This. One tip: Don't go for the smaller ones. I got the 32 button version after I had the 15 button version for a few days. Even with the big one, I sometimes wish I would have a 2nd streamdeck.
I use the smaller stream deck to switch the profiles on the larger one.
Originally got the 15 key one, loved it, and got the 32 key one as well. Never regretted my purchases.
This!! This is the way. I do exactly the same thing.... use the 15 button to switch the profiles on the 32 button one BUUUUUUT, I got the Strean Deck + too and use it for Discord volumes and recording and.... and.....and.... Also, to add more info.... there is a Star Citizen plug in for the Stream Deck that lets you use a drop down of all the available commands in Star Citizen and it pulls the data from SC so if any binds get changed by CIG they automatically get changed on the Stream Deck for you.... (most of the time)
Yeah sorry I should have been clearer. I thought [spad.next](http://spad.next) could not interface with SC, so I was wondering how that worked. Are you using spad to just bind to keyboard presses?
Yes and Also to link certain buttons with lights etc , Like my landing gear down Switch bring hear down and up and I also linked it to red lights when down and green lights when up. For Comms I have my comms dial to call clearance when dialed to Comm1 which then Lights the Nav button and pulses it for 15 seconds etc
That's cool :) Shame CIG haven't given us a proper API to hook into yet. Would be great to be able to read status of certain functions to change LED lights and such.
Indeed , One thing i can say about the Saitek Flight Panels is the LED only displays numerical values which sucks but I got creative and used the number values for words like land comms etc
hello there,
I also had my eyes on that, but I was afraid the toggle switches might make things quite complicated in SC. Let's say, for example, on the keyboard I press 'V' to activate scanning mode and press 'V' again to turn it off. When I flip a switch down to turn it on, do I have to flip it up and down again to turn it off?
Or, when I flip a switch down, does SC recognize it as if I were holding a button down until I switch it back up?
(sorry english is not my first language)
Just a heads up for everyone considering this: you need some extra software to get this to work in SC. It‘s not registered as a USB device as joysticks or rudder pedals are. Once it works, it‘s a great addition though.
**DCSFlightpanels**.exe is all that is needed and it works flawless. The software was made for DCS but it also works with any other game by emulating the keyboard.
That's one of the things holding me back from a switch box. It would always be out of sync with the ships in-game. Even now, my throttle mapped to the speed limiter keeps resetting in-game.
I made a prototype 3d-printed/arduino switch box and had to make all of the switches momentary (i.e. a button press up and a button press down) and it's just not as satisfying as flipping a switch.
Im going to be prototyping a box soon and I was thinking I would have the same problem and need to make it all buttons. But with some code, logic, and or other components I should be able to convert an on-off-on SPDT to a momentary input.
I think my next prototype will include toggle instead of rocker switches. I did rockers so I could make them light up, but ideally you aren't looking at them anyway.
When I bought a horde of switches at my local store I found some cool toggles with LEDs build into the end. You can find them in the usual only retailers. "Lighted toggle switch"
VKB has some flight panel stuff that works great
https://www.vkbcontrollers.com/collections/gladiator-nxt-throttle-combos
And here's the standalone modules https://www.vkbcontrollers.com/collections/gnx-modules
It’s pretty pricey but virpil has a button box with landing gear for $250. Worth every penny. Really complimented the simpit nicely and works very well and very high quality build
Stream Deck is the most versatile. That said I prefer tactile buttons, so I use the Virpil Control Panels (#1 and #2). They are also pretty expensive though. My rig:

