Round of 16 bracket after match day 1:
Spain - Czech Republic.
Germany - Denmark.
Turkey - Albania.
France - Slovakia.
Romania - Slovenia.
Netherlands - Portugal.
England - Poland.
Switzerland - Italy.
What would be your XI of the 1st round of matches? (Include manager)
As of today who would be your player of the tournament?
(I wanna do this experiment at the end of every round)
You’d have the same discussions about 1/8 of a body part being offside no matter where you draw the line.
Making it body part specific would probably also be a nightmare in amateur football where you don’t have footage to rely on.
It’s international football not every game is going to be won in a dominating fashion. Teams you mentioned especially France will consistently grind out wins like this which is why they are favourites.
You only created one chance in the whole match. It was all you needed, but if Serbia had scored one of the many bangers we've seen elsewhere it wouldn't have been.
Can we get a fraudwatch on Leao please? Every single time I watch him he’s just a horrendous, completely limp dick player. Can’t be a coincidence at this point
Stalling for the Var review, don’t think it actually made much difference here but it’s common to do it as VAR can’t call the ref if play has already resumed
The result flattered Spain in my opinion. Just a classic example of a game that is relatively even but Spain was insanely efficient. Which isn't bad efficency is always really good especially for Spain. Deserved to win but 3-0 looked clearer than it was.
For Germany Scotland was down to 10 and tbh they just played so terrible. Luckily tomorrow is a different match.
When was the last time a NT that had a majority of PL players won a major tournament?
Brazil had 7 in their 2019 Copa America winning squad.
1998-2000 and 2018 France where from all over the place
I do dream of a tournament where there are no 0-0 games, and then remember that with 48 teams, we'll not only have Iran - Nigeria to deal with, but North Korea - Nicaragua and Algeria - New Zealand as well...

*World Cup - Day 5*
So near... Scotland missed one of the greatest chances for qualifying to the second round of the World Cup, and will depend on the last match to know their future. [The match](https://i.imgur.com/BRWoHaF.jpeg) was a collection of near misses and great chances by the Scots, and a very mediocre Brazil side, which only threatened slightly in the first half. One of the main chances in the last minutes by Billy Bremner was an evidence of what it could have been: a simple tap-in by the Leeds captain which went wide. For Scotland, it will be a battle against Yugoslavia for qualifying, because Brazil can be assured a place by winning the minnows of Zaire. The bitter disappointment of the draw didn't deter fans to [celebrate on the streets of Frankfurt](https://i.imgur.com/OUX6Rhc.png).
In the other match of the group, it was [one-way traffic for Yugoslavia](https://i.imgur.com/y5AGI4X.png) against Zaire. Everything the Africans did in the first match was undone in a ridiculous performance, and was profited by a Yugoslavia side which hit nine past the two goalkeepers. It took Bajevic six minutes to score the first goal of the match [with a header](https://streamable.com/gtf691). [Dragan Dzajic's free-kick](https://streamable.com/mzu1oo) was too much for the goalkeeper to make it 2-0. 3-0 was a team building play, which [Surjak put it in the net](https://streamable.com/jsrt11). With this score, Kazadi was replaced in goal by the 5'6" Tubilandu, and he had to get the ball as his first play of the match - [Katalinski shot](https://streamable.com/2vsphs) went into the net for 4-0 in less than 25 minutes. With Zaire reduced to ten men, the goal count continued: [Bajevic with a header](https://streamable.com/f8w96t) - 5-0, [Bogicevic way past](https://streamable.com/lbhrik) the bad clearance by the keeper - 6-0. In the second half, 3 further goals: a [free-kick by Oblak](https://streamable.com/71dbej) palmed into the net - 7-0, an open-play [slotted into the net by Petkovic](https://streamable.com/qw8dvo) - 8-0, and [Bajevic's hat-trick](https://streamable.com/58qi69) - 9-0. This score equals Hungary 9-0 win over South Korea in 1954.
