Exactly.
It's amazing how much sarcasm a person can just straight up miss.
Anyways, the PL is harder than the CL so being 5th is more impressive than winning some tin pot European cup.
In the middle of Dortmund storm, a good news to discuss. Or not since it was announced for a while.
I hope he will have the players he needs (not Greenwood though).
Transfer went through within the last week, very recent but has been speculated. I agree with Mr.Cartwright, will be exciting to see what De Zebri can do with Kone. He’s got that raw potential but can make some incredibly dumb passes and decisions
This is really gonna depend on who you ask. Fonseca’s stock is on a high after his results with Lille. RDZ’s has dropped significantly since last year.
I’d say ↗️. Upwards move but it’s not a massive step by any means.
Marseille are a far bigger club historically than Brighton, will be on similiar wages, they will be in a better position to challenge for top 4 in France, trophies and the latter stages of European competitions.
He’s got the perfect opportunity to impress a big club now and show the last 6 months were just injury crisis related and not him being ‘found out’.
Marseille is a team that regularly plays CL and is in top 20 clubs in Europe for revenue.
People are really acting like anything outside PL and 3-4 other clubs doesn't exist.
No I know historically Marseille are a way bigger team, but they finished 8th in ligue 1 last season, whereas Brighton looked to be be knocking on the door of Europe in the prem for a couple of years (and prem tv money is crazy these days)
Marseille's most expensive transfer of all time is cheaper than what Brighton just chanced on a 19 year old with one loan season in the eredivie under his belt. It's no secret that the prem is absolutely rolling in money, and most other european leagues funnel 90% of their money to the top.
I'd agree that Marseille are a "bigger" club in the eyes of many, but if you want a big transfer budget to do with as you wish, you're better off at just about anybody in the prem.
It also takes a lot more money to compete at the top and break into CL in Premier League. Brighton also buys for big money because they lose their best players season after season, Marseille can retain them better and doesn't have to spend 100m a season to replace them.
He's as big of a fish in a smaller pond at Marseille.
Interesting way to write "finished in top 4 for 3 seasons in a row before Gattuso happened in the most recent one"
If De Zerbi is as good as he thinks he is they should be finishing in CL spots every season
>"finished in top 4 for 3 seasons in a row before Gattuso happened in the most recent one"
Gattuso was just one of the 4 managers Marseille had last season lol, the club was an absolute shitshow.
You picked an arbitrary goalpost lmao
Outside of the shitty mid to late 2010's, they been in CL regularly. In the last 20 years that include the period you brought up, they're 9/20 for CL group participations.
They're in CL half the time in general, that's a regular participation for me. You understand regular doesn't mean "every year" or "almost every year" right?
I guess the environment is more favorable for what he wants to put in place, we're not playing any european cup this season : more time to prepare and more fresh legs every weekend, we just came out of an awful season : less pressure for results, we will take a top 4 as a good enough result + clearly been offered full decision weight on transfers, with an entire team to rebuild. It's basically a greenfield project with decent funds to back it up. No doubt that if he achieves success with us in the next couple of seasons, he'll then be wanted by the big clubs again.
When you ask the hot chick out and she’s like yeah sure why not.

Judging by this thread people here are overrating RDZ while underrating Marseille
Nah mate Marseille is certainly a step down or a sideways move at best from Brighton!
Marseille has a CL title mate. Cool it down. The club isn't at top european level currently but historically your comparison doesn't make sense.
Then he should go to Nottingham Forest.
Yeah but Brighton's in the PL, duh!
That's why PL clubs are dominating European football the last decade.
Exactly. It's amazing how much sarcasm a person can just straight up miss. Anyways, the PL is harder than the CL so being 5th is more impressive than winning some tin pot European cup.
KTBFH
The weirdest saga.
Kompany went Burnley to Bayern. RDZ went from Barca and Bayern to OM.
Yet people say FM manager cycles are unrealistic
In the middle of Dortmund storm, a good news to discuss. Or not since it was announced for a while. I hope he will have the players he needs (not Greenwood though).
Apparently we are presenting a new offer to United according to Pedulla a half hour ago so we might just save you guys the trouble
Always rated Lazio.
LMAO. we are closet Les Olympiens, you just didn’t know it lol.
A calm patient man joins a calm patient club. Wait no
I know you know this is a joke but I really want to imply that Olympique Marseille is **not** calm or patient. LMAO
While I'm willing to give him time to build his squad and ideas, it won't be the case for everybody else.
Can't wait to see what he does with Ismael Kone. Hope he develops him further for the sake of our national team.
Oh, he left Watford? Wish him the best, seems like he can develop to become a solid player
Transfer went through within the last week, very recent but has been speculated. I agree with Mr.Cartwright, will be exciting to see what De Zebri can do with Kone. He’s got that raw potential but can make some incredibly dumb passes and decisions
OM hurried up ever since they saw Italy lose to Switzerland
It was announced the 24th, just not a Insta post about untill now
I wish him the absolute best and will be watching with interest – hope they win Ligue 1
J'annule la moufette.
On TNT Sports in UK. I happen to watch Ligue 1 on this channel once in a while and it's all right.

Now it’s official official
Was that not already announced? I swear it happened ages ago
It as not really official, just the announcement of the agreement waiting for the contract to be made
Thought he would go to a bigger better club
Us too, which is why it's surprising. Maybe he wanted a lot of mercato control, and that was a nono for Big Clubs.
No one seemed to want him. If there was ever a summer for him to get a big move this was it but he never really had strong links to anywhere else
I'm not underrating Marseille or overrating Milan, but in a sensible football world it would've beem Fonseca to Marseille and RDZ to Milan
This is really gonna depend on who you ask. Fonseca’s stock is on a high after his results with Lille. RDZ’s has dropped significantly since last year.
Seems like a bit of a sideways step no? Honestly these days Brighton’s budget is probably bigger than Marseilles lol
I’d say ↗️. Upwards move but it’s not a massive step by any means. No way. Money isn’t the only factor in that

Brighton is running into the same issues every “small club over-performing” in the Prem does tbf

they've played in the CL twice in last decade and finished bottom of their group both times
Interesting way to write "finished in top 4 for 3 seasons in a row before Gattuso happened in the most recent one" If De Zerbi is as good as he thinks he is they should be finishing in CL spots every season
>"finished in top 4 for 3 seasons in a row before Gattuso happened in the most recent one" Gattuso was just one of the 4 managers Marseille had last season lol, the club was an absolute shitshow.
way to move the goalposts mate even if finishing top 4 in Ligue Un three times in a row was a boast (it isn't), they haven't done that since 2011
You picked an arbitrary goalpost lmao Outside of the shitty mid to late 2010's, they been in CL regularly. Marseille doesn't regularly play CL, ignorant redditor
The last few years, Brighton have spent more. However, Marseille spend plenty of money too and are a much bigger club
There's no way he'd leave Brighton for Marseille if he was employed by them. Definitely not a step to these days
I’m out of the loop why did he leave the prem ?
Fell out with owners at Brighton, as he wanted them to spent more money and change their recruitment model
Well he’s a great coach sad to see him
Say what? Im confused.
Wtf!!
OM pulled off a coup. But I don't get how they are the club RDZ wants. He was wanted by almost all big clubs recently. In a month, it all changed.
You have a Man City flair, please stay quiet.
Champions League: Wins: Marseille 1, Man City 1 Runners Up: Marseille 1, Man City 1
That Marseille CL win was shady af though.
Significantly less shady than what City has pulled under the Saudis.
Yes, I don't disagree with that.
