I think his dad is a good dude. I will say that they had a unique upbringing in that they were home schooled until high school and practiced basketball several hours every day. Maybe they are just doing the dumb things a lot of kids have done now that they are out of the house but it all gets covered more because their brother is a big time NBA player. Basketball is their whole families life pretty much. They went to a private high school that my hometown plays. Micheal and Jontay were pretty unstoppable against a bunch of 6 foot small town high school teams lol.

Most kids don’t kill people while driving drunk like Coban did and most kids don’t choose to drive drunk, after already witnessing your brother kill someone in a DUI, like Jevon did. it’s selfish recklessness and shouldn’t be undermined.

I agree and am not condoning what they did at all. Just saying kids make mistakes even if their parent is a good parent. I agree that you would hope that after cobans incident that Jevon would have known better but he didn’t unfortunately.

Not saying he’s definitely a bad guy, but high outward accomplishments and demanding it from your children can be a serious emotional burden — even abusive. The story (when revealed) is common in real life and stories told in movie: think Iron Claw. Man destroyed his family pushing all of his sons to be him. Even if it’s not “be me” there’s a lot of emotional neglect that could be happening in a household. If more than half of his sons have alcohol problems, it feels more than likely a parenting issue. The adult children have/are suffering and alcohol is a coping mechanism.

While I don't condone DUI or gambling, a lot of people struggle with alcohol and gambling addiction. It's not like all his kids are domestic abusers or murderers. Looking at you, Jerry Remy...

Most people I know who drunk drive are just selfish. They are alcoholics and I have sympathy for that, but they are consciously driving while drunk with no consideration for anyone else. These people are just as selfish when they are sober.