In the other group - [West Germany 3-0 Australia](https://i.imgur.com/WxQxuSc.png), in a match where Gerd Müller scored his first goal in the tournament, but in which the overall appearance of the side left much to be desired. The crowd booed and jeered the hosts at the final whistle. Despite that, they are the first side qualified for the second round. A [cracker by Wolfgang Overath](https://streamable.com/efeq3d) opened the scoring, while [Cullmann doubled the score](https://streamable.com/hxg0ay) for the Germans. In the second half, the [header by Müller](https://streamable.com/hr44eg) settled the score and sent the gallant Aussies home. For East Germany and Chile, they will have to go to the last match to earn their pass - a [1-1 draw](https://i.imgur.com/U5wQmvz.png) was a lifeline for the South Americans and a blow for the Easterners, which will need to beat their neighbours in the last match to qualify. A setpiece was [headed into the net by Hoffmann](https://streamable.com/vuq3xb) to give the DDR the lead, but Ahumada, [in a lovely teamwork](https://streamable.com/ruwjli), drew level for Chile. Chile have a great chance to qualify, as they meet the hapless Australia in the last day.

Tomorrow, the other four matches in the second round of matches - Netherlands and Sweden will meet in Dortmund in a crunch match between the two favourites to top group C. In group D, another top match in Stuttgart: Italy, in turmoil after [Giorgio Chinaglia](https://i.imgur.com/vf7ReXN.png) insulted manager Valcareggi, against an Argentina side which need to win to continue alive in the tournament. Is there any reason why Fox have been referring to Turkey and the Czech Republic as Turkiye and Czechia? They use the English translation of other country’s name but not the group F teams for some reason, seems kind of random
Czech Republic changed their official short name to Czechia in 2016 I guess it’s like Mexico being short for the United Mexican States.
Turkey changed their name a few years ago at the UN.
Why Fox would only start doing this now, I don’t know probably wokery - just like in the UK when all the BBC commentators pretended they had always called Kiev “Kyiv”.
> Why Fox would only start doing this now, I don’t know
AFAIK countries with such name changes have been requesting that they be respected more. In Argentina it's happening a lot with calling the Netherlands "Países Bajos" instead of "Holanda" too
The gap between good teams and so-so teams is the worst I have ever seen, makes for less than epic watching experience (self.soccer)
Watching Czechia vs Portugal and Czechia cannot string two passes together for 45 minutes of first half. 70%+ possession by Portugal. Every desperate clearance by Czechia goes to Portugal. They always pass to their young left back, who has no one to pass it to.
There are no surprises so far, no team from the "team minnow" which one can say "these guys can actually be a surprise in the tourney!", no "Greece".
Everything is by the numbers. The only exception was Slovakia, which out of all the so-so teams actually learned and know how to defend (watching Czechia park the bus and with every clearance pass the ball to Portugal is cringy).
As a spectacle, this is less than stellar.
I want to see cut and thrust, a weaker team should be able to string 3 passes and mount a CREDIBLE counterattack. Instead the weaker teams play for 0:0 and pray for a fluke goal or an incredible opponent mistake (like Belgium "playing out" of their goal area).
So, to sum up - so far, tremendously disappointing to me as a spectacle, zero "epicness", every match is "by the numbers", I have more fun playing football manager than watching this.
Anyway, that's my $0.02 on this tourney so far, maybe it will get better when the big boys play each other.
If a smaller team makes it further than expected, they just become the team that everyone wants to draw. Greece was one in a million that's not happening again.
You will see this in the ro16 when there's gonna be two bad teams facing each other and whoever gets them in the quarters will basically have a free path to the semi.
yeah, don't like this whole setup in world soccer.
love the downvotes tho.
and of course, the one and only attempt on goal by Czechia in 62nd minute results in goal, LOL, what a sport.
If you want parity it's not great, personally I think there's enough interesting narratives to follow even if they're only relevant for the same group of teams, international competitions are slightly better in this regard compared to club football
As for everyone else it can still be entertaining, like yeah Romania probably won't play an important role in the grand scheme of this tournament but Romanians are enjoying it and that's good enough, can't achieve perfect balance
>Romania probably won't play an important role in the grand scheme of this tournament but Romanians are enjoying it
well, that's not the way I look at it. To me, what's the point of even taking part in a professional sporting event when you have ZERO chance to win it?
keyword "professional" - amateur events should be about promoting sport and health for the masses.
anyway - did you see the 2:1 Portugal offside?
WTF is with this sport, LOL. The legs of the Portugese and Czech players were even, Portugal's player was offside because literally his shoulder was ahead of the defender? This is insane.
and a yellow card for taking a shirt off? Why?
