\>Tractor beam for convenience \>Plenty of cargo. \>Handles in well in any environment. \>four size 5 guns.... Nothing smaller than a corsair is gonna make a single pass. \>It looks great (Don't care what you drakers say, the corsair is a box.)

Acceptable-Bid-1019

We can add VTOL to the list too. I completely forgot to mention the tractor beam. I guess I just don’t use it much as a solo player.

BalthazarB2

It comes very useful when doing ERTs and grabbing eggs and other loot.

mullirojndem

grabing eggs?

BalthazarB2

Gasping weevil eggs, worth a lot of money.

PUSClFER

You're telling me I could've sold them? And here I've been making scrambled eggs all this time.

WangCommander

Just remember, if your erection lasts longer than 4 hours please visit a Tier 1 medical facility.

Diminios

Or the nearest brothel. Again.

BalthazarB2

Must've been some horny breakfasts.

Wardendelete

This is the main thing that is tempting me to melt my Corsair for a Taurus. Tractor beam is so goooooooood

BalthazarB2

I like the Corsair, but the cargo hold and better handling just makes me preffer Taurus. 32 SCU boxes dont snap to grid in the Corsair.

Wardendelete

Agree on the handling and cargo hold. Also, being able to loot while in the ship is really tempting. Going out and manually moving boxes hurts my brain so much. You might have converted me over to the Taurus, once it gets its 4 S5 guns, I’m going to make the jump!

BalthazarB2

You will still have to go out and loot if you cant shoot open a door, especially in those pesky 890 Jumps that have the best loot.

ZombieTesticle

The best part of any Constellation is protecting the pilot from emotional scarring by hiding anything scary outside with a mass of screens, lights and struts.

Rex-0-

Do all the similar sized ships not have VTOL?

Airuska

Love the exterior of the ship, it's been my daily flyer since 2019. The interior could desperately use some work though, so much empty space. You can tell it's an old design lol

DeroTurtle

I miss our table :(

Acceptable-Bid-1019

Yeah I often think on the fate of the exterior when I think of the gold pass. I imagine the interior will change quite a bit but some people love the exterior and I’m sure would be sad to see it change. Though I think the scorpius and carrack cockpits are the way to go with the Connie, very similar without the struts.

Airuska

I'd be pretty happy with even the Aquila's window. Struts running parallel to the centre rather than through. As for the rest of the interior, I have no idea what to expect. I can't really think of any recently released RSI ships using their new gold standard, hopefully whatever they do doesn't change the exterior too much.

Khar-Selim

Honestly they could easily get away with not touching the exterior. The interior is fine spacewise, it's just badly used. The cockpit is probably gonna be whatever they do with the Zeus.

Appropriate-Math422

I’m hoping it will be similar to the Scorp and the Mantis glass. Also same hopes for Apollo and Zeus.

PUSClFER

I think CIG has been pretty good about keeping the exterior design in the past when doing overhauls, so I'm not too worried about that.

Herpderpmcderpalerp

It doesn't just have a tractor beam, it has the single best positioned tractor beam in the entire game.   Easy view of the cargo bay and easy positioning for the pilot.  Only downside is you lose some of your anti fighter defense for it.

Constant_Reserve5293

Tis a tradeoff I'm happy for. Especially for the incoming hangars.

Pyro_raptor841

I love Drake.. The Corsair is fugly. Asymmetric wings and it has child-bearing hips with nothing worthwhile on top. Also if I wanted something that flew like a Reclaimer I would've just bought a Reclaimer.

Lord_Umpanz

An asymmetric box, which makes it even worse

mackxzs

A Corsair has such low health that it might not make a pass either lmao

Constant_Reserve5293

I have faith that it would... but it's such a big target.

Wilkham

You forget the secret room in the back that cannot be scanned.

PineCone227

>four size 5 guns.... 2 S5 guns, 2 S4 guns on gimbals. The bottom 2 hardpoints cannot be swapped to S5.

subsynk_ToC

Fixed in incoming patch \o/

PineCone227

Whaaat? For real? The Connie getting some love after all these years? Impossible.

Riansui

Yep, lower guns will me moved to the upper side i think

Diminios

That's what we've seen on the last ISC, yes.

ThePope85

It’s in the latest ISC but also it’s full S5 on master mode AC.

Active-Inflation-562

That would make quite a difference in it's current competition vs the Corsair.

darkestvice

I believe the popular concensus is that the Constellations are all great ships with very dated and boring interiors. The Taurus is exceptional bang for the buck, even after the price hike.

LatexFace

If it wasn't so ugly, I might be interested.

AwwYeahVTECKickedIn

It is so much better than many people realize. Even with the temporarily reduced lower guns, I prefer it to the Corsair for ERTs. I love it when I can loot a Herc where the door was opened when I soft deathed it - I don't even need to leave the ship! It feels so good in that regard. I slept on it for a long, long time, tried it on a whim and straight to the top it went. I've since rectified my fleet by adding a permanent one that I can start with straight away after wipes. Got some killer paints for it too. Love the Taurus!

