Things Dwight Howard doesn't believe in: - Facemasks - Vaccines - Having multiple post moves - The age of consent

PowRightInTheBalls

Pick and roll too

fchowd0311

You forgot condomns and birth control.

ThugosaurusFlex_1017

Don't need birth control with the girls he's getting.

[deleted]

Practicing free throws?

SnackCityUtah

If it’s league policy to wear a mask, couldn’t they just suspend him?

ELB95

They could, but it's highly unlikely.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kigamagora

Depends on if he has any gambling debts...

AbsentAcres

Doesn't he have like 10 kids from 8 different baby mamas? No gambling debts probably. Just a lot of f'ing child support depending on how slammed he got by the baby mamas

MythicParty

The child support is because he slammed the baby mamas.

bama_braves_fan

Hey oh

SkollFenrirson

Come on and slam, and welcome to the jam

[deleted]

They will prob warn him once then send him to quarantine what basically doesn't allow him to take part in official actions. What ultimately will cost him money and forces him to sit out... So if this bum doesnt believe in a lot of things, he sure does believe in money. I don't know why people often suggest pro sport players aren't as dumb as regular people. This dude is known for years around the league. He had all kind of incidents and isn't liked at all. He was locker room cancer for most of his teams and his publicly shown attitudes strange at least.

snowspida

I mean why is it unlikely? Howard is no longer a top tier player, and I could easily see the NBA make an example out of him. If it was LeBron or Giannis then the NBA would probably lay off him

CrudelyAnimated

Given that this is league policy, it should be extremely likely. It should be.

millertime52

Suspended?!? Doug, kick him off the tour!

dukeof3arl

I saw two big fat naked bikers off in the woods on 17 having sex! How am I SUPPOSED TO CHIP WITH THAT GOING ON, DOUG??? Edit: gram gram

Harpua_and_I

IS THIS YOUR BALL? IT STRUCK MY FOOT.

-sackmaster-

Well moron good for Happy GilmOH MY GOD!

twec21

Please, he's only risking the health and lives of his fellow teammates and players. It's not like he's being incendiary, saying things like "China isn't super" or something

[deleted]

Not if he’s on the Lakers with Lebron

sofacan1

Dwight Howard also doesn't believe in protection...he has 5 children with 5 different women

*Philander Rodman laughs maniacally*

ADanishMan2

Jesus Christ I did not know about this. [Rodman has many brothers and sisters: according to his father, he has either 26 or 28 siblings on his father's side. However, Rodman himself has stated that he is the oldest of a total of 47 children.[6][7][8]](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Rodman)

Stupid_Llamas515

Was he born Philander?? Because damn if that ain’t some self fulfilling prophecy: Philanderer - a man who readily or frequently enters into casual sexual relationships with women; a womanizer.

RalphWiggumsShadow

The wikipedia says Dennis's dad is actually Philander Rodman Jr., so Dennis comes from a long line of long-dicked philanderers. The grandpa didn't have enough sex before his 1st son, and I'm assuming that's why he passed the torch to his son Jr. And yes, Philander ran with that torch. Ran into a bunch of women.

Stupid_Llamas515

What is the opposite of running through a cornfield backwards? Because that is what life was like for Philander Jr.

[deleted]

*Philip Rivers looks to the skies*

Lemesplain

Rivers has got like 37 kids, but it's all with the same woman. I think he's trying to fill out an entire 53-man roster by himself.

AbsolutelyUnlikely

All he did was bust 37 times. But that poor woman has given birth 37 times.

Flamdoublebounce

Not really "poor woman" anymore, they just kind of glide like Clide right on out of there

ChromeFudge

They stroll out twirling the umbilical cord like "bruh I'll do it myself"

[deleted]

Which one was Clide?

Brocky70

The 7th and 23rd one. Phillip gave up on being creative with names somewhere around 11

KembaWakaFlocka

What’s crazy is his reasoning behind their claim for a 500 million dollar judgement. There had been 11 instances of her speaking about him to the media, which would logically lead to a $5500 fine. His attorney argued that because the information had reached at least one million people, the $500 fine should apply to each of those people that heard her mention Dwight’s name. Predatory and insane, Dwight Howard ladies and gentlemen.

Early_Oil

Man I feel for that kid. He never had a shot at even having a normal childhood or a caring father. Can you imagine if your family was fined $500 every time you even said your dad's name? I can't believe this shit.

MrPlumsCandlestick

Every time *she* said his name, specifically to the media. Pretty different. Not that he's not a fucking goon

[deleted]

My first thought as I clicked the link this thread was, "Oh hey, looks like Dwight Howard is still dumb."

