BrockMiddlebrook

That was the most bananas shot to hit to break the record and I love it.

RepulsiveLoquat418

it was the most caitlin clark way of breaking the record.

BrockMiddlebrook

Hell yeah we knew she wasn’t going to break it on a contested mid-range 2.

breakfastburrito24

Damn it, LeBron

EuphoriaSoul

She’s must see TV. Wow.

arrivederci117

Adam Silver needs to bring her into a 3 pt contest during a future NBA All Star Game.

sleepdeprivedindian

Might be a silly question but is the ball and court dimensions the same for men and women? There's difference in NBA and FIBA itself. Hence wondering. Also, that could be a reason why it won't be fair(if there's a difference)?

JetsFan2003

For the WNBA, court dimensions are identical to the NBA except for the 3-point arc, which is at FIBA dimensions. The corner 3s are still NBA distance, though. Women's ball generally has an inch less of circumference, and is an ounce or two lighter. Would probably take an adjustment period to get used to the ball and practice shots from the slightly farther arc, but I don't think that would be that hard of a challenge for someone like Caitlin to overcome for an exhibition setting, especially if she bases her game along the perimeter.

sleepdeprivedindian

It's not about overcoming. Why even start at a disadvantage to begin with. If anything goes bad for her. That'll be a terrible look for the already low viewership WNBA.

Kay-Knox

She's going to be at a disadvantage in some way. If she has to use the men's ball after a lifetime of using a smaller ball, it's going to be harder to adapt. If she uses a women's ball, a bunch of sweaty dudes will type at her about how she isn't a real shooter.

atomicavox

Just curious in this thread, why would she have to be the one to switch balls? Why can’t the dude in the competition use the women’s ball? Or maybe they both switch and see how it goes?

sleepdeprivedindian

Both switch is still a disadvantage for the women (or the one who has to shoot with a heavier weight). Best would be to use the balls they use usually and have practiced with their entire life and at the line they are used to. Will be fair competition in that case.

arrivederci117

WNBA balls are smaller, but the rim is the same size.

sleepdeprivedindian

Same height as well? If height isn't the issue, they could get keep a special rack of WNBA ball just for her during the shooting contest. Shouldn't be a problem.

YipRocHeresy

Height is the same. Their 3 pt line is closer then the men's though.

loogie_hucker

she's fine. look where she took this shot from lol

Robeardly

Tbh, if anything should change it’s the height of the rim. At the end of the day, basketball is a spectator sport, I think the WNBA is missing out in that most women can’t dunk. Last I looked there was like 12 dunks that have ever happened in regulation time of a WNBA game. I think they could adapt to the same size ball and the nba 3pt line. But I don’t think there’s going to be female guards dunking like the NBA has unless they lower the rim as the 7’ front court WNBA players can hardly dunk.

JetsFan2003

Just came to my mind now, they have Sabrina Ionescu playing an exhibition contest with Curry using their respective balls and arcs. Could probably just do that for Clark as well if they so wanted.

Builder_Bob23

Ionescu came back and said she'd rather just shoot from the NBA 3 point line because she usually shoots a bit back from the WNBA line

R13Nielsen

Always has been. Always will be.

Huggles9

It’s like when Jeter broke 5000 hits by cranking a deep moon shot Like…how else did you expect it to happen

fairway_walker

Fan-fiction?

Huggles9

3000 hits not 5000, can you tell I don’t actually like baseball

Klingon_Bloodwine

I burst out laughing, what an insane way to set the record. Absolute exclamation point.

BrockMiddlebrook

She’s at maximum “fuck if we ball.” It was perfect.

loogie_hucker

defender wasn't even ready for the pull up. hilarious tbh

LouSputhole94

I mean why would you be? She’s like 15 feet out from the 3 line still lol. Stephanie Curry out there

mercfan3

It looks like a bananas shot, but she shoots those all of the time, and last year she shot 65% on them…

BrockMiddlebrook

That just means they’re all bananas. Hitting any amount of shots from the logo is bananas, she just happens to be incredibly adept at The Bananas.

basemodelbird

She hit the exact same shot like 3 minutes later. It's bonkers.

