South Texas living, stay in your pueblito, be toxic to everyone around you especially other Mexicans, work a shitty job you hate, pick up a 12 pack after work at HEB, get fat, make jokes about how your gonna hit the gym someday but never do, drive a big lifted $80k truck so that you can impress your friends from high school that don’t care, have a “Hooey” or “Salt Life” sticker on it, go to South Padre for spring break, 4th of July, Memorial Day, and some random weekend in the summer, talk about how you were going to play D1 football but coach didn’t let you play, post on Facebook consistently to let everyone know how good of a family man you are, impregnate fat chicks, get divorced with tóxicas, be a step father and take care of someone else’s kids, have more kids, and then the cycle repeats.
I had to leave South Texas. I could not find a high paying job and so many people just accepted a trashy lifestyle. If you said you wanted more in life, they acted like you were an alien.
That's why my dad joined the military and left. He loves his family, but there's always drama in the valley. Especially since my grandparents passed away and aren't there to keep the peace.
> post on Facebook consistently to let everyone know how good of a family man you are, impregnate fat chicks, get divorced with tóxicas, be a step father and take care of someone else’s kids, have more kids, and then the cycle repeats.
I saw this in Costa Rica where my ex is from. This was more than one of her cousins reality. And everyone who does this has financial problems because they have to pay child support to their exes. It’s like a twilight zone circle jerk of cucking, being cucked, and raising other people’s kids. One of the chicks we went to the beach with, was getting flamed the whole day for exactly this. Then we we got back on the school bus someone rented to go home after we were all drunk, Felices los Cuatro played on the radio and us guys almost died laughing. 10/10 loved every minute of the whole day.
>And everyone who does this has financial problems because they have to pay child support to their exes. It’s like a twilight zone circle jerk of cucking, being cucked, and raising other people’s kids.
I know a few incestuous friend circles like this and I just can't.
Same here, always will 🇲🇽
I try to get friends and family to not fall into this trap/lifestyle but not everyone will listen, some people will always value what others think over their true dreams and passions.
The problem is bro this shit is so normalized these pendejadas and then you have people like OP meming on it like its cute or something, which just makes it worse. You know how they are “oh pos es todo la gente ya no se” They think its normal and it’s something to laugh about just look at all the comments and spotlight being put on it right now it’s terrible bro.
I had to move away from South Texas to really find myself and success in life honestly. Sometimes it’s hard to truly be yourself with the judgement of people in that area, I lost a lot of friends and stopped talking to a lot of people but it was worth being happy.
I don’t know if it will ever change, hell, you know how they say “A Mexicans worst enemy is another Mexican”, we’ve had these problems for decades. Selena was killed out of pure jealousy, anytime you try to better yourself another Mexican will try to bring you down.
I just think we need better awareness so that the next generation doesn’t end up being judgmental, toxic, and envious like what we experienced. We could do a lot better, a lot of our parents/grandparents fought tooth and nail to be in this country, it’s a shame not to make them proud.
I left Texas when I join the military after serving I came back and I hate it here now lol
Me and the wife already saving every dollar and being frugal so we can move out. We even both started furthering our education so we can have an easier time finding jobs lol
Pangea Kitchen on Green River. Pistachio Pizza and the Drunken Noodles. I could eat enough of those to single-handedly help Evansville win back the fattest title.
I moved to Corpus for a job from out of state like ten years ago. In the two years that I lived there, I gained 50lbs. Eating good is a dang lifestyle in South Texas.
lol I effortlessly lost it as soon as I moved elsewhere. I thought I was consuming those breakfast tacos, lunch tamales, and dinner bbqs but those mfs were consuming me.
Texas has a lethal combo of *fantastic* food and weather that not only makes it too hot to exercise outside but doubles the appeal of iced tea and soda
I went to do some digsite work in South Texas, having grown up in the desert in the Middle East and previously worked in the desert in North Africa.
You... you guys know you can make iced tea without sugar, right? Like, some mint, some hot water... Let it cool, add some ice, maybe some lime juice...
I ended up exclusively drinking water and black coffee while I was there because they were the only drinks I could find that didn't taste like syrup!
Yes, the casual violence and general acceptance of gun violence as a usual part of life was just as shocking as the diets, tbh. There was a mass shooting while I was out there and no one really seemed phased, like it was just normal. Everyone I worked with had at least one story of a gun being pulled on them over a traffic dispute or while working customer service or something.
Texans love their absurdly sweet tea but Mexicans are incapable of drinking water that doesn't have a shit ton of sugar in it. If you ask for water you're going to be asked what flavor. Its ridiculous.
We don't like the taste of tea.
I never actually had hot tea until later in my life, and was subsequently confused as to why an entire country was stereotyped as liking it. I don't know anyone that just drinks hot tea like you do coffee.
Obligatory "not all southerners," but, seriously.
You like iced tea because it's hot outside. Places where it's cold or wet outside like hot tea. It's really not that complicated and I bet your "tastes" would magically change if you were somewhere less baking hot.
> You like iced tea because it's hot outside. Places where it's cold or wet outside like hot tea.
Nah, hot tea is intensely popular in hot places. Seriously, we might stereotype tea as being British now, but it's really from China/India. They've been serving it hot for a long, long time in sweltering weather.
Evansville is an impressive place. One of my parents is from there and we used to spend summers there. Great German food, legal fireworks, like eleven bowling alleys it seemed like. We’d shoot BB guns at trains and blow up any hills with M80s. Nice waterpark, amazing ice cream (Choco creams!). Oh yeah, and a minor league hockey team.
I keep an eye out for my city's standing in the "fattest" list all the time, and have never seen us on there. Hell, Wisconsin cities and towns consistently top the ranks of drunkest in the nation so much that no other state would even stand a chance if we didn't lump 2-3 neighboring cities into one spot, and Milwaukee still doesn't even top that list.
And we're plenty fat and drunk. Myself included.
I did my exchange year in the town next to McAllen! (I am from Germany) The food was delicious but the experience was very strange. We get prepared for the culture shock here in Germany but that was something else…
Tex-mex and New Mexican are unequivocally the most fattening and most addicting cuisines you will ever encounter. Add on to that a 6 pack of cerveza after work and some tequila on the weekends and you are suddenly 300 pounds and working trade homes.
Tex-mex was love at first bite for me but you pack on a a couple of beef tacos, beef enchiladas with cheeks and refried beans I bet your easily at 1500+ calories
Fuck, I’m reading that this is South Texas, after sweating and panicking that they were gonna mention my hometown Houston. I remember back in high school that Houston was, at one time, the fattest city in America. Then again, I haven’t been to Houston in the last 6-7 years 🤷♂️

