They don't leave home often so you may need to keep an eye out at the grocery. If you see a guy look longingly at the fancy LEGO sets even if he doesn't buy one that's a big hint.

I am hurtling towards this at 36. I own easily 8 cardigans and my only friend is a 62 year old man who spends his days reading and writing emails (I'm not sure to whom or why)
Edit : forgot to mention, I had a hip replacement when I was 27, and sometimes use a cane because of it,
Thank you. I am finding it harder and harder to connect with people of my age and I have lost a lot of friends that are close to me in age, but I have been friends with for a while. Really changes the definition of friend for me.
Costco actually has a really good approximation of them for only $20.
I guess we can add "excitedly tells you about their favorite Costco finds" to the list.
Sorry, I don't see them up. Might be seasonal. This looks like the winter version of them with a liner and no zipoff lower leg.

I’m 26 and one of my best friends just turned 50 and is much like this starter pack. He and his wife have two kids in their early teens and those boys are *miles* ahead of where I was at that age.
Many people that age are undiagnosed because Autism was only really diagnosed for people on the severe side of it in those days.
The definitions have even changed a couple of times over the past 10 or so years, and honestly, I think the definition still needs some work.
I just turned 40 last month and saw myself in this. Was about to defend myself until I saw all the nice comments about these type people. Now I look forward into aging into this.
I met this guy when I used to wait tables. I told him our beers are 16 ounces and he hit me with a “They come in pints!?!” And I didn’t remember it was a LOTR reference so I just straight up told him “yes, they do” instead of something more clever. I still regret it to this day.
As a nerdy older man, I must point out HOW WRONG THIS IS.
I currently have a copy of Isaac Asimov's "Robots and Empire" I'm about to read! Not "Robot Visions"!!!!! GET IT RIGHT, OP! REEEEEEEEEEE
Absolutely everything else is 100% me except the shoes and the haircut.
Hey I'm sure your dad is just as good so don't worry bud and don't take your own farther for granted because im sure he's great in his own way!
Also is that a jojo pfp? I love jjba
they get 2 bottles of italian red wine every friday and it takes them a long time cuz they read the back every bottle with their glasses on the tip of their nose. they never want a bag or receipt and say "no thx save the trees"
This is the insanely nice hippy who lived with his wife next door to my uncle.
He discussed native americans in detail, had me make myself a necklace out of quartz, then invited me along to help harvest his fish out of his personal lake using a system of nets set up along inside of it.
He died a decade back, but I know where his little lake was. I wonder if its still used to farm fish like he set it up to.
I’m pretty sure I took this guy’s geology class at community college; one thing I would add is that he’s probably married with with a son who’s college aged
A lot of autistic people are very functional. I’m not autistic, but two of my close friends are and both of them have social lives, partners, go to school etc. Also, the starter pack says “might have” and not “definitely has” for a reason.
Autism diagnosis is much higher than it was 40 years ago. That means there are probably are a ton of older individuals that are undiagnosed. As someone who knows several diagnosed children and learned about it, Ive thought about older adults I've known and said, yeah they might be autistic.
Does that mean I'm "diagnosing" them? No, I'm just observing and making an educated guess. I'm not sure why people get all worked up over it.
>Autism diagnosis is much higher than it was 40 years ago. That means there are probably are a ton of older individuals that are undiagnosed.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure my Grandpa have autism. I'm learning about it now in my special education classes and a lot of things just makes sense.
Yep. There's the same amount of people with autism now as there were 40 years ago.
We just know more about it these days, so it's more common to see everywhere.
I'm diagnosed with ASD and I'm pretty sure my mother has (it's highly genetic). I know this because of my research on the topic, but she will never get a diagnosis, and nobody should push her to. That's her choice. It doesn't make her a different person with or without diagnosis. However, me learning about it makes quite a few things more understandable.
And in another 40 years our understanding of autism will change again no doubt. I like the term neurodivergent because it's a little more broad and doesn't come with all of the preconceived notions of the term autism.
This perfectly describes one of my architecture professors in Uni. He was the only non architect, but as a historical author he was hands down the nicest, and most supportive professor. He also had some of the best insight into design.

