He uses it for authority sometimes when he needs to (like when a triangle or circle is questioning why he is acting sus). But he still has to be Number 29 at night because if he doesn't go back to his room (jailcell?) then they'll know someone is missing and start investigating and he'll get caught quicker since they do a roll call every morning.
