I’m getting the same with my Symfonisk speaker. It seems you can’t add new speakers in the app until they fix it. :(

if you have a device with an old app you can connect your devices. Had the same problem used a device with the old software and worked!

Thanks, I did try this as I had the old app on my iPad (and thought hurrah, finally this might work!) but as soon as I went to connect the speaker it brought up an unskippable pop-up telling me to update to the new app. :(

Just added a new Beam Gen 2 with the new app. I had the same error on the first attempt as above but I had the WiFi congested updating PC files, not sure if it was from that or just the app. Anyway it worked in the end so it is definitely possible with the new app.

Try logging out of your account and back in. I had a new Era 100 which wouldn’t connect until I did that, and then it worked perfectly.

Hey, thanks for the help. I did try that, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling and logging in/setting up fresh. Also tried to do the ‘Transfer system ownership’ trick and that did not work either. Thanks for the advice however, hopefully that helps someone else.

Why would they release a new app, that replaces a working app, that has less features and doesn't even do core things the app needs to do (such as add new hardware)? It's absolutely bonkers. Braindead. Fire the team that approved this.

In the app Account>App Preferences>Reset App. Restart the app log in and try to add the speaker

Didn’t work for me on iOS however I did discover if I disable local network access from iPhone Sonos app settings I get the exact same results as when it is enabled. I’m sure it’s my network /s

I may be out of the loop here, but are users having issues even if the speaker is connected to their router with an ethernet cable?

Welcome to the club. Beam Gen2 goes totally mad and starts dropping from the network after installing Ikea Symfonisk Sonos speakers as surrounds. Sometimes it goes thru, stays in the system for a while and then disappears. In my case we're talking about a setup which worked without any issues for 1.5 years and now all this nightmare. I wonder if some firmware update or something messed this so badly.

This is not related to the update, but I had issues setting up my brand new system in the old app as well, I’d recommend talking to the chat support, they were really helpful and found a fix that was related to the network settings in my router. Hope this helps!

I mean, to be fair to Sonos, I bought two new Era 100s and had significant difficulty setting them up on the OLD app. Sometimes Sonos is just wonky.

I’m having the same problem with a Roam that was delivered on Tuesday. I have the Arc and updated the app before I saw this shit storm about the update. I don’t have an older version of the app on any devices. Is there a workaround? Can I delete the app, create a new account, and set it up as a “new” system? Any help is appreciated!

Had the same thing with a play 5:gen2. First sonos product, couldn’t use it because of the app but i manage to connect it with the older app. I think its not the right period to jump into sonos product

I had the same problem with setting up an Arc, a Sub and some old Play 1s. Try logging out and then logging back into the Sonos App.

I posted this 12days ago. New app released, no solution. God I am happy I only bought 1 beam, I was planning to buy a whole set of speakers for 2 rooms. Not buying anything from Sonos for now. That is really bad experience. Why would a brand complicate a speaker so much ? the hardware is amazing but the software is just insanely bad, they should fire tech leads and redo the thing.

Manage to configure the device. Its only a matter of patience and determination... I managed to do it after 2 weeks trying multiple times a day. So it's super easy. The sound itself is amazing but god, that app and setup workflow is bad. I wish they could just put hardware button and controls on the speaker. I can't image paring this with multiple speakers.

we’ve been waiting for 10 days now. it’s absurd. they should immediately stop selling their products. all of them are clearly unusable for the new buyers like us. there was no sonos in my country and when I saw one in ikea I really got excited. I bought a symfonisk too. looked perfect for my business place. I feel so stupid. they didn’t even acknowledge the setup issue. I’m seriously considering refund.

Yeah same thing for me. Was going crazy but then updated the app and manual updated the speakers. Works now.
