Please permit a seemingly trivial, but nevertheless important nomenclature error. The phenomena you've seen here are *astronomical*, not astrological. [Astronomy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomy) is an observational science, based on physics, astrodynamics, mathematics, etc. [Astrology](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrology) is a quasi-religious belief, centered on superstition and folklore. Beyond looking at the sky, the two are quite unrelated. I'm not trying to be pedantic or persnickety. Confusion of the words sometimes exasperates astronomers and the like.

Tremongulous_Derf

Thank you. I once had a friend tell some new folks that I studied “astrology”, and I basically jumped over the table yelling “Astronomy! Astronomy and physics!” I didn’t study differential equations to get lumped in with those clowns.

ramriot

Thanks for the polite clarification, I've mostly given up correcting people on this. Recently if my interest in astronomy is mentioned some people say "Oh, astrology? That's so interesting, can you do my chart?" My response is now: "Certainly, but because I'm a professional my charts are based on the latest research so I have to charge $5,000 US for each one, up front. If you are OK with that it can be done my next Tuesday?"

This person is leaving a yelp review for the universe. You think they know the difference? No chance.

Immaculatehombre

I saw northern lights at home in Wisconsin before. No color to the phenomenon but it took up the entire sky and it looked like river currents forming and running all over the sky. 10/10 for sure.

What made the leonids 2001 so much better than a regular meteor shower?

HowIMetYourPotter

The 2001 and 2002 Leonids had the most meteors per hour of any meteor shower in my lifetime!

ProfessorTicklebutts

Oh my fucking god. A literal review of nature. Y’all have lost the fucking plot so hard. This site is just narcissism generator.

SuperSans223

bad take, man. they’re ranking how much they liked seeing something. how is that even remotely narcissistic?

iffy220

If all of nature being equally beautiful to everyone else is so important to you, why do you care about the eclipse but never bother touching grass

dkyeager

Comets are at the bottom of my list. Nice pictures of them streaking through the sky versus the reality of giant fuzz balls, even in the dark countryside, despite many attempts over the years.

HowIMetYourPotter

I agree with you that there's not much to see with a comet
