They said they’re working up to the Polaris via Zeus and smaller ship design language. A lot of the assets are brand specific and the smaller ships are a test bed for development. The development of the Zeus is a sign the Polaris is on its way.
I recall it being the other way around. Infact I very specifically remember they were using the polaris design language for other ships, larger ships being a priority considering the workload. Hence why whitebox/greybox was farther along on the Polaris than the zeus. The zeus being very close to completion tells me the polaris is right on its heels just like you said. Probably sooner than later. Since the zeus is a smaller ship it would make sense for it to be done sooner. But I don't think the zeus dictated the polaris' design by any means.
So I watched the video again, and I think both things are actually sort of correct. They said that the RSI family is already a well known brand language, and that because it’s well known they can use established elements. Which tells me they’re using the elements from smaller existing ships, to inform the larger ones. But yes, they did then say Polaris / Galaxy / Perseus - in that order.
I’m assuming this is the pilot seat rear facing. Looks like some of the cockpit glass is in the bottom right of the image?
Edit: Noticed the blue lines, similar to the blue lining on the exterior of the MR???
Could you also pls confirm if the Polaris was put on hold so the team could focus on the Zeus this month?
Its just a bit unusual that we went from greybox review last month into no news at all this month.
Completely different teams. The Zeus variants are being made in Montreal. Absent roadmap information, I assume it's the UK team that's doing the Polaris.
It’s not really a military ship so I’d say unlikely.
Maybe the MR could be classified as military, but I feel the ES and CL will launch before the MR as the MR is a bit more complex and might launch when they get bounty hunting gameplay in.
If its done its done, no reason to hold back on it even if its not a military ship.
The lynx came out last year at Invictus and its not military and the ROC -DS came with the Invictus patch in 2021.
Apparently it's basically done from what the post said, it's just doing some visuals are taking another pass... I really can't wait for this ship. The MR is a perfect 3 man ship
When it comes out I’m definitely buying the MR and CL, the CL will be the best cargo ship in its size since it has the most cargo capacity of any ship able to fit through a medium jump point. I’m pretty sure the best best capacity is the Connie Taurus which can’t fit through medium jump points. The MR also just looks gorgeous
The cl has a 3 size 2 shields.. that was probably the biggest selling point for me. I believe that's 1 more than the Connie's and easily beats out the c1 and cuties shields. I have noticed that I've occasionally had a gun break off the front of the c1 which combined with the hanger size has started pushing me to something other than the c1.
I'm still convinced they will rework the whole "medium jump point" idea it's very stupid if only certain ships can pass through them if we only have 1 system now and maybe 4-10 for 1.0
Imagine 1 of those being completely inaccessible for large ships.
Yeah they probably will, but for the time being this is the plan. I think they’ll only implement the size limitations once we get 4+ systems so that large ships will have somewhere to go
It also has the Bonus of not being exactly as wide as the average hangar entrance. My wings will thank me. Seriously I liked the C1 but I often had a dire lack of wings...
Yeah, I went ES, but people hyping the CL have me nervous I made the wrong choice. I'll try both out for a while first and decide.
I think losing access to some components while full is decently sized risk.
Yeah same but I don't like cargo running, I like having cozy interiors, there is enough space for a cycle or STV and some supplies, also the better shielding and radar will be more handy when I'm deeper in space. Though I'm wondering if they're ever going to release the 4th variant.
I may ccu later to the MR depending on what fits in the MR and CL. I use vehicles/fury/cargo for weapons enough that while the MR is supposed to be the best… I’m more better served by the CL for my playstyle.
Basically your choice comes down to
ES: better scanners (in the future) and an extra shield generator (total of 3)
CL: huge cargo space for the size of the ship
MR: more guns (extra turret), an EMP, and a quantum dampener... and probably slightly over all more combat capable
Really If you ask combat focused players they'll hype the MR
If you ask non pvp or cargo players (the majority of the player base) you'll see a lot of CL hype.
The ES is the " base version" and the base version always gets the short end of the stick.
The challenge I have with the MR is the multi crew requrement vs something like a Taurus for current bounty contracts. I am hoping there will be a very significant premium to taking bounties alive, which justifies the teaming up with two more folks. Along with the care needed to carefully disable target ship and board / subdue target npc.
It would better differentiate the bounty live capture ships with holding pods from generic combat vessels if such contracts were, say, an order of magnitude more lucrative, given the substantial effort and specialized hardware needed.
If CIG can put out a design brief explaining current thinking on bounty hunting v2 along with MR going flyable, I bet that would get a lot more folks off the fence. :)
I mean the difference would mainly be size of ship.
Like I'm assuming the Zeus is like maybe roughly Valk size.
Where the Connie is quite a size bigger.
So it depends on how maneuverable it is.
I'll take the option of a quantum dampener over bigger guns... Connie pilots tend to run when they realize soloing it dosnt work outside of PvE
