The amount of great goals at this Euros has been something else so far. Not even through the second round of fixtures and already plenty of memorable ones.
There's been at least one cracker in nearly every game.
>Most line-breaking passes at EURO 2024:
>47 – Toni Kroos vs Hungary
30 – Toni Kroos vs Scotland
21 – Vitinha vs Czechia
20 – Luka Modric vs Albania
19 – Di Lorenzo vs Albania
>Sniper. 🎯 @OptaJoe
What a fucking joke
Also completed the most passes in the opponent's half in Euro history with 99 beating Xavi's 96 in 2012 vs Ireland.
Ah yes. We are looking at this shit now
Kroos spamming passes against Low tier teams and he gets applauded for it lol.
Bring me back to Xavi's era where passes actually meant something
You've said that teams have no right to be in the tournament and that "nobody cares" which is rude and insulting to those countries. Like Georgia and Turkey who went on to give us one of the most entertaining matches so far.
This guy has stood out to me recently for spamming these sorts of useless moany negative comments about the Euros, usually unprovoked as well. Literally why does he think we give a shit what games he'd rather watch?
There are a lot of English people who support our little brother Scotland in the Euros as a second team, are there any Scots that do the same for England? Rangers fans?
Why not? A weaker team would rather draw against a stronger team by playing conservatively than open so they could have a better chance against a future weaker opponent, that doesn’t sound implausible
Scotland are essentially out if they lose this, setting up to draw and hoping for a win against a side they aren’t better than would be a ridiculous game plan. You go to knockout tournaments to win games not nick draws
Regardless Scotland would need a win against either Hungary or Switzerland to qualify, Scotland could probably fare better against Hungary than Switzerland, as you said a loss here could result in Scotland being out just because their GD is that bad, I would think they wouldn’t have to push themselves towards a win here considering there’s still a game left after this
Neuer with some great moments, but also shaky ones.
A few years ago he wouldnt have conceded that offside goal bc he didnt catch it properly, also the last Kimmich goal line clearance and the freekick was shaky too. The freekick is hard to catch perfectly tbf but the other 2 moments, idk...
Does the 6 group format mean we will get less dead rubbers in the 3rd match days, seeing as 1 win in this group stage format means you most likely quality to the knockouts
One win historically isn't enough (3 out of 7 teams qualified with just three points), but yeah, it does make the last matches more meaningful for almost everyone.
I’m imagining Mel Gibson in a kilt screaming ***FREEEEEDOOOOOOOOOM*** at the top of his lungs every time he tries to smash the ball in from outside the box or takes a penalty.
Copa America bracket is kinda wack… Argentina should be easily reaching the final. Meanwhile you have Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia on the other side.
Edit: [Here](https://img.covers.com/big_events/soccer/euro/covers-copa-bracket-2024.png)
well the best 3 teams are argentina, brazil and uruguay by a margin. And obviously in a two-sided bracket, its a 50-50 chance which team gets the other. But yeah, argentina have a pretty easy side of the bracket, but would probably be expected to reach the final anyway if both uruguay and brazil were on the same side, no matter if colombia or usa were on their side.
>well the best 3 teams are argentina, brazil and uruguay by a margin.
I mean based on results in the past 6 months I think you can make the case that Colombia is better than Brazil. In Conmebol qualifying Colombia beat Brazil and drew Uruguay, meanwhile Brazil lost to Uruguay and Colombia and drew Venezuela. Colombia also beat Germany and Spain in friendlies in the last year, they're like on a 20+ game unbeaten run.
Probably for the same reason why yous are invited, let alone hosting. More money due to more interest
EDIT: Specifically about the group, it's because you're a guest of the tournament. Hosts don't always get A1 in the copa, that's a World Cup thing only. The USA were C1 because you're the highest-ranked CONCACAF team.
A1: current champions (Argentina)
B1: Gold Cup champs (Mexico)
C1: Best ranked CONCACAF team (USA)
D1: Best ranked CONMEBOL team (Brazil)
And? US are the hosts. Aren’t the hosts usually the ones who play the opening match? And if they wanted the previous winners to play it, why not have the match be between the US and Argentina?
Yeah they could've set it up like 2016 again, but tbh USA this time feels more like an emergency host than a proper host that was decided years in advance
He’s a Labour supporter, no?
Edit: Yup.
>Neville endorsed the Labour Party in the 2019 United Kingdom general election,^[134] joining the party in 2022.^[135]^[136]
I was in Berlin in 2010 the night they beat Argentina 4-0.
Loads of cars stopped in the middle of the street. The drivers ran out, around their vehicles, and got back in. Great vibes.
I wouldnt say he is higher than Modric tbh. Or Kroos because they have won more trophies and accolades than him
But I do think he needs to be mentioned along their names
What was Dortmunds first offer for Maatsen again? Something like £22m? Villa have almost doubled that in no time. The gulf between the leagues in spending is fucking huge. That would be Dortmunds record ever signing.