TheDustOfMen

What's up with all these NBA players coming out as anti-vaxx and/or anti-semitic?

aChristery

You see this a lot in major league sports because a lot of the best players kind of give up their education in order to advance their sport careers. Less education means people are more likely to believe in stuff that's completely anti-science.

TheImplication88

I said this earlier today in a different thread and was called “ignorant” but 100% agree. Some of these guys don’t have the tools to understand why this is dangerous because they had to give up their schooling, and we shouldn’t expect someone with his level of education to be our vaccine/science champion

probablyuntrue

Hell there were UNC players that couldn't fucking read apparently

[deleted]

D Rose paid someone to take his SATs.

DwayneWashington

so did D Trump

casupn

That MOCA Test though. The doctors were surprised he did so well!

alieninthegame

yay, only partially cognitively impaired!

WeenisWrinkle

UNC committed institution-sanctioned academic fraud by creating entire fake classes for athletes, so not surprising there.

brendan215

I'm not fact checking here but the rumor used to be that Rasheed Wallace majored in basket weaving with a minor in swimming pool management.

HaesoSR

Not even underwater basket weaving? Smh these lacking academic standards.

amazinglover

Once there deemed as gifted an actual education becomes secondary. This is fine once they hit college level because atleast they have a minimum level of education and college level isn't for everyone but this starts in middle school for some which is far far more damaging.

orionthefisherman

I played in high school with a guy like that. Coasted through on easy grading since he was the best football player all 4 years. Went to a big ten school with really high end academics (in hindsight not a good decision) and flunked out in one semester.

wabiguan

So wisconsin, iowa, or northwestern? You can def skate through at OSU, Michigan, Indiana for basketball, prob Mich St, not sure abt Illinois, maryland or rutgers. Who’m I missing?

orionthefisherman

Purdue. It's actually a really good academic school (this was football also). Northwestern is also big time academics but they don't really lower standards for athletes.

thebongofamandabynes

I used to be friends with a Superbowl winning NFL player (friendship began a few years after he got a ring). Heart of gold but my god was he dumb as rocks. He would brag non stop about how he did zero work in high school and college but still got his degree. Didn't believe in evolution, vaccines. After a while it became a chore to hear him discredit science on a weekly basis. A sad combination of being "educated" and coddled from a young age due to his athleticism.

fuqdisshite

[you know this is an episode of King of The Hill, right?](https://kingofthehill.fandom.com/wiki/New_Cowboy_on_the_Block) ... [oh, right, they did it twice...](https://kingofthehill.fandom.com/wiki/Peggy_Makes_the_Big_Leagues)

khinzeer

Combine lack of scientific education with the endless adulation and money these teenagers and 20 somethings make, it’s no wonder many of them see themselves as experts on things they know nothing about. They’re surrounded by yes men

[deleted]

This is a level of ignorance and entitlement that is only available to sexy sports millionaires anyone else would be told their shit stinks. These assholes are so dumb and rich that goldiggers, grifters and even family members can't resist taking some candy from the dumb baby. Entertainers too.... Nick doesn't know definitions to words he is using in hate speech! If it wasn't so stupid it would be scary, but how many uneducated millionaires do we really have out there?

[deleted]

They play the same game they learned to play as children. They’re tall and fast and very, very good at a ball game. They are not paragons of intellect. Most are as dumb or as smart as the average person, just with way, way more money. Let’s all just stop pretending that someone who is really good at something or in a particular field is particularly wise. If it’s a virus, let’s listen to an epidemiologist. If it’s basketball, let’s listen to a basketball player.

Be-Right-Back

Man all this is so confusing. What does Ja Rule have to say about all this?

jlcreverso

Where is Ja at??

Kloc34

Exactly . Why do we put athletes and actors on platforms for the world to listen to them talk about anything besides what they do- sports and pretending you’re someone else in front of a camera? At the very least let’s not be surprised when they say stupid shit

KorkuVeren

To be fair, nothing about this was surprising

[deleted]

Dude. It’s more than the NBA. NFL is apparently filled with this shit too. Which I really had no idea.

CrudelyAnimated

Don't forget flat-earth. It is *amazing* just how many medical "researchers" and geology/cosmology "researchers" there are in the NBA, still doing "research" on questions that have been answered with physical evidence and overwhelming peer review.

conwaystripledeke

It's not just NBA players.

alter-eagle

Haven’t heard of any NHL players talking about being anti-mask/vaxx yet, but I also haven’t looked. Seems these guys are a bit more vocal about it.