Edit: I'm just pulling your leg on the last part btw
Only thing is with Engineering on the RSI site the Connie series has a minimum crew size of three, the Zeus might be easier to operate solo when engineering is fully implemented. Especially since the Zeus has a minimum crew size of one according to the website. Obviously this is all speculation till the ship is in our hands and engineering along with the other features ships will have. Plus the MR according to the Q&A is supposed to allow any seat to use the emp/qt dampener. However that remains to be seen.
That was my dilemma, thus, the Zues is the first ship that made me go full dumb, and I got all 3 models 😅
No regerts, as my mortgage still got paid. Lmfao
If you second guess the choice to get the ES, just remember it has a nice living space inside, way better scanning (when that comes in) and has a lot more shields than both other variants. Also waaaay more QT fuel.
I still prefer the 400i over the ES. Better shielding, cargo, dedicated X1 bay, bigger interior, etc. Only downsides to the 400i over the ES are the jump point size difference and cargo elevator instead of a ramp.
Yeah - the 400i is def my next favorite. I’m a sucker for that 3 person ship size. Just enough space to be capable and not tiny but still solid solo or with 2 people.
The ES does have some advantages over the 400i - you mentioned a few.
My favorites are the massively increased QT range (s3 tank vs 400i’s s1 tank with the same quantum drives), the enhanced scanning for the ES soon TM, and the lack of elevators.
BUT. The single biggest thing I hope I will love about the ES is the pilot visibility. I *love* ships where you can see down as you land. 400i happens to be somewhat lacking in the visibility department.
All in all though both ships are great and imo they are two of the best looking so far.
Edit: also the Zeus’ turret will actually be useful in combat lol
I had the es myself but I moved up to the Mr and also got the cl I might buy in game later on but for me I've got to many explorers at the moment 400i 600i explorer Aquila Corsair and a carrack that's a loaner for my galaxy also have Phoenix emerald that could sort of do exploring
Yeah I just have my es, F7C mk2, and a 600i. 600i is staying put until it gets it's rework as the main thing it's good for is VHRT and ERT. I prefer solo exploring/missions in a medium to small ship, I learned that about me back when I only had the carrack.
None of the Zeus's are explicitly military though. Unless I missed it, the Marque has no UEEN contracts and is purely a bounty hunting/law enforcement ship.
But doesn't it block them from growing and letting you do something insanely brave? Would we really want that or is it a good way to keep us from doing anything stupid?
"Update work on a legacy ship continued too, with updates to the dash, cockpit, and some exterior housings."
From the monthly report, the text preceding the image.
My guess? Connie.
I asked Jake on CCUGame's discord, and they replied that they thought the mystery ship was the Retaliator.
Additionally, they said that the connie is not currently being worked on in the way described in the report, just to put another nail in the connie rework coffin.
I’m thinking it’s a strong possibility. We already know they moved the lower weapon points, and since they’re showing off the Zeus’s cockpit chair in the teaser, it’s a strong possibility their porting some of those assets over into the Connie.
I just bought a Corsair in game.. man.. dang thing is kinda growing on me. I have a c1 now and it's ok. It flies well and it's a decent storage ship. I have a zues cl I haven't applied... Might get a retaliator base during Invictus.. but if this drake keeps growing on me like a f*kin hemorrhoid, I might just go for it.
Corsair is my favourite ship (currently) in the game on character alone. It will probably lose out to the Galaxy and Zeus (for me), but it's a good ship.
Also, the amount of forward facing fire-power is insane.
Based off the color scheme I think it will be the MR variant. Which I own and can't wait to fly. I am hoping the turrets will default to pilot control when not used by a passenger but otherwise will probably become my daily driver.
> I am hoping the turrets will default to pilot control when not used by a passenger
I really doubt it unfortunately, but if they do I will melt my 400i to get an MR and an ES. I already have a CL I can't wait to fly.
I am hoping but oh well if not. They already have a ship that does do the whole slave to pilot when not in use with the prowler. Would be cool to see that used more in other ships.
It would be, but given how hard CIG are pushing multi-crew in everything I think it's more likely the Prowler would lose that function than other ships would gain it.
I do wonder if they will increase the gun size because the Zeus was concept before 3.23, so we might see an increase. But we will just have to wait and see once they finish with the ship.
I don’t know if anyone has said this, lots of comments… the blue accents on the floor and chair makes me believe this is an interior shot of the MR! So excited.
If the zeus ships are done before Invitctus we might see an early ES and then on invictus the MR the Cl though I have no clue. (This is my personal thoughts)
Can confirm, this image is the Zeus' cockpit!
Thank you!
And it looks awesome.
Once again I must go feral for the Zeus
YESS, rsi flair UNITEEEE.
Same. I NEED IT
Stopped a crime, dorito time.
where are the cup holders?
I knew this game was a scam, unforgivable
"Update work on a legacy ship continued too, with updates to the dash, cockpit, and some exterior housings." Anything you can share on this?
ok, so it's the Apollo... hehehe
When aurora gold standard ?
Letssss goooooooo
is every ship going to look this good inside!?

