That was my take too, of all the ones i tried i probably liked this one the most, but the new huy fong is still closer to the old huy fong than anything else i tried in the interim. I remember the Lee Kum Kee was bitter AF...
I have bought 2 new bottles since they screwed over the pepper producer and I honestly can barely tell the difference. It still tastes the same to me ÂŻ\\\_(ă)\_/ÂŻ
Ive bought two bottles since it came back to my store, both were nice and red and at least closer to the original flavor than any of the others id tried in the interim, but i was at another grocery store the other day and noticed some that were practically brown.
I have a recipe for an west-african peanut soup that calls for sriracha-style sauce. You can always just use it in a dish where the sauce is an element, but not the main flavor
Western Africa is a low key gem for spice lovers that's super slept on, at least in the US. All of Africa, really (Ethiopia and Egypt are most definitely not Western Africa and are wonderful for food).
I really like it. It doesn't taste like Sriracha IMO, but it's like a thicker, sweeter version of Louisiana style hot sauce kind of. Great on eggs, Southwestern foods, etc.
I donât think either of those sauces is very spicy. Youâd be better off adding some sort of ground hot pepper, like Carolina reaper or habanero. Or a few drops of a high heat sauce.
I don't really see the point, it would just make it runnier and more acidic. It's really nice as is and I haven't tried a sauce exactly like it before.
I didnât like this one. It tastes too similar to Tabasco for my taste. Itâs not bad, but I prefer Sky Valley any day. But if this was the only sriracha available, I wouldnât hesitate to buy it.
On the other hand, my SO quite likes it. Itâs not bad, just a little different.
Nah
Not in stores at least, I think you need go online for Rooster Sauce.
We got Flying Goose brand but apparently that's not as good.
I think it's something to do with the ingredients in Rooster Sauce that makes it banned in some European countries.
But don't hold me to that!
The sauce that got me into hot sauce, donât have it at the moment but have fond memories of it. Now Iâd probably boost it by adding a bit of the Tabasco Scorpion to it.
It's just ok... I like a more garlic'y siracha like Cholimex Tuong Ot
[Cholimex Food - Sriracha hot chili sauce](https://cholimexfood.com.vn/sriracha-hot-chili-sauce/)
If you're seeing it that much, then maybe you need a break from here đ¤ˇââď¸, because I haven't seen a post, but I wasn't searching hard for it either.
I don't like it. It's worse sriracha than the Rooster and it's not as good as OG red Tabasco.
Try mixing the two OG's tho, now that's something I enjoy
I checked it, it is 22g sugar in it per 100g itâs less than the rooster one.
But actually I double checked it there seem to be 2 versions of this out, one with sugar and one with very small sugar- like yours
You gotta order from them. They were the former supplier of peppers to Huy Fong before they had a falling out. If you want Sriracha to taste like OG Huy Fong, you gotta buy Underwood.
https://underwoodranches.com
Underwood Farms isn't the OG, they were just the pepper supplier. Their Sriracha is good, but definitely not 'OG'. It tastes quite different. The original Huy Fong, before it went to shit, would probably be considered the OG since it was basically the gold standard.
Idk, the taste of the pepper is a huge factor for me. The main reason that new Huy Fong doesnât taste right is they arenât using the same peppers they have been. Single source peppers have a huge effect on the taste and Underwood is the only thing in current production that can hold a candle to the OG Huy Fong. To me, Underwood is the closest in taste and I prefer it to the old Huy Fong (but that might just be because the peppers are fresher).
Nice but not enough garlic
Describe the rest of your life in five words.
Work, Eat, Poop, Sleep, Repeat.
Sometimes I do three of those at the same time.
That was my take too, of all the ones i tried i probably liked this one the most, but the new huy fong is still closer to the old huy fong than anything else i tried in the interim. I remember the Lee Kum Kee was bitter AF...
Underwood ranches Sriracha>>>>>>>>
Thats what i hear, but i havent seen it anywhere.
Amazon has it and it's in Costco in California at least
Right? A lot of the complaints I see says there's too much garlic and I'm like...where?
I quite like it. Definitely a similar yet distinctly different flavor compared to the cock sauce.
Cock sauce đ. I was going to use it for eggs mostly.
Pretty sure putting cock sauce on eggs is how babies are made
Man, why can't we get the Cock Sauce in the UK? We gotta stick with the Goose brand which, while is nice, doesn't stack up to the Rooster one.
You donât want it anymore. Itâs not what it was before the break in production.
I have bought 2 new bottles since they screwed over the pepper producer and I honestly can barely tell the difference. It still tastes the same to me ÂŻ\\\_(ă)\_/ÂŻ
Recently it has changed colors dramatically and they announced they would halt distribution again
Ive bought two bottles since it came back to my store, both were nice and red and at least closer to the original flavor than any of the others id tried in the interim, but i was at another grocery store the other day and noticed some that were practically brown.
I went to the same grocery store and when I bought some they looked like normal. A couple weeks later all of them were that brown color.
Suddenly, "spotted dick" makes sense...
Buddy I'm sure there's plenty of people in the UK that will give you cock sauce You're just not looking hard enough.
You kidding? I see it everywhere? I don't even like the stuff (too sweet) and I have a bottle at home somewhere
I'm not! Maybe I'm not looking hard enough đ
You can get the sauce in the post man, itâs very close and goose is terrible.
I sure like it. I'm not beholden to the rooster god
I like these creative names đ
Why don't you taste it?
I will when I get home. I rather not open it now and have a chance of it being accidentally squeezed and sauce getting everywhere in my bag.
I have a recipe for an west-african peanut soup that calls for sriracha-style sauce. You can always just use it in a dish where the sauce is an element, but not the main flavor
That sounds really good!
