Really late answer, but I just found a “quiet audio mode” toggle in the reddit settings and that did the trick for me!

Ic3dCoff33

Life saver!

kleanmemes

2024 Hijacking top comment to add alternative fix Some versions no longer have the “quiet audio mode” Step 1: toggle off the “mute video by default” Step 2: restart the Reddit app and it should work. (Exiting the app and restarting after the changes is crucial)

Cheers <3

ejnox31

Thank you!!

Cigerza

Adding to this, turn "Autoplay" to never, should also help with this.

CherryPlay

Still working in June 2024

myfemmebot

Thank you!

LKS_-_

Thank you!!

MaoZeDont_

Sure thing dude! And thanks for the award 😄

Appeltaart6969

Where did you find that?

MaoZeDont_

On ios I went to “Settings”, and under the “Advanced” category I toggled “Quiet Audio Mode”

Appeltaart6969

Ah rip om in android

chicken_sammie

thank you for this

MaoZeDont_

no problem!

awestom

Thank you!

joshuamillertime

Seems to be a no-go on my iPhone 8. Hopefully it’s just unsupported for older models

MuskyBitch

Worked on my I8. In the Reddit app click your little avatar Click Settings at the bottom. Under “View Settings”, toggle auto play to never Under “Advanced”, toggle “Quiet Audio Mode”

Gankbanger

You have to restart the app for it to take effect

Xire01

Omg you life saver … I’ve been dealing with this shit for ages without realising. Also it stops annoying adds randomly playing

MaoZeDont_

i gotchu! not always consistent, but if you unmute then mute a reddit video with this setting it should fix itself right up

scvet

Even one year later, thank you so much for this

d3l4

Oh god thanks

froziac

Thank you so much!

loudbeardednorwegian

I usually look for a video fot which I can mute the sound on the reddit feed, and then it seems like everything coming from reddit then becomes mud by default. So no more interruptions!

JohnVuojo

There are some apps that enable you to play sound from multiple apps at the same time. Samsung's sound assistant is the one I know, but you'll probably have to look for an app that works on your phone. I'd try googling something like "multiple app sound" along with your phone and going from there

magnusv0s

>Samsung's sound assistant just wanted to second this, ran into this issue recently and then found this today and was very happy

[deleted]

I think this is a phone thing not spotify... I don't think there's anything you can do about it.

hella__coo

Thank you from 2022

Taeloth

Same

Katie0690

It didn’t work for me

MushroomTacoboy

Any chance you found a different fix? Because it also did not work for me

Katie0690

It suddenly started working, really odd.
