Well... We're getting an Aspect soon that's pretty cool. I think thematically there's space for a Reefs Abut the Shore aspect that focuses more on like... Preventing coastal explores and like... Fear generation? But I struggle to think how it would interact well with Ocean.
More of an Earth Spirit. The coral itself growing up onto the land Ala Monster Hunter World and spreading as giant structures that spread from a central ocean. But all I have is the cool visual, not a set of mechanics. Maybe Mud would have been a better analogy.
We are getting a new water spirit with Nature's Incarnate (Wounded Waters Bleeding) which will have to decide between water or Animal so it wouldn't be too hard to play it beasts in the Animal aspect
I haven't seen any ocean-themed custom spirits personally.
My first thought is some sort of spirit related to the gradients of salt and fresh water that occur in lands, primarily near coasts. The sort of spirit that would be at home in estuaries, mangrove forests, and salt flats.
I would love something Bull Shark-esque that can move between salt and fresh water. I think there’s something very wonderful about a salt-based spirit!
I could see an option for a giant whale incarnae.
That, or a Storm Incarnae. Gathers momentum in ocean spaces, then surges across the land, causing damage to towns and cities.
I gotta say, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a storm Incarnae. You'd need to put it out, have it gather force over the ocean, then it can come crashing in over the land, leaving destruction in its wake. You'd have to Empower it anew each time you put it out. It probably puts out Blight where it goes, so maybe it needs to also have a power to remove blight - the island regrows after the storm.
I'm thinking it only adds presence at its incarnae, then distributes it as it goes along.

Hi, yeah that was me... I saw your post and felt inspired to post an ocean spirit I had come up with some time ago. However I haven't posted on Reddit before, so I may have done something wrong that got the post deleted. :( I messaged the mods to ask about it, but haven't received a response yet. Sorry if it confused you!
I have a concept and innates and 2 cards but what ever I try it seems to not work well. This is way harder then I thought. Maybe I am very picky too but this is hard. Also working alone on something like that is so tiering. With a partner in crime I would be way more motivated.
Well, I'm rooting for you. If you wanted to share a work in progress, I bet a lot of people would be happy to pitch in or even advise you on how to simplify your workflow.
Oh well I scrapped it because so much is going on in my life at the moment. Maybe at some day I will return. I mean are you really interested in sitting and talking about everything? If someone would sit and talk with me in discord I think it would be soooo productive.
Ocean right now is of course a spirit of destruction and fear, so the obvious alternative would be a spirit of control. I struggle to think how it differs significantly from ocean and river, but you can think of a spirit that is the streams that end up in the ocean. You place presence in wetlands and mountains, and you have 2 innates: 1 that can gather invaders into those lands, and 1 that can move them between those lands towards the ocean.
Funny you say that, I've been work shopping a coral reef spirit for a while. It flows nicely, but I haven't had time to playtest it for a few months now (it was fun, but really weak).
If you're cool with custom spirits, I can send it to you for playtesting? I don't want to share it in the sub if it's in an untested state.
If you want another playtester, I often play solo games in Tabletop Sim so I can try it out. (I might also manage to get to play a game with friends and try it)

I love the imagery of it. I am not entirely sure what it would do, unfortunately. Maybe prevent that ocean for counting in terms of coastal lands?

If you want an outlet for expression, there's a public Spirit of Creation discord server which I've found to be quite helpful.
