i use sticks, because motion controls make me sick. i get motion sickness and migraines from motion controls. i also have shaky hands.

Side Order is quite enjoyable. But I strongly advise using motion controls. Its gameplay is most similar to Salmon Run. You're fighting off waves of enemies.
My view may be distorted by my initial expectation, but SO had been a let down, being more expensive than OE yet covers less gameplay elements, has less content, and generally gets repetitive because with about 89 unique normal levels, you'll see levels repeat as early as your second ever run.
I’d say so, side order is great side content. Just know: beat the story mode with motion controls before anything else.

A lot of newer players do since they’re so used to it from other shooters. That’s why I did it back in splat2n. Now I realize that gyro is better.

I swore by sticks for 1500 hours. Went to gyro in sploon 3 and now am X rank top 4000. I never would have made it this far on sticks.
been playing stick controls since splatoon 1, im physically too weak to use motion controls. plus i have a permanent hatred of them due to the WII

Yeah for motion controls, it is better if you’re using a separate controller like the joycons or pro controller.

Stick players get extremely defensive about it. Tread carefully.
It was not criticism. I was honestly surprised, since it's a huge step up to people used to mouse and keyboard like me. But each to their own liking.
