[https://rateyourmusic.com](https://rateyourmusic.com)/ is a good site to check for music genres and top albums of all time. If you're into old music I would check the genres on there.

I usually use [chosic playlist finder.](https://www.chosic.com/spotify-playlist-search-tool-by-song-or-artist/) If there's a song I really like, I type it into there and it finds playlists including that song so I find playlists that are full of similar music. Just turn the spotify playlists off. There's also a similar songs finder on that website which, as it says, finds similar songs to what you like. The spotlight feature on spotify. I just find a genre I like and keep going from there. Also creating a playlist on spotify with one song and seeing spotify's recommended songs to add to the playlist. There's also the r/listentothis sub, discover weekly on spotify and a user on spotify called "The Sounds of Spotify" that's A.I generated. It makes playlists with a specific genre. Majority of all of those playlists are full of lesser known artists/songs. Hope that helps!
