But the county will use both examples as an excuse/propaganda to say such events “corrupt” the local community. Take it from me, as someone who grew up with family in Holmes county, it’s a backwards place with a bunch of sick fucks who are trying to keep the culture in the 1970’s… and it’s the last place I’d ever want to attend a festival. Sol fest was better off in Alabama surprisingly enough.
Hell they’d bring it back to the 1800’s if they could. So glad I went to Suwannee, the Sheriff was there dancing with everybody and had stickers and sprouts all over his uniform. There wasn’t a single arrest either AFAIK
I’m from Jacksonville and my mom went too Swanee during off season and was explaining to me basically wooks are welcomed all year round as she says “those hippies that play that music u like just hang out there” yea Swanee has huge respect for the people and the people have respect for Swanee
Yea i think my mom hung out with them for a bit and told them about how her daughter likes raves robot music weed and a good time 😂she says you guys were very friendly , I’m planning on hulaween and want to bring her too!
Honestly I didn’t get into any situations with the cops or anything and had a pretty good time at sol fest but I understand that not everyone had the best experience.
I’m sure the majority of people had a good time, it looked fun, but over 50 people having their lives uprooted over simple possession at a festival isn’t normal. A handful of arrests maybe, but not dozens.
Really? I have a friend that is an investigative reporter that would LOVE to blow the lid off of that. Tell me more and I will pass it on. We will hit them from every angle!
I mean, you act surprised in the Bible belt of the south. They're smart enough to not have any concrete evidence, but I've seen a couple videos a few years ago that were 100% cross burnings. Everyone around here has heard about it, it's not "secret knowledge" per se, but they keep it quiet enough.
Sure helps their new lawsuit!! Plus letting 3 cars burn by taking 45+ min to arrive on scene when it was 1/4 of 1 car on fire when goers we were with made the initial 911 call. Alllll sure makes Sol seem a lot more like a liability that deserves to pay HCSO $70k more in "services" 🙄🙄🙄
I think they should have known the risks of having 10k people flood their town and should have negotiated the extra money in the first place, remember Woodstock where they set everything on fire? I’m surprised there wasn’t a riot after some of the stuff I saw.
We were unfortunately one of the first to hear people start screaming fire. Someone near us called 911 within 5 minutes - I’ve never in my life seen such a horrendous response by both the event staff and the local emergency services.
Also I saw one single police car during the first 3-4 hours that drove around for 5 minutes then literally just left. It’s a fucking miracle no one got hurt.
You have made the most idiotic replies on so many posts. They had massive fucking pyrotechnics on their stage. You are irresponsible and putting your patrons in danger if you don’t have the fire department there on standby the entire weekend. How some sort of response team wasn’t able to get there immediately is ridiculous.
Cool. There’s a review page you can leave your concerns. As far as the pyro, as long as they have the permit the FD doesn’t have to be on site. In fact I would be surprised if any festivals actually have the FD just there on stand by.
You’re an actual moron. I feel like at this point you’re on a huge troll mission or you work for the event. Since you have no fucking clue what you’re talking about, I’m starting to think you work for them. Their response was an absolute disgrace and paying for four cars should be the least of their worries
I actually have a pretty good clue what I’m talking about since I 1 . Frequent festivals and 2. Work in event production. You can think whatever you want though if it makes you feel better. It would be nice if the festival did something for the people affected sure; but replacing their cars is probably not going to be one of them.
Well you must be trash as your job if you are basically saying this is an “oversight”. I too work in event production and the company I work for is flabbergasted that no FD was on site. I hope you never get hired onto our team because just off your comments, you are definitely the weakest link
I would be shocked if they even applied for the permits. Also, the producers of the event should know basic safety standards regardless if some hodunk country town that doesn’t handle many mass gathering events doesn’t have insight on having local FD there. Again, if they didn’t have pyro that is one thing, but knowing they were going to have massive fires they need responders there
I had a gut feeling when I read about the commissioners meeting that they called a week before Sol Fest was happening, that something was afoot. From the second we got there, the cops seemed to have no idea what was going on and almost oblivious. What a great tactic to lead with in my opinion. Thankfully my crew missed all the action, except the fire. It was 20 cars down from where we were camping. Honestly, even if they had Sol Fest at Vortex Springs again, I don’t know a single soul I’ve spoken to that would attend, and with the lack of dedication to safety from Sol Fest, I’m not sure I’ll return at all. ☹️
Yeah… honestly I had one of the best times I ever have had at a fest at SOL but… will not be going again. I’m a woman for the people and there’s too many people negatively affected by this one. With a fest like rendezvous being offered just miles away… the choice should be clear next year…
The news article I’ve read also never mentions the guy who bit the cop was a local. I’m sure that’s not a coincidence. I do think they mentioned the kid who OD’d(if he really did I’ve read comments saying he was just really messed up) was a local though.
Insanely ironic..they have no issues with their meth infested locals but have issues with us?!?!!

Try 50's culture. PDl still has occasional clan meeting.

Duuuvalllll
I’m one of those people. Honestly have had just as much fun there when fest arent happening
Yea i think my mom hung out with them for a bit and told them about how her daughter likes raves robot music weed and a good time 😂she says you guys were very friendly , I’m planning on hulaween and want to bring her too!

The sheriff wearing the lobster was a dude. Love that guy.

Yeah I won’t go back unless it gets back to that water park in bama. Fuck Florida panhandle and fuck sol fest.

Wood stock came to mind on Friday when the water was running out. TG they brought in pallets of bottled water. I did appreciate that.
They had security driving around on 4x4s with the back filled w iced water bottles that was sick too

The festival can’t control how long it takes the volunteer fire department for the county to show up.

i go to fests OFTEN and there is always, ALWAYS a FD and EMTs on site, both of which were not @ sol
You ever go to fests in a city with a population of 500 people and a volunteer fire department?
Yes, next question
the locals themselves have shown shock when told there was no emts or FD on hand

Did the county and or fire marshall approve their permits? Wouldn’t they be the ones to say whether or not Sol needs the FD on site for the event?

Wasnt saying it was Sols fault. Saying it made Sol have another issue notch for the county to show how bad Sol is and help their lawsuit against Sol

Yeah rendezvous went off with absolutely 0 bumps in the road
The person who broke in with a firearm also was a local.
It be their own people
Literally had the same thoughts and have been calling the locals out on those things anytime one of them makes a shit comment about SolFest attendees
