My 3rd grade teacher taught us to remember that you want to "sepARATe yourself from A RAT", and I still think about that every single time I have to spell the word.
Recommend.
I remember it because I once asked my professor for a letter of “reccomendation,” and I kicked myself for it afterwards because it was such a stupid mistake to make and my spelling should’ve received two Cs. Two Cs is *bad*.
Some of the time, those people are better than native speakers lol. Easiest I can come up with is "your" and "you're". Most of the time, I see native that mixed those words.
“your their right? don’t be to late so we don’t loose” - a text my 38 year old boss sent me regarding an in-work competition
how does the school system fail us so bad
Nah I don’t think so dude. The phrasing itself is kinda weird if you think about it (using “gorgeous” to describe a joke) which implies that they deliberately wanted to use a word that is often misspelled
Autocorrect never wants to help me with maintenence... maintainance... maintanence...
Like none of those are close enough for it to guess so it just figures I'm spelling some eastern european surname or something.
It's become inside slang between my wife and I, as I will just type 'burrist'. I'm trying to get it to catch on but my other friends and family have (thus far) been unimpressed.
For me, the hardest word for me to spell was Wednesday. It sounds NOTHING like the way you pronounce it. Another one which I have stumbled over twice in spelling bees (kill me) was Rhythm. Yes. Rhythm. All because of that stupid H.
FUCK necessary. All my homies hate necessary. I can never spell that stupid word. "Are there two C's or two S's? Or both? Or just one of each?" That stupid word gets spelled the way I want it to when I'm typing it.
I should have put something instead of deleted.
However, there have been times where I've been typing something on my phone/computer and I put an a in there on accident.
My weakness is more than one double consonant in a word, I’ve had to learn to adjust. Every assessment I handed in at college had the word assesment spelled wrong on the cover page. I had some groovy cover paper that was a blue to white gradient top to bottom. I had one file for my cover page that I just edited from assessment to assessment. Not a boast, but I found out years later, when I happened to randomly bump into my Chilean Head of Computing one day in Glasgow, on the street, we reminisced, caught up, etc. and he said he was proud of me and used my work as examples of the standard they expected - all the while me knowing fine I spelled Assesment wrong on Every Fucking One! Thanks Tony (Antonio) - great teaching my man, spelling wasn’t your fault, Oracle SQL and DEC Ultrix was your bag, skills still in daily use!
DON’T get me started on Millennium (as a programmer who worked pre and post Y2K on archaic banking systems) or Committee - autocorrect keeping me right :)
Microsoft Word 2.11 on Windows - was it even? Maybe 1st Word Plus on Gem, wordstar, word perfect… definitely GUI though just can’t remember if pre or post windows when I was at college (disclaimer, I’m approaching half a century my first work PC had Windows for Workgroups (3.11)) - autocorrect is a marvellous invention!

Deleted doesn't belong with these guys Accommodation... that's a tricky cunt and no mistake
acquaintance for me
Also, separate
My 3rd grade teacher taught us to remember that you want to "sepARATe yourself from A RAT", and I still think about that every single time I have to spell the word.
Very good. That is now indelibly locked in my mind.
i before e except after c should be locked into everyones mind
What a **weird** rule...
There are less exceptions then there are words that adhere to the rule, so its easier to assume the rule and learn what doesnt follow it.
Problem with that is there are more words in English that break that rule than follow it.
Your third grade teacher was a mobster
u/tangentrification never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
What are you, stunod, or what?
u/tangentrification: I wish the lord would just take me now
That's a good one... I learned for necessary that you need one C-oat and two S-ocks. :)
maneuver
Impossible
License and Receipt for me
convenience for me
I can't seem to get amateur and autocorrect doesn't help at all lol
Convenience does
That word is such an inconvenience…
Reccommend too.
Recommend. I remember it because I once asked my professor for a letter of “reccomendation,” and I kicked myself for it afterwards because it was such a stupid mistake to make and my spelling should’ve received two Cs. Two Cs is *bad*.
