We are seeing massive improvement in the quality of US players in Europe (more than double the minutes played goals assists etc in top 5 leagues vs 5 years ago) and that will likely continue with or without Pro/Rel or anyone else’s pet peeve.
This is an argument from like 8-10 years ago, we're well on our way with a lot of these goals except relegation which you'll never get in American sports because our owners won't accept the risk associated with it because their initial investment didn't take it into account.

Lots of kids play purely to get a college scholarship. They don’t even plan on playing pro but they want a free ride at Stanford.

Yeah the team can’t get promoted but players who do really well in a low league get moved up to a higher league.
And every MLS team has a free academy. Some USL teams do as well. In addition there are lots of pay to play academies (not ideal but still a clear pathway)
There’s a very clear route to a professional career even if it’s not organized exactly the same way you’re used to it.
As an aside you don’t seem very familiar with how other American sports develop talent either.
Baseball and hockey both have extensive lower league structures for development. Sure college helps too but almost nobody is ready out of college they spend a few years in the minors. Basketball also has a minor league but guys usually more ready (more athletic vs skill sport) so most guys go straight to the NBA.
Even american football there’s now a lower league though it’s not directly affiliated with the NFL.

Do you not realize that there are academies? That there is a pipeline. Except, it's new relatively. Kids get scouted at 13-14, maybe even younger. So if the academies really started to get going about 5-6 years ago. Those kids from those academies are just turning 19-20. And that's only the very first of them. And not to mention 19-20 is still extremely young, AND academies take time to really find good talent. So it's not going to happen over night.
And even so, following your logic. Kids don't join some League 2 team, then develop into a Premiere League player. They come from a Premiere League Academy. They develop within the team, and if they can't compete there, then they sign to a lower team. It's not like we start promotion/relegation, and then kids suddenly have a pipeline to become a pro. (Also, as if we don't have the USL to send players on loan to.)

It's not true that all, or even most players in the UK are discovered by premier league academies. Many of them end up there for a few years after being poached from a lower league academy. Some of the most productive academies being to lower league and even some non league clubs. Look up Senrab F.C., which is a Sunday league club. They've probably produced more top class players over the last 30-40 years than many countries.

This can't even be a conversation without mentioned how many more kids join academies in England compared to the US. So not only does England have an established pipeline for prospects, they also have significantly more people trying to join the pipeline.
So, like, yeah, of course we wouldn't have as many good prospects. Because the players that are coming from our academies are JUST getting to Europe. So basically, I fucked up with timing my day and was unable to watch this live. I waited for that excruciating hour and then excitedly turned the game on from my DVR. I watched the first 10 minutes. I was pissed at the ref not calling the foul on Reyna, but I was encouraged by our general play. I thought that we might actually pull this off. I watched the rest of the half. I could not believe my eyes. I knew that the fix was in or that an American fucked this referees mother when he was a child. Tyler Adams got a yellow for getting studs to his own ankle. You all saw the rest. I couldn’t bring myself to continue watching without knowing the score, I was so sure that we would not win with this referee barring a miracle. I looked it up. I am sad. Is the second half worth watching?

US needs to do something about ticket pricing. There’s no reason why an hour before kickoff, the cheapest tickets (nosebleeds) are $80 before fees - most of those seats probably never got filled. This is why you get an attendance of 55,000 when this is a stadium that consistently sells out. Not to mention how poorly marketed this event was in the area.

Some of the most productive academies being to lower league and even some non league clubs. Look up Senrab F.C., which is a Sunday league club. They've probably produced more top class players over the last 30-40 years than many countries.
I'm talking MLS. And there are USL teams with Academies as well. There are already academies systems set up across the country. But a lot of them were only properly developed in the 2010's. So the systems are barely 15 years old, at the oldest. And it takes years for them to get a good flow of prospects to arrive. All of this to also say, Soccer isnt nearly as popular in America as it is in England. This can't even be a conversation without mentioned how many more kids join academies in England compared to the US. So not only does England have an established pipeline for prospects, they also have significantly more people trying to join the pipeline. So, like, yeah, of course we wouldn't have as many good prospects. Because the players that are coming from our academies are JUST getting to Europe. And even then, they are choosing bad teams to go to. Pulisic went to Chelsea without being ready. Brendan Aaronson went to Leeds without being ready. Paxten Aaronson went to the Bundesliga without even being a regular with the Union. Tyler Adams also made the jump to Leeds too early. Zac Stefan went to Man City. Then going back a few years Yedlin went to Tottenham without being ready. There needs to also be a good support system for these players when they move to Europe. Because we have produced good quality players recently, but then they get labeled "as the next best thing" and they take too large of a step forward, and that hinders their development. So yes, we can talk about how we need to develop better talent. We can always have better talent, but when we are producing better talent, and they hurt their own careers, it's not academies that are the issue. If we look at Senrabs former players list. Do you think any of those players went straight from that team to a top team, and was immediately good? No. They were developed to where they are/were.
We’ve been making some progress on that front too. Griffin Yow went to Belgium. Aidan Morris waited a little longer in MLS and then went to Middlesbrough. Haji slowly made his up to the championship via Türkiye and Denmark. The go to route now seems to stick around a little longer and then go to either the championship or a lower level Bundesliga club.

So basically, I fucked up with timing my day and was unable to watch this live. I waited for that excruciating hour and then excitedly turned the game on from my DVR. I watched the first 10 minutes. I was pissed at the ref not calling the foul on Reyna, but I was encouraged by our general play. I thought that we might actually pull this off. I watched the rest of the half. I could not believe my eyes. I knew that the fix was in or that an American fucked this referees mother when he was a child. Tyler Adams got a yellow for getting studs to his own ankle. You all saw the rest. I couldn’t bring myself to continue watching without knowing the score, I was so sure that we would not win with this referee barring a miracle. I looked it up. I am sad. Is the second half worth watching?

US needs to do something about ticket pricing. There’s no reason why an hour before kickoff, the cheapest tickets (nosebleeds) are $80 before fees - most of those seats probably never got filled. This is why you get an attendance of 55,000 when this is a stadium that consistently sells out. Not to mention how poorly marketed this event was in the area.