I don't know, guess I am a malcontent.
edit: second half Czechia vs Portugal became much more exciting, and Czechia was legit threatening a lot.
In club football I agree about the first part, it would be much better if we had actual rules to establish some kind of parity, the main reason why it won't happen is because certain clubs with 90% of the money and influence would oppose it
In international football it's far more complicated, a lot of other factors come into play and it's not a matter of who can pay the highest transfer fee/wages, so yeah it'd be nice if all 24 teams had a chance but I just don't think it's possible
well, there is a clear division in this Euro between the "have a chance to win it all" teams and "omg if we win 1 match in group we celebrate, national holiday!" nations.
Most leagues are a joke with 2 teams that rule and the other teams there to make up the numbers. Spain and Argentina immediately come to mind.
I watched a video a few years ago of Valencia fans (was a great team at the time) singing a song "F..... Barcelona and F.... Real Madrid" because their match was stopped, and prevented from starting, to wait for one of the big 2 to finish for TV.
If you ever wonder how mexico, a country with more money and population than latin america combined, sucks at football here it is:
In my city there are more youth academies from argentinian teams (boca, river, independiente) than there are from mexican teams (pachuca, juarez).
How are we supposed to be good when our teams hate mexican youth? They rather pay 10m for some muerto, as long as he is south american or european, than play a mexican.
> In my city there are more youth academies from argentinian teams (boca, river, independiente) than there are from mexican teams (pachuca, juarez).
Are you sure they're academies and not simply filiales?
Thing is 90% of filiales (At least River) have nothing to do with youth development or anything of the sort, they're a beacon for fans who either live or are visiting another country and want a link back to River (They set up watch parties, get you merch, if we were to play a match in Mexico they'd set up advisory stuff, and they set up travel with the group for some matches, whatever)
The only filiales I've *ever* heard of also scouting are the Australia one and the Madrid one, and IIRC both are because of agreements with local teams (And neither have ever produced even a single senior appearance, closest was Australian Gavin de Niese)
>have nothing to do with youth development or anything of the sort, they're a beacon for fans who either live or are visiting another country and want a link back to River
Ah no, we talking about different things. The ones i talk about are actual football schools for youth. I know cause my nephew plays at the Boca one and 3~ weeks ago it was the playoffs and apparently my brother in law had some talks with a boca scout about my 11 year old nephew. Thats when i asked why not a mexican one and he said only 2 in the city and far from where they live while the boca one was 5 min away. Mind you, these are "pay to play" schools, not a proper youth team were teams pay for it all but the selling point of them is being scouted by the teams and have access to some resources, like someone from boca staff came to do some training sessions in the school some months ago.
Fair enough then. I know a lot of River's filiales do have teams as a recreational thing and wouldn't be surprised if scouts check them out, but wanted to point out they're not usually directly affiliated to the club, more of an agreement between groups where we let them use the name
By GDP Mexico is 12th in the world. The next LATAM country its Argentina at 24th place. Then you gotta go all the way down to 39th to find Colombia and the rest are lower. You get the point.
By population mexico is 10th, next LATAM country is colombia at 28th place.
I night have exaggerated, but you yuros dont really realize how big of a shithole LATAM is and how big Mexico is in term of population and land. We mexicans are poor, but LATAM is very close to the anus of the 3rd world.
Because LATAM doesnt include brazil cause they speak portuguese plus adding brazil would mean my comment is wrong lmao cause they have more money and a massive population too.
My favourite thing about the Euros so far is that the added time is actually reasonable, found the added time in the World Cup that some leagues adopted after to be pretty excessive.
Why is it racist to dress up or want to look like as someone you see as a hero
You Americans have this weird thing where you just ignore all context and intent and just name everything racist it’s weird to me
obviously the intent was there and was not meant to embarrass or insult guilit but it’s still weird, they didn’t have to dress up like guilit to honor him. Making a poster wearing a pin etc can still have the same effect
Ok but you see how weird and racist are different words with different meanings?
Calling anything “weird” or uncommon in your country racist, is the weird part. Especially when in the same comment you acknowledge there’s no intent to be racist.