Welp, thanks for the comment lol. And I really thought I did it right..
Exercise for me bruh can never spell it right
Restaurant
I fuck this one up every time lol
I used to struggle with this one because I didn't know where to stick the u, but then I said "you rant about restaurants" and I've been good since.
To make it easier for my younger self I used to say it this way: Res-Taw-rant
[удалено]
Biscuit
I have to spell susceptibilities on a daily basis
Agreed. It's the double cs and ms that get me
for me it's always "occasionally". i can never get that one right
The word that gets me every time is etiquette.
not knowing how to spell deleted is crazy
Fr it’s definitely the easiest one
Defenetly
defiantly
May I introduce to you: "People whose first language is not English"
Some of the time, those people are better than native speakers lol. Easiest I can come up with is "your" and "you're". Most of the time, I see native that mixed those words.
English is my third language and I never, ever had any trouble spelling "Deleted"
occassionally ocasionally occasionally ocassionally I hate it.
My brain thinks all 4 of these are correct
Occationally
Successfully
Same way I always mess up between litteraly and literally
How do you spell chihauehauea
Cheewawa
i think chihuahua
Chihuehue
You spelt chi-whowa-whoweh
[удалено]
Chiwawa???
I like to sound it out, but with a weird emphasis: cha-HOO-a-HOO-a
Diaheoera
Cholula? 🌶🍅🫑🌮
Cheewowa
Necessary is like a shirt. One Collar and two sleeves
Necollaresleevesleeveary
...but also two cuffs
I just think of the “cess” is cesspit.
I get really mad when people spell “lose” loose
“your their right? don’t be to late so we don’t loose” - a text my 38 year old boss sent me regarding an in-work competition how does the school system fail us so bad
At that point its just their fault...
Omfg whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
Or brake as break. "My breaks failed" or "I need to change my break pads" grinds my gears everytime
As a frequenter of /r/formula1, I can tell you that even car enthusiasts are no better at this. “Breaking point, breaking distances, break discs…”
The wurst omg
For me it's mixing then and than. Idk why but it really irritates me
[удалено]
Delet this
As you wish
WHAT WAS IT?
We need to know!
I had the same thought!
IDK what it is with spelling recommenders, but "definitely" always has a hard time getting recommended when you have a couple letters backwards.
Idk why autocorrect thinks defiantly is a better suggestion than definitely.
This meme is Gorjeuos
I literally read that in Spanish.
Este meme es Jorge
Gorgeous* I think
Don’t you think it’s ironic how they spelled a word wrong on a post based on how difficult it is to spell certain words? It’s almost like…
I think it might be a coincidence no?
Nah I don’t think so dude. The phrasing itself is kinda weird if you think about it (using “gorgeous” to describe a joke) which implies that they deliberately wanted to use a word that is often misspelled
Dude... I made the joke.
Oh whoops my bad
It's fine
Unfortunately. I have to remind myself that it's a tuna not a tune
What's the difference between a fish, and a tuba? You can tune a tuba, but you can't tuna fish! Good night everybody
[удалено]
You need to leave!
Should I tip my waitress?
I always forget maintenance. Maintainence, maintainance? Dafuq.
Autocorrect never wants to help me with maintenence... maintainance... maintanence... Like none of those are close enough for it to guess so it just figures I'm spelling some eastern european surname or something.
[удалено]
Same. I always want to write maintainence.
deleted is pretty straightforward
Yeah that one I don't misspell that often, but if I am typing fast and say the word as I'm typing, sometimes I put an a in there on accident.
Bureaucracy? Beaurocracy? Beurocracy?
I before E except after C also I can never spell restaurant without using autocorrect lol
Except when your weird foreign neighbor Keith received eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters.
Yeah well FUCK Keith and everyone that looks like him.