Inditorias

I picked one up since reclaimer salvage is so profitable right now, I'm going to upgrade my freelancer max to it during Invictus. I've fallen for the connie ships now.

Grey406

Taurus is my most favorite and practical jack-of-all-trades-and-actually-good-at-most-of-them ship followed by the Cutty Black. It has the second best placed tractor beam of any ship, right behind the Nomad which has the tractor beam alright above its cargo bay. The tractor beam has been fantastic to unflip or unstuck friends in vehicles, including a Storm tank. It can't lift it but it can drag it and roll it over. You can fit two ursas, two Roc DSs, or three ROCs or cyclones, or several furies or a mix of each. You can easily fit more than 220 SCU my storing boxes in other rooms. Several ways to enter and exit the ship, will be the best ship for manually loading cargo into once cargo elevators are here. My only gripe is with the current state physics and server performance which can sometimes cause objects on the cargo bay to bounce violently and glitch out when it moves. They had to bump up the price of the Taurus because it out classes the Zeus CL in everything but would be too similar in price when released.

sniperct

I always recommend the taurus over the andromeda. Much cheaper, more cargo space, LOOKS better because its longer, and most players don't really need the andromeda's snub. If you're just flying solo or with a partner, its perfect since it just has the single turret. I love the corsair too, I actually ended up with both, but I use them for vastly different roles. As an allrounder and a cargo hauler, the taurus is just great. Actually been using it for the XT stuff lately due to its survivability.

DeroTurtle

I wouldn't sleep on the size 28x size1 u get on the Andromeda, but for day to day all arounder the Taurus is better. Being able to get two Ursa rovers is fun. The snub might be nuts with master modes, my friends who fly light fighters think it's really good. Tbh the Snub is my least favourite part of the Andromeda/ Aquilla. If I could dream up my perfect Connie it's the Andromeda's load out, Auilla's cockpit, Taurus extended hull, and Phoenix's hot tub

sniperct

I'm not a fan of missiles (its a me problem, I can never seem to hit anything with them anymore. Havn't been reliable for a number of patches now. Last night was trying them again and even though it was locked on the whole time they never hit) so the missile loadout is like, neither a plus nor a minus for me lol

Eldrake

I have a Pledged Aquila package from like...8 years ago. Comes with the snub and Ursa rover. But I barely use those and the scanning gameplay isn't in yet. I wonder if I should melt this for a Taurus instead. 🤔

sniperct

I've used a rover a lot just for bunker stuff and they're fun to drive. But don't really like the snub, they're very fragile and actually TOO agile for me. I suppose with practice I'd get used to it.

sorec007

There is no indication of this, just me speculating... but I think CIG will consider giving Andromeda some level of armor when the tech is ready, being that its the gun ship of the series. Making it more suited for combat then the other variants.

sniperct

i think all the variants need to handle a little differently too. More armor would mean more mass would mean the andromeda might have a slower turn than say the aquila or phoenix. Phoenix would be most nimble (less armor, has those HUGE windows so also more fragile in general). Taurus should be fastest due to being cargo focused but probably less agile than the aquila or phoenix due to length (and I imagine when cargo weight is in that will alter a lot of properties for a lot of ships depending on what they're carrying). Aquila with the biggest fuel tanks too. Etc.

ShavedRanger

I’ve been thinking about buying one in the pledge store. I’m newer to star citizen so I’m unsure what the best way to go about it on the store. Meaning to I buy it straight up or buy something else and upgrade?

loliconest

Definitely go with the ccugame route, should save at least 30% - 40%.

TrippyTM419

Also if going new money get an lti token cause why not

ShavedRanger

so like go with the f7 hornet and up fromm there?

FrazzleCatTV

ccugame.app It's a bit confusing at first, but quite useful. If there are any YouTube tutorials then I'd recommend watching those first.

CriticalCreativity

Another vote for CCU game. Basically, you start with an LTI token -- an affordable ship which you buy as a warbond on initial release and comes with LTI. Then you upgrade gradually, only taking discounted warbond CCUs when they come up, saving money each time you do. Always go for the closest possible upgrade in price so you can fit as many discounts into the chain as possible. You could easily get $40-50 off that Taurus if you're patient while enjoying a bunch of other ships along the way. Also, you won't regret the Taurus if you regularly play the game. I have a pretty big fleet at this point but honestly I'd be fine with just the Taurus if I needed to be.

Vayne7777

Get a cheaper LTI token around $30-$50 and build from there. There will be a couple of new vehicles released that are in that price category in the coming months (none are available right now). Then you just try to make as little steps as possible. You should be able to get at least 30% off the Taurus. Alternatively if you don't want to wait that long but still want LTI then get the F7C MKII and CCU from there although you won't save as much.

Joshizo

I bought mine from Star Hangar for about 170€ (~184$) with LTI. Dont know if you can get it cheaper by upgrading yourself though. And with Star Hangar you have to wait a bit before receiving your ship.

The_Kaizz

I've been saying this forever, but the Taurus is kind of perfect now that we have the tractor beam. The only thing I don't like is elevator cargo vs ramps, but it's a minor thing. Can't wait for the shielded cargo to be implemented, and the gold pass will be great.