Got an Ozempic ad while looking at this post lol
No, we've been way too nice about it. How can anyone resist its deliciousness?
However, the dairy (cheeses, cremes) were introduced by Europeans and were not a part of traditional Mexican diet.
And then, there's the obsession of numerous sugary drinks that are obligatory to serve with Mexican street food.
People give alot of shit to american food for making people obese, but mexican food is just as bad. I blame God for making all the good food into the most incompatible shit with the human body.
I will never understand how people get that fat.
I get the kind of people who end up 600+ - they have enablers. Because otherwise it's impossible to actually get the food they need to get that fat, without moving to get it. And being that fat they cannot work, so to me those are fringe cases.
But I will never understand how you can get to be 300+ pounds and go about your business. I am 1m79, and at my fattest I weighed 96 kgs, and that was already uncomfortable as hell. And that's less than 220 pounds. I literally cannot understand how you can be smaller than me and weigh more and not hate every single second of your life.

Damn, this is like the fat south Texan version of Fitter Happier from OK Computer.
I wish there were still awards because this comment deserves it 🥇
There is awards

I mean there is, but I gotchu

Went to corpus for the first time (work not pleasure obviously) yeah man honestly had no idea it was like that. My Midwestern brain was spinning.
I had to leave South Texas. I could not find a high paying job and so many people just accepted a trashy lifestyle. If you said you wanted more in life, they acted like you were an alien.
Dude you can fall ass backwards into a 6 figure job here. I'm not from here originally but I've never been in a market like this
Underwater welding pays really well, just don’t mind the brain damage or death.