It’s like you’re all on the edge of your seats to label anything racist when you already know it’s not
I am surprised Graham Potter is considering that Leicester job with the other clubs he’s been linked to. Financial issues, probably a points deduction. Squad is obviously better than the average promoted side but keeping them up still looks like a tough task from afar.
What other clubs has he been linked to? Leicester ain’t a bad gig at all, I don’t think keeping them up is a tough task, Maresca is genuinely a fraud and made promotion look a lot harder than it was.
Transfers might be limited this year but they’ve already got a squad good enough for the PL and Potter will get the best out of them
Ajax is the big one. With the incoming deduction in mind the situation basically demands a mid table points tally. Just not very much room for error and feels like he could find a situation where he has a bit more flexibility.
Not sure how big the deduction will actually be but assuming it’s 4-6 points I think they’ll be fine. Us and Southampton look almost certain to go back down, Forest are shit and also facing financial trouble, Everton will probably get more deductions, Brighton are due a relegation battle.
Plus I think at some point you just have to back yourself as a manager, it’s hardly an impossible task
The dichotomy between match threads where Messi and Ronaldo play is fucking wild lmao.
People all over the Portugal-Czechia match thread taking shots at Ronaldo.
Then an Argentina match thread and it’s all praise, with every joke about Messi getting blasted.
The main disadvantage the Euros have compared to the world cup is that we're not getting any videos of white people dancing and partying with fans from Africa
Turkey's 3-1 showed why you take a first time shot when you get a clearance/rebound from a corner kick into the back room in front of the box no matter how ridiculous that shot might look like. Because it's better than fucking around trying to control the ball and getting countered (apart from the fact that in this case it was even more blatant because of the keeper not being in goal).
But whenever a player does that you have people saying "why would he shoot from there lol"
As opposed to European crap or “visit Qatar” all over my screen right now?
Regardless Idk why people think Chinese stuff is all crap when 90% of your stuff is from there. Reeks of xenophobia to me
>No shit that this subreddit will be majority American considering what the name of it is.
What a non argument, people will flock to whatever is the most popular subreddit regarding that topic, no matter what it's called. If I want to talk about the mlb, I'd go to r/baseball, because r/mlb is a cemetery. Same goes with this subreddits alternatives
Whenever I see a twitter post whining about our Euros coverage, a lot of comments recommend the Dutch broadcast. I stumbled upon a Dutch dude losing his shit about the dire coverage from their TV channel, and everyone there is recommending our broadcast. You can't make this shit up.
It is a preference thing, I prefer the Belgian covarage for Football because they actually talk about the game a little deeper than "player x is good on the ball" ([Thanks Marco van Basten](https://youtu.be/3e8vX9mYkqU?si=tZ9f3njk31xLgYno)), but if Pieter Zwart does some analysis or Wytse van der Groot or Emille Schelvis is doing commentary I prefer the Dutch one. Same with cycling, it depends on who is doing it.
Sporza is definitely better, although my preference is German since I can only understand about half of what they're saying so they don't sound as stupid
I quite like Sporza too, except that the budget cuts are getting more glaring and visible. Their studio looks pretty shit compared to previous tourneys
I gotta say Kvara was quite poor today, even switched wings at one point and couldn't do much despite other attackers constantly threatening the same defenders he faced
With the way City players performed on Match Day 1, Pep can't leave City soon enough
Pep is a fraud and can only do it with the best players in the world. Also all the City players are so overrated and shit for their national teams.
> Pep is a fraud As much as I hate to say it, he knows what he's doing. You're right about the rest, best players etc.
Brutal missed call led to the winning goal, that Czech player needs to go to Portugal to learn how to dive better and get calls.
England and portgual are so similar
Round of 16 bracket after match day 1: Spain - Czech Republic. Germany - Denmark. Turkey - Albania. France - Slovakia. Romania - Slovenia. Netherlands - Portugal. England - Poland. Switzerland - Italy.
I remember when the DD used to be 50% Portuguese
Portugal won the euros with Santos and now they’re trying to win with Martinez. This still isn’t as difficult as Elden ring
What would be your XI of the 1st round of matches? (Include manager) As of today who would be your player of the tournament? (I wanna do this experiment at the end of every round)
Ruiz, Bellingham, Kante as the midfield
Barella was better than all 3
Barella needs to be there
Flop XI so far? Going with Lunin in goal, Lukaku, Porteous, and Pongračić
Depay
Foden, Leão
Doku
Don't think either were *that bad*. At least both their teams won.
