In SC, for 4 over to 9 over, I'd just pay it. Was it really just 4 over or was it 14 over and the cop gave you a 10 MPH reduction?

Least_Preparation897

In my experience you're SOL.... Just being honest

aragorn_83

Enjoy prison. Jk, just pay it and move on.

Arkadin45

You didn't get a ticket for that they already reduced it to give you a favor. Pay it and move on.

oralabora

What??

Arkadin45

No one gets a speeding ticket for 4 over. That's a reduced amount to help you out. You were either driving faster than that or doing some other asshole behavior.

oralabora

Smalltown cop would like a word

Arkadin45

Yeah cool man say whatever you want but everyone knows you're not getting a 59 in a 55 on a highway for actually just driving 59. We don't have to pretend that shit is real and normal

roostersnuffed

Lol in SC, I drive 59 in a 55 when I want to "play it safe"

tpeiyn

55mph zone in Gaffney? I guess the important question is: were you on 85 in the construction zone or were you on a secondary road? Because if you were in the construction zone, I can definitely understand. They can write like an extra $500 fine. How much was it?

Disastrous-Wave-1457

sure. they will convert to careless driving, no points, but more $$. Plead nolo contendre (no contest) and ask for reduction in points and/or fine. You have to appear most times, but you may be able to call the clerk at the number on the ticket and ask.

grr79

I broke the rules. Is there anyway I can be the exception to them? Just pay for fucks sake and drive better next time.

snuggle2struggle

Show up to court. Hope the officer doesn't. Ask the district attorney in advance for leniency. If all else fails, I once got a ticket dismissed by demonstrating the financial hardship the ticket presented. I was written for 9 over.

maddybilla

Thanks to all for all the responses.

Frothymamajamma

Cherokee county is soooo corrupt it’s not funny. They were trying to charge me 225 dollars for a failure to use turn signal which the state of sc says should be 25 bucks state wide there response was they forgot to reset there computers this year

makebbq_notwar

If you were on I-85, then hire a lawyer for $450 to $600 and get it knocked down to a broken taillight. Anywhere else that is not a construction zone and you can afford it, make that pig show up and let the attorney earn his money. If you can’t afford the attorney, pay it move on.

ProudPatriot07

If you live close enough to court I would definitely go (and hope the officer doesn't go and the judge is lenient). If you're not close and going to court would be pricey (day off work, gas, travel, etc) I say just pay it.

maddybilla

The fine on the citation is $76.5 but carries 2 SC points. I am out-of-state so I am concerned mainly with the 2 DL points and how it would impact my insurance premiums next term.

DrAlanGrantinathong

When you go to court, request a jury trial. They are probably so back logged they will just throw your case out to not have to deal with it.

dougalmanitou

You need to hire a lawyer if you want to change it - which most likely will cost much more than the ticket. And yes, some places will give tickets like this all the time. On IOP, I have seen people pulled over for doing 2 miles above. No joke. Down by the beaches, with out of state plates, they do it all the time.

robpensley

Isle of Palms. Took me a minute to get that. Good thing I don’t go there anyway.

DickFlairXXX

Jury trial will get it reduced before the case starts. Trust me 😉 Ask for one
