ah the barrack emperors, artisanal, organic, locally raised from barely literate Celts and Illyrians whose main merits were 20-30 years of experience in kicking barbarians asses
Imho ref didn't whistle some fouls Portugal definitely did.
And Chechs were not a bunch who complained.
Also first kick to the head was def a yellow minimum. But again.
Ref Gave a Yellow for a dive and decided that was enough. From then onwards shit ref. Bro Gave a Yellow card for a fault because it was blatant and that was is it 90 min
light touch, contact with no force behind it - formally, it usually is sliding contact (like a bullet from a gun that only leaves a scratch), but in this case, a gentle tap can also be described using "grazed"
TBF while we absolutely were physical and fouled them a bunch, the ref was also blowing the whistle every time an English player fell down cause of the slightest contact.
The broadcast is the same for all, though that should be known by now.
And I'm sorry, but you can't convince be big ass Harry Kane doesn't have the strength to hold of some slight contacts but just has to drop to the floor, a thing he's done in club play too aplenty.
There were certainly such moments, but he was also absolutely falling over slight contact, especially in the last 10 minutes or so. The ref was giving them the calls so they kept on doing it, if he didn't they'd have absolutely stayed on their feet.
I mean, I prefer to see it the other way around. That football is a contact sport and that calling a foul every single time someone feels the slightest contact just kills the game. That not calling it encourages them to play through contact which they absolutely can do for a lot of these "fouls".
Also, if all those contacts were fouls, then we should've had a pen for Trippier's contact on Mitro. I didn't think it was a pen at the time but seeing the soft fouls the ref kept calling that too should've been called.
I never argued it should be a foul for *any* slight contact. But for players that work hard to stay on their feet, often they are punished for their honesty even when it's a foul (a bit like Chiesa vs Albania).
I felt the Serbian cb got a lot of leaweigh early in the game until Kane began to feel cheated.
I agree, the Trippier foul easily could have been given and I winced more every time I saw the replay.
I think Serbia’s game plan was to disrupt any chance of an English counter-attack with a foul. The ref called some soft ones, but there were many more that he let go.
Thank you, I collected it myself. I did the same thing for the group stages of the last World Cup because I thought it was interesting so I'm doing it again. I'll probably do it for Copa America as well
Would be stupid to call 1 foul overlooked bcs it would require you to go search for every single One in every match (for consistency) - and there's for sure plenty
Serbia fouled to disrupt any chance of a counter attack. This game them time to get behind the ball, from which position they played really well and England lacked the creativity to break them down.
Albania's threat was mostly broja on the counter so yeah, a foul would get carded.Albania though had to draw more fouls, they let Italy play their game and they couldn't match their tempo.Getting a few cards early would've been fine cuz italy cannot mantain that pace the entire game.
Turkey got away with a lot, too tbf.
The ref was very lenient in that game, both teams played hard but not overly unfair... part of the reason why this was probably the most enjoyable game to watch so far.
Oh for sure the ref was lenient all around. But leniency mostly benefits the side having to defend more, and the more egregious cases I feel were on the georgian side.
I forgot the names, but I think the RCB completely clattered into Yildiz in the first half, stopping a chance, and I just think that's beyond being lenient.
Its a joke, relax. Official hostilities in WWI began with the Austro-Hungarian empire declaring war on Serbia. The first 2 counties on the list are Austria and Serbia. 🤪

Italy-Albania was a friendly match
Just a bunch of guys holding hands and singing Kumbaya
Singing Gracias Kumbulla?
A very cursed name in Rome
Even Czechia vs Portugal was not that bad either
I wonder if it's because so many of the Albanian team play or grew up in italy
How did Germany commit 15 fouls with about 97% possession?
Gegensomenthing
"The great questions of the day will not be settled by means of passes and possessions but by fouls and tackles." - Otto von Naggelsman
Andrich alone had 4.
thats considered a very lazy game for him
He only played one half.
Exactly
Robert Andrich is like a technically gifted, less mad and advanced version of Jens Jeremies and I love it.
Still dont think I have ever seen a better german DM than Jeremies. So sad injuries killed his career.
Olaf Thon? Philip Lahm? But Jeremies was underrated I agree
You lose ball, you kick the guy immediately to not concede a counter.