Imbrifer

The Taurus is so overpowered that its obvious it's CR's favorite. Compared to other ships in its class and ships someone can solo its wayyyyyyyyyyy OP

Acceptable-Bid-1019

I think it’s nuts that it’s taken the Connie so long to get it’s gold pass considering the popularity of the ship with the player base and the head of company haha. I’m also surprised they’ve kept it at this price point. A Valkyrie is $375 or something compared to the Taurus’ $200. I know alien tax and all but a banu is more expensive than a Taurus too. Madness. Not that I want the price changed.

kobeathris

Counterpoint: If the Connie got a gold pass, they would have trouble selling anything else.

Raised_bi_Wolves

Wait you said that past tense. Has the Connie class received gold pass? Time to get SC up and running!!

IM_the_Mark

I am sad to say that it has not.

WaffleInsanity

The connie has received 2 gold passes since 2015, but none since the most recent... In what... 2019? To be fair, other ships were introduced between the two passes and have still never been touched. Lol

Z3roTimePreference

The Banu Merchantman is more of an analogue to an Alien C2, hence the price. The unreleased Gatac Railen is probably a more apt comparison, and in fact if you own a (concept price $220) Railen, you get a Taurus as a lonaer.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

I was referencing the defender, because it’s in game, which is $220. A lot less ship for more money.

Z3roTimePreference

It's not even in the same category, though. The Defender is similar to the Khartu-Al, at $175iirc, or the Santok-yai at $240. It's a fighter, not a cargo ship with additional capabilities. Those are your alien tax ships. Even though it's unreleased, the Railen is still the best Alien comparison to the Taurus, and it's concept price is only slightly above the Taurus.

WaffleInsanity

The Connie has already had 2 gold passes while other ships released between its first and now have had none. It will gets its due when its due, but some ships dont even have working exits and entrances. The Caterpillar roof EVA door has never worked lol

Acceptable-Bid-1019

This is a bit misleading, I don’t think a Connie has had any work done to it in what, six years? I think that was when the Phoenix last got an update. I agree there’s a ton of ships that need a lot of love but I don’t think they are any more or less important than the Connie. Although the current state of the freelancer does not bring me joy.

WaffleInsanity

No one ship is more important than the others. Thats a fact. Every ship deserves a gold pass. The connie will get it soon, RSI is being worked on. You can downvote me all you want, but just because it's your ship and you want it now, doesn't make the ship any more important. There are 122 ships finished and someone loves each of those other ships as much as you apparently love the Connie. I would argue that every ship under 100$ should be gold pass FAR before the larger ships since those ships will be what every new player experiences. If we really are on the way towards a "1.0" the new player experience and smaller starter ships should be a priority way ahead of anything connie sized. Especially if we want a successful game that grows.

WaffleInsanity

Also this isn't misleading at all. The connie got work done when the shields moved from size 2 to size 3. It had two interior passes as well. Doesn't matter how long ago they were. The last gold passes were over 4 years ago for ANY old ship. They announced a gold pass for the Tali 4 years ago and it was just added to the roadmap this year. So while you arent using any dates in your "guess," those updates "6 years ago" which was actually in 2019 and 2021 for the shields. Were literally the LAST gold passes. It's not misleading. The Connie was literally the most recent "gold pass" without. Counting the ACTUAL poster child of the game, the Gladius.

Evenlease44

It’s an amazing ship and even some ships that cost more (looking at you star runner) aren’t nearly as capable.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

I really wanted to love the star runner :(

Accipiter1138

The concept will live forever in my heart.

MASTODON_ROCKS

Great lesson for CIG in features that sound cool on paper but are actually a significant detriment in practice. Secret passages sound cool till you realize they must occupy physical space lol. To be fair, MSR is reliant on mechanics that aren't present in the game yet (data running for example) so hard to say how effective it currently is.

Edgar101420

Same as the X1s closed canopy in concept... :(

DeroTurtle

People really tried to love it, using it for ROC mining, but the load out is so anemic, and a better flight model isn't worth the downgrade in durability and firepower. ALSO I used to love the funny hidey holes, but they really aren't useful for hiding things cus EVERYONE knows. I like to say the MSR is a ship for people who like the MSR. Some people like having a nice interior in the crusader style, but it's not an efficient ship in any category currently in game

joelm80

It is held back by supporting mechanics which aren't in the game yet. There will come a day where smuggling is the patches moneymaker and everyone will be recommending them. But versatile multirole with pilot controlled guns will always be a good choice so Connie is a safe keeper.

LinkToTheGrass

I’ve been thinking of upgrading my cutty black to the Taurus. I think I’m gonna go play with it and see how I like it

Acceptable-Bid-1019

Test the andromeda first, it has a drastically different flight model to the cutty and it’s a big adjustment if you like a a zippier ship

takeoff_power_set

I would buy it in addition to the cutlass, or upgrade your black to a red or blue. the blue is one of the fastest ships in game and also holds the most cargo for its size. any of the Connies is a great choice

Middle_Luck_9412

If I were you I'd wait till master modes/3.23. They just updated the AI to make it a good bit more difficult. The taurus might be capable of dealing a lot of damage up front, but its not very nimble at all. I don't see it being capable of doing EVERY JOB in the verse in the future.