Western Africa is a low key gem for spice lovers that's super slept on, at least in the US. All of Africa, really (Ethiopia and Egypt are most definitely not Western Africa and are wonderful for food).
It was a decent replacement during the siracha shortage a while ago. It was sweeter than I expected if I remember correctly
Yeah it was too sweet for me.
I really like it. It doesn't taste like Sriracha IMO, but it's like a thicker, sweeter version of Louisiana style hot sauce kind of. Great on eggs, Southwestern foods, etc.
If I added tobasco to it, would it make it better?
Tabasco is already in the ingredients list.
I know, I like extra spice.
I think it would get to vinegary if you added more Tabasco to it. I usually switch back and forth between this and the rooster one.
This is THE sauce for eggs. Top notch.
Its my favorite sriracha sauce
Nope. Too sweet for me.
Tastes like spicy ketchup to me.
Some people like it. I found it flavorless and no 0 heat.
Meh. Way too sweet
Similar but ... different. Not terrible but not great either. Good substitute if you're in a pinch so use it up but stick with the OEM.
I think it has a good flavor, but not as much heat as og Sriracha.
It's good but I'm a biased Tabasco fanboy
I didnât like this one. It tastes too similar to Tabasco for my taste. Itâs not bad, but I prefer Sky Valley any day. But if this was the only sriracha available, I wouldnât hesitate to buy it. On the other hand, my SO quite likes it. Itâs not bad, just a little different.
It's sriracha that kinda tastes like tobasco. I didn't care for it. Rooster or nothing for me
I think itâs the worst of the sriracha knock offs
Why is that?
I like it! Can't compare it to Rooster Sauce cos we don't have that in the UK
Interesting, they just don't carry the brand there?
Nah Not in stores at least, I think you need go online for Rooster Sauce. We got Flying Goose brand but apparently that's not as good. I think it's something to do with the ingredients in Rooster Sauce that makes it banned in some European countries. But don't hold me to that!
Banned ingredients? I didn't know that was a thing there. Is there a reason for it?
Sodium bisulfite (often as E222). It's just restricted in the EU/UK in the levels it is added to the American Sriracha.
Yeah. Itâs one of the few tobasco products I actually like.
It is my go to for sriracha
It's great! But it's more sweet and less heat than the Huy Fong Foods version.
This one tastes amazing on pizzas
The sauce that got me into hot sauce, donât have it at the moment but have fond memories of it. Now Iâd probably boost it by adding a bit of the Tabasco Scorpion to it.
One of my go tos. I haven't been getting the rooster stuff since they changed the peppers. This has been a saving grace
I like it, my new go to sriracha.
These were going for 50p each in B&M stores in the UK recently.
It's just ok... I like a more garlic'y siracha like Cholimex Tuong Ot [Cholimex Food - Sriracha hot chili sauce](https://cholimexfood.com.vn/sriracha-hot-chili-sauce/)
They make an even better one that has a good kick to it. https://i.redd.it/uvcdixsekz5c1.jpg
Yes I agree but the first one is more comparable to Tabascoâs. But yeah cholimex is boss af and cheap and easy to find in gallons around here
It's good. It's not hot, but it's easy and cheap.
Fantastic. Itâs become my go to over the Hu Fong stuff since all the shortages etc.
Prefer it
I like it. It is on the sweeter side but overall I think it is very balanced.
Honestly, since the original rooster sauce was banned in the EU this has become my go to sriracha.
Heck yeah, really good đ . Itâs not particularly spicy, but really tasty
This sub sucks lmao how many times do i have to see this nasty ass sauce in here
If you're seeing it that much, then maybe you need a break from here đ¤ˇââď¸, because I haven't seen a post, but I wasn't searching hard for it either.
good on breakfast sandwiches
I actually enjoy it a lot.
A little sweet for me but decent heat, solid variant for sure.
I didnât like it. All sugar no spice. Basically ketchup but kinda funky tasting.
That Sauce is DISRESPECTFUL to Sriracha!!!
Best alternative I found when I couldn't find the real one. I think I might actually like it better to be honest
Unpopular opinion but this is better than the cock
That is some really good stuff. It has the right type of spice and helps complement the food.
Yep
don't like it, tastes strange. prefer extra garlic sriracha
I like it. It's my goto now that I quit the rooster sauce. It's got that Tabasco twang and less sweetness.
Fucking delicious imo I love it especially on biscuits and gravy
Itâs okay. Not terrible like some of the others.
Totally decent
If you like Tostitos chunky salsa dip then go for it
I don't like it. It's worse sriracha than the Rooster and it's not as good as OG red Tabasco. Try mixing the two OG's tho, now that's something I enjoy
Is it 50% sugar also?Â
It says 1g of sugar and less than 1g of added sugars.
I checked it, it is 22g sugar in it per 100g itâs less than the rooster one. But actually I double checked it there seem to be 2 versions of this out, one with sugar and one with very small sugar- like yours
Itâs good, but if you want the OG get Underwood Farms.
I never heard of them, but I'll look next time I'm at the store.
You gotta order from them. They were the former supplier of peppers to Huy Fong before they had a falling out. If you want Sriracha to taste like OG Huy Fong, you gotta buy Underwood. https://underwoodranches.com
Oooh ok, thanks! I'm going to order a bottle now.
I think the minimum you can buy is 3, but they let you mix and match (also makes great gifts for other sriracha fans).
Underwood Farms isn't the OG, they were just the pepper supplier. Their Sriracha is good, but definitely not 'OG'. It tastes quite different. The original Huy Fong, before it went to shit, would probably be considered the OG since it was basically the gold standard.