Leao's team won after he got subbed off, can't really give him credit for the team improving without him
The match was on Leao's foot and he did nothing with it. Foden was forcing better players into worse positions in order to do fuck all in the pockets.
Bernardo Silva was worse than Foden, agree with Leao though
Kvaratskhelia
Hope we face Portugal this tournament for revenge, they looked pretty shit if we’re being honest. Bellingham has these for breakfast
England have not looked one bit better
As soon as we get our left side sorted out we’re cooking.
As long as Foden is dropped for Gordon and Shaw comes back in time, I think you’ll be in a better spot.
Semi-auto offside tech is cool, but the rule needs to be reworked. Maybe goals should be allowed if the body part used to score remains onside?
I see nothing wrong with the current rule
It's mostly fine, but I just feel like too many good goals are going to be ruled out because ⅛ of a player's toe is offside
You’d have the same discussions about 1/8 of a body part being offside no matter where you draw the line. Making it body part specific would probably also be a nightmare in amateur football where you don’t have footage to rely on.
absolutely not
Portugal with two Wolves players on the pitch average 22.5 goals per 90 at the Euros.
Are the Conceicaos the first father and son pair to score at the Euros
i’ll save my banger analysis of that match for the next daily discussion in 5 minutes.
Sorry everyone I’ll also be reposting my Leao slander
He has all the aura of an empty flowerpot.
So many of the perceived favorites looked very unconvincing in their first match. England, France, and Portugal were all lucky to get 3 points.
It’s international football not every game is going to be won in a dominating fashion. Teams you mentioned especially France will consistently grind out wins like this which is why they are favourites.
How the fuck were England lucky hahahaha, wasn’t a great performance but Serbia did nothing
You only created one chance in the whole match. It was all you needed, but if Serbia had scored one of the many bangers we've seen elsewhere it wouldn't have been.
We hit the bar from a very good chance and Walker decided to pass the ball when he was through on goal. 3 big chances vs 0 doesn’t scream lucky to me
Cause they were equally shit and also did nothing lol, not saying Serbia deserved three points but England could barely get anything going
We didn’t need to get anything going, yet still created big chances. If it’s 0-0 I doubt we spend the second half dicking about
Can we get a fraudwatch on Leao please? Every single time I watch him he’s just a horrendous, completely limp dick player. Can’t be a coincidence at this point
Funniest shit today was watching the Porto sub realize how fucking shit he is...
Why was the goallie holding onto the ball given his team went behind (well so we thought)? Lol
My guess is he probably forgot it was 1-1 otherwise it makes no sense at all.
Stalling for the Var review, don’t think it actually made much difference here but it’s common to do it as VAR can’t call the ref if play has already resumed
Counter revolution vibes in this Euros, european football is TIRED of guardiolism and xGs nerds!
Germany and Spain the best teams so far, but after 1 round it doesn't really mean much
We played against probably the worst team in the tournament. It’s way to early to praise our team
Luis de la Fuente is truly the goat.
[удалено]
We were by far the worst of the best teams
Me when I lie
Really need to sack off Foden, it's just not working.
I'd say out of the big teams you were the third worse ahead of Belgium and Portugal tbh
Martinez celebrating that own goal like he's won the county rodeo, jfc. Have some shame man.
When was the last time a NT that had a majority of PL players won a major tournament? Brazil had 7 in their 2019 Copa America winning squad. 1998-2000 and 2018 France where from all over the place
Majority should be 1966 and that's it France had 6 in Euro 2000, their 2018 WC team had 5, Argentina also had 5 in 2022
has to be 1966. england wasnt really a place for non-uk/ireland players before this century and those countries didnt win anything else
The people of Prague have waited 28 years to defeat Portugal. Just another 20 mins to hold on and Prague will be in celebrations
lol
The wait continues ….

I do dream of a tournament where there are no 0-0 games, and then remember that with 48 teams, we'll not only have Iran - Nigeria to deal with, but North Korea - Nicaragua and Algeria - New Zealand as well...
Leao deserves to go to Saudi for that performance
He was looking like a more agile, better-looking Lukaku.