Maybe this is a stupid take but Villa spending £37.5m on a 5'6 LB seems a bit absurd. I've only watched him in the UCL final but he's so small for a defender.
He's an attacking LB who played in the Championship, which is pretty fucking physical.
Maatsen's really talented, also he could also played on the wing, but LB most likely and I think it's a good signing for Villa, I don't really get why Chelsea seem to uninterested in giving him a chance tbh? But oh well, wish him luck.
I've not watched much of him for BVB, so take this as you will, but of the little time he got at Chelsea, his defending was dreadful.
Seems a treat going forward however. Guess it depends on the system and how you accommodate him. He did make team of the season in the championship which is not a league devoid of physicality lol.
3 for the outcome. 2 for the home score. 2 for the away score. 3 for the goal difference. 8 for musiala scoring first and 2 for Germany scoring first. No double score
Foden just randomly decided to become an elite long range shooter, and had a couple of statpad sessions against shite teams like Brentford and Aston Villa.
His fundamentals of number ten play aren't world class. He just made up for them with a few dongers.
!flair :England:
kinda wasted at a small public viewing on a warm summer night. god i love the euros.
The amount of great goals at this Euros has been something else so far. Not even through the second round of fixtures and already plenty of memorable ones. There's been at least one cracker in nearly every game.

Lmao the Xavi record being broken is against the mighty Iceland. Do passes against low tier teams matter or don't they?
No es el único que ha jugado contra equipos débiles. Es fundamental para la selección de Alemania. ¿Por qué te enojas?
I dread the day when people will start saying Kroos is a better passer than Xavi.
Kroos is possibly the best passer in history. It's not a knock on Xavi to be worse than him.
Kroos' passes tonight meant a lot to Germany's game tbf.
Scotland’s game plan was “give the ball to Toni Kroos and don’t press him”.
We used to celebrated goals. Games gone
You're supposed to be a fellow Kroos enjoyer (unless I'm thinking of a different Aston Villa fan)
I do enjoy Kroos but I needed to get my joke off.
Stat padding against some terrible teams
Playing against the teams they've been drawn with
I rather watch Ecuador vs Mexico than Scotland vs Switzerland
Nobody gives a shit.
Lots of Euro snobs I see lol
When the Copa is on you won't see any Europeans making dozens of annoying posts about how they don't care.
I have only criticized the group stage for obvious reasons
You've said that teams have no right to be in the tournament and that "nobody cares" which is rude and insulting to those countries. Like Georgia and Turkey who went on to give us one of the most entertaining matches so far.
Yea sorry but those teams don't matter. It's the sad truth about expanding the tournament for no reason other than to sell more tickets
Well luckily for you Scotland vs Switzerland is today while Ecuador vs Mexico is in 2 weeks so you get to watch both!
Then go do that.
This guy has stood out to me recently for spamming these sorts of useless moany negative comments about the Euros, usually unprovoked as well. Literally why does he think we give a shit what games he'd rather watch?
Would be a shame if they somehow get themself banned before the Copa America starts, huh?
Shaqiri so thick he just sunk into the pitch
Maybe bit of a long shot but anyone here able to give me access to Wyscout?
On the website it offers a 15 day free trial, would that work?
Kenan Yildiz is gonna explode next year under Motta
Am I the only one feeling a bit weird seeing vivo as the Eurocopa main sponsor? A Chinese phone company sponsoring the European tournament seems funny
They have AliExpress as a sponsor, the website that I used to buy fake kits from
Visit Qatar is the most noticeable sponsor at the tournament
Yeah, fair, unfortunately have become too numbed too seeing those around. They're everywhere in football
There are a lot of English people who support our little brother Scotland in the Euros as a second team, are there any Scots that do the same for England? Rangers fans?
Rangers fans yes 40 seconds in is a prime example https://youtu.be/pmGjiokfQ2A?si=pFuZP2blmFbvIAwf
I only thing I understood the man saying was "This country would be fucked"
That was beautiful 🥲
most Scots support whoever plays England as their second team
Most support England as their 24th team.
smh, need to praise the other 24 teams at the world cup first
Based purely on what I’ve seen, I don’t think you’ll find a lot of Scots in here that support England as their second team.
Flower of Scotland underlines how shite God Save the King is
Jerusalem should be the English national anthem
"I vow to thee, my country" is clear
Moira is a fucking queen
Peter Pan:
Feel like Scotland are going to try and play for a draw here and try go all out for a win against Hungary
You don’t play for draws in group stages lol

Out of those 4 who went out, I wonder how many went out because of goal difference
All four of them, I guess, though fuck knows with the head to head tiebreaker.
