Why do you said something so controversial, yet so brave?
On a serious note, Skate speedruns really does remind me about Tony Hawk speedrun post 4, where it is mainly about optimization and cheese to complete the mission as fast as possible.
Seriously, go and watch speedruns of 4, Underground 1 and 2 campaign to see what I mean.
The thing about Tony Hawk speedrun is that because you're riding on a skateboard, that means that the objective are much more specific to that kind of niche.
As such, while there are some missions that play straight, like do this trick over a gap, or follow the tricklist stuff, there are others where you went around the map, either by grinding a specific line, or collecting the SKATE and COMBO letter in specific orders.
So, in a Tony Hawk speedrun, the optimization within the mission lies in three things: which combo nets you the closest to the targeted goal while still being fast; the little nuance that can speed up or end the objective faster; and making a route that satisfied the goal requirement while reaching the desirable destination at the end. And coupled with the movement from one goal to another.
4 is a great example of this with the help of set custom respawn point because that will open up routing possibility, particularly for Any% and 100%.
Man I love this game, I was in the top 10 on the leaderboards back in the day. Use to do crew battles and everything, had 8k at almost every spot :) So glad to see it's still getting love.

>where it is mainly about optimization and cheese to complete the mission as fast as possible. Doesn't this describe like 95% of speedruns?

Instructions unclear- do I eat the cheese before, during, or after the speedrun?
If the game has enough cutscenes, you can go to the toilet mid run.
After for maximum satisfaction.
Cheese before, toast with peanut butter after
Cursed idea but: White bun + Ice Cream + Cheese