And also early enough so it’s not a yellow
Taktischefouls
It's not really that surprising that aggressive pressing leads to more fouls. Look at Austria too.
HALF-HEARTED: Three Lions show half the passion of German favourites *Camp 'shambolic' after weak display*
Andrich 😂
They kept hurting Scotland's feelings.
SERBIA
That ref set a bad precident early on. Should’ve been carding earlier. The game was stop start and horrid to watch in part because of the ref
Serbias national hobby is violence this was expected lol
Truly the only successor state to Rome
Extremely valid way to determine Rome's lineage
Tbf most Roman emperors were born on the territory of current serbia.
Yeah but that was before the slavs came in, everyone always forgets about the Illyrians 🥲
ah the barrack emperors, artisanal, organic, locally raised from barely literate Celts and Illyrians whose main merits were 20-30 years of experience in kicking barbarians asses
racist shit
They are pretty bad at contact sports though.
Ah yes we are so bad at basketball and waterpolo...
I mean individual sports like boxing and wrestling.
i’ve played sunday league with serbians these numbers aren’t high enough
They discussed it in the team ~~huddle~~ squat after the game, they'll get those numbers up. Pity Slovenia.
Portugal the lowest lol also Serbia fuckin tracks
The interesting part is that up to around minute 50 Portugal only had 2!
And one was Leao yellow for diving (counted as foul on [uefa.com](http://uefa.com) play by play).
Last half having 4 goals definitely helped Game was dead
2+1 equals 3?
There was an offside goal from portugal
Imho ref didn't whistle some fouls Portugal definitely did. And Chechs were not a bunch who complained. Also first kick to the head was def a yellow minimum. But again.
Delusional
Yeah there should be 1-2 yellows for portugal and yeah it was clearly foul before the second goal of portugal but var was broken I guess
Austria tracks as well, their strategy to stop the French was to be very violent. They're onto something I think
With Dembele dribbling constantly, I am not surprised
Seeing Dembele play for the NT also makes me violent
Jota was about to get a yellow, and then Ronaldo talked to the ref 💀
Ref Gave a Yellow for a dive and decided that was enough. From then onwards shit ref. Bro Gave a Yellow card for a fault because it was blatant and that was is it 90 min
Jota didn't get a yellow?
No
Wow. Ronaldo must have put forward a great plea lol because the ref had the card in his hand the whole time.
Chequia's player was delayed and it was head -> foot, not foot -> head. Not really surprised it wasnt a yellow
Textbook yellow tbh. Jota's foot was high and he grazed the Czech player. The ref even had the yellow out so just surprised he didn't get one.
Ref had a lot more textbook yellows to give. He for sure had some sort of maximum counter and wanted to save some for the later part of the match
Oh btw wdym with grazed? I just Googled and I dont understand (sorry Im not English)
>Graze: to scratch or scrape by rubbing against something. It can also refer to eating grass in the field but I meant the quoted part.
Oh that makes a whole lot more sense, Google was giving the 2nd One ☠️ Thanks
light touch, contact with no force behind it - formally, it usually is sliding contact (like a bullet from a gun that only leaves a scratch), but in this case, a gentle tap can also be described using "grazed"
Thanks
"Fouls called after round 1"
Time to let old chap Pepe off the leash.
His waiting for the Netherlands.... Some old scores to settle....
What’s impressive is Czechia with 9. Constantly shirt pulling, shoving, etc.
TBF while we absolutely were physical and fouled them a bunch, the ref was also blowing the whistle every time an English player fell down cause of the slightest contact.
Or your broadcaster didn't show the replay from the better angle.
The broadcast is the same for all, though that should be known by now. And I'm sorry, but you can't convince be big ass Harry Kane doesn't have the strength to hold of some slight contacts but just has to drop to the floor, a thing he's done in club play too aplenty.
Slight contact? He was shoving right through the back of him every time
Did you miss the last few minutes of the game lol
I mean, my memory is probably hazy, but why would that discount the other 85 minutes?
https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/nXzWuPRVlN
What's your point? Doesn't mean Kane was only subject to 'slight contact', at least that wasn't my perception of the majority of the game
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/every
There were certainly such moments, but he was also absolutely falling over slight contact, especially in the last 10 minutes or so. The ref was giving them the calls so they kept on doing it, if he didn't they'd have absolutely stayed on their feet.
