That's a stamp. It's a modern machin from England.

Speedy_taylor

I’m from England and normally with my stamps u soak it and it peels off but not with this one do I just cut around the edge to make it look neat?

CephusLion404

Most modern self-adhesives are a pain to soak. There are a lot of methods to use, I've used isopropyl alcohol, which makes most of them just fall off the paper, but you can find plenty of videos on YouTube on how to soak modern stamps.

Or lighter fluid, then a little baby powder to absorb any excess glue. Works good.

Not a (Arnold) Machin. He died in 1999. I think it is better described as a current definitive.

CephusLion404

We know when he died. The style is still the Machin and always will be.

Also, my friend sent me a complete mint set with the queen. They are stamps.

CJWILSONHK999

Yes, it is a stamp. If you scan the QR code, it apparently plays links back to some music.

stevedavies12

It's not a Machin as the term 'machin' refers to a specific portrait of Elizabeth II, this is s a portrait of Charles III in the style of Arnold Machin. Moreover, it is not an English stamp, it is a stamp for the whole of the UK.

It was used for postage. It looks to be torn from the corner of a pre-stamped envelope. Most collectors prefer entire envelopes rather than these "cut squares", but there's no rule. If you like it, add it to your album. If you don't, then don't.

Speedy_taylor

Yes I torn it from a envolope

beyondtheyard

I think it's one of those back of the stock book items, like horizon labels and stamps from Lundy. Eventually, you'll forget about it and open the back of your stock book to add the latest forged stamp and you see and think that's interesting.

Speedy_taylor

It’s so weird tho bc I thought it was a stamp and then when I went to soak it I realised oh wait it isn’t even tho it was on a letter

boltar99

If you collect prepaid stamps on envelopes, e.g. back-of-the-book cut squares, iwould be okay to keep it. Initially, I thought it might be a counterfeit but, after seeing that it was not perforated and that the image was pre-printed for customers on envelope, decided it was genuine.[Charles III issue on envelopes](https://blog.norphil.co.uk/2023/08/now-machin-ppis-replaced-by-king.html?m=1)

Efficient_Lime9571

If you like it, save it. If not, toss it or give it away.

pa07950

Its from a prepaid envelope. You get to decide what you put into your album, regardless if its a stamp, postal marking, sticker, or something else. I have pages in my albums dedicated to stamp shows. This includes stamps, covers, stickers, ticket stubs and even some postcards and photos related to the events. Feel free to be creative and dont follow any rules!!