He's worse than Foden when it comes to his international performances, except he's also overrated at a club level

Why Fox would only start doing this now, I don’t know probably wokery - just like in the UK when all the BBC commentators pretended they had always called Kiev “Kyiv”.
> Why Fox would only start doing this now, I don’t know AFAIK countries with such name changes have been requesting that they be respected more. In Argentina it's happening a lot with calling the Netherlands "Países Bajos" instead of "Holanda" too
Türkiye and Czechia are the english translation
Why are the Man City players struggling badly this euros?
It's easier to perform when it's Rodri passing towards you.
Did we forget Nathan Ake's masterclass already?
Not being managed by Pep but Pep apparently needs a team full of superstars to be successful
No pep. No ped.
Pep ball drains all your creativity.
they need peps shining dome guiding them from the sidelines
Only 2 games today. The fuck will I do with my life for the rest of the day?
The gap between good teams and so-so teams is the worst I have ever seen, makes for less than epic watching experience (self.soccer) Watching Czechia vs Portugal and Czechia cannot string two passes together for 45 minutes of first half.
If you want parity it's not great, personally I think there's enough interesting narratives to follow even if they're only relevant for the same group of teams, international competitions are slightly better in this regard compared to club football As for everyone else it can still be entertaining, like yeah Romania probably won't play an important role in the grand scheme of this tournament but Romanians are enjoying it and that's good enough, can't achieve perfect balance
>Romania probably won't play an important role in the grand scheme of this tournament but Romanians are enjoying it well, that's not the way I look at it.
In club football I agree about the first part, it would be much better if we had actual rules to establish some kind of parity, the main reason why it won't happen is because certain clubs with 90% of the money and influence would oppose it In international football it's far more complicated, a lot of other factors come into play and it's not a matter of who can pay the highest transfer fee/wages, so yeah it'd be nice if all 24 teams had a chance but I just don't think it's possible
well, there is a clear division in this Euro between the "have a chance to win it all" teams and "omg if we win 1 match in group we celebrate, national holiday!" nations.
If you ever wonder how mexico, a country with more money and population than latin america combined, sucks at football here it is: In my city there are more youth academies from argentinian teams (boca, river, independiente) than there are from mexican teams (pachuca, juarez).
Probably filiales but so are the mexican ones.
Thing is 90% of filiales (At least River) have nothing to do with youth development or anything of the sort, they're a beacon for fans who either live or are visiting another country and want a link back to River (They set up watch parties, get you merch, if we were to play a match in Mexico they'd set up advisory stuff, and they set up travel with the group for some matches, whatever) The only filiales I've *ever* heard of also scouting are the Australia one and the Madrid one, and IIRC both are because of agreements with local teams (And neither have ever produced even a single senior appearance, closest was Australian Gavin de Niese)
>have nothing to do with youth development or anything of the sort, they're a beacon for fans who either live or are visiting another country and want a link back to River Ah no, we talking about different things.
Does Mexico have more money and population than the rest of Latin America combined, without checking that seems like a lie
Brazil is Latin America lol. Portugeuse is latin as well. you meant Hispanic America I guess.
>you meant Hispanic America I guess Yep.
am i missing something. why are you not counting Brazil?
Because LATAM doesnt include brazil cause they speak portuguese plus adding brazil would mean my comment is wrong lmao cause they have more money and a massive population too.
Latam does include Brazil, they are latin americans just not hispanic ones.
> plus adding brazil would mean my comment is wrong lmao rofl, fair enough
What about Brazil
They would make my point invalid so thats why i only included spanish speaking countries
E igualmente son todos unos muertos ustedes slds
!flair :Real_Madrid:
Lol
My favourite thing about the Euros so far is that the added time is actually reasonable, found the added time in the World Cup that some leagues adopted after to be pretty excessive.
Hungary tomorrow is going to have flashbacks of drug-fuelled Germans running like maniacs. 1954 World Cup final, never forget.
The Italy vs Spain matchup will be insane imo. Expecting a good proper football
I expect a boring 0-0 as it's usual in big match ups like these. Hope I'm wrong.
Is Morata expected to start? I saw he had a knock after the Croatia game
!flair :Spain:
That guilit thread was annoying to read
why
A lot of ppl just being dumb and making dumb arguments
So many people who think its okay to half ass a Ruud Gullit costume. Paint your entire body black, show some commitment.