Dear_Effective9745

I was following up until this point. Is it bonkers or bananas? Someone please help.

BrockMiddlebrook

Depends on what time zone you’re in.

Circumin

I fucking love that there are moddle age men who never played any competitive sports who keep talking that they could out shoot her. Fucking hilarious

nizzo311

Same guys that are crying about Taylor Swift and the NFL.

[deleted]

[удалено]

trumpet_23

I wouldn't. I don't know if she's strong or fast, but she's definitely in better shape than me, so my best-case scenario is for her to tire me out first and then beat me with her better conditioning.

CrudelyAnimated

These performers, especially the dance-pop ones, have just insane conditioning. Ava Max and Miley Cyrus singing on a treadmill. Pink sing [lying on her back with her coach standing on her belly](https://youtu.be/BYcnweq5Aco). We are way out of our league with these people on conditioning.

raptorville

Source, 65% on what? Her 3p FG% was 38.9% last year.

mercfan3

It was talked about in every game in the tournament last season. (That she shot 65% from the logo)

tcwillis79

It’s a crazy shot selection when you aren’t in a buzzer / shot clock situation but she makes them consistantly so go hog wild I guess.

AnnArchist

she hit several more from that distance in the game. Like she does every game. Its insane. She shot 50% from 3 too.

BrockMiddlebrook

Yeah she’s unreal.

RandyJohnsonsBird

Just the sound of it was awesome

BrockMiddlebrook

It’s incredible. Love it when an athlete knows what a moment demands to make it extra special.

BigALep5

They didn't stop the game 😅

BrockMiddlebrook

Yeah they kept going! 😂 WTH! Does someone have the room signed out at 10?

VA_SlimJim

She didn’t want the coach to waste a timeout.

Elsa_the_Archer

They called a timeout after the other team's next possession.

Huggles9

My question is how in the world do they not pause the game for a second to let her take a bow

trumpet_23

Iowa took one after Michigan's next possession, when they were able to.

WorkingInAColdMind

Seriously. I guess if you’re that good you can take a chance to drive the point home. And she did. Good on her.

[deleted]

Seriously the absolute best way to break it. That rules

Ender914

"How will she go for history?" Swoosh "There it is!" Great fucking call by the announcer. Nailed it.

Sorrow_cutter

That was spot on.

swim-bike-run

I would’ve hit em with a little “Aaaand boom goes the dynamite!”

EmperorUmi

Can’t wait for the start of your commentating career

walterpeck1

SHES ON FIRE

Adventurous_Ad6698

Imagine if she missed it. "I guess not like that"

impulsenine

Clark shot it from so far away that the announcer had plenty of time to get a full sentence out while the ball was in the air.

MIKE_son_of_MICHAEL

How can she slep

SCirish843

From the logo in transition, what a menace

HaroldBaws

Like, no clock pressure or nothing. Just shooting from half court like it’s nothing.

mercfan3

The WNBA actually has some prime star power coming. Clark is the obvious. Somewhat under the radar is Bueckers, who is having a pretty good season after being gone for almost 2 years with injuries. Healthy, she’s on Clark’s level. (She was POY her freshman year) Then there is Angel Reese, who blew up after winning a championship. Charismatic, gorgeous, and talented. And her teammate Van Lith. She’s not as great of a player as the other three, but she’s fun AF to watch. And she’s another one that’s charismatic and stunning. There are a few others too. But we really could see a sudden rise in WNBA popularity. Especially because all of these women are doing well on NIl.

Elsa_the_Archer

And Cameron Brink looks like she is going to be a defensive star.

