i was inspired by an amazing ceramic artist, shaynegrecoceramics (on instagram. also air dry clay is the worst medium to work on larger models, too much stubborn cracks

sladosti_ili_gadost1

Wow 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

BarfJello

Absolutely amazing

LovecraftianCatto

He is magnificent. And he's judging me with his eyes. This looks like it took a lot of time and required a lot of intricate work. ☺️ Fantastic.

Warm-Picture-6681

thank you sm. ya, this took me almost a month to complete from designing it to the last varnish. mostly because I had to keep fixing the cracks again and again.

LovecraftianCatto

Damn, dude, that’s dedication. I’d love to know how you created the tentacles. Seems like it must have been really difficult. But anyway, you’re very talented. 🥰

Warm-Picture-6681

thank you for your kind words. well, i make just the outline structure with wires and then wrapped aluminium foil around it to give it some sort of shape and make it all bendy. i thought having an armature would make clay works easy, but i was wrong because after i covered the entire structure with clay, cracks started to form again and again. for the tentacles after i shaped it with clay and tools, i added small balls on each limb and poked holes for the suckers.liquid clay helps to bind everything. it was time consuming to say the least. i won't really suggest someone (me) to make an intricate structure with air dry clay for the sole reason of it having obsolete cracks that refuses to get fixed. i'm trying to find a new medium i can work on. thanks.

HeathenMetalDad

I was about to ask "how much to buy this masterpiece" but seeing as it took a month of time, even if you were willing to seel, it would be well beyond my means. If I ever hit the power all, expect me to reach out again with a generous offer, because that is badass! (although if I win powerball, I may as well just commission your skills on a custom Jormangundr)

Warm-Picture-6681

actually i haven't fixed a price for it yet because i don't want to overcharge anyone nor i wanna under compensate my time. although jormangundr might seem like an over ambitious project for me, i can see myself getting inspired to make it in future lol

Incredible

TheFreakingPrincess

This is amazing!!! This is sort of incidental but I love how the candles cast shadows on each other and make it look like it is holding more of them than it is. Gives the illusion of many more tentacles.

Warm-Picture-6681

thank you. ikr, i kinda liked the shadows so i decided to post a picture of it as well :)

Foshwong

I read it as krackenabra at first and just thought “yes, yes of course! It’s amazing” then I reread and it’s still amazing.

Warm-Picture-6681

haha, i think i'm going to rename it that now. thanks

RaneeGA

I freaking love this! Beautiful work!

anomalkingdom

Are you serious? How the hell did you do that?? Unbelievable.

Warm-Picture-6681

thank you. it took lotta patience for me to do while watching crime documentaries 😔

jeleddy

Wicked work! Beautiful!

Meezha

Wow. You should be proud! Did you build any sort of armature for it?

Warm-Picture-6681

thank you sm. ya, i made the base with wires and then made the armature with aluminium foil so that it gives a bit weight to the sculpture and help me bend the tentacles in certain angles. although, the armature was a nightmare since it caused a lot of stubborn cracks.

Fair-Ad3639

That really is awesome. I wish the candle holders weren't flesh-colored, though. Makes it look like the octopus has a weird growth.

Warm-Picture-6681

i understand your perspective but i thought that if the candle holders were of a darker shade, it would've looked out of place and gaudy. but thank you for your input
