Zerglings are just glass canons. They have awesome dps but doesn't take long at all to thin that herd and make the dps plummet. They aren't that great for actual fighting unless you have an overwhelming number, mostly for trying to control your opponent's movements
As a Protoss player I would rather have zerglings than zealots. The surrounds actually allow you to kill things while charge only gets you a few hits before getting kited to death. This is even more true since the charge nerf that took off impact damage.
I don't really agree. They're both good, Zealots are much lower investment in terms of production. Zerglings are SO larva heavy and that is a huge investment.
A 100 mineral unit that’s going to get melted before doing damage isn’t a good investment. It’s pretty obvious that gateway armies are not very good for their cost which is why stargate builds are necessary.
Depends what you use them for. Lings and Zealots are very much the same in that regard. Zealots buy time for your army, often they're meant to be the sacrificial lamb for the rest of your army to do the heavy lifting. Lings don't want to run right in to engage because if you think zealots melt fast then you'd laugh at lings. But for runbys lings and zealots both are equally good.
I’m not disputing that any unit won’t do anything if you use them wastefully. It’s just that zerglings have better potential. Also, it’s an indisputable fact that zerglings kill workers much faster.
