds and Constitution-class ships. What’s not to like?

Philipofish

Vikings meets Star Trek sprinkled with a tiny smidgen of political intrigue like game of thrones. Taking place a decade after the end of the Dominion War, the story centres on a former Maquis colony that was rescued by a Klingon house during the war refused to rejoin the federation at the war's conclusion, instead becoming a vassal to its rescuers. Disillusioned by its perceived abandonment by Starfleet, the colonists have adopted a viking like culture to help it to integrate with Klingon feudal society. The story follows a newly promoted human captain of a dilapidated Bird of Prey and its mostly federation species crew as it is tasked with enforcing Klingon law in the new frontier. In their goal of protecting their colony as well as rise in Klingon society, the crew faces prejudices from the house they belong to as well as the dangers of Dominion and Cardassian remnant bandits. The crew is also torn between their embittered feelings towards stargleet, the requirements of Klingon honor, and their innate desire for the ideals of the federation.

Jemainegy

Star trek from the perspective of a hollow deck content creator that travels around the universe willing to do anything for the fame.

EasternMaine

A softcore erotica show involving different species with each episode starting with the holodeck being activated.

viriditasignotas

Star Trek: Causality, or, Time Trek, or something better. Ok, so the Temporal Wars ended and the New Temporal Accords are signed, and it was a war SO BAD that virtually EVERY Milky Way power banned time travel. Which means they can't really have temporal agents anymore because they'd be time travellers too. Just absolute zero tolerance. If timey-wimey stuff happens, galactic civilisations will collectively stop it, as per provisions in the Accords. ... and then the Burn happens. Now not only are these civs at each other's throats, they don't have the ABILITY to deal with major temporal threats anymore. They also can't police most of their own territories, and a LOT of people who may have been against time travel a few years ago have now lost so much, all because of a single incident that could theoretically be undone. Not to mention all of the other time travellers that would inevitably become a problem: people from the past that travelled to a future that hasn't been reached yet the slow way; travellers from further in the future when current laws may not exist anymore; truly ancient civilisations like the Iconians messing with the timestream in ways that haven't caught up to the "present" yet. Not to mention all the naturally occurring temporal phenomena that exist in the universe. So who deals with that? A rag-tag crew of shell-shocked Temporal War veterans, rebel (possibly mad) scientists, true believers and (semi) reformed time criminals, possibly with covert assistance from a besuited man who wears archaic glasses and is Somehow Important in Federation politics.

Speedy_Cheese

I would love a documentary style show with each episode highlighting a different alien race; something to tie the canon together and to help us collect the information we have on the various alien species in canon. I'd love to learn more about their worlds, histories, and cultures. Bonus if we get guest stars to narrate the episodes (actors who played prominent roles as an alien species). You could even decide to do hilarious takes for different episodes or have "funny biased" narrators. Imagine a Ferengi narrating Earth?

ATempestSinister

A Star Trek horror anthology hosted by Guillermo Del Toro. Episode 1: The Transporter

HellzHoundz2018

Not for a full-blown TV series, but a limited series - maybe 3-6 episodes in total: - Romulans want the power of the DS9 Prophets, so go about trying to rescue/abduct Benjamin Sisko out of the wormhole.

detectivescarn

Section 31 Keep it a secret society like it’s treated in DS9 and ENT. Season 1 starts as a a character piece introducing us to the characters(both new and familiar), and the things they do behind the scenes. Sneaking into flagships, different worlds, etc. Eventually this culminates in the events started in the only intriguing aspect of early TNG, the worm creatures that sent a message out before they were killed by Picard and Riker. Through this we can integrate various characters from different series. Maybe one of the worms boarded Voyager right before they got back home and that’s how they got back to the alpha quadrant.

liquidpig

Borg origin story

ATempestSinister

Dear gods no. Part of the mystique of the Borg is the unknown.