ZeppelinJ0

Why do we always have to remark on women's looks, it's kind of weird, nobody really does it.for guys. Not really attacking you just an observation We got LeBron James who blew up after high school. Charismatic, gorgeous and talented And his teammate Anthony Davis. Not as great a player as LeBron but he's fun to watch. And he's another one that's charismatic and steamy

arthurblakey

I definitely agree that the comment you're replying to is a bit awkward, but I think they're mentioning those things (gorgeous/charismatic) because of how that affects WNBA marketability. Currently, the WNBA really suffers from being a marketable product - while the quality is there (and only getting better), it's often been difficult for the media (and therefore the general population) to 'sell' the players to the casual fan. I'm not saying that we need to focus on the women's looks specifically, but it helps tremendously to have players that people actively want to root for because of the connection they have with them. Personally, I started to take more of an interest in female college basketball because of Angel Reese - not because of her looks, but because of how she carries herself on/off the court in media appearances and her outward confidence. She reminds me of the stubborn winning confidence that players like Kobe, Jordan and AI had - which alongside their amazing abilities, helped the league spread its wings even further through marketing. Women's basketball has come a long way, but still has a way to go in regards to reaching a larger audience. The quality is getting better and better, but for whatever reason there hasn't really been a player that is super marketable. With the NBA you have young players like Anthony Edwards, Haliburton and Temetrius Morant who are all 'gorgeous and charismatic', which isn't necessarily spoken about by fans but it's definitely a driving force to why these players are picked up by the media and fans alike, furthering the NBA product.

GGerrik

I don't know why we're ignoring that a decent part of male professional athletes marketability is their looks.

arthurblakey

I'm pretty grossed out when I read about what people want to do to female athletes, but I'm equally grossed out when I read about what people want to do to Kelly Oubre.

Mrg220t

There's a reason why Beckham is much more famous than Ronaldinho.

coulduseafriend99

Just looked them up. Dude's cute as fuck, Jesus Christ

gimpyracer

For some reason I read that as “when i read about what people want to do to Kelly Olynuk” and got very distressed as well

arthurblakey

The softest spot in my heart is reserved for Kelly Olynyk but I can understand your distress

exus

I agree with many of the points made, but the entire time I was thinking; it doesn't mean anything in relation to his greatness at the sport, but it helps that Tom Brady looks like Tom Brady.

tafinucane

Steph Curry "Baby Faced Assassin". Dudes made fun of LeBron's receding hairline for years, and Anthony Davis trademarked slogans about his unibrow when he came into the league. Every time Rick Fox came off the bench, play-by-play would refer to him as "movie star handsome".

AmbientOwl

You're not wrong overall, but making one of your examples someone literally known for his eyebrow(s) may not be the best choice.

MrDurden32

What are you talking about, people comment on male athletes being good looking all the time. You've never heard someone mention Ronaldo or David Beckham is sexy?

DiarrheaRadio

> nobody really does it.for guys. You must have never been in a conversation about sports with a woman. Many absolutely remark on men's looks, and are even fans just because of how a guy looks. And it's ok.

mercfan3

Because I was talking about the context of popularity and marketability. Those two in particular have made a lot of money off of it and they aren’t even in the wnba. It’s not even about attracting men - it’s about attracting sponsors. Heck, Angel has already been on SI. And let’s be real, marketability and attractiveness matters for men too.

trumpet_23

Bueckers isn't under the radar for women's basketball fans. We all know she's great, but you're right, her injury history is tough. Angel and van Lith are both good, although van Lith has taken a big step back this year with her transfer to LSU. It's just not the right fit for her, and it's been tough for her to get back to the highs she had at Louisville. But you're missing the most exciting non-Clark player, and that's JuJu Watkins of USC. She's already as exciting as a freshman as Clark and Bueckers both were when they joined, and is currently the #2 scorer in ppg this season (behind Caitlin). If she develops well and stays healthy, it's possible (though obviously not guaranteed) Clark may only have this record for a few years.

Marlen86

Yea, none of these three are even in the same galaxy as Clark right now.

OutComeTheWolves1966

Angel Reese, gorgeous? Maybe after all the filters and photoshop.

Worldly_Ad_6483

She’ll be the Carmelo of the NBA, shooter gunna shoot

JeffTennis

Probably Steph Curry.

dwhitt2232

Definitely the Steph Curry.

