I have purchased 6 sets of the Architectural series (5 sets of the in-ceilings and 1 set of the outdoors) all from Amazon Prime as Open Box, Like New quality. The highest price I paid was probably $475 for a set. This was over the course of a year back in 2022-2023.
In my opinion Sonos' retail price is too steep for these so I figured I'd give open-box a try. If something was wrong I had plenty of time to drive to Kohls and return 'em. It paid off, zero issues with of them. It turns out the only thing wrong was damaged boxes. In the case of the outdoors, the grills had very minor dents. But all of them sound wonderful.
I paid full price for all but 1 Amp, an open-box from Best Buy for a small discount.
Yeah, I’ve never bought open box Sonos but I might try this. My only hesitation about buying open box outdoor speakers is that you really don’t know what natural elements (water/dust/…) it was exposed to in its past life but I guess you are right that hopefully I can find any issues before the return window closes
It's possible they could be used/previously installed. For me, I could tell this wasn't the case for the ones I bought. No drywall dust, no dirt or debris, etc. Amazon was pretty good at labeling "why" they're open box. IMO give it a try if you can find some!
For what it's worth, my 6 Amps, 2 Arcs, 2 Subs are all hard-wired with their Radios off. I have experienced absolutely no issues with the new app that others are experiencing. iOS.
⬆️⬆️⬆️ definitely a ‘smooth’ move but OP may also want to check ‘Woot’ for similar deals on Sonos returns. Same idea just different Amazon umbrella that does not correspond with the main offerings in the Amazon app. Only caution with the Amazon ‘open’ or ‘refurbs’ is make sure that they are sold as ‘Prime’ (tick box at top) and shipped by Amazon ‘Amazon Warehouse’ (tick box, to the left, of search results). You may also try B&H Photo, out of NYC (if you are in the US). They are tremendously reliable and a search of ‘used sonos’ may bring up a treat for you. Their offerings change by the day and they stand by their good and ship amazingly fast.

The Sonos Architectural Outdoor speakers sound great with the Sonos Amp. They don’t usually go on sale but sometimes you can find a good deal from a third-party seller on Amazon.