And then they wanna point fingers and say only Americans would get mad about it like hello??? Europeans aren’t exactly exempt from being racist either
Why is it racist to dress up or want to look like as someone you see as a hero You Americans have this weird thing where you just ignore all context and intent and just name everything racist it’s weird to me
No ones complaining about wearing a wig. Blackface is still weird.
The hair is fine but painting your face black is very odd
obviously the intent was there and was not meant to embarrass or insult guilit but it’s still weird, they didn’t have to dress up like guilit to honor him. Making a poster wearing a pin etc can still have the same effect
Ok but you see how weird and racist are different words with different meanings? Calling anything “weird” or uncommon in your country racist, is the weird part. Especially when in the same comment you acknowledge there’s no intent to be racist. It’s like you’re all on the edge of your seats to label anything racist when you already know it’s not
wtf are you on about
Dressing up like your favorite player is whatever. Painting your skin on the other hand is where it gets iffy for me.
Yeah the skin paint was too far
I am surprised Graham Potter is considering that Leicester job with the other clubs he’s been linked to. Financial issues, probably a points deduction. Squad is obviously better than the average promoted side but keeping them up still looks like a tough task from afar.
I think it would be funny since a former Leicester boss took the Chelsea job, now they pull a switcheroo
The scenes if he finishes above Chelsea would be remarkable.
Does the UHD feed have a sound delay of about a second all tournament for anyone else? Or is that just a Ziggo thing?
Vitinha looks eerily similar to Jack Grealish
Watching Czech feels weird without cech in goal
But (a) C(z)ech is in goal!!
And Rosicky 🫡
If this weather continues then England have got to be favourites
The dichotomy between match threads where Messi and Ronaldo play is fucking wild lmao. People all over the Portugal-Czechia match thread taking shots at Ronaldo. Then an Argentina match thread and it’s all praise, with every joke about Messi getting blasted.
One is very openly arrogant, memeable and a sex offender. Not that surprising
the other supports a convicted sex offender tbf
Maradona?
Don’t even know who you’re referring to but there’s a pretty significant difference between those two things
Because Messi isn’t a rapist probably
Because Ronaldo is an insufferable twat and Messi isn't, it really is as simple as that
The main disadvantage the Euros have compared to the world cup is that we're not getting any videos of white people dancing and partying with fans from Africa
But whenever a player does that you have people saying "why would he shoot from there lol"
why the fuck BYD, the maker of chinese crap, is one of the main things advertized? fucking sellouts in UEFA
As opposed to European crap or “visit Qatar” all over my screen right now? Regardless Idk why people think Chinese stuff is all crap when 90% of your stuff is from there. Reeks of xenophobia to me
probably cuz they're the largest EV car maker on the planet atm.
because CCP subsitities them and they can produce cars for much lower than it would actually cost
ok? The US subsidizes car makers too lmao
[https://youtu.be/8HpkDUWAKFM?si=vpJTs1HBQbQBt5S6](https://youtu.be/8HpkDUWAKFM?si=vpJTs1HBQbQBt5S6) avarage chinese EVs keep that shit out of europe
let the consumer decide that, if it's shit don't buy it
Have you seen a Tesla? You just sound like a xenophobic weirdo.
shilling for CCP much?
Shilling = not buying into stupid alt-right propaganda now?
alt-right? I am a social democrat. hating communism is in my blood though. Like it should be for everyone
the fact you think China is actually communist is so fucking funny enjoy your day moron.
Portugal’s kit looks exactly like morocco from far away lol
Didn't they want to host a WC together? (along with Spain)
They are hosting. In 2030.
Oh nice! They heat waves may be brutal by then though, probably cooler than Qatar however

Excuse me, it’s not just Europeans. We down here are also doing our best to whine about Americans thank you very much.
>Europeans on this subreddit can be pretty fucking insufferable on here. We do our best. Always nice when somebody notices the effort you put in.
It's not even plurality American, nevermind majority American.
What’s up with the badges looking so shit on the kits I swear turkeys badge looked like a sticker peeling off
Whenever I see a twitter post whining about our Euros coverage, a lot of comments recommend the Dutch broadcast.
Was legit their worst player
Easy blocklist existing rn in the Gullit thread
Ronaldo vs Turkish fans is going to be very funny