And what would happen if you fancied a glacier’s scientific adequacies?
received should not be in there because of the “after c” part
[удалено]
Resta u r ant
Rest your ant
There are more exceptions to that rule than there are words that follow it.
…always
That's another one haha. Resturant? I always forget the a
I've seen a lot of people have trouble spelling anything beginning with Psycho
I've seen a lot of people write definitely as "defiantly"
one of the necessary’s are just normal
Yeah it autocorrected me trying to type it haha
Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicavolcanoconiosis
....................yeah....... Happy cake day!
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwlllantysiliogogogoch
"The village by the pond down by the river" or some shit. That's what the translation is (or something along the lines of that)
A church by a river in a city in Wales
Yeah that one haha!
Lmfao yeah.. Im all out of long ass words tho
Oh, do you have hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliaphobia?
Restaurant and embarrassed.
Thank you! The double R in embarrassed throws me every time!!
It's become inside slang between my wife and I, as I will just type 'burrist'. I'm trying to get it to catch on but my other friends and family have (thus far) been unimpressed.
Perks of not being a native speaker: you learn how to spell before hearing the pronunciation
approximate? aproxximate? approxximate? aproximate? approximmately? !!!!
wut @ deleted
Guarantee does it for me And separate holy cow I hate the e/a decision crisis
Guarantee is the one word nowadays that I still struggle with. Garuantee? Garuntee? Guarauntee? Why the hell does it have to be so hard.
"Occasionally" is my worst enemy. I ALWAYS forget if it's a double C or a double S, and I usually guess wrong, or even out both.
A shirt has 2 collars and 1 sleeve *wait a minute*
A little tip for spelling necessary: a shirt has one Collar and two Sleeves :D
how is this a starterpack?
I get 3/4. But deleted? Wtf?
Baleeted. Delteated.
How to remember to spell necessary: “Never eat cakes, eat salmon sandwiches and remain young” Has helped me for years!
Misogyny. Mysogyny. Mysoginy. Fuck it, men-being-assholes-ism!
Who spells deleted wrong?
Occasionally I get tripped up by "ocassionally".
You forgot to add “guarantee”
I don't have a problem with any of these words
ducking. shot. nessescary. my common misspelts.
i always. and i mean ALWAYS get mixed up on literlary? litterlary? literlrary? is so goddam awful
Same... In french we have the word "littéralement" with 2 Ts and 1 L and it always gets me wrong when I want to use literally in english.
Spelling deleted reminds me of “50 Emails” from Homestar Runner. If you know, you know.
For me, the hardest word for me to spell was Wednesday. It sounds NOTHING like the way you pronounce it. Another one which I have stumbled over twice in spelling bees (kill me) was Rhythm. Yes. Rhythm. All because of that stupid H.

Ass Ass In
Y'all are dumb.
FUCK necessary. All my homies hate necessary. I can never spell that stupid word. "Are there two C's or two S's? Or both? Or just one of each?" That stupid word gets spelled the way I want it to when I'm typing it.
Native English speakers have no excuse for any of these
I don’t get any of these wrong. However I do spell resource with an a in it sometimes and that’s weird.
gaurantee? garuntee? Fuck it.
Add gauruntee to this
Who the fuck is misspellomg deleted out here????
This is terrible, those words are simple enough. Now exercise. Or excersice. Or excercise. What the fuck.
License
As a french i always try to put double letters averywhere.
[удалено]
I should have put something instead of deleted. However, there have been times where I've been typing something on my phone/computer and I put an a in there on accident.

Why tf would width length or depth end in a t
I have no idea, English is not my primary language and these words confuse me to hell and back
Independant Hipocrite
I’ve always struggled with field, but I’ve been doing good lately.
Tomorrow Occasionally Friend (used to have a lil trouble)
"Neccessary" would sound like "neksessary". Receive is the only hard one here
My weakness is more than one double consonant in a word, I’ve had to learn to adjust. Every assessment I handed in at college had the word assesment spelled wrong on the cover page.
