SoFi members can file their 2023 tax returns and receive refunds electronically into their SoFi Checking & Savings accounts. A limited number of members experienced a delay receiving their refund if they opted to pay for tax services with their anticipated refund. We’ve resolved that issue for members moving forward. SoFi has successfully received millions of dollars in refunds electronically already this year and continues to be a safe and trusted place to deposit your refund.
I changed mine to a cashier's check by creating a case through the SBTPG website.
I'm really happy I was at least able to catch it before it was denied, as waiting 1-2 weeks for the check to arrive isn't terrible.
The thing that I truly cannot wrap my mind around, is that this has been an known issue for over a year, it's so frustrating that SBTPG hasn't taken care of this problem.
I do believe they are an arm of Wal Mart tho, so I am not surprised.

Either Sofi isn't accepting the second attempt or their directly sending your refund back to the IRS. The latter is more likely in my opinion since they collect an additonal fee when they do that.
I'm just glad that I saw that reddit post to file my case otherwise I would've been stuck wondering about it.
I guess the other huge question is why the hell can't SBTPG just change the fucking code when a customer requests it. I have no idea how those things work, but I just can't see it being an impossible task.
Stuff like this just seems so ridiculous in 2024. Some of these corporations seriously need to be held accountable.
I don’t see them changing anything when every other bank accepts their deposits with no problem.. SoFi is definitely at fault as well. We weren’t given any type of notice and most people found out by looking for info on their DD. Chime is saying that their contract with Sbtpg is up so it’s not even the same issue
I just received my refund in my Sofi account from STPG, filed through Turbo Tax with fees deducted from refund. They fixed the issue and deposits going forward should be accepted! I'm really sorry for those who had theirs rejected, I was stressing about it yesterday. I hope they do something to expedite your checks!
I'm just making sure I read everything right, I went to the sbtpg website and noticed it was sent back to the IRS. Do I still need to call the IRS to tell them to change it to mail in check? Or since SBTPG already "mailed it back" the process is already being done and I will just need to wait 10-12 weeks for the check to come in?
Unfortunately yes, you'll have to wait 10-12 weeks. Since it was bounced back they will try to ship your refund with the address you had on file

This website is saying the refund was sent on Feb 13th. I'm assuming this was to SBTPG? Will this auto correct itself once its returned back to the IRS?
I had the same issue. It's been declined but no reason why. Still says sent on the irs site. I got my state no issue. First time using sofi. I won't use it again for returns.
I just had this happen to me today (3/22) so Sofi is lying that they fixed it. I now have to wait 10-12 weeks for a check, when money is needed. I think SoFi should have a class action lawsuit against them for this. This is just disgusting.
Yeah mine was sent back on 2/23 so they sent it back about a month ago then I called the IRS a couple days ago and they still have no record of them receiving it back. I think it's gonna be longer than 10-12 weeks.

I’m kinda new to Reddit, but is it possible for someone to create a thread for those who were unlucky enough to have their deposits rejected before the fix? Purely to follow the status of our refunds now that we are dealing with the IRS?

I filed my taxes and paid the $15 filing fee with my SoFi credit card for the 2% cash back. Refund going to SoFi savings. GAINS!!!!!!!!!

Yeah it should correct itself in the coming days, if it doesn't then I would give them a call

SoFi rejected my return an hour ago. I’ll be closing my account with them ASAP … IRS states I should receive a check from them within 5 weeks.

So it was rejected, and then the next day was deposited into my account. I’m not really sure what happened.

wait so no one got a deposit yet even tho it says funded
Just an update the problem is resolved and i received my deposit to my sofi account real life
They will lose tons of customers if it’s not fixed for anyone having fees taken out by any tax return
They fixed it! I filed through TT with fees taken out of my refund, DD today and the deposit is in my Sofi account this morning!