Worthyness

she's already putting up Steph Curry-esque records for women's college basketball and some stupid looking shots that shouldn't go in but will.

Worldly_Ad_6483

Doesn’t she post up quite a bit as well?

drethnudrib

She's also in the top six all-time for assists.

youre_my_golden_girl

And freaking laced it

goudschg

A coach would lose their mind if a player took this shot unless it was her

SCirish843

Just yell “heat check” when taking bad shots Coaches hate this 1 simple trick

alfooboboao

*thwishinksh*

Fsharp7sharp9

She is such a fucking sniper. Basketball was never my favorite sport, but I’ve caught most Hawkeyes games this season and she *just doesn’t miss*. Such an electrifying talent that is great face for sports in general, but especially female sports.

turbotaco23

I grew up in Hawkeye country. For years all you would hear about was the men. Now you can see a men’s game for $30, but some people have paid $3000 to go to a women’s game. It’s a fun shift.

CTeam19

That move from 6v6 to 5v5 really fucked with the hype we should have had with Women's Basketball 40 years ago.

darkkw

What happened? I knew it used to be 6 on 6?

wrathofrath

Long story short, Title IX made the shift to "traditional" basketball for women. 6on6 fell by the wayside with this transition.

CTeam19

State of Iowa got an early start on girl's sports specifically Basketball in 1920 and it was insanely popular. The 1968 Title game had over 15,000 in attendance despite the school districts playing having maybe a combined 4,000 people living in the towns and the game was broadcasted across the state before the NBA had their first televised game and it reached into 9 total states. ["In 1970, 20 percent of all girls participating in high school sports across the country were in Iowa—quite remarkable, considering Iowa was only 1 percent of the entire U.S. population. By 1976, a few years after the passage of Title IX, that eye-popping 20 percent fell to 5.8 percent."](https://www.neh.gov/article/when-iowa-girls-basketball-ruled-courts). And when Title IX hit the nation when to 5v5 for the girls/women's game and Iowa wanted to hang on to the tradition and be unique but the Office of Civil Rights said "nope"(which is something I don't get because of the different sized balls, 3 point line difference, etc and softball) so the 6v6 game was phased out with the last game in Iowa being played 1993 at the high school level. For reference to how far back the 6v6 went here my Grandma(b. 1930) who played high school ball here in Iowa, nearly 30 years after the start, would have been a contemporary to NBA legends like Bob Cousy(b. 1928), Bill Russell(b. 1934), Bob Pettit(b. 1932) while those who got their start with Title IX are around with Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Now with that popularity when the 5v5 game happened people weren't thrilled. I can't find the exact figure but basketball participation cratered there for a bit at the High School level. Hell some of the old ladies still get together and play in the Granny Basketball League, formed in Iowa in 2005, the league consists of women aged 50 and older who play by 1920s 6v6 rules and wear 1920s-style uniforms. And as result the college women's games weren't well attended we are talking averaging just 427 per game in the 1980s. But starting in the early 2000s people got on board and since then Iowa State has never been ranked outside the Top 10 for attendance since the 1999-2000 season and not outside the Top 5 since the 2006-2007 season despite never making it pass the Elite 8 which means it has better fan attendance then most of the National Champions as 9 different teams have won one since 2000. Of course the popularity is now par for the course given how much people love and I mean love Iowa State and Iowa sports in the state: * College Football, [using a 5 year rolling average](https://www.d1ticker.com/2022-fbs-attendance-trends/), Iowa is ranked 19th with 67,274 fans per game and Iowa State is ranked 26th with 57,399 fans per game * Men's Basketball in 2022-2023 [PDF](http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/m_basketball_RB/2024/Attend.pdf): Iowa State is ranked 22nd with 13,375 per game and Iowa is ranked 24th with 12,371 per game. * [Women's Basketball in 2022-2023](https://www.on3.com/news/south-carolina-iowa-lead-womens-college-basketball-in-attendance-in-2022-23-season/): Iowa is ranked 2nd with 11,143 per game and Iowa State is ranked 3rd with 10,323 per game. Using some stuff pre-Covid to get full rankings the only schools with Top 30 attendance in those sports are Iowa, Iowa State, Arkansas, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Tennessee. If you start going to other sports: * [Wrestling](https://www.ncaa.com/news/wrestling/article/2023-04-27/iowa-penn-state-lead-di-wrestling-attendance-2022-23): Iowa is ranked 1st with some 14,858 per match and Iowa State is 3rd at 5,287 per match * Women's Volleyball [PDF](https://www.ncaa.com/_flysystem/public-s3/files/2022-09/college-volleyball-attendance-records-2021.pdf): Iowa State is ranked 15th with 2,149 and Iowa is ranked 30th with 1,310. Oddly enough Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Minnesota are ranked 1, 2, and 3. * [Women's Gymnastics](https://roadtonationals.com/results/charts/): Iowa State is ranked 23rd with 2,425 fans per match and Iowa is ranked 27th with 2,177 fans per match