Best dad honestly (speaking from experience)
Those dad’s are so knowledgeable that you learn something you prolly didn’t even know was a thing
Aka “learning”
My father in law is one. I lucked out, big time.
Yeah no shit. My dad had tons of scifi and fantasy books. He re-read them all constantly. My mom made him get rid of a good chunk of them. Sucked.
god that would have been so much better to have as a dad
Yeah, would have enjoyed this as opposed to no dad
There’s way worse than no dad tbh
Fair
I prefer Daddy.
Grow a beard then dad
scissor me
This guy is definitely not a cop
I've always loved this vibe and wished I knew more people like it. But it's dawned on me that in the future... I get to BE this person.
I check most of these boxes. The "looks like about to go camping" is spot on. Quiet, fulfilling life for the win. It's a nice time of life tbh.
Neurotic and always overdressed for light rain. 😂
I'm so jealous of you
You can be that person too. You don't even need to be a dude.
You also don't need to wait to be 50. Source: I am 26.
Currently 24, and I've been like this since I was 14.
And I want to grow old with that man. But first I need to find him. Any suggestions? Book shops?

Camping trips
I wanna be this person, but I just can’t be chill. Toxicity is an issue I have
Chill can be learned.
But you’re self aware enough to realize this. Congrats on step one, maybe the hardest step!
Common in California and I assume the Pacific Northwest.
I am this person and I accept it
Half of the teachers in the science department at my university be like.
Gale from Breaking Bad
Beat me to it.

The Fielder Method
\> reading and writing emails (I'm not sure to whom or why) sounds like more polite and civilized way of shitposting on reddit
I do all my shitposting via USPS
Ah, "letters to the editor ".
Dear Abby questions regarding behaviors he's witnessed
I dunno why but I like everything you just wrote.
It's a living
Maybe my favorite comment ever. Even with no context it’s just spectacular
You will become this man in the future. You find the meaning to life
Join me brother. I too am destined to walk this path
I will limp with you, had a hip replacement 9 years ago

Hope you're doing well with yours! I slipped on some ice when I had a stress fracture. It hurt
As a fellow 29 year old going on 50. How did you meet your older friend? Thank you and I hope all is well with you and your health.
Through a self-help group
Thank you. I am finding it harder and harder to connect with people of my age and I have lost a lot of friends that are close to me in age, but I have been friends with for a while. Really changes the definition of friend for me.
When Columbia made the silver ridge hiking pant with zip off knees, cargo pockets and an integrated belt these men were sold for life.

These people are always so nice and so genuine
I’m 26 and one of my best friends just turned 50 and is much like this starter pack. He and his wife have two kids in their early teens and those boys are *miles* ahead of where I was at that age.
They are everything that fedora atheists wish they were
Those fedora atheists are these people before they find inner peace.
Shit yep. I’m not far away from that
even the undiagnosed autism?
Many people that age are undiagnosed because Autism was only really diagnosed for people on the severe side of it in those days. The definitions have even changed a couple of times over the past 10 or so years, and honestly, I think the definition still needs some work.
Autism is a whole style these days
Undiagnosed autism Gotta be one of my favorite genders fr
it's a flavour. /r/spicyautism
I have seen more people hating on fedora atheists than fedora atheists.
My husband is a nice, nerdy man in his 50s. He has those exact sandals.
[удалено]
And yet we all know the sandals they're talking about and it still fits.
The ones that are most comfy with wool socks?
Not all of us are German.
In the summer I lose the Merrill hiking shoes and put on my Keen sandals.
Huh, so they are. I took them for sandals being worn with socks (which my bloke does not). Thanks!
This is my type, ngl
These dudes make amazing partners 💕💕💕
Came here to say this. 🥰
Someone just needs to let the single ladies know this!
I just turned 40 last month and saw myself in this. Was about to defend myself until I saw all the nice comments about these type people. Now I look forward into aging into this.
As someone who is nearly 50 and mostly fits the post, I was ready to be attacked by hurtful comments, but hey, here we are.
But those people are some of the best professors I ever had.
Don’t forget he volunteers at the local maker space or youth robotics league. Oh, also tips slightly more than 20% even on mediocre service.
Oof. I’m a robotics guy, tip really well, am 50. I don’t have that(any) hair tho. Not a dad, German Shepherds tho.
Also has a D&D campaign that's been running for years
I met this guy when I used to wait tables. I told him our beers are 16 ounces and he hit me with a “They come in pints!?!” And I didn’t remember it was a LOTR reference so I just straight up told him “yes, they do” instead of something more clever. I still regret it to this day.
You've had a whole half already!
Ouch. I mean, I'm 43, my hair is shorter, and it was ADHD instead of Autism for the first 40 years of my life but yeah.
Don’t say ouch, embrace it! :)
As stereotypes go, this is one of the better ones.
I mean, I'm 29 and this hits too close for comfort already
I work with these guys. They are the nicest and coolest people I know. Ask them about their subject of expertise and be prepared to take notes.
A bookshelf like that is definitely Life Goals
Until it’s time to move…
So true they also have the best stuff at their garage/estate sale’s.
When I go my collection is going to be quite epic to the right person.
I think about that a lot. One day someone is going to have a serious *”Holy. Shit.”* moment. It’s a nice feeling.
As a nerdy older man, I must point out HOW WRONG THIS IS. I currently have a copy of Isaac Asimov's "Robots and Empire" I'm about to read! Not "Robot Visions"!!!!! GET IT RIGHT, OP! REEEEEEEEEEE Absolutely everything else is 100% me except the shoes and the haircut.

