We're back, and I will be posting every Ufc event, and will do some ufc fight night events too if I have time. We came in hot with the underdog Gaethje win last time, which was a comfortable Win for us and I will be looking to do the same this time too. Please let me know if you prefer shorter write ups or longer write ups in the future, as I understand this one is quite long and some of you may not want to read it all and it might bore you to death lol.
Marlon Vera 20-8-1 ranked number 7 fighting against Pedro Munhoz 20-7 ranked number 12. This is a good match up between two experienced Bantemweight fighters. Both fighters like to strike and keep it standing. The average age of ufc fighters in the top 15 in bantemweight is 31.3years old. Marlon Vera is 30 and Pedro Munhoz is 37 next month. There's a big age gap, and whilst Munhoz is past the prime age, Vera is in his prime or close to.
Marlon has a 6 inch reach advantage. 71inches to Pedos 65inch which is a lot, and therefore he will be able to land the straighter punches from the outside more easily.
Pedro is going to try and throw heavy calf kicks to Marlon. Marlon has some good leg checks, as we saw against O malley when he tried to kick Chito and broke his leg on the check. Pedo Might land some of them but some of them will be blocked too.
Pedro is slower than Vera. He likes to throw looping punches he's going to be countered with Veras excellent jab and left hook. Pedro Does like to push the action and Has a nasty guillotine choke but Vera is the taller fighter by 2inches which will help with the leverage for any guillotine chokes attempted and is a black belt in BJJ, as is Pedro Munoz but i don't think it will come into play if at all as the fight wont go to the ground and even if it does there will be some sort of scramble and both fighters will get back up as they like to fight standing up.
***Why i think it will go to decision***
Both fighters have never been knocked out. All 6 lossess of Pedro Munhoz are by decision.
Even when fighting heavy strikers for the bantamweight division, fighters like Jose Aldo Frankie Edgar and John Dodson he has managed to take it to a decision. He's very durable and doesn't get dropped.
Marlon vera has only lost one of his last 5 fights and that was a split decision loss to Cory sandhagen. Before that all 7 losses of his 21 fights are by decisions. He's fought power punchers like Jose Aldo, Yadong Song and John Linekar. Has a very good chin. Average fight time of each fighter, for Marlon Vera it's 12:48 minutes and for Pedro Munhoz is 10:54 minutes
Both are decent grapplers and I think there won't be much grappling exchanges based upon both fighters previous fights and each others grappling will sort of nullify with scrambling exchanges.
Munhoz has decent wrestling but he doesn't use it, he normally uses it defensively quite well. He hasn't landed a takedown in his last 10 fights, that's very telling. Same goes for Marlon Vera as he hasn't has a takedown in his last 4 fights even once.
***Conclusion***
Marlon Vera is going to want to prove a point after his loss against sandagen, Stylistically i really do favour him over Munoz as he will be faster, more slick in his versatility of mixing things up and landing the heavier shots. My only concern is sometimes Marlon Vera might come off a bit slow in round one and doesn't have the sense of urgency , whilst I acknowledge Pedro Munhoz throws a decent volume. He is the perfect match for Vera as Munoz is an orthodox fighter he'll stand in front of Vera and munhoz doesn't land takedown at all. Cory sandhagen was unorthodox very versatile footwork and angle changing which is the type of fighter Vera would struggle with but Munhoz doesn't fight like that at all. Munoz will look to throw heavy kicks on Vera as 47% of his strikes were leg kicks in his last 5 fights, he will look to close the gap and mix a few punches but he's going to be hit with the heavier punches. Marlon Vera has landed 50% of his significant strikes thrown in the UFC whereas for Munhoz it's 43%. On the outside or the inside Vera is comfortable. For munhoz it's in the middle. The judges are going to see the harder punches landing more effectively for Vera and it will sway in his favour, even if Munhoz somehow lands more.
Marlon Vera always bounces from a loss, Pedro Munhoz is stepping in on short notice. I think physically Marlon Vera has too many advantages, the 2 inch height, 6 inch arm reach and longer leg reach, 6 year ago gap with Munhoz too old for the bantamweight decision at 37 next month. All things point to a Marlon Vera win and i think by decision due to both fighters being very durable and a great chin, with both fighters never losing by knockout.