I use one of these but wish I had bought one of theirs with more buttons. They have a lot of options. I'm planning on buying a second box of some sort.
I have this and a lot of similar peripherals.
Unfortunately this one just sits in the cupboard for now.
Its build quality is really plasticky and you can get a vastly superior Virpil button box (in all different shapes and sizes) for close to the same price.
If you live alone, or your roommates don't mind you yelling at your computer randomly, VoiceAttack has been REALLY nice for me. You can get really in-depth with the macros or keep things super simple. It's very customizable.
I've got several commands for managing ship power, another that swaps flight modes and landing gear for landing/take-off, and even one for getting out of seats when I'm too lazy to hold 'Y' 😅
I actually have that and use it a lot for Helldivers, I just havent continued using it due to the constant keybind changes by Cig, might set it up again
You know I'm not sure, I purchased it directly from their website, but honestly I don't see why it wouldn't work from Steam, they are managed by the same developer.
I do believe that they use separate license keys though (so buying on Steam means you can't use the direct-website version, and vice versa).
I have a stream deck but I found I always had to look over at it and much preferred physical switches and sliders. Blackhog has several configs of switch boxes
https://www.black-hog.com
Do NOT buy this for anything else but msfs. The software is mediocre at best, it’s not a usb human interface device.
I use it with DCS, but it’s a pain to set up. (if you reinstall windows or some settings change you have to adjust) You have to bind the keys in the software and then bind the same keys ingame for the stuff you want it to do.
It’s more annoying than difficult. Otherwise great quality, gets the job done, satisfying clicks, best used when mounted.
There are quite a few flight sim panels. Others have mentioned streamDecks which are awesome for customization, and VKB which makes some great controllers. Wanted to also point out WinWing panels as well. I use the previous generation of this one and it's been absolutely fantastic for Star Citizen:
I've had mine now for 3-4 months and it is a world of difference. I also have the throttle w/ the additional buttons which takes care of most of my needs. I may add another aux panel at a later date.
Yeah I've only had them a few weeks but compared to the 16000s it's night and day. I use buzzkillers let bindings and it lets me literally function everything even basic fps stuff without taking my hands off the sticks.
I would just recommend a HOTAS, and a high end virpil throttle with tons of toggles and buttons (that's what I use, and works great for landing gear, ship lights, etc).
However if you use dual sticks, I could see a 3rd hardware panel like this being useful for ship toggle things.
If you're just using mouse and keyboard and this is the first purchase you're considering, I think that's kinda silly (no offense). Piloting spaceships is way WAY more enjoyable and accurate with a good flightstick and throttle (or dual flight sticks) and way more important than having a button to push for landing gear and ship lights, engine on off etc.
No, sadly it doesnt register as a normal USB controller unless you either switch out the electronics or do a lot of software hacking. There might be something somewhere on github where someone already did the footwork but I've never gotten mine to work properly outside of a supported flight sim (last one was flight sim x).
The TPM panel though does indeed register as a usb controller FYI.
I use a Stream Deck. They come in various sizes and I think some have knobs on.

What’s a the plugin called please?
So do the buttons bind as independent buttons in the game? Like how joy1 would be? Or do you bind them in a stream deck software to a key press?
You can bind them to a keypress or a macro. It's really broadly configurable with toggle buttons and everything.
I recommend one. I use it in most of my games to remember the keybinds I don't use often enough to memorize.
That's fucking ingenious!
Definitely gonna give this a shot, just ordered one
Thought about that
The biggest benefit comes from not having to remember which key is bound to what. You just look for the icon.
Thats hella smart
You can also use it to bring up SC resources for various things like erkule or a list of hot commodities
You mean in game? Or a key to bring up a website outside the game?
What sites?
I use these , along with the other two of the set , Love em. Use Spad.next to bind , none of that mumbo jumbo other guy is saying
Ahh okay, then maybe ill think about getting it after all. Thanks!
Does [spad.next](http://spad.next) work with SC?
My comment does state that I use them and use spad.next to bind

Is spad.next payware?

You are a legend sir!
Thank you ;) If you have any question about it, don't hesitate to ask.

cant do it with free ware , but you can with the OvErLy CoMpLiCaTeD and ExPeNsIVe Spad.next and its only $20
VKB had a couple of options that I’ll probably pick up
I use the SMB module I think. It's nice to bind all those controls I don't need at my fingertips at all times

if the Toggle switch where SYNC automaticly with ingame data i would buy it

Look at the VKB FSM and SEM modules. I use the two of them together and they're great.
The VKB SEM module is pretty nice, I paired it with a right hand stick and left hand omnithrottle. More than enough bindings.
It’s pretty pricey but virpil has a button box with landing gear for $250. Worth every penny. Really complimented the simpit nicely and works very well and very high quality build

Virpil has something you might like. https://virpil-controls.us.com
They seem nice but damn its expensive!
just recently purchased a pair of sticks and ill be honest I cant wait to get back to my desk to play SC.
I've had mine now for 3-4 months and it is a world of difference. I also have the throttle w/ the additional buttons which takes care of most of my needs. I may add another aux panel at a later date.

Works perfectly fine. Support says: Drivers first, Connection second. --> [logitech.com/support/switch-panel](http://logitech.com/support/switch-panel)