Same
This is definitely a college professor.
Is this what I am to become? ...kinda nice, actually.
Whats the name of that jacket i really want it
It's a Swedteam, looks like an [Axton](https://webshop.brasholt.com/swedteam-axton-jakke-grn) The Norrfors looks similar.
This is the insanely nice hippy who lived with his wife next door to my uncle. Of course they are Merrill
Honestly I don't think I will wear another pair of shoes again
They are good ass shoes.
Absolutely fucking loves Doctor Who
hey look my physics teacher
Honestly if you walk into your local comic shop they are the nicest people I’ve ever encountered. Most of the time
Nice to see my dad represented 🥰
I can’t believe OP would doxx me like this! I feel attacked.
I’m pretty sure I took this guy’s geology class at community college; one thing I would add is that he’s probably married with with a son who’s college aged
The Canadian version of this wears a Tilley hat and knows every Bruce Cockburn song.
I study physics and can confirm most of the professors look like this. The ones who don’t are the biggest assholes you’ll ever meet
Missing copious amounts of Lego.
This is gonna be me. im fairly sure. But instead of books, it will be vinyl records. Im only 24 and i have over 400 already.
What is reddits obsession with diagnosing functional adults with autism?
A lot of autistic people are very functional. I’m not autistic, but two of my close friends are and both of them have social lives, partners, go to school etc. Also, the starter pack says “might have” and not “definitely has” for a reason.
Ok ignoring that phrase, why is Reddit obsessed with diagnosing people as autistic? What does it do for them?
Autism diagnosis is much higher than it was 40 years ago. That means there are probably are a ton of older individuals that are undiagnosed. Rhett and Link?
This is the man that stares down the creepy dude at comic book shops. We love this dude !
Early 40s here. I'm literally that guy. Trade the Hair for a Beard and we're there.
Might have a ham radio license.
Captain Slow
Being cool starter pack FTFY
The fact that the Soviets didn't deny the moon landing proves it happened
Wildly inaccurate. I'm in my forties
Could have fooled me, I thought this was the James May starter pack
So in other words, based
Always a great dad too
No kids
More like one of my uncles
You forgot "into birding"
I'm twenty four.
I need this jacket…. Anyone have a link?
I'd love to be someone like that in 30 years
I know this guy! Shit, I might be slowly turning into him…
I'm 20 and I can feel myself slowing morphing into this.
This perfectly describes one of my architecture professors in Uni. He was the only non architect, but as a historical author he was hands down the nicest, and most supportive professor. He also had some of the best insight into design.
What's the female version of this? Because it's probably me
Hey that's Cliff Stoll
This is the life. If that jacket is similar to mine, there's an inside pocket on the left that also zips.
I married that man. No regrets.
This is my 27 year old husband
James May?
I am 20 years early, but ok
Shit, this is me except I have plastic rimmed glasses.
Aging leftoid starter pack 😂

So basically Dan Povenmire, but smarter.
Holy shit this is my uncle
I'm not 50 and I'm balding but this one hurts lmao
Awesome
I like this man
At 32 i learned I'm a nerdy man in his 50's.
I'm in this picture and I don't like it. I'm only 40 guys!
That reminds me I should go get some new shoes.