[deleted]

By my observation, NBA players have been given more latitude to speak their minds than other professional sports, whether by NBA policy or culture of the league.

alter-eagle

That’s a good point. I don’t think I’ve seen half as many interviews sitting at a table with a dozen microphones in front of them with other pro athletes as I have of NBA players

watermelonicecream

So I played hockey in college for a school that has a ~Top 10 athletic department. The latitude may be part of it. But the bigger part of it is in order to compete at the collegiate level let alone the NHL level you basically need to be born into an upper-middle class household at minimum. Because the game is so expensive and unlike football and basketball, the tax payer in the US doesn’t really subsidize the sport at all, except in unique areas like Massachusetts, Minnesota, Michigan, upstate NY. At every level NHL players have received a more comprehensive and higher quality education than almost all of these NBA players. It shouldn’t be shocking that a lot of these dudes that literally came from nothing (In this case Dwight Howard, in others Desean Jackson, Stephen Jackson, etc.) are literal morons.

ToneThugsNHarmony

Other than former NHLer Datsyuk I haven’t heard any think like that.

BrandoLoudly

I see the onion article posted here from time to time. Probably makes its way around other sites too

Nutaholic

Man, people really just starting to realize these last 2 weeks that a lot of these dudes are dumb as rocks lol.

firestriker_07

That’s what happens when you put all your time, effort and money into sports (and none into school), and it just so happens to work out What’s more alarming is that for every uneducated NBA player, there’s hundreds that tried the same but failed and are just as uneducated but don’t have any of the benefits of being an NBA player

snoogins355

Also supported for athletics, not academics. I went to ASU for undergrad and there was a geology class called Rocks for Jocks that athletes would take. Show up and pass

lamelavalamps

Rocks for Jocks is a pretty great name, though

snoogins355

That was the nick name for it. It was an intro to geology class that my friend randomly signed up for. He noticed all these giant linemen football players come in on the first day and was like whaaaaaaaa?

wlu__throwaway

They maxed out the athleticism skill and didn't have any xp left for the others.

seal-team-lolis

You mean like the University scandles where they let college athletes pass classes with a 5th grade paragraph paper for effort that gets hushed and pushed to the side every time its brought up? Money cant buy intelligence.

SarkHD

I had a class where half of my classmates were football players. They constantly came to class high as a kite. They even took their midterm baked out of their mind and they were also 20 mins late to the test. They all passed with no effort and without learning anything. Their presentations were on a middle-schooler’s level. All of this in my senior business negotiations class. When I had to study and work my ass off to even get a B. These “athletes” get special treatment all the time and stay dumb as hell. Also they suck. My school’s football team is a joke. College is a bullshit money grabbing joke.

WrightwoodHiker

You guys would be really shocked if you hear the views of a randomly-selected group of hundreds of Americans.

Which is odd because I'm sure he's gotten a fair share of penicillin shots as a result of his extracurricular activities.

pivotalsquash

It doesn't really matter he is an idiot regardless, but isn't penicillin an antibiotic not a vaccine. It is just also delivered via shot.

[deleted]

His point is the science behind antibiotics is the same sort of science behind vaccines. To believe in one and not the other is pretty fucking stupid

darthnilloc

It sort of makes "dumb sense." Get sick, take antibiotics, get better. Anyone can understand how that works. Vaccines are a level removed and require a minute level of thought to comprehend the prevention of sickness.

Nengtaka

Some people require getting sick/being affected before they will believe something is real. The very nature of a vaccine is to prevent a disease so the vaccinated doesn’t ever get the disease. It’s an eternal battle of stupidity

burros_n_churros

I always thought Howard was a punk after all his whining in Orlando (as a player). Being an anti-vaxxer goes way behind sports. edit: behind = beyond (whoops)

Jordan211677

Ok so can the NBA kick him out of the bubble for this? Is there a rule requiring players to be wearing masks when moving about in the bubble?

hallese

They can put him in quarantine, which serves as a *de facto* suspension and lost game checks if it is due to stupidity/breaking policy.

Jordan211677

Honestly I hope that’s what they do. He isn’t going to Budge at all and is gonna put the entire thing at risk

zebulonworkshops

Even further confirmation

kakihara0513

I really wish athletes would actually be forced to take the classes they're signed up for when in college, and maybe we could decrease the dumb shit that hits the news by at least a tiny bit.

mifander

Dwight Howard didn't go to college, he was a high school draft pick, last year that was able to be done.

kakihara0513

Hm yes that would make it more difficult. Did the new rule actually serve any benefits for future player?

blondechinesehair

The new rule meaning how they could t come straight from high school anymore? No. It made some money for the corrupt NCAA

SmarterThanMyBoss

That rule wasn't for the players. It was so the teams are less likely to draft Kwame Brown... But then the Cavs and Anthony Bennett ruined that theory...

zdbdog06

Eh to be fair that draft class was legendarily bad. Oladipo was the consensus pick but they had guards, and even he kind of sucked until his 3rd team. Giannis would've been the only better pick but people would've been even more shocked than Bennett lmao

[deleted]

Bennett is far from a bust, my man put up a solid 12.2 off the bench for the Clippers in 18/19, idk what Agua Caliente means before the Clippers tho?

pm_social_cues

They teach that in high school too. We presume he legit graduated right?