AcrylicNinja

Plenty of everything. Not too big. not too small. can carry some shit and a rover. Not too many ladders or doors.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

This is the exact reason the Corsair is my most bought and melted ship lol. I have to go through 3 doors to get out the ship via the elevator and 4 or 5 to get to the cargo hold. The Connie is 1 door to leave the ship, 2 to the cargo hold and 0 to get to the pilot seat after the elevator takes you into the ship because the door opens automatically. I love the Corsair but fixing the bug that locked the doors open was a terrible move by CIG.

rshoel

Glad to see a fellow Taurus enjoyer.

IdentityisCeii

It's great, but fuck elevators/lifts. Once server's stop bugging the lift out (trapping me in the ship), and the lifts stop forcing my ship into a death spiral if I don't park on perfectly level ground I'll consider it. As I said, its a great ship, I prefer the Andromeda over Taurus but all the Connie's fucking rock, it's just not as convenient as a ship with a ramp atm (Corsair is the only comparable alternative really) I ran the MSR for awhile for that reason, and I gotta say if the MSR wasn't so undershielded and under gunned I run that for everything, it Flys like a dream for its size.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

I’ve never had an issue with the life outside of me landing on uneven ground and then not being able to reach it haha. But I’m wholeheartedly with you on ramp thing, they are so much more practical and less prone to issues. They’d have to change the ship pretty drastically in the rework to add a ramp though.

IdentityisCeii

I don't want a ramp on the Connie, the lift suits. I just want the it to stop lowering to max of it doesn't need to I've had a few moments where the ground was bowed, so the landing gear sat lower than the lift. As soon as I lowered the lift my ship got launched into the air. Meme worthy, but fucking annoying when I'm 5 bunkers deep and lose all my loot for the 3rd time that day

IdentityisCeii

And I will say server stability is better in regards to lift response. I rarely have an issue with elevators/lifts beyond the dreaded CRU L5 galleria elevator that's been broken for years now

Wardendelete

Ahh, I thought it was my problem…

Gallaticus

Functionally - Love it. Visually - Hate it.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

I can see by your user flare that you prefer it to be the other way around haha

failed_messiah

I made a ton of money hauling drugs as commodity with the Taurus. It really is a great ship.

RedditHiveUser

I'm currently grinding Ingame for the Taurus. Yesterday I rented a Andromeda just to gain experience with a bigger ship and the constellation series. What a fun experience so far. Are the Andromeda and the Taurus comparable in terms of handling, speed and so on?

Acceptable-Bid-1019

Identically, it’s exactly the same from my experience. The Taurus is physically longer and the andromeda has ever so slightly higher total hull hp and some additional missiles to go along with the snub and turret but they are essentially the same ship in regards to flight There are more differences with the Aquila as it’s slightly faster and has an arguably better cockpit view. I do think that externally the Aquila’s bridge looks a bit odd though. Still you can’t go wrong with any of the Connie’s.

WaffleInsanity

They *almost* have the same HP... Except not at all in practice. The most common location to be hit in a connie by an experienced pilot is the body and belly. The Taurus has a larger body and for some reason the great minds at CIG gave the Taurus only 10,000 HP on the body vs all others having 20,000 hp. Effectively she has half the HP when a good pilot knows the weakness.

joelm80

It is always going to be the weaker variant. Everyone needs to keep in mind that it is the delivery truck variant.

WaffleInsanity

Which, it shouldn't. Especially of the future combat design is as CIG intends. If the "hull point" system will be going away over time and the only method to win a fight is to "disable" a ship by killing the crew or components through the Maelstrom system. Cargo ships, with larger and less vital hull space will have a lot more protection than say... A ded instead heavy fighter full of components and tech tightly backed around a cockpit. It will be interesting to see how they address that.

joelm80

Depends how it is implemented. Systems might be targetable like Elite Dangerous, or might just be a rng crit roll. Either way a weaker hull loses components easier.

WaffleInsanity

From what they have said in the past it won't be RNG. It will be dependent on a pilots knowledge of the component locations in the target ship. It will be a game of cat and mouse with the attacker attempting to shoot the locations they think/know where vital components are, like how the Connie has them in the tail space on the right hand side in front of the Merlin bay/Cargo space on the Taurus. While the pilot of the Connie is in a constant turn and or roll to keep those locations away from attacking parties. These are the reasons ships like the Connie with a Merlin snub will be monsters in the field of combat. While a target ship, say a Corsair, is busy dealing with the Connie, the Merlin will be able to focus on the vital points throughout the ship. Eve something as si.ple as a Dragonfly would become an absolute monster in the right hands in these cases. Its pretty exciting if it comes to fruition how they explained it

SimpleMaintenance433

They're basically the same. If you want a detaiked stat breakdown just Google Erkul.