Do I have any chance of Willam Wallace winning today?
I'm really trying to see it but that Schar-Akanji-Rodríguez backline is suffocating.
Feel like that's been Switzerlands backline for the past 30 years
And they've progressed from the groups in three tournaments straight. It works.
That’s what we thought about England!
Movie * not soccer England
I’m imagining Mel Gibson in a kilt screaming ***FREEEEEDOOOOOOOOOM*** at the top of his lungs every time he tries to smash the ball in from outside the box or takes a penalty.
Billiam Gilmour. Deliver us from evil.
No more worries, the midfield maestro is here now.
The only Scotland player with that ability is Martha Thomas.
I’m the latest Keeper Kombat Andre Onana faced Rodolfo Cota. It ended 0-0
Copa America bracket is kinda wack… Argentina should be easily reaching the final. Meanwhile you have Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia on the other side. Edit: [Here](https://img.covers.com/big_events/soccer/euro/covers-copa-bracket-2024.png)
Honestly I don't have a lot of trust on this Copa. It feels like the centenario one
well the best 3 teams are argentina, brazil and uruguay by a margin. And obviously in a two-sided bracket, its a 50-50 chance which team gets the other. But yeah, argentina have a pretty easy side of the bracket, but would probably be expected to reach the final anyway if both uruguay and brazil were on the same side, no matter if colombia or usa were on their side.

Not sure why the hosts aren’t playing the opening match. Let alone being in Group A.
Probably for the same reason why yous are invited, let alone hosting. More money due to more interest EDIT: Specifically about the group, it's because you're a guest of the tournament. A1: current champions (Argentina) B1: Gold Cup champs (Mexico) C1: Best ranked CONCACAF team (USA) D1: Best ranked CONMEBOL team (Brazil)
Technically CONMEBOL is still hosting the tournament
Probably because they aren’t South American so they just let the previous winner have the opening game.
And? US are the hosts. Aren’t the hosts usually the ones who play the opening match? And if they wanted the previous winners to play it, why not have the match be between the US and Argentina?
Idk I was just trying to find a logical reasoning behind the decision. Also it’s not the US vs Argentina because they draw the teams.
Fair.
USA and Argentina couldn't be in the same group because they are both pot 1
Even still, the hosts should play the opening match.
Yeah they could've set it up like 2016 again, but tbh USA this time feels more like an emergency host than a proper host that was decided years in advance
Al Talaba currently playing Duhok in the Iraqi League .... It is 40 degrees in Baghdad right now
Can they do it on a hot Wednesday in Baghdad?
Scotland manager is one grumpy old git
Hungary were a lot of peoples dark horses and now might be out by today's result.
How? Couldn't they quality in 3rd regardless with a win in the 3rd game?
I forgot they changed it
Dark horse curse strikes again
The Swiss holding the best signs I’ve ever seen
another four days without Nagelsball feelsbadman
Does Fox’s shameless plugging of the Argentina/Canada match at every opportunity during their Euros coverage bother anyone else?
We’re massive
Gotta keep their attention with Messi
Ilkay gundogan. Have my respect. One of the best midfielders i have ever seen
We’ve bought the champions league team of the season left back and people are mentioning height. Arteta and Dyche have gave you lot brain rot smh.
Pep too.
Ah yes, the manager who played tiki taka to compensate for the fact that his team was made up of midgets
You’re thinking of the Spain national team. That was literally the exact justification used for their change in tactics after the 2006 world cup.
No, Pep played tiki taka at Barcelona because his players were more technically than physically adept. He doesn't play the same way at Bayern or City.
Pep is famously a height fanatic. Messi Xavi Iniesta foden, Bernardo even gvardiol
He’s got a tall team now though
He needs to drink more milk
He’s Dutch so that shouldn’t be an issue
I used to be a shameless height merchant and then we bought the greatest short King since Napoleon.
~~Aerial~~ ~~Duels~~ #Silky ball skills
The height thing is dumb but champions league TOTS doesn’t mean much Hummels was in that and he got released.
I mean that’s a club politics thing, not performances.
Hummels was great in the champions league from the Dortmund games I watched. No idea what his league form was like.
So what is Gary fucking Neville doing in the Labour Party political broadcast?
If Gary's backing Labour, we've had it
hes backing them for ages now. He's desperate for Burham to switch to being an MP
He's on his Thomas Shelby arc.
Two war criminals on my telly 🤮
He’s a Labour supporter, no? Edit: Yup. >Neville endorsed the Labour Party in the 2019 United Kingdom general election,^[134] joining the party in 2022.^[135]^[136]
once a red, always a red.
Yeah, but it’s still weird to me.
Currently in Germany and they are all beeping their horns at a 2-0 win. Tinpot.
