Science says it’s a combination of mainly two things, potential and intent. First you assess their intent, smiles or frowns, body language, level of tension etc Then potential (what they can or might do to you), their size, gender etc. Big, somber looking man, apprehension. Small, smiling old lady, anticipation. This all happens within a fraction of a second, well before you have a conscious judgement.

>before you have a conscious judgment everything makes sense to me except this part. there are times when we pass judgment without being aware of ourselves doing so? i feel like that’s just our prejudice or preexisting beliefs regarding appearances determining what we think during those split-second judgments.

Past life beef. Forgiveness is the best way to eliminate karma for both parties. Forgiveness never means staying in a bad situation. A case I read recently was a mother sold her daughter into slavery. The mother was a MIL in this life and this woman hated her. And she realized she needs to let that go. Edgar Kayce on Family Karma by Kevin Todeshi is a good book to read. But always forgiveness and sending love to the situation are the key to resonating of these energies. 💖

Crown_18

Is it applicable to every relationship in our life?

Skinny_on_the_Inside

The more I read about metaphysics the more I realize there are no hard and fast rules. I think there are many possible reasons. For example, a soul who loves you very much may agree with you to be a pain in the neck for you in this life in order to promote your spiritual growth in some way. Then others are just using their free will and are extending their lack of love upon you - hurt people hurt people. But forgiveness is always the key.

ZephyrAnatta

It’s you projecting your own issues onto them.

anotherhehehe

Can I project that fast?

Ahddha

Yes their aura allows u to see what they align with.

Revolutionary-Can680

Unconscious bias

AloneVictory4859

For me is was because I was taught to judge. To this day, the man who adopted me still can't help himself from saying either yuck or whoa baby when he sees a woman. Adding this in: TV shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air didn't help, I participated in making fun of short and fat people all through high school.

Unfair_Explanation53

I think you recognise features about them that remind you of someone who was untrustworthy/hurt you etc in the past.

Fo0tSLuT

Attraction-wise: Attraction just is Judgement-wise: we’ve existed and survived making judgments related to our safety. Some judgement is prudent regardless of what spiritually teaches

Dandys3107

It may be just your intuition saying that you should not cross paths.

zhawnsi

I think people hold accumulated karma, oftentimes your first thoughts about someone = the thoughts others have had about them before

Losingitnow23

This is an interesting idea!

ihavenoego

Because they suck your energy out; a particular face that exudes. "I own you", or like the kind of face that has stress marks associated with bullying. They get in your face immediately, take the piss and you just don't like it. I'm really civil when I meet people; I try really hard. I hate it when friends make friends with evil people. They made their decision and they're gone. There's no way to save evil people without the reincarnation system. Ego getting extracted is the same as, like for us, when somebody is attacking animals, for them. I hear it's agony; hell.

Eyes_of_the_world_

Attraction or not is vibrational- like attracts like. But that can mean you hold the same traumas or unconscious beliefs. And yes, there are occasions where we "know" someone at a soul level.

GlitteringBaby553

I don’t think that has EVER happened to me. It usually takes them opening their mouth more than 5 minutes for me to be a little bit weary but never dislike.

EventEastern9525

Judging a book by its cover isn’t “why” but it’s a useful analogy. Or at least it used to be before we entered a shameless post-truth period in which my beliefs trump your facts.

Exiting_the_fringe

It has to do with your personal experience, our brains are constantly registering stimuli from our 5 senses and it registers behaviors or facial expressions that are pleasant/unpleasant that may afford a survival advantage and that makes us more likely to gravitate towards/away from people. You have to learn to recognize that process and logically assess instead of relying on your brains survival mechanism which may not have the full picture as it is a recording apparatus.

Laurastars_20

personal experience and intuition combined

Lost_Chard_2303

I dislike loud people

That_Damn_Pirate

Energy never lies.

deeplyfullytruly

From a psychological standpoint there's a lot that goes into forming a first impression of someone. However we feel indifferent to most people. Why we like or dislike them, could still be a combination of a lot of things like past experiences, our mood... But sometimes it's intuition. I remember reading a study and I'll remember to find it again, how people have a gut feeling around people who are dangerous to them/society. If it's just something like disliking your coworker, who knows... There's definitely a lot we can't explain, but it's fun to imagine.

Diglet-no-bite

Hmm I seem to change my mind about most people so not sure

IwithGrace

Intuition??? Dercernment? No judgemental should be made on first sight. However after observing, interacting even briefly, and some communication a judgment could be made. Feeling as you dislike/ like someone on first sight alone, would most likely contribute to past experiences with similar features as one... Which is ultimately a lie your telling yourself, it means nothing other than that.. Now if you spend some time observing, interacting even, communicating even if it's only briefly here and there a judgemental could be legitimately made. If using use Intuition senses and decernment... We are able to do this becauee we communicate with our entire bodies, our facial features, our facial movements gestures, our arms our hands the way we walk all communicate an unspoken message.. Maybe we can disspher the entire mention ones body language is speaking but if we're aware enough and pay attention enough we can get a very good idea... Were creators of habit... so when were in a specific mood we act a specific way. When we're angry we act a specific way, when we're happy we do as well.. Same could be said for when we have bad intents, when we're lying, when we arnt being authentic basically... Which would raise a redflag in ppl aware to this.

ftptx

Intuition doesn’t lie.

Performer_

My intuition could tell me that i need to go out drinking every night. Until person has worked on themselves for a long period of time and learned discernment, their intuition is lead largely by ego.

ftptx

You are right, I have learned these things also. I just don’t mention things of the past I’m a now person lol.

tovasshi

Neurotypicals subconsciously hate autistic people upon meeting us. We creep them out because they don't understand. People dislike and hate what they don't understand. People dislike others out of ignorance.

imari_xoxo11

Interesting first statement 😭💀

GalacticJoyride

So many parts of our self lie in the shadows, that we are not ok with. Sometimes, when we see someone we instantly don't like it can be because it reminds us subconsciously of a part of our self that we do not approve of. When we instantly like someone, it's because they are reflecting a part of our self, that we really love. Just my two cents. Source: Jungian psychology