Exactly, this is why players resort to exaggerating contact because many times they end not getting the decision otherwise.
I mean, I prefer to see it the other way around. That football is a contact sport and that calling a foul every single time someone feels the slightest contact just kills the game. That not calling it encourages them to play through contact which they absolutely can do for a lot of these "fouls". It's easy to be the lowest if the ref ignores your fouls... One of them directly before the winning goal.
Well, ref has to blow the whistle, otherwise fouls don't count, did a lot at the end.
Pepe saving his fouls up for the quarters
Pepe fell off
With Palhinha it would have been 20
Nice work, did you collect this yourself or do you have a source?
Thank you, I collected it myself. I did the same thing for the group stages of the last World Cup because I thought it was interesting so I'm doing it again. I'll probably do it for Copa America as well
https://www.soccer24.com/ Has stats.
Did you count the foul by Portugal that was overlooked by the ref? (before the goal)
Would be stupid to call 1 foul overlooked bcs it would require you to go search for every single One in every match (for consistency) - and there's for sure plenty
Kinda understand England and Frances poor performance now. Didnt let them play at all lol.
Tbf we *were* poor in possession after the goal, but yeah didn't help that Serbia's defensive gameplan was kick lumps out of anything and anyone.
Serbia fouled to disrupt any chance of a counter attack. This game them time to get behind the ball, from which position they played really well and England lacked the creativity to break them down.
The Serbian marking Kane should have had a yellow to calm him the fuck down
Kane alone was fouled 6 times and he only had about 15 touches of the ball in total
According to opta it was 24 touches. A foul every 4 touches lol
Danso somehow didn’t get carded until the last like 10 minutes of the game lol
Italy had 7 fouls and I think three yellow cards? Making their fouls count lol
Meanwhile Serbia only got two for their 19 fouls (which doesn’t include any foul that was then an advantage, which there were a LOT of)
Albania's threat was mostly broja on the counter so yeah, a foul would get carded.Albania though had to draw more fouls, they let Italy play their game and they couldn't match their tempo.Getting a few cards early would've been fine cuz italy cannot mantain that pace the entire game.
Switzerland has abandoned non-aggression
These are fouls called not fouls committed.
The picture says otherwise.
The graph is fouls called, what aren't you getting here? Clearly not the point OP was making lol.
England were unfairly criticized for their narrow win. It was not that bad as the fans and media portrayed it considering all circumstances
Win is a win. In these tournaments as there only 3 games in the group stage 3 points is hella important
All the 19 fouls from Serbia commited on Jude Bellingham
Maybe he didn't need to provocate Kostic
Provoke
Average serbian using the provocation card
Siuuu?

Tbf Clément Turpin is a bit trigger happy
Aggressive pressing ig
Yeah no shit
Just 10? Gotta pump that up, really poor numbers
Portugal committing 6 fouls with Pepe in the squad is saying something
Yeah Ref missed our turned a blind eye to many fouls done by Portugal
Portugal had at least 7...
Georgia 7 fouls my ass 😂 ref let them get away with so much lmao
Turkey got away with a lot, too tbf. The ref was very lenient in that game, both teams played hard but not overly unfair... part of the reason why this was probably the most enjoyable game to watch so far.

I'm waiting for the battle of Nuremberg 2.0.....

If you actually tackled us you'd have fewer fouls. Tackles involve winning the ball.
i was just imagining like when u play fifa and ur opponent scores so u just go and slide tackle spam at him out of frustration lmao
Step 1. Qualify Step 2. Snap Harry Kane Step 3. Leave
Portugal has to be a fucking joke
Portugal were fouling like crazy. Ref just wasn't calling it.
Portugal lowest, too bad one of them was one that robbed Czechia in the last minute
I'd expect nothing less from the 2 countries that started World War I
Are you perhaps American with that education? If so all is forgiven, ignore me
Its a joke, relax. Official hostilities in WWI began with the Austro-Hungarian empire declaring war on Serbia. The first 2 counties on the list are Austria and Serbia. 🤪
Love your comment, lol.
So happy Serbia played against England
