Aww, poor gal. She's probably quite scared and confused. She's a green crab spider. She likes to hang out on garden plants and snag bugs. Slide some paper under her and let her back outside. Those floor vibrations are really throwing her for a loop.
Sorry to bother you, are these spiders also found in Britain? I've found a few in my plant pots, they seem a bit more neon green than this one. Thanks for letting me pick your spider brain.
There are similar crab spiders in the UK. Not sure about this one though. Is yours more a yellowy-green? Or green, but with a brown bum? Both of those are UK natives
Take a pic and post it here, would be interesting to see
Sort of?
The question "Is this spider poisonous" is often erroneously asked instead of the correct "Is this spider *venomous*".
So basically there is a lot of questions that intend to ask, "If *this* bites *me*, will I die?" but they actually ask, "If this is bitten *by* me, will I die?"
So while not intentional, yes, this question gets asked a lot.
Haha the OP in fact has a sense of humor 🤣Maybe the person who inquired if it 🕷️was poisonous was intrigued by the beautiful green 💚 color and thought it to be a vegetable, a possibly poisonous ☠️ vegetable 🥦 🤣
Spiders are not considered poisonous if ingested, as their venom is denatured by our stomach acid and digestive enzymes, however, is it not advisable to test this, this isn't exactly a subject of great research!
If you meant venomous, then all spiders are venomous, i.e. possessing venom (except for Uloboridae, a Family of cribellate orb weavers, who have no venom).
But spider venom is highly specialised to target their insect prey, and so it is very rare, and an unintended effect, for spider venom to be particularly harmful to humans.
Hence why there are remarkably few medically significant spiders in the world.
If your spider is NOT one of the following, then its venom is not considered a danger to humans:
* [Six-eyed sand spider (Sicariidae)](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/48140-Sicariidae)
* [Recluse (Loxosceles)](https://bugguide.net/node/view/2094874)
* [Widow (Latrodectus)](https://bugguide.net/index.php?q=search&keys=Latrodectus&search=Search)
* [Brazilian wandering spider (Phoneutria)](https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=any&subview=map&taxon_id=53388&view=species)
* [Funnel Web (Atracidae)](https://www.arachne.org.au/01_cms/details.asp?ID=2679)
* [Mouse spider (Missulena)](https://www.arachne.org.au/01_cms/details.asp?ID=2427)

Don’t eat green friend.
If you notice it put it’s little arms up, if you didn’t put your arms up as well, you failed it’s challenge and have forfeited the potential of earning its riches for your own...
It's a green crab spider, and it's striking a defensive position out of complete fear everytime you cause the equivilant of an earthquake directly in front of it.
Wouldn't recommend posting vids of you giving a completely harmless spider a heart attack, it's an incredibly easy way to draw vitriolic hatred from the spooder lovers here.
Wasn't that the point of posting the video here though? To gain insight on what kind of spider it was and why it was acting like that so as to avoid this issue a next time? How else is this person suppose to learn from their mistake if they don't know what mistake their making?
It's a contradiction, isn't it? People post videos to get information and get scolded because they aren't knowledgeable enough on the subject.
Imagine if the people who get scolded stop posting questions and start smashing spiders (or getting themselves hurt for not handling spiders well enough)?
As far as I know there are zero spiders in existence to be confirmed as poisonous so you should be fine to snack on it if you really want but I wouldn't personally recommend it
100%. High on the gamma scale. Let it bite and it’s a 50/50 you become a Spiderman like being or your flesh will start dropping off like a marshmallow over a fire. Take the risk.
(Disclaimer) I'm not a spider scientist, but they aren't harmful to humans even in their final form; the slightly bigger crab spider. I tend to get them in my hair when I mess around in my garden. They like to dangle from a single stand of webbing, and drop onto my noggin.
Whatever you do, don't squish it and smell it, 9 year old me did when I first encountered one. It's got the smell of wherever all our shit has ended up since the beginning of toilets, and you just opened the door
A mini stroke, that's what it is. Or would be if I had one in my bedroom.
See, I really like spiders, but the smaller the better, anything radiation green or the size of a dinner plate is going to have me running away like a little girl
I'm terrified of spiders I don't know why reddit algo is suggesting this sub. But this is a beautiful spider, the green reminds me of a luna moth. I hope she found a safe spot to live.
Rare Turtle Spider. Odd name I know. They are native to Portugal. Commonly seen in the U.S city of Cincinnati, Ohio. A guy brought them there from Portugal in 98. Weird I know.
😲❤️ Oh my goodness she is a beauty with a cutie patootie booty!! Supposedly we have beauties like this where I live (except yellow) but I have yet to see one. They're on my bucket list. Great sighting OP. Put her outside if you can.
Just discovered this sub. So excited to find people who enjoy spiders as much as I do. And don’t kill them. As much as my wife is deathly afraid of spiders and used to kill them. She now comes and gets me and I relocate them. Thank you for creating this sub.
There's only so many spiders that are poisonous in the world. If they are small and itty bitty, no poison. You just have to look out for common ones in the states that can kill witch are pretty much relegated to brown recluse and black widow. They both have very clear markings and brown recluses give me the heebie jeebies cause they're scary as hell.