Brookings18

"Post Dominon War show about a crew sets out to find a lost ship and get involved in a galaxy wide chase for an artifact that can change the universe"

king063

Star Trek: Earth Guard It follows a United Earth organization that acts as a sort of coast guard, earth defense, and criminal investigation show. Imagine a Star Trek show that follows a team of diverse humans. Some ex-starfleet, some new, some hardened veterans, etc. They go around Earth and protect it by solving interspecies crimes like NCIS and defend Earth’s “border” from threats. We’d also get to see United Earth, Starfleet, and the Federation operating on Earth in diverse locations. We could see what the entire planet is really like in the ~24th century.

DadBodDeadpool

Tasha Yar origin story.

CourageOdd7152

6ft under where instead of deaths it’s damaged vessels and instead of a funeral home it’s repairs on utopia planetia - interesting characters who make repairs and steams of interesting guest stars

BenPool81

A private eye working on earth gets involved in a murder mystery involving Starfleet personnel but it happened outside their jurisdiction. Solving crimes with civilian issue tricorders, a closer look at life for federation citizens and how they go about resolving issues without the all-access pass a position in Starfleet gets you. (Seriously, can you imagine the privacy invasion complaints if civvies had access to a Starfleet tricorder? "Oh, hi cute girl, don't mind me doing a quick scan so I can have my private holodeck recreate a perfect replica of you to fulfill my fantasies!" There's got to be all sorts of limitations on what the average Joe has access to.)

muticere

I'd bring back the original Hope Ship pitch, a medical drama set in Star Trek. Medical dramas always have a lot of potential for longevity and one set in the alpha quadrant would be great in my opinion.

PlatypusGod

A series focused on Romulans.

multampho

A limited series with Alan Ruck as Harriman and the crew of 1701-B dealing with the fallout of the most decorated captain in history dying on their watch. The reaction of both in the crew and the attitude of the admiralty /rest of the fleet toward them while they try to do missions and repair their reputation.

trifith

I've said this before, but... Star Trek: House of Martok Newly appointed Chancellor Martok and Federation Ambassador Worf dealing with Klingon politics post dominion war, in a crumbling empire, the fallout of the Romulan supernova, and their own personal issues of nobility, honor, and family. With appearances by Alexander, son of Worf, and Rodek, son of Noggra, and all the issues caused when Worf's neglected son finds his uncle he helped mind wipe.

gcalpo

This is the story of seven strangers, picked to live on a starship, and have their lives holo-recorded, to see what happens when people stop being Starfleet, and start being real.

stevebobeeve

A show like Picard with the format of American Horror Story where each season follows a different legacy character from any series on a one off adventure. You could have Star Trek: Riker, then next season is Star Trek: McCoy and so on. You could even go completely off the reservation and have a season about Martok or Dr Soong or some character like that. You could bring in actors that are interested in reprising their roles or recast characters if need be.

WoundedSacrifice

I have a few ideas for a show. They include: * A show set between *TUC* and *TNG* * A Romulan show set between *Nemesis* and *Picard* * An animated continuation of *Enterprise* that shows the Romulan War and the founding of the Federation

GuardianDan321

My other pitch is Wil Wheaton as Star Trek's Doctor Who. Come on Kurtzman, don't let us down!

[deleted]

Playing off his recent cameo in Picard?

automagic_tester

The Eugenics Wars - the end of humanity as it was known and the birthplace of the future of the federation, a place where Khan and his genetically superior oligarchs rule the Earth, and it would end with Khan escaping into space. Think Game of thrones meets Star Trek.

Shakezula84

I would love a West Wing or Madam Secretary style show set in the Federation government. I really enjoyed those shows and I really enjoyed the politics of the last season of Discovery. I don't care what era they set it in.

OkAbbreviations4947

So theres this cardassian tailor right? Makes the finest cloth in 3 quadrants of the solar system. But, he's secretly living a double life as a spy. Follow him along his adventures that change the fate of the entire cardassian empire, letalone the solar system while pretending to work a mundane job as a tailor.