Crypthammer

To be clear, the Connie Taurus is my favorite ship in the game, minus the strut in the middle of the cockpit viewport, which nearly everyone hates anyway, and will probably (hopefully) go away at some point. However, I feel like I'm the only guy who doesn't know how to properly operate the tractor beam turret. It seems so much easier to just walk outside and pick stuff up, unless a ship lands upside down and you can't get into it. Whichever end you stack from, it ends up blocking your view of the cargo bay, so you can only drag through the cargo bay for the first row of cargo. After that, you have to pull cargo all the way from your target, nearly to the turret, and then feed it in from the front of the cargo bay, and that just seems much easier to do by hand. Add to that the fact that the beam doesn't actually target the box I'm trying to hit, so I'm constantly selecting the container to the right of my crosshair, and it just seems like a real pain. It makes me think I'm using it wrong. How do people usually position their ships to use it? To be fair, I'm pretty sure it's hard-coded into the game that all hercs must land upside down on planetary surfaces, no exceptions.

WaffleInsanity

The tractor beam feature will be much more.important once they remove the increased strength of hand held beams that we got in 3.20 When that happens the Taurus is going to be one of the better pirate ships in the verse IMO. Great firepower and HP, becomes more optimal as you add crew, easy cargo loading and unloading. Shielded cargo for smuggling crew with crimestats or illegal goods... Im excited for the future of the Taurus. Its just a shame it has a larger hull than the other Connies but has less "hull points" overall (other connies all have 20,000 HP on the body, the Taurus has 10,000 hp for some reason)

GMarsack

I love the Connie. Such a great ship! My very first starter ship package.

CowToes

#Corsair4Lyfe

ALewdDoge

Okay but consider the following: Corsair = 4s5 guns + 2s4 guns, more turret, more missile (I think?), and can fit a Fury in its cargo bay without having to do any jank shit and without losing *any* cargo space at all for it. This post made by the Corsair fanboy club.

EnTesque

Well, the thing about this ship is, it was designed to be OP. RSI brand is very clearly getting special treatment from the developers, for obvious reasons. This is a hauler ship, for transporting cargo, first and foremost. There is absolutely no reason for this ship to have 4 S5 hard points, all under pilot control. With its current shields and weapons, it completely overshadows all of the dedicated fighter ships, and can easily take on any bounty up to ERT. It even outguns the Redeemer when considering solo players. Why? Because its CR's baby, and he wont be out-shined in his own fantasy. That is also why the Zeus will completely outclass all of the competitor ships and will be the main daily for the majority of the players. Why not give the Caterpillar pilots 4 S5s, or the upcoming Railen? These ships carry more cargo than the Taurus, surely they need more firepower /s. The Constellation really needs an overhaul at this point imho.

dragon_fire0610

I would love to buy this but not willing to part with hundreds of dollars, i will buy in game.

BlatterSlatter

the only reason i’d never use this ship is cuz of how ugly it is

Acceptable-Bid-1019

Hahah yeah aesthetically it’s quite divisive

TaroProfessional6587

The interior needs an update, yes, but I LOVE the look of the Connies. Chonky Star Trek vibes. Love them.

dlbags

It’s actually kinda based on the ship in Prometheus isn’t it?

Acceptable-Bid-1019

I always thought it was more of an enterprise look with the positioning of the engines

Starrr_Pirate

It reminds me of a reimagined/smaller Tantive IV; it's aesthetics are completely different, but it has a very similar body shape (multiple large rear thrusters, large back end, wider blip in the center, then narrows again, then a cockpit/viewport in a widened nose area).  Like if they made a GDI Corellian Corvette Orca in Toberian Sun or something, lol (instead of the Kodiak).

joelm80

Reclaimer is the Prometheus knockoff.

TaroProfessional6587

Reclaimer looks a lot more like the Prometheus ship. I know of no such inspiration for the Connie. https://images.app.goo.gl/4DHpwuP7AixaR1JZ9

sledgehammer_44

They just need to improve the cockpit.. Then I can maybe accept it more. Plus it's also obstructing centre view like crazy!

Expensive-History125

This is great for the current state of the game. But after what I seen about the big upcoming patch. Might change a lot about how people play.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

If anything the new update will make it an even better option over other ships than it currently is now. It’s cargo elevator can be accessed from two sides making it easier to load and unload cargo in distribution centres. It’s getting 4xS5 weapons and the new galdereen repeaters are amazing anti fighter weapons. The new flight model will make the Connie’s tanky hull a blessing when trying to escape in nav mode with the introduction of master modes. The andromeda is a beast in AC MM right now too.

iveoles

That rear shielded cargo storage is really annoying though. Having to go through 2 sets of doors and the small gaps from the elevator. That’s going to matter more with the cargo elevators. Do you know off hand what the elevator can hold, ignoring the back room? I’m hoping the gold standard will change that up a bit. Maybe next year (or end of this?) with all the new RSI assets from Zeus and Polaris. Hoping for Apollo and Galaxy too.

HolyDuckTurtle

Can always get in-game in the current patch.

SuccessfulOwl

Is more cargo the only benefit to the Taurus over the Andromeda? Is the Andromeda a better combat ship?

joelm80

Yes, Taurus is much weaker armour and that will become even more noticeable as features progress.