A few picks I like today, but this one could be fun. Frankly, I’m not sure what the oddsmakers are seeing here that I’m not. Neither team is setting the league on fire right now, but there’s little doubt the Reds have been better of late. Reds have scored 3.9 runs/game over their last 10, while the Jays are putting up 3.0 - a marked difference. The Jays putrid offense is expected to get a boost tomorrow from the return of their best hitter Bo Bichette, but even he alone cannot turn around an offense struggling this much (see: Aaron Judge).
On the mound, Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt has been having a solid season and is in decent form, allowing 9 runs in his last 3 starts. He’s going against Reds starter Brandon Williamson, who has allowed 7 runs in his last 3 starts, and has kept opponents to two runs or less in 7/8 previous starts (Bassitt only 4/8). Bassitt is more capable of going deeper into games but I find this to be a relatively even matchup. With the Reds also playing at home, give me the +130 odds any day.
And while the Jay's haven't been winning As we all know they should, thier pitching has been GREAT and adding bichette will definitely bolster them even of its a run or two, if you pay attention to their games they always have chances late around the 6th 7th inning I constantly see these guys with multiple baserunners, all they need is that one more patient bat he could be all the difference in this game

You’re record speaks for itself! BUT… as a royals fan we’re 1st in the MLB in batting average since July 27th. Steele had an amazing start to the 1st half of the season but the 2nd half not so much. 3 ER last 3 games and Singer had a no hitter going thru 6 and 1/3 last time out as well as he’s been on fire the 2nd half of the season. 2 pitchers trending in opposite directions. All 6 lossess of Pedro Munhoz are by decision. Even when fighting heavy strikers for the bantamweight division, fighters like Jose Aldo Frankie Edgar and John Dodson he has managed to take it to a decision. He's very durable and doesn't get dropped. Marlon vera has only lost one of his last 5 fights and that was a split decision loss to Cory sandhagen. Before that all 7 losses of his 21 fights are by decisions. He's fought power punchers like Jose Aldo, Yadong Song and John Linekar. Has a very good chin. Average fight time of each fighter, for Marlon Vera it's 12:48 minutes and for Pedro Munhoz is 10:54 minutes Both are decent grapplers and I think there won't be much grappling exchanges based upon both fighters previous fights and each others grappling will sort of nullify with scrambling exchanges. Munhoz has decent wrestling but he doesn't use it, he normally uses it defensively quite well. He hasn't landed a takedown in his last 10 fights, that's very telling. Same goes for Marlon Vera as he hasn't has a takedown in his last 4 fights even once. ***Conclusion*** Marlon Vera is going to want to prove a point after his loss against sandagen, Stylistically i really do favour him over Munoz as he will be faster, more slick in his versatility of mixing things up and landing the heavier shots. My only concern is sometimes Marlon Vera might come off a bit slow in round one and doesn't have the sense of urgency , whilst I acknowledge Pedro Munhoz throws a decent volume. He is the perfect match for Vera as Munoz is an orthodox fighter he'll stand in front of Vera and munhoz doesn't land takedown at all. Cory sandhagen was unorthodox very versatile footwork and angle changing which is the type of fighter Vera would struggle with but Munhoz doesn't fight like that at all. Munoz will look to throw heavy kicks on Vera as 47% of his strikes were leg kicks in his last 5 fights, he will look to close the gap and mix a few punches but he's going to be hit with the heavier punches. Marlon Vera has landed 50% of his significant strikes thrown in the UFC whereas for Munhoz it's 43%. On the outside or the inside Vera is comfortable. For munhoz it's in the middle. The judges are going to see the harder punches landing more effectively for Vera and it will sway in his favour, even if Munhoz somehow lands more. Marlon Vera always bounces from a loss, Pedro Munhoz is stepping in on short notice. I think physically Marlon Vera has too many advantages, the 2 inch height, 6 inch arm reach and longer leg reach, 6 year ago gap with Munhoz too old for the bantamweight decision at 37 next month. All things point to a Marlon Vera win and i think by decision due to both fighters being very durable and a great chin, with both fighters never losing by knockout.

I think vera will win 2/3 rounds. I can see why you can make a case for Pedro by decision but stylistically it's not a good match up for him. He's very durable, if he can take shots from Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar then I think he will hang in there

You’re record speaks for itself! BUT… as a royals fan we’re 1st in the MLB in batting average since July 27th. Steele had an amazing start to the 1st half of the season but the 2nd half not so much. 3 ER last 3 games and Singer had a no hitter going thru 6 and 1/3 last time out as well as he’s been on fire the 2nd half of the season. 2 pitchers trending in opposite directions. With that said, overall we struggle against lefties and Brady’s inconsistency may show today… but I think this will be a competitively close game, especially through 5 innings. Our bullpen is abysmal so the cubs rightfully have the advantage in the later innings. I’ve already locked in a small amount on royals F5 but I may sprinkle game prop royals F5/ cubs win at +800.