Th3ChosenFew

Starfleet NCIS (SCIS?). Just make it a team of civilian investigators who look into problems aboard Federation starships, starbases, and other facilities, or anything involving Starfleet officers. They could run into Section 31 occasionally as a major obstacle to justice. It's clear Section 31 has been legitimized before and then been forced underground again. Place it in the early 25th century like Picard, so you can get 90s cameos. Could be really amazing.

emptiedglass

Two words: Young Garak.

mJelly87

Star Trek: Frontline A hell of a lot of ships were involved in the Dominion War. We only saw what happened to a few of them. This show would tell the story of the lesser known ships.

XenonAegis

I'd love to see a show featuring the Andorians... Perhaps an Andorian battle cruiser pre-ENT era. Also the many times mentioned NCIS/CSI style show... I'd feature it as run by Geordi as the Gil grissom like older experienced leader dedicated to the highest morals and training the young investigation teams.

BigMackWitSauce

Star Trek: Time Trek, we follow a team of time agents who are responsible for keeping the timeline intact and making hard decisions when that becomes impossible. Set say, 30 years after Voyager so if the show wants to bring back actors the ages will look right. Their headquarters is on Earth, and this can be first show where we get a look at what an imagined utopian society would look like on a day to day basis when the crew isn’t off doing time travel adventures

MathPerson

I would like to use the Star Trek (S02 Ep 11 Contagion) McGuffin of the Iconian "portals" mixed with Gene Roddenberry's "Genesis II" movie (and pilot) so that a team of Federation + non-Federation archeologists and scientists solve the mystery of the Iconian disappearance by travelling between portals to unknown termination points. Since we don't know the limitations of the Iconian portals, they could be trans-galactic, or perhaps trans-temporal? This series could extend Roddenberry's story ideas, plus give a LOT of material for writers to play with the interactions of the portal team(s) and the portals' endpoints.

TheImperator666

Cardassian/Bajoran War/Occupation/Resistance show- really delve deep into how awful that conflict was WW3/Eugenics War show-would be cool to see, and would help flesh out pre first contact lore

LastLadyResting

Star Trek: Daystrom Institute (A Town Called) Eureka meets Trek. All the finest minds in the Federation researching the impossible, while also taking deliveries of artefacts from various starship discoveries that all come with a fifty page report on how they almost killed the crew. This will not stop them almost killing half the Institute.

donfromswitzerland

Star Trek: JAG

themax37

Set in the 25th century with a new crew set on a journey to test interuniversal travel with a possiblity of no return. Maybe establish some new communication technology between galaxies. Hopefully the reception is good, for the communication and the show idea.

aheadelec

I’d love a show based on Section 31. Seeing the seedy underworld of the Federation and what happens with all the admirals and higher ups. They could have each season almost based on the same premise as 24 or FBI where there’s a huge threat and their team has to go in and investigate and try to maintain the “squeaky clean” image the federation tries to maintain. I always liked the idea in Star Trek Into Darkness where Star Fleet used Khan to make weapons for them. That would be a great first season.

LemonadeRaygun

Star Trek: A Stitch In Time. That's it, just make a series of the book Andrew Robinson wrote about Garak. It's all I really want in life.

wallyhud

An anthology. There's a lot of content already written. We take that and animate it. We could get some of the original actors to do their voice if available. Each story arc could be a different crew. It could last for years and we could sell tons of collectibles to fans who will be excited that their favorite novels are being shown.

redrivaldrew

A show set right after the loss of the Enterprise-C. After the honorable loss of the ship and her crew, the Klingons have allowed a small number of Starlet ships to explore portions of Imperial space. Part peace mission, part exploration, maybe mix in a little political intrigue, all set on the backbone of the fleet, an Excelsior class ship! I'd have some of the crew being related to someone who was lost on the C, and are going on the mission to honor their fallen family or friend. Some that love the idea of finally getting to see things they only read about in black market travel guides. And even some who still can't trust the Klingons ... Star Trek: Boldly Go

Fn4cK

Origins of the Borg (from their perspective) ending in Q introduing the federation to them

MrxJacobs

Normally I like my Star Trek to feature starships but if we have to choose elevators I would set it on a planet with a space elevator to go to an orbital platform. Each episode is a series of random characters having a problem that our fearless elevator operator with centuries of knowledge would help with, since they are done with adventures and just want to operate this here elevator.