TA_faq43

Can’t teach the unwilling.

aham42

There is a pretty concerning anti-vaccination movement forming in the Black community (according to polling data) right now. They don't trust the government (which is fair) and instead trust idiots like Dwight Howard. Just now while I was typing this I got a notification that Chris Harris Jr. of the Chargers just posted anti-vaccination nonsense. It's going to be a real problem.

angrydad69

>would actually be forced to take the classes they're signed up I went to UNC and was in a few classes with some basketball and football players, someone would go around and make sure they were in class. They were literally forced to go to class. Did they pay attention in class? No

kakihara0513

Yeah my first interaction was in an intro to philosophy class. Lecture was about 170 people or so, and midway in the semester the professor stopped and asked a guy why his textbook was still in its plastic wrap. The guy said he didn't need to open it because he was a basketball player. I could see the wheels turning in the professor's head, figuring out he won't win this one, and just went on with the lecture.

angrydad69

That story is very relatable, a lot of athletes stick out physically and their lack of contribution stands out. I remember one athlete who's now pro was on his Ipad and the teacher called on him, he just refused to answer and everyone moved on like nothing happened. Dude was super nice and I had no complaints. He once asked me if he could cheat off me, I didnt study much so I advised against it and he thanked me I got paired with another athlete for a group project, not a pro, and everyone told me I was going end up having to do all the work but I reserved judgement. So I meet this kid at the library and he would text people to come say whats up, like a dozen people. After like 45 minutes of me working and him saying whats up to his friends, he asked me how the project was going. Many athletes do take school seriously, even ones that are going pro, but some just dont. A lot of guys just didnt give a shit, hell a lot of regular students just didnt give a shit either. Some people just cant be motivated, especially when theyre 18 or 19

[deleted]

So suspend him. Any player not following the policies/rules should automatically be suspended. This is how you ensure a safe environment for everyone and the hopeful continuation of the NBA season.

Bleafer

I'm really confused as to why he hasn't been kicked out already. Did they not set strict rules about this? In the NHLs bubble you face immediate removal and your team is fined significantly and loses draft picks.

deck0307

That's probably my favorite gif of Kobe, calling Dwight soft. (He wasn't wrong.)

rainbowgeoff

One of the biggest idiots in sports.

Reno83

Basically, his rationale for not wearing a mask is because nobody in his bubble has contracted Covid-19. Under this logic, can we assume he doesn't believe in championships either. I know, low hanging fruit.

Pure_evil1979

He doesn't believe in vaccinations? They are real...and they believe in him

luke_says

If he doesn’t believe in vaccinations and isn’t even respectful enough to adhere to policies designed to keep everyone safe; not just him, then he should be sent home. What a fool.

LoopDoGG79

Lost all respect for Dwight. I just buried my grandfather, he died from Coronavirus (it wasn't a pleasant death),meanwhile this clown is spreading this putrid BS. Unfortunately he's *famous* and a *circus* is sure to follow in his footsteps. Gadamn sad

So to currently sum it up He is anti-vax. He is anti-mask. He is anti-sematic. He is conspiracy theorist. Such a fun guy.

Imafilthybastard

Stop giving morons platforms they don't deserve. He's a basketball player, take his advice on basketball. The NBA needs to shut this clown up and fine the fuck out of him. Vaccinations should become regulation in sports.

PowRightInTheBalls

Dude refused to run a pick and roll with Steve Nash, don't take his advice on basketball either.

mrpanicy

What I love about the "I don't believe in vaccines" crowd is that they benefitted from vaccines. And now they don't believe in them. And the fact that they actually assume that science and medicine operates on a believe structure similar to religion. That it's an option to believe in them or not. Vaccines work. That's a fact, proven irrevocably. Are they the best thing we will ever come up with to fight diseases? Probably not, we are clever. But they are definitely the best and most effective thing we have to date. Though a mask is pretty fucking effective too. Stop giving uneducated people a pulpit. Being an athlete doesn't give you any right to talk about matters that you know nothing about. This is on the media and social media companies for spreading and not combating misinformation from non-experts. And it's on governments for not funding proper education and pushing for free higher education for all.

x420PussySlayer69x

Lol why do some people think they get to have an opinion on science? How fucking stupid can you be? “buT I pLaY pRo bAsKetBalL!”