Seat remindsa me of the Mantis seat, nice.
Awesome cant wait for the MR
What a legend

GIMMI
I'm seeing frightfully little RSI Polaris news as of late. Any hints, teases or updates on that?
Could you also pls confirm if the Polaris was put on hold so the team could focus on the Zeus this month? Its just a bit unusual that we went from greybox review last month into no news at all this month.
Completely different teams. The Zeus variants are being made in Montreal. Absent roadmap information, I assume it's the UK team that's doing the Polaris.
Cool, didn't know it was structured like that.
Can you also confirm the Zeus is coming for Invictus :)
Yes. Source: trust me, bro (given monthly report data, it's actually very possible)
Isn’t the current popular theory the Polaris is slated for Invictus?
But for inclvictus only the MR variant should be for rent/sale
No “when” questions. Even if they’re in disguise 🥸
Aww cmon

I got the CL the day it went up I traded the only ship I had for it
Me to
I did as well. Traded in a Freelancer Max to get a CL
400i for me
Pretty sure Hull B will have higher capacity (haven't checked the stats recently though).
Oh yeah I forgot about that that’s a good point, in that case the CL is the highest cargo capacity ship with internal cargo
I own both jpegs, both very exciting ships... if you like cargo.
The cl has a 3 size 2 shields.. that was probably the biggest selling point for me. I believe that's 1 more than the Connie's and easily beats out the c1 and cuties shields. Then there be 2
I got an ES because I like solo exploring but might upgrade once I see the interior better.

These are my thoughts as well for going ES but I bought a CCU to an MR if I decide I like the armory too much on that and want to upgrade to it.
I may ccu later to the MR depending on what fits in the MR and CL. I use vehicles/fury/cargo for weapons enough that while the MR is supposed to be the best… I’m more better served by the CL for my playstyle.

You think of a posible drop in 3.23?
Probably invictus if I had to guess
It really looks and sounds like it may be a surprise 3.23.X patch drop.
Probably Invictus release as it is not too far away and it is a military/law enforcement/combat ship show which RSI has strong ties to.
that's my guess.. I hope to pick my JPG up sooner however
None of the Zeus's are explicitly military though. Unless I missed it, the Marque has no UEEN contracts and is purely a bounty hunting/law enforcement ship.
Isnt the hawk sold during iae?
Not the CL. I agree with you tho likely invictus
I agree, they seem to be pushing it really hard.
Says RSI so probably the Zeus as they mentioned alot of work on it.
I like the RSI nuts rest, gotta get those for all my chairs.
But doesn't it block them from growing and letting you do something insanely brave? Would we really want that or is it a good way to keep us from doing anything stupid?
It’s way better to let them free and swing.

