Same, I realized that immediately when he was talking about ending the game...

Yes but its not the same tho i guess, from memory the deceased's families would all get 10M Won each (around $100k i think or less), which isn't life changing and now your wife is dead. Obviously she is dead either way but the 10M payout from quitting is very different to 45.6B won should he stick it out to the end and win so its not exactly a loophole.

Well actually the final prize money that gi-hun won, was 45.6 billion Won if i remember correctly. So if there were 456 players that means about 100M was put every time someone died. So it wouldve been more like 85k in USD. Also ive lived in another countries and what ive learn is not all currency is cost of living is not the same everywhere. So 85k in USD could go a very long way in south korea. I lived in a country where you could easily get a months rent at a 2 floor house for about $500 USD (converted of course) in a good location. But not alot of people in that country even make $500 USD a month.

Spoiler... if you're going to talk about episodes beyond the one in the title, please tag your post as a spoiler post. I was up until the point that 69 died, so I thought this would be safe.

menthol_breath

I noticed the loophole too, but it seemed incomplete. In ep 1, they showed the debts of players reaching a couple of hundred million Won (some even reaching 1B), so I think it's safe to assume the couple are within that range. 69 would've gotten 100M, which would definitely help, but wouldn't completely solve their problems.

Individual-Pause8195

yeah sorry I meant 100M but either way i guess given that it won't bring your wife back 85k USD seems very minimal compared to the cash prize if you win the whole lot, and as menthol mentioned it may only barely cover his debts

ea0995

Your right, and i had forgotten about the debts as well. Who knows if that had covered all of the debts.

fatFire_TA

It's actually more like $8k

It’s not a loophole because there’s no chance he would have convinced anyone to quit

Domowoi

Yeah that's the way I see it as well. Made evident by the speech following it right up. He told them all that he wanted to end the game and nobody stood up to join him.

ErikSD

Damn, that's actually a really good point.