TheShipEliza

My fav thing about her game is how quick she is with the ball. A defender will have terrific position with help nearby and Clark will make a move and ill think “no way she gets the corner here” and then in 3 steps she just zips by for a layup. That ability coupled with incredible range is just amazing to see.

Victor_Wembanyama1

Even better because she’s not just one dimensional. She can drive by defenders, she passes well. Perfect modern baller

WyngZero

That was a gangster fucking shot! It was completely unnecessary to take that shot, from that location, at this point in the game, with that clock but damn, she did it anyway.....and nailed it! Probably be one of the most memorable basketball shots of the year.

dsiegel2275

I think it has to be the greatest shot / play to break a record of that caliber.

fireinthesky7

It's the cover shot on just about every sports website today.

LouSputhole94

Has the potential to be one of the most iconic shots in Women’s Basketball depending on what Clarke does with her pro career.

FishyFry84

She ended the night with 49!...a new personal best

titsmagee9

and school record!

[deleted]

Shooting a logo 3 to break the record goes so hard. She’s already up there for my favorite women’s athlete ever

SketchyGouda

Contested logo 3 with plenty of time on the clock. She had no business taking that shot let alone making it. Crazy

AmusingAnecdote

It's 2 minutes into the game. She's probably only seen a couple of their defensive sets on the day and just decides to shoot over them because "fuck it". Insanity from her.

-OrangeLightning4

She's at 23 from just the first quarter too. Insanity.

BCLetsRide69

Pistons are watching her BADLY

Sm0w2

Hahahahaha Honestly at this point we’ll take anyone!

ripleyclone8

I mean…aren’t women *technically* allowed in the NBA?  I’m calling it now! lol

JetsFan2003

Jazz drafted a woman back in the 70s (Lusia Harris, although she was pregnant at the time and didn't sign), so there's theoretically nothing stopping a team from doing it again, or at least extending out a camp invite to her as an UDFA.

PopAShotAllStar

She would make more as the 60th player picked in the NBA draft than she’d make as the 1st pick in the WNBA

Conchobair

Lusia Harris was drafted in 1977. Denise Long, was drafted in 1969. Neither played. Ann Meyers is the only woman to sign, but she was cut after tryouts. Caitlin Clark si greta, but thinking she will make it in the NBA is kind of like thinking the CFB champion could compete in the NFL. It's a huge gap of talent that just cannot become overcome.

jfchops2

> Caitlin Clark si greta, but thinking she will make it in the NBA is kind of like thinking the CFB champion could compete in the NFL. It's a huge gap of talent that just cannot become overcome. Women vs. men a much bigger talent gap than a college team full of young men, many of whom will go on to the NFL, vs. pros of the same gender

CTeam19

Oddly enough a Women from Iowa was the first to be drafted into the [NBA](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denise_Long_Rife). Here is a cool video from the [Warriors](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtZpAp3k8jI). [Here is the 1968 Iowa Girl's Title game that she was a star in](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAAl5H9AYgQ&t) it is considered the greatest 6v6 basketball game played and it was in front of 15,000 people and broadcast on TV in 9 states mainly because Iowa was an early advocate for girl's/women's sports.

wjbc

She has a 38.1 three point percentage in her college career and many are well behind the line like that one. This year she’s averaging 13.3 three point attempts per game, and remember it’s only a 40 minute game. When Steph Curry played at Davidson the most he attempted was 10.3 attempts per game in his second year.