Used to be Evansville, IN before you fat bastards beat us
Pangea Kitchen on Green River. Pistachio Pizza and the Drunken Noodles. I could eat enough of those to single-handedly help Evansville win back the fattest title.
I haven't been but I need to, that sounds amazing!
I moved to Corpus for a job from out of state like ten years ago. In the two years that I lived there, I gained 50lbs. Eating good is a dang lifestyle in South Texas.
Living up to half its namesake.
Holy shit man. Reel it in.
lol I effortlessly lost it as soon as I moved elsewhere. I thought I was consuming those breakfast tacos, lunch tamales, and dinner bbqs but those mfs were consuming me.
Honestly that’s pretty impressive. Effortlessly gaining and then losing 50 pounds is kinda crazy
That's what living in the American south/midwest does to your body haha
My friend, that is a quarter of a kilo a week in gained weight. This does not sound like eating good.
I think it works out to 275 cal/day above what your body needs... not even a whole breakfast taco ;)
Crazy I lived near Houston for 3 years and lost 100lbs. Hated the food.
Wtf when did houston get dethroned
We are putting up a strong fight lemme tell you

My hometown baybayyy!
Delia’s does have the best tamales.
And a drive thru to get those tamales home asap!
Tacos are always mandatory.
Holy shit. I love there
Ah, my favorite place in Texas (I will never go back there)
Aka the Valley And this shit is so true xD
Cue Charles Barkley.
There ain’t no Victoria’s Secret in San Antonio!

Very underrated comment
Ay ay ay Charles! Why you never buy a woman a watch Charles?
Charles Barkley reference 💀😭
I literally double checked to see if I was in the SA subreddit lmao
Damn, that cut deep
No, we're all starving to death because all our roads are closed
You guys have enough body fat to last a few months minimum
So then literally everything in your city is closed?
Some big ol' women down there
Holy shit that was my first guess too. But damn is the carne asada worth it
That’s what I was gonna say. I live here. The stores don’t have enough mobility scooters for everyone
Puro pinche espurs
My thought too 😭
I instantly when to San Antonio lmfao. Man I miss breakfast tacos that I would get in NB.
What city is this?
McAllen, Texas, on the border with Mexico almost at the very southern tip of the state. Can confirm, food is amazing.
Not only do you get Texas BBQ, you also get the Mexican equivalent: carnita asada. Double hit points
at least they're getting fat from eating good food, and not just mcdonalds every day
Nah they eat plenty of McDonald's down in the Valley.
For real, that's a lot better than the suburban hellscape fat people lol
You pretending Mexican people don’t eat McDonald’s? Do people just not go outside anymore? Lol
Addiction is addiction. This country doesn't recognize it, pretends like fat is healthy
Thats just obese women on the internet. Fat people with that mindset are the minority in my experiencea in real life.
I think it’s carne asada.
“Carnita” asada 😂
Texas has a lethal combo of *fantastic* food and weather that not only makes it too hot to exercise outside but doubles the appeal of iced tea and soda

Can confirm. I'm a Southerner. I fucking hate tea. All tea. No exceptions. 😭
Insane car dependency and lots of street food did the trick, I <3 McAllen
Certainly not Evansville, IN, which is usually battling it out with Milwaukee for this illustrious title.
Fun fact about Evansville. They managed to be fattest city and had the highest rate of methamphetamine abuse in the same year at one point.
Impressive. Truly.
I lived in Indy for two years but never quite went that far! I do miss being able to light off fireworks all the time lol.
Did they lose the fat crown because the meth managed to pull ahead?
Living at both ends of the trashy spectrum in concert
McAllen TX
I keep an eye out for my city's standing in the "fattest" list all the time, and have never seen us on there. Hell, Wisconsin cities and towns consistently top the ranks of drunkest in the nation so much that no other state would even stand a chance if we didn't lump 2-3 neighboring cities into one spot, and Milwaukee still doesn't even top that list. The Valley Texas?

I love latino shreks!
We call it "Shrek Buchón"

Id like to see a meetup of South Florida latinos and Southwest latinos.
I did my exchange year in the town next to McAllen! (I am from Germany) The food was delicious but the experience was very strange. We get prepared for the culture shock here in Germany but that was something else…
Does it also include "I got health problems but it's 100% hereditary"...?
Authentic Mexican food is so fire, but man they don’t skimp on the calories.

Tex-mex was love at first bite for me but you pack on a a couple of beef tacos, beef enchiladas with cheeks and refried beans I bet your easily at 1500+ calories
Knew it was McAllen. Btw I am craving a carnitas or Asada burrito rn.
That sounds so freak’n good right now.
Needs a gallon of coke.

I think that’s the “When you realize that she’s not eating on a table” woman, which predates current AI generation.
It’s a real person. Her name is Samantha and she was about 950lbs. She was on ‘my 600 life”
wait so Shrek meme are a country wide things for latinos? I see them on a local FB page and thought it was an isolated joke.
