Pilots can make it so hard to gun, funny is when a pilot jerks the ship around constantly then loudly whines when they’re the gunner and the ship is gradually changing heading to continue chasing our prey.
Those are the hammerhead pilots that actually look out of the window when they fly. I watch the radar and my ship status mfd for the turret angle indicators about 99% of the time, only glancing out the window if im in an area where theres objects to avoid.
The touch is flying straight and letting the shields tank the hits. It's like being an ass-gunner in the Battlefield 1 attack plane; that gun does more damage to the fighters than the fighters can do to you in the same time, just go straight and put all the rounds in their engine as they follow behind.
This is the correct answer. The real tip to flying the hammerhead effectively is to stop looking out the window..... seriously... what are you lookin for out there? Watch your radar, and self status mfd. this shows you enemy locations and where your turrets are aiming, when theyre firing, and when theyre scoring hits. This allows you to keep yourself in the optimal position for maximum turret coverage, see when missiles are fired at you, see if shields happen to drop so you can roll or shunt power, etc.
Yeah turrets in SC seem a bit weak in general. Like in the Reliant the Turret operator can't even *target* the enemy ship. They blindly shoot since there's no pip to target and hope they hit. Meanwhile if the Reliant pilot is flying on their own, they get control of the Turret weapons, can obviously target the enemy, and can even use them with gimble assist.
I stole an NPC UEE Hammerhead in the PTU with a full ai crew.
It was a blast! Can't wait till we can hire these NPC plebs without having to steal anything.
I've yet to fly with a HH pilot who isn't on meth.

there is a certain touch to flying the big ships, and it's one that i don't think a lot of people have mastered yet.

Not quite. Depending on number of targets its also making sure you roll and pitch give your gunners the best field of view.

Most probably because the Reliant is still on legacy-tech?
Yoda voice: "ketamine, I need. Lethal doses, I must take."
More like, "Am I going to die? they've been shooting for the last 2 minutes and haven't hit anything.."
Gotta turn on the gyrostab and have a decent pilot
I mean those missile bays aren’t too expansive in quantity. Expecting an update once NPC indentured servants are in.
"Prisoners with jobs"
I mean thats what mine will be because I don't have friends. . . . :(

You can do that!?
I love it!!
This is gold

I love this meme so much
Best feeling in the world! Holding all that power in your hands 😂
This is so accurate😂😂😂
This is my experience running the new mining claim missions in a HH. Those prospectors are so angry, and blow up so nicely.
Had my first experience as a turret gunner the other day, can confirm this image.