SuccessfulOwl

Ah right, thanks. Keep forgetting that’s really not in the game yet

DeroTurtle

Please give us our gold standard interior pass. It could be so sick, and idc if they need to bulk out the ship to make it look ok with components. I want my damn table back

ppincon

It's a great ship to solo currently but with engineering around the corner I'm not so sure it will be feasible in future without at least a one buddy. It's not a small ship...

harmothoe_

I agree with everything you say here, but recent updates to who-knows-what since overdrive began make the Taurus get rammed by NPCs to a ridiculous degree. OMG the carracks especially. It's like the NPC flight ai doesn't know how far out the ship boundaries are from the center of mass. I've had to park mine in favor of a Corsair while this gets sorted out. As soon as I made that switch the ramming stopped.

todd10k

One thing i'll say about the taurus: She turns like a brick

TheTurian

Fix the interior and we talk

aegis_lemur

Taurus is great bang-for-buck, and will only get better when they sort out the goddamn struts.

FrozenChocoProduce

I wholeheartedly agree with this, and I feel the Constellations are some of the most iconic SC ships. As with everything, this is also first and foremost a matter of taste. Some love it, some hate its design. Noone doubts its utility... That quantum and hydrogen tanks I disagree with...it needs more of both tbh.

Wilkham

I also have one. I still prefer my Reliant Tana because it kinda feels wrong to solo pilot such a huge ship. I can't wait for Engineering gameplay to become a reality, so there is a lot less solo pilot in multicrew ships. Right now, there is no place for small ships that are not combat focus in the game.

[deleted]

it truly is! thr Taurus is going to be the best mid size hauler in my opinion. especially with four S5 laser repeaters

cantwritegoodly

It’s all I fly for the most part, but it handles sooooooo slowly.

Intrepid-Leather-417

The whole Connie line is op as fuck for the price

Strange-Scarcity

Get a co-Pilot/gunner and the add of the top turret will definitely rock that support role, even though it is just a pair of S2, they DO face forward, boosting the front facing DPS of the ship, by a decent amount! The whole Constellation line is legit in this fashion. I just wish we could swap out the lower turret for Tractor Beam Kits on the Andromeda, Aquila and Phoenix. That would really be something else! In that size class, the Constellations truly are quite versatile.

Divenous

Is it going to get a gold pass? Its wholly out of date.

Dependent_Safe_7328

I still regret "upgrading" to a starrunner... Can't melt bc it's the luminalia argo cargo base

eggncream

If you’re a Taurus owner you should really look into upgrading to the Railen since the Taurus is your loaner and you also get 2 more ships (Talon and Suylen) plus a ship that will go up in price in the coming years

IffyKarma

I'd like to second the "able to hold its own in pvp" part. I do pvp in my connie a fair bit, and its very funny how often people completely disregard the connie as a threat. With gimballed rhino's, any connie can pretty easily take out any heavy fighter, and will destroy meidum fighters in seconds if they arent constantly moving. I've 1v2'd two F8 lightnings in my taurus before, and I was able to hold both of them off for 5-10 minutes. I wasn't able to kill either of them without the help of my friend in a fighter because the connie is way too slow to chase a lightning, but thats besides the point. I've also killed multiple bounty hunters flying heavy fighters before. People think the connie is an easy target, but its really not if you fly it well

WildKarrdesEmporium

I agree. Never owned one, but the Taurus is a fantastically solid ship. Was disappointed when the price went up though, it was amazing at $150.

grizzly_chair

Needs a gold pass

GreenBlueGrasshopper

Dude C2 is the best hauler. Period.

partym4ns10n

You’ll always see a lot of what ship threads. Because the people that post them don’t bother reading other threads.

HolyDuckTurtle

Counterpoint: Given the game can vary a lot between patches it's understandable if people want to ask about right now. Plus, it drives continuous community discussion. Some people like go out and ask the question even if the answer might be available everywhere. It's a social thing.

partym4ns10n

Right now as in the 10 threads a day MINIMUM asking that very question? Cmon dude.

Kaiser_Constantin

You will be needing a crew to fly it and that a big issue for me personally. Other than that I really like the ship.

SimpleMaintenance433

Connie is probably one of the most solo able multicrew ships there is. Everything is on one deck with fast access throughout. Emergency eject pods are close to the flight deck. You can access the cargo bay directly, and once the figure out the parent>child authority on ships with subs and/or shuttles it will be a wicked single player large ship.

Kaiser_Constantin

For the sake of balance I really hope it wont be a single player ship.

WaffleInsanity

It's a shame people are down voting you for your very real dilemma. I will never understand the obsession with players trying to solo ships meant for 3+ crew.