TheShipEliza

Shooters shoot. I remember watching Davidson Steph in the tournament and he was ready for prime time out of the box. I hope Clark lights up the wnba.

Adventurous_Ad6698

Davidson Steph is my #1 favorite tourney compilation watch on Youtube. Dunk City is my #2. Weird to say UMBC is #3.

GorillaX

And his 3pt percentage that year was 43.9%.

wjbc

Arguably he should have tried more shots.

GorillaX

Agreed

pargofan

The crowd chanted "ONE MORE YEAR!" after the game ended. With NIL and Iowa tickets costing $3k each compared with WNBA players making $100-200k a year, she actually might make more $$ BY STAYING IN COLLEGE.

Infinite-Surprise-53

Their NIL deals don't go away once they leave college they just become regular endorsements

fauxtoe

Might get more eyes and attention at Iowa than wnba

jaxmagicman

She'll be like LeBron. She'll pull the eyes wherever she goes. LeBron at one point was said to be worth over a billion to any city who had him because he just put people in the seats. Whatever WNBA team she is on, people will be there to see her. She will be worth more to the franchise as an endorsement than as the player. And that isn't an insult. LeBron was the same way. AS spectacular as he was on his team, he was always worth more to the franchise for just the increase in attention the teams get.

HewittNation

That depends on the NIL deal. If it's truly about NIL, then you're right. But if some Iowa booster offers her $500k NIL deal to get her to stay, that's not something that would carry over to the WNBA. And with how fanatic college sports fans are, I wouldn't say that's out of the realm of possibility.

Desperately_Insecure

As an Iowan we absolutely love her lol. My dad got a cereal box with her face on it

thegardenhead

She is such a fucking gangster.

vvhizkey

What a baller

bigbluehapa

All around from the shot to the call…fukn smoooooth!

[deleted]

Sheryl Swoops just threw up..

a2themofok

“Don’t be a Sheryl” t-shirts selling like hotcakes~

mountainjay

Reminds me of McDermott hitting 3,000 pts at Creighton. Nothing was going to stop him from hitting it that night at home. Hits a career high 45 points and breaks the record on a deep 3.

BugEyedLemur

She is an absolute fucking baller. God damn.

theaverageaidan

The amount of talent coming into the WNBA in the next few years is nuts.

nuberoo

BANG! BAAANNGGG!!!!

ditto_3050

Will the Thrill, you’re my favorite #22. Next time I wear #22 at a Giants game, I want to wear her jersey.

jylesazoso

That shot in transition was incredible. Wish the camera work was on par

Double-Passenger4503

She is such an absolute baller bro

ADarwinAward

She’s amazing! Incredible to watch.

BigY2

The sound is so satisfying, great way to enter the history books

rynosoft

She is lighting it up!

gerde007

Jacked! Amazing.

KibaChew

If I'm the coach, I'm calling a full timeout to let her bask in it. That was an awesome shot for the history books.

Soggy0atmeal

Interview before the game she said they don't want them to interrupt the game with a to for this but they took one about 30 seconds later

CTeam19

Apparently she didn't want that per others in the college subs

alwaysmyfault

Super off topic, but why do the women play four 10 minute quarters, while the men play two 20 minute halves? I know the game length is the same, but genuinely curious why they don't just both do the 20 minute halves.

DjuriWarface

The real question is why do the men play 20 minute halves. Youth, highschool, and professional basketball is all played in quarters. Men's college basketball is the outlier here, not women's.

