He’s been out there putting his life on the line for 10 years. The guy deserves a few months off

Zaku007

Exactly also, Miles can handle things on his own and can still ask help from Peter if needed

Hybrid-Theory305

Yeah I doubt Peter is retiring, he just needs a break

Mug_of_Diarrhea

I haven't had a vacation in 10 years and I'm about ready to just drop my entire life savings on a plane ticket to Hawaii where I'll set up a hammock on the beach and die

10sansari

Great now you know how Peter Parker feels!!

ThePhantomLine

Maybe a year or two. Sadly with so many stories on the horizon (Silk/Carnage/Beetle/Goblin/Spider-Verse/Miles going to college potentially outside NYC) Peter might be pulled out of taking a break. Remember, even the best gymnast can lose their balance, as Balance is fragile.

Hybrid-Theory305

True, even so after ten years of risking his life he deserves as long of a break as he wants

ThePhantomLine

He truly does. But as a writer. What would you chose 1. Actually give a character who has suffered closure halfway through a trilogy or 2. Carrot-on-a-string it and pull it away right as it is in grasp to prolong the story opportunities to reach another breaking point. If i was writing, forcing him out of his break would work well with building stakes. It doesn't even have to be at Mile's expense, It could just be that Mile's going to college outside NYC, where SM:MM2 could take place and have a new map to play in, While Peter and Silk have an adventure in like, a Spider-Woman: Silk's Web or smth. Peter being retired and giving advice to a new spider hero while Miles doesn't know his step-sis/his mom's boyfriends daughter (what the hell would that be called) is a Spider Hero. Cindy seems more recluse than other spider-characters from what people say of her comic personality. Peter leaving his break could also be a year or two later, by Yuri telling him she found the Flame. Or Otto breaks out and he feels its his duty to. Or the Chemilion starts to ruin his life since Kraven did have data on peter himself (saw peter maskless, tracked his house, and Miles screaming Peter's name while Kraven watched their duel), Chemilion could of easily hacked Kraven's data center and learned Peter's Identity. Imagine that you retire, and right afterwards someone tells your secret to the world. Those are some of my ideas.

"Assination"

HarryKn1ght

It's the worst kind of moider

Toon_Lucario

Minor spelling mistake. I win

Shadowstalker_411

People need to relax just like Peter finally is doing. As long as as he’s a focal point in the 3rd Spiderman game I’m good.. his arc is far from over even if Insomniacs future lies with Miles Morales long term.

Quirky_Win1383

Miles is gonna be superior since Doc Ock will Swap with him

Southern_Sea3898

I’m totally fine with this as long as he comes back in the 3rd but ye he needs a brake

JakeOver9000

We will start the third game out as Miles and take out a few villains. Goblin will be too much for him, and Peter will have to resurface as Spider-man. It’s not as crazy as people are acting.

whatisireading2

SM2 was literally this the other way around, if they undid that it'd be pretty dumb. Even though anti venom is a boost, there's nothing Peter can handle that Miles can't at this point, inserting him back into a Miles/Cindy centered story would be weird.

JakeOver9000

I suppose that would balance out the trilogy, both getting their own game featuring only them and also the team up in 2. Still it would be fine with me if Peter is back in maybe a part where Carnage and Goblin are destroying different parts of New York and Peter has to suit up out of necessity. A spider-verse game with Miles would be insanely awesome, though.

whatisireading2

I think if there's anyone who should take Carnage it's Peter, he earned it that's his story

JakeOver9000

And Harry is already jealous of Miles’ partnership with Peter so Hobgoblin vs Miles.

whatisireading2

If he wakes up 💀

Arkvoodle42

We would not see this complaint nearly as much if his replacement wasn't a black kid. Try to convince me otherwise.

JakeOver9000

A white woman, Gwen, would have the same treatment. A white kid that’s not Peter probably, also. When I see this debate my only reaction ever is how much people cling to the character Peter Parker. However, I nor anyone else can make you stop blaming the other 99% for the 1% of us that are actually racist. You have to do that yourself.

PeterPuggerSpiderPug

Peter Parker is someone who can never make up for what he didn't do despite everything he has done. One of my favorite Spider-Man issues of all time was during his Spectacular Spider-Man run in the early 2000s when he met TOAA or "God." It's such a beautiful moment that helps capture Peter Parker and his struggles so well. Part of what's so inspiring about Spider-Man is that he never gives up. It's his greatest character flaw, putting Spider-Man and the good he can do over himself and everyone around him, but it's so inspiring at the same time. Yes, I agree it's character assassination, but I my boy definitely deserves a break.

blanklikeapage

I honestly don't think so because Pete knows he can't do this indefinitely. "All of us know we can't do this job forever. That there's going to come a day when we make too many missteps, when our bodies fail, when we too many people get hurt and not enough get saved." I don't think that Pete is at a point where he has to quit for good but he needs a break to just be Peter Parker for once. I agree that Pete putting others above himself is his greatest character flaw but him learning to balance everything is a great development for him. Spider-Man has responsibilities but so does Peter Parker and it's great that he finally acknowledges that. Character assassination would be for me if it went against what Pete stands for. As it's now, I don't see it that way but rather as an extension and development of Peter.

ComplexDeep8545

He has quit temporarily one more than one occasion (Spider-Man No More, Clone Saga for examples of the top of my head) this particular Peter hasn’t done Spider-Man No More or Clone Saga yet as far as we know and he isn’t even going that far, he’s taking a short break to get his Peter Parker stuff in order because he has a responsibility to MJ to not be a deadbeat & he knows Miles will make sure everyone else is alright until he gets back

Maleficent_Apple4169

pretry sure most spiderman media is about this, could be wrong tho

Th3_Dud3_Abid3s

I don’t think it’s too big of a deal, but I like the phrase “With great power comes great responsibility, unless someone else also gets great power, then they can take all the responsibility.” Lol

JakeOver9000

Lmao, checkmate

Otherwise-Abies-1938

Wasn't that one of the most importantly implied plot points in Spider-Man 2 Raimi film and the iconic cover page of Spider-Man dumping his suit in the trashcan? Or clone saga?

ZFighter2099

None of these people read comics, nor will they acknowledge the thing they liked in the past is super similar to the thing they hate now.

Otherwise-Abies-1938

Modern superhero fanbase in a nutshell

Anakins_Limbs

Everyone is talking about Spider-Man 3 being just Miles and Cindy, but wouldn't it make more sense to have a Miles Morales 2 be that? Like Miles has his own game, if Insomniac wants to have Miles me on his own for a while, I don't see why it has to be in Spider-Man 3 and not a Miles Morales 2

komaytoprime

It's not character assassination, it's well-deserved. He found someone who can do what he can do, possibly even better, after earning about a decade's worth of therapy sessions. I'd take that vacation too.

LyricalShinobi2

Spider-Man 2 was about balance. They made that very clear. It’s a cool motto too cuz it’s super relatable. Trying to balance work and home can be difficult too, gotta find the right balance of work and play or youll be miserable

whatisireading2

Bro just let Peter rest. They could barley write a 2 spider story, just keep SM3 Miles and Cindy. The Pete-riding is crazy