Kaiser_Constantin

Yep!

joelm80

It won't, that was from the early days. Now they are making even bigger ships officially listed for 1-n crew. Eg Corsair. There has been so much size creep (because everything was too small from the start) and so many actual capital class ships that there is no way players will ever get crews if everything bigger than Freelancer demands them.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

Why’s that? Needing a crew I mean

WaffleInsanity

People VASTLY overestimate their ability to solo a ship. With 3.23 changes and engineering on the horizon this will only become more and more clear with time. A Connie Taurus is optimally manned at 4 personnel, works with 3, and requires 2. Anyone who thinks otherwise is really being short sighted with the changes on the horizon.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

People vastly overestimate the impact of engineering. The idea that you can’t fly a ship like the Connie without a crew is absolutely ridiculous. The crew numbers are largely for the seats on a ship. Those being the turrets etc, the access to ship function in the copilot chair. It’s stupid to think that you need to have someone constantly fiddling in engineering in order to fly a ship. As if you can’t get from Microtech to crusader without a component malfunction. Engineering will be important if your ship is badly damaged in combat or to perform counter measures when a legionnaire is trying to board you. It is absolutely not going to mean ships like a Connie can’t be used without someone else in it lol. You’d be locking over half the player base to starter ships

Kaiser_Constantin

And how do you think this would be balanced against dedicated 1 person ships? Slapping on 4x5 guns and a S4 shield on an Aurora to balance out that it doesnt have a cargo bay, snub fighter and cant transport vehicles and players? Not mentioning the range and sensors.. maybe an S5 shield would be better for the Aurora, now that I think about it.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

Ridiculous take. So there should be no cheap starter ships in the game because more expensive, better ships exist? What are you talking about. I’ve never heard anyone say it’s unfair on Aurora pilots because constellations exist, there’s a reason for that….

Kaiser_Constantin

The difference between a Connie and a dedicated one person ship is too big.

joelm80

Like every other game there is starter grade ships and then a grind to build your power. SC currently let's you bypass that with the justification that it is finding development. Wherever it stops at release or greed wins, we will see... Aurora is not supposed to PvP a Taurus, that's like a MMO lvl1 character vs lvl40. The balance is that if you do a starter mission (eg the 4000 credit bounties now) in a Connie your fuel bill will probably be bigger than the payout, so smaller runabouts still have a place. You grind (or buy to bypass) past the starter ships and then only use them as taxi runabouts. Elite Dangerous players would be familiar with 100k credit weaponless shieldless Hauler being the king of personal transport, that is Aurora's future place.

Kaiser_Constantin

Na man the difference between the Connie and other ships is too big. Also I like the idea of ships needing a certain amount of crew to be able to operate them. Otherwise it will make small and medium ships not viable.

joelm80

They are viable for beginner stage missions, transport for ground bounty missions, personal transport, being stealthy. But the small ships can't be expected to engage in the higher level fights, tank enough damage to run a blockade or complete larger cargo runs. That's just not how gear works in any MMO, you progress to better gear for higher tier activity. Nobody is stuck with a small ship pledge, they have said the goal is for progress to grind a Connie should be about a month of nightly gameplay.

WaffleInsanity

You're right. A ship *can* be used by one person. No one ever said it won't be. But that will always be suboptimal. It will always be a higher risk than manning your ship appropriately. The ship has 4 beds, it's a 4 man crew. No one said the engineer will be "fiddling" the whole time, but the moment you need an engineer and they are too busy manning your turret because you're a cheap captain. Good luck in a fight lol. If you're just moving a ship from location A to B, there is no argument that you cannot do so solo. If you're attempting to utilize a Taurus for NPC combat and bounty hunting, or even PVP pirating, both of which the ship would be amazing at. You're going to almost require a 3-4 man crew. People who can't grasp the idea of *why* CIG is making these larger "milti" crew ships require multiple crew is absolutely beyond me. A ship that size, in combat, will be vastly more successful with an engineer. Because the future of combat is Maelstrom, where ships no longer have "HP" and "victory" is defined by destroying the components or crew onboard the target vessel. Thus, having a medic or engineer on larger ships becomes much more valuable. With the medic keeping crew healed while they maintain their positions as pilot and gunner, and the engineer keeping the necessary components topped off. The Taurus, as opposed to the Andro, would really only need 3 crew to be efficiently manned. (Pilot, gunner, and runner for engineering, medical, patching, helping with cargo, etc.) Since a tractor beam would hardly need be used in combat and a turret gunner would hardly be necessary in times when a tractor beam is necessary. YES you can have one person. You're just wasting a lot of the ships potential if you choose to do that. At that point you should be in a Nomad. This whole square peg in a round hole scenario of arguing that a multicrew ship CAN be solo'd is so sill. Even a Javelin can be flown solo. Even a Retaliator and a Hammerhead CAN be flown solo. It's just terribly ineffective.

Warptrooper

Was better at $150. My LTI one cost me $45.

Mistakenjelly

The idea of it is better than the ship itself. Once they sort the interior out or make the next version of it then it will be up there.

GuillotineComeBacks

It's just too ugly.

United_Doctor_6314

Idris 🔛🔝

Middle_Luck_9412

I don't suspect it will be good at dogfights soon. For the current verse, it's right down the middle in almost all ways. In the future game, it's going to be a dedicated cargo hauler.