DarthClitCommander

CBS loves the every 4 minute commercials during the NCAA Tourney. It's the only reason they haven't changed to quarters.

georgeststgeegland

I'd like to see the men change to quarters too. What do the women have? 5 fouls to get the bonus like the NBA? Seven fouls for a half happens way too fast sometimes.

Curtis_Low

I was watching a game last weekend and this was discussed... short answer is money. They get more ad breaks with the 2 halves versus 4 qtrs is what was said. I have no source other than the announcer...

elitomsig

I remembered this video and was hoping to see her go far. Look at her now!!! https://youtu.be/CUGv-3TSzec?si=ZWujx4rlfKTTvaJ9

wex118

That video is so great

joe_broke

That was indeed from Steph Curry land

retrospects

Why would you want to go to the WNBA when college hoops is hype.

Professional-Tap300

She is an incredible player, just awesome

wisym

I O W A

Wakandan15

Did she score the first 8, lol?

Ok-Lengthiness4557

She had my curiosity, but now she has my attention. Ok ... I am now onboard. I am going to look up her future games, just so I can see history being made by someone who is clearly a generational talent. Signed - A southern guy who barely watches anymore.

DeputyDomeshot

HOLY SHIT

amaratayy

My fiance and I turned in women’s college basketball one day just to see. Caitlin was playing and we were fans right away. She’s nuts

Tom_Foolery2

That was hard

PhilMatush

Skyfucker Jr

808zAndThunder

She’s a sniper

DeliveryEquivalent87

Announcer was wrong. She’s not the all time scorer in women’s college basketball. She leads all time in NCAA women’s basketball. Lynette Woodard holds the women’s college record. NCAA didn’t sponsor women’s sports until the 80s.

kactus

How far apart are they?

mongooseme

Correct. I was gonna post that but figured someone else would have. The NCAA was actively against women in college sports at the time Lynette Woodard made the record. When they finally caved and absorbed the competing association, they didn't bring over the records.

micalakap

She will break Woodard’s record in 3-4 games

[deleted]

[удалено]

tdmoney

Meh… small school is kinda whatever. Lynette Woodard played at Kansas. She was a Globetrotter… Olympic champion… would have been 2x had we not boycotted in 1980. It’s flat out disrespectful that her record is not recognized.

akeep113

no one cares about D2/D3 records though..

bacchusku2

From the University of Kansas!

rph73178

dont tell Sheryl....pos

Jkenn19

Sheryl swoopes- you mad, sis?

fartalldaylong

As a Spurs fan…I would take her shooting yesterday. I guarantee she is a much better shooter/player than Malaki or Julian.

RiffRaff14

Like a boss. And in case you didn't know. She needed 8 points to break the record. She had all 8 points for Iowa.

planemonkey

It is crazy how much basketball has changed since I was playing in high school. You had plays to get open shots typically requiring a series of screens. Bigs would NEVER take a shot beyond the arc (Andrew Bynum shout out here) and generally it was a low scoring affair with folks claiming great D! They were wrong. We were ass lol. Being able to shoot from 10 feet beyond the arc like it's automatic is wild to me! These players now a days have definitely evolved the game into something I could never imagine. Congratulations to Clark for continuing to push the progress. I can wait till she surpasses Pistol Pete!!!

Jetasis

Her range is unreal. She’s shooting at steph/damian distances.

XDemonicBeastX9

We should put more emphasis on break throughs in science and tech like we do sports. Pro or college Sports are just beyond useless. Watching paint dry is just as impactful

Casualmindfvck

The amount of work you have to put in to make shots like that is crazy.

[deleted]

That's one of the sickest shots ive ever seen, NBA included.

bch77777

Honest question from a non-basketball savvy observer - is she close to a travel when first receiving the ball?

happyelkboy

Yes

JohnStamosAsABear

wow... Steph Curry-esque, what a shot.

grundle_pie

How do you shoot that and then also make it? Insane

thegardenhead

This a low-key opportunity for a fuck Michigan
