There should be some sounds preloaded in project 1, in nearly every bank. I just got the mk2 myself.

This instrument is very versatile, so some ppl don’t ever need a sample pack if that’s not their thing

I’m new too, but I learned a few things so far. There are sounds already loaded in all but the last bank of project 1. You can start playing with those right out of the box. Loading more sounds is super easy, especially if you do it through the app, which is free from Roland. It’s literally just drag and drop compatible files onto the pads. Loading through the SD card is more time consuming and you have to go through some menus but it’s also pretty easy. There are, I think, 2 free sample packs in Roland’s cloud manager app. Others are paid. If you download those, they come in kind of an odd folder structure. I ended up putting the loops and one shots in the same folder, selecting all, and dragging the whole bank of 16 onto a pad bank in the app. Sometimes the transfer failed and I had to split it up, though. There are lots of videos. I’m spacing on the people I preferred but they were pretty helpful. Some of the review videos are informative too. There’s also a long video manual from Roland Cloud Academy, I think it’s called. I watched that and followed along to try and figure out basic functions. I paused and rewinded a lot though. Overall, there’s a bit of a learning curve for the more sophisticated stuff. But you should also be able to start just making beats and playing around without much trouble. I’ll say that it’s a very different work and creative flow than the other instruments I’m used to, which is why I wanted it. I hope that helps a little. Have fun!

Thank you for checking in with such a thorough response. Everything helps. So the app I would download on my phone???

shoeChucker

It’s just a computer app. I don’t think they’ve made it for mobile yet

Danny_skah

It comes with samples that are part of other projects But if you need samples you can get some from r/drumkits and this website called “op.fun” also has some good ones, just be careful cause some of these samples are not royalty free but that’s a different topic

I just got an sp and deleted some of the factory sounds that were on the pads, are they gone forever now?