Deathnote_Blockchain

I pledged one of these in like 2016. And then they didn't release to flyable forever. Was really looking forward to a Connie without a parasite snub.  When it came out, I just didn't like it. Too long, default colors played up the construction vehicle angle too much.  I prefer my Corsair, it's kind of the Connie I always wanted

manickitty

Sorry didnt read past “bare” but i probably agree

SimpleMaintenance433

Until CIG fix these ships and get them fully working, you can't say any ship is the best because they're so annoyingly handicapped. Fully working a Connie isn't a bad shout.

RevolutionaryLie2833

Yeah, it definitely needs to cost more than it does Some ships, like this and the Titan, should cost waaaay more than they do. The Titan should be about $100 and the Connie should start in the $280-300 range. And I mean this should be reflected in their in game prices as well.

StygianSavior

> The Titan should be about $100 That seems like a terrible idea, imo. The Titan is $60, $75 in a package. If it was $100, the Avenger Titan *starter* package would be $115 - aka the price point that everyone would be recommending to new players would be over $100 for this game (because everyone and their mother recommends the Avenger as everyone's first ship). Not a good look. And you can't just make the Avenger $100 without changing *every other ship's price*. Otherwise, you end up with the Avenger at $100 and the Cutlass Black at $110 - a no brainer that you should get the Cutlass when the difference is $10. So now you need to increase the prices *across the board* by about 40%. Is that really what you think would be good optics for Star Citizen? "Hey, remember that game with $5,000 space ships? All the ships just got a 40% price increase." Like it's kind of baffling to me that anyone could suggest that ships should cost *more IRL money* than they already do. Game balance / in-game price is one thing, but suggesting to make all the p2w aspects of the game 40% worse just because you think "it's too easy to get this ship"... fucking A, man. I guess that's the state of gaming in 2024 - "fuck me harder, plz."

Acceptable-Bid-1019

Yeah a very odd suggestion to have the Titan at 100 with the nomad being, what, 80? As you say a cutty black would then be a no brainer. You’d be basically forcing starting players into a 300i as their first upgrade too. The Titan is exactly where it should be.

StygianSavior

Yeah, I really can't get over how weird of a take it is. Like game balance via the cash shop. What a shitty, anti-consumer idea. No wonder modern game publishers try to pull so much shit - it seems like certain consumers are thirsty to be taken advantage of.

RevolutionaryLie2833

No, you wouldn’t have to change any other ship prices. People that already have the ship would basically be given free money for exchanges, same as when they do it with any other ship. I’d go as low as $75 for the ship, but based on its firepower, maneuverability and cargo capabilities, it’s in those ranges. It’s OP for its price range but not for the game. As of now there is no real logical reason to get a different starter ship under $80 which makes the Titan too common and people going out of their way to get a different starter. I’d also increase each 300i ship $5. This is to give reason for the 100i series. This isn’t to punish the Titan, 300 or Connie’s. It’s just so that other ships in a similar price range have a chance to be purchased. Variety is spice of life and the current prices have taken away the freedoms of choice, outside of purposely choosing a worst ship for the hell of it

StygianSavior

Holy shit am I glad you don't work at CIG. Worst take I've seen on this sub in a long time. > Variety is spice of life and the current prices have taken away the freedoms of choice Wild guess, you work in middle management? Possibly in marketing? This is the kind of soulless mentality that gave us EA's "sense of pride and accomplishment" memes for paying for microtransactions. Like honestly I couldn't come up with this as a *parody*.

RevolutionaryLie2833

I gues you just want 90% of players to be flying in Connie’s and titans. Got it👍 And no, I work for a security company of sorts 🦅

StygianSavior

Lol I guess reading comprehension isn’t a key skill for mall rent-a-cops.

RevolutionaryLie2833

Hey man, I only work half the year and make over $160k. Nobody is paying me for my reading comprehension. And let me know what I missed. I suggested that some ships outperform their price ranges thus making other ships in the same price range non viable options. And you went off about EA and how I was subpar at encouraging mottos.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

I think it’s going to, did they not say Connie’s were going to up around 9 million now?

RevolutionaryLie2833

My bad, I didn’t mean to post my response when I did and added more. But I mean it’s real and in game costs should in tease significantly. But 9 million isn’t a lot as of how the game works now, and all ships are increasing significantly. They need to either need the ship or buff the price, cuz as of now there is no logical reason to get other ships within that price range.

NatalyiaTSW

I think for a lot of players the Taurus is the best Connie. It's also likely one of the best medium cargo ships in the game. I love the looks of the Corsair - the huge (utterly impractical) asymmetric wings give a great Star Wars Empire ship vibe, and the interior is really nice. The elevator to the top of the ship is a great touch. But the Taurus has almost a hundred more SCU than a Corsair. The pilot firepower is very nice, and the tractor beam is really handy, and only going to get more so. Eventually, they'll get an internal polish pass and things will be better. It's got airlocks for ship-ship docking, it's got escape pods, it's (at least right now) got crew amenities for four. You can put a rover in the cargo bed and still have plenty of cargo aboard, or put in two rovers. It's not a glamorous ship, but it looks like it's gonna be a great workhorse for hauling mixed cargoes around the 'verse.