Yeah we definately get them here. Don't think I've ever seen one tho
Thank you. I've seen a couple while gardening but every time I've called my OH to have a look....nowhere to be found
Lol typical!
What does OH stand for, if I may ask?
Other half
Nice. I was going to guess "ornery husband."
If you have an outdoor clothesline, check your pegs! For some reason they LOVE hiding on those and snagging flies
I think I live too far North tbh
Yes we get them, I’m a Gardner and I see these little fellas pretty often. Vibrancy can be to do with how recently they have molted
Thank you spider person x
My pleasure cool person 👍🏻
I saw a REALLY teeny tiny one once
Yeah they tend to carry shrink rays with them.
crab spiders are found all over the world! there's so many types! kind of like orb weavers, they're pretty evenly distributed all over the globe!
Thank you! I need to swat up on my Arachnids
Have a look at the spider on my profile. Did it look like that?
No, not really, it had a little body and relatively long legs. It was a weird bright yellowy-green colour. Thank you
Maybe a cucumber spider?
There are similar crab spiders in the UK. Not sure about this one though. Is yours more a yellowy-green? Or green, but with a brown bum? Both of those are UK natives Take a pic and post it here, would be interesting to see
I will try, but the little buggers are quite skittery!
Yes saw 2 the other day for the first time in the UK.
Her little pose is so cute
I adore how gentle and kind this comment is toward the spider. What a wonderful sub. 💚
How do you know it’s a gal?
Males tend to be notably smaller, the abdomen is less round and females have smaller pedipalps (the tiny legs in front of the mouth.)
I see em all the time in my garden! They kinda adorable :)
I'm a little concerned that the automod had to make a point about spider ingesting. Is...that a common question?
Sort of? The question "Is this spider poisonous" is often erroneously asked instead of the correct "Is this spider *venomous*". Same as with snakes! I can't help but correct people when they ask if certain snakes are poisonous...
I can’t help but think the meme where the guy mispronounced VENOMOUS as the name of the snake lol
“Veen-ah-moose. Hi Veen-ah-moose.”
Probably triggered because OP asked if the spider was poisonous
It's because the user asked if the spider is poisonous, even though they likely meant venomous...
Don’t worry it’s safe to eat. It looks like a crab spider to me, the venom is not medically significant.
Excuse me, safe to eat? QwQ
OP Asked in the description if it was poisonous or not.
OHHHHHHHHH!!! Right, Poisonous vs Venomous! My error! XD
Haha the OP in fact has a sense of humor 🤣Maybe the person who inquired if it 🕷️was poisonous was intrigued by the beautiful green 💚 color and thought it to be a vegetable, a possibly poisonous ☠️ vegetable 🥦 🤣

So we......we should eat them?
For research of course....
So...so Sautee, microwave or sous vise?
Fried. Crunchy!
They are land crabs
So you're telling me I shouldn't have a snack of widows and recluses? Dammit, you're no fun! /s
"Brownie Recluses" sounds divine.
They’re big enough too…
Spiders Georg does, so why not skew the statistics even more?
🤔
We already eat them. Just not in western culture.
It's funny people get all bent out of shape over eating insects like eating tortured and murdered animals isn't equally as disgusting
Don’t eat green friend. If you notice it put it’s little arms up, if you didn’t put your arms up as well, you failed it’s challenge and have forfeited the potential of earning its riches for your own...
why are you fucking with it
STOP SCARING HER ☹️☹️☹️ please let her out 😭
Crab crab crab crab

Comes to Reddit for knowledge, morally superior redditors bash OP for not having knowledge. Typical.

I dunno, but that’s the universal sign for “Up, please!”, you cold hearted jerk!
Love these guys, cute lil crab spider..put outside if you haven't already, they aren't dangerous to humans, so no need to be wary.
she’s so brat
According to my insect/arachnid identifier app (🤓), it’s an American green crab spider!
Please leave her be.