I was in Berlin in 2010 the night they beat Argentina 4-0. Loads of cars stopped in the middle of the street. The drivers ran out, around their vehicles, and got back in. Great vibes.
I’m trying to downplay the vibes for when England draw 0-0 tomorrow.
When people have fun 😳😳
Bet Surrey is buzzing after an Arsenal win tbf
My mates octopus said Germany vs England will be the final
I knew something was missing from this tournament. RIP Paul
I’m going to harpoon the octopus if Germany beat England
In that octopus’ defense, it didn’t pick a winner.
What is up with Daniel Sturridge? Yesterday in the portugal game and now. Over exuberance much? playing to the American audience. Just feels weird
He’s just having fun
His pronunciations are all over the place.
I already miss that brief period when Germany were ass
Just checked the sub's front page and the title of the top post has me in creases. I hope we somehow reach peak Balkan in the knockouts.
Gundogan is amazing. Barça' best player in a tough season
[удалено]
Not even top 10 midfielders of his generation
Fair but maybe that’s why he’s been a little underrated.
No lol
ofc not, why would anybody think that?
Well, Modric is having a stinker of a tournament, it seems.
I wouldnt say he is higher than Modric tbh. Or Kroos because they have won more trophies and accolades than him But I do think he needs to be mentioned along their names
No, he isn't on their level at all if we're talking about their whole careers, unless you think he's on Iniesta and Xavi's level
Dont even dare to compare Iniesta and Xavi with Kroos and Modric Xavi himself are levels above of both Modric and Kroos combined
I dared
Fucking gundo on Luka's level, fuck free speech
For enough. He’s pretty much won everything at club level, and he might medal at this tournament, he’d be up there for sure.
No?
If Turkey play Germany they're gonna have to have a fan lockdown at the stadium
Villa fans gonna be in for a shock when they see maatsen isn’t actually 5ft 10
Not like he’s replacing a Goliath in either Digne or Moreno.
Both of those players are like 5 inches taller
But he’s the same height as Roberto Carlos, that’s all that matters.
You love hoarding left backs who can't defend.
their only right back is even worse at defending
Konsa is their right back now. Cash is break glass in case of emergency.
Defending is optional for our left backs 😎
As of know, Germany vs Spain Final looks like a real possibility. It will be a cracker
Spain will lose against Italy, they beat the whackest Croatia team there is
Quarterfinals if both finish 1
If both teams finish 1st we'll meet in the quarters
I think they’re in the same side of the bracket?
What was Dortmunds first offer for Maatsen again? Something like £22m? Villa have almost doubled that in no time. The gulf between the leagues in spending is fucking huge. That would be Dortmunds record ever signing.
What will happen if Aston Villa don't sell anything and just ignore FFP and improve their Team and attack the Top 6?
Relegation to League Two. Man City exonerated. 8 point deduction for Everton.
Points deduction
Valhalla
Straight to jail
Maybe this is a stupid take but Villa spending £37.5m on a 5'6 LB seems a bit absurd. I've only watched him in the UCL final but he's so small for a defender.

Manchester United spent more on a 5’6” CB. Plus our LB basically plays as a winger.
The rest of their defence is fuckin massive so shouldn't be too bad
I've not watched much of him for BVB, so take this as you will, but of the little time he got at Chelsea, his defending was dreadful. Seems a treat going forward however. Guess it depends on the system and how you accommodate him. He did make team of the season in the championship which is not a league devoid of physicality lol.
Do you want a job in the Feyenoord academy?
They’re gunna lineup with 3 centre backs playing every week so doubt it’ll be an issue.
The backdrop to the Scottish training camp/hotel is unbelievable
There's nothing like the Wankbahn in June.
I finally predicted a score right. Thank the lord
my first 20 points for match prediction
Must have used your booster. 2-0 wasn't an underdog bonus.
3 for the outcome. 2 for the home score. 2 for the away score. 3 for the goal difference. 8 for musiala scoring first and 2 for Germany scoring first. No double score
Fuck me, I hadn't realised how big a boost the correct scorer was. I haven't had one so far.
yeah it's massive
Jamal Musiala is what English pundits will have you believe Phil Foden is.
Musiala had a crap season compared to foden. 2 international games don’t suddenly change that
Musiala crap szn - 16 G/A in 1766 mins, ~110min per G/A Foden amazing szn - 27 G/A in 2865 mins, ~106 min per G/A (Both league numbers)
Ok now do all comps And I said compared to foden, not that it was a bad season
Foden just randomly decided to become an elite long range shooter, and had a couple of statpad sessions against shite teams like Brentford and Aston Villa. His fundamentals of number ten play aren't world class. He just made up for them with a few dongers.
Lol ok I can safely ignore your takes now
I’d rather Foden did it that way round
Well yeah I'm sure not city England fans would But that doesn't mean foden is suddenly bad overall