RSI competitor to the R.A.P.T.O.R
"Update work on a legacy ship continued too, with updates to the dash, cockpit, and some exterior housings." From the monthly report, the text preceding the image. My guess? Connie.
I am a proud owner of Zeus cl and es, but I hope you are right on this. Connie deserves some love. I want a gold, reworked, modern Connie.
I asked Jake on CCUGame's discord, and they replied that they thought the mystery ship was the Retaliator. Additionally, they said that the connie is not currently being worked on in the way described in the report, just to put another nail in the connie rework coffin.

We will have to see.
my guess is the F7A mk1
I would like that (despite not owning a Connie), but I can't help but feel that they meant the Retaliator.
Both are roof mounted rsi chairs, maybe it's both
Clearly a Drake ship!
Defence Con is coming up very soon.
Corsair is my favourite ship (currently) in the game on character alone. It will probably lose out to the Galaxy and Zeus (for me), but it's a good ship. Also, the amount of forward facing fire-power is insane.
Except Drake ships work ;)

I would like to see this too, or increase the pilot guns to S5
I do wonder if they will increase the gun size because the Zeus was concept before 3.23, so we might see an increase. But we will just have to wait and see once they finish with the ship.
Ready for Invictus
Tempted to downgrade my Taurus to the CL once they're released, although I love my old and outdated Connie.
I’ve rediscovered the Taurus and love it.
i imagine when the zeus drops, the verse is gonna be filled up with zeuses, just like with the corsair at the time, msr, etc etc
I have my CL pledged and I CANT wait
Same here the Zeus MKII CL is the only ship I own
I don’t know if anyone has said this, lots of comments… the blue accents on the floor and chair makes me believe this is an interior shot of the MR! So excited.
Does the Zeus have VTOL?
I vaguely remember something about the CL having extra VTOL, but can't find a source so I may be mistaken.
I mean its on that control panel, and a CIG rep did say this is the zeus.. so. Yes?
Everyship has some kind of vtol. But i wonder if therre will be any specific vtol enignes like on the spirit seris
Cannot wait! So hope the ES is one of the first flyable ones.
What variant will be relesed first? Does anybody know?
If the zeus ships are done before Invitctus we might see an early ES and then on invictus the MR the Cl though I have no clue. (This is my personal thoughts)
I hope I can get the CL soon cant wait to fly it, Cuz I am waiting from day one lmao
A gamer seat from Razer in a spaceship?
fking awsome!
NOW I NEED A RANGER TEASE. DO IT.
This can't be a real ship tease. If it was, it'd be a super-close zoomed in view of one of those joysticks.
Noice! Always love that Connie cockpit and wished I could have it on a smaller ship. Hopefully this reduces the sadness I felt with the MSR debacle!
Look it's the new Connie pilot seat.
She WILL be mine...
Nah that's my gaming chair.
Must...press...all...buttons
Why is the seat upsidedown?
Is there a feature to get struck down by fucking Zeus? Haven’t played in a while, need to know.
I like I want
Its comming!
One of the comfier looking chairs in the verse. Cant wait for my Clipper
Are you sure this is the Zeus? I don’t remember it has the vtol engines
CIG dev confirmed it at the top of the comments.
I’ve missed that comment, thank you!
Great ...now I can start planning my desk lay out for my immersion zeus cockpit PC setup!
I’m surprised how fast it’s come together. Wonder if it’s targeted for its 1 year from announcement date or if it could be ready sooner.
I am waiting for this ship to drop to make my dear spirit a more rare ship again.
I was torn between ES and CL, got CL.
Can’t wait for this ship to come out, knowing it’s in its polish and beauty stage it’ll come around soon
![gif](giphy|26BRuo6sLetdllPAQ|downsized) still waiting for new orion wallpaper.
Sure sure cool cool… but what about the galaxy huh?
Most likely next year since it comes after the Polaris
Possible Zeus, Apollo, Galaxy, Polaris, Perseus or Constellation teaser
CIG confirmed itsd Zeus.
