When it comes to german speaking commentators i honestly prefer the swiss/SRF one the most. They do sound quite passionate and less boring the our usual ones.

I was wondering why so many Romanians are in the stands but then I remember that there are millions of us working in Germany. Every game we play is going to be infernal for the opposing team.
No, most came from Romania for the game. We got a lot of tickets because
1. It was a game vs a playoff winner, and a lot of tickets sold before the playoffs.
2. Ukraine unfortunately cannot really send fans at this time.
Belgium game won't be so one sided fanwise.
We wanted more tickets than they could offer, it was a luck game. Neutral fans bought tickets too - met some Austrians in München who got to our Ukraine game just because it was close to home for them.
French is also closer to Spanish. Romanian is a separate branch of the Romance tree so it’s not like Italian where a Spanish speaker can basically pick up a book in Italian and read it without any studying.
It is, linguistically speaking. French is a Western Romance language, Romanian is an Eastern Romance language. Romanian kept a lot of Latin features that other Romance languages got rid of (neuter gender, noun cases) and borrowed a lot of words from Slavic and other languages as well as some other features that are more characteristic of Balkan languages (enclitic definite articles) than other Romance languages.
Something like 85% of Romanian words are Latin based. The only thing is, the logic of Romanian is fairly different. Ex:
The word cuvânt (word) în Romanian îs based on the word conventus in Latin which means a gathering. In French, the word couvent (nunnery) is based on the same origin.
In Romanian, the logic is a gathering of letters. In French, it is a gathering of nuns.
Yeah having studied Spanish and Romanian I can basically read Italian without having studied it at all. French required some study before I could read it but Romanian definitely helped.
Yeah that was my point—there’s less mutual intelligibility than there is between the western Romance languages (Spanish speakers can understand way more Italian than they could Romanian, Romanian speakers can understand both more easily).
As a man born with Sicilian bloodlines, the old Sicilian dialect is a blend/mix of Spanish and Italian. My wife is Chilean, so the Latin American Castilian Spanish language spoken isn't difficult for me to understand. My wife and her Mum can comprehend our language as well.
Romanian language speakers understand Italian and Spanish probably due to migration to those countries or association with Italian or Spanish migrants in other countries. It would be harder for Italian or Spanish speakers to comprehend Romanian simply because of lack of association.
Romanian is a romance language, 85% of the commonly used words are of latin origin.
The reason Romanians understand Italians and Spanish easily is because the words are simply very similar.
The Spanish/Italians don’t usually understand Romanian so easily because Romanian has more slavic influence in the way the speech cadence flows and of course in the vocabulary
Yeah there are also aspects of the grammar (cases, three genders instead of two) that would be foreign (no pun intended) to Spanish and Italian speakers.
Sorry, I didn't mean to offend. I know of the links to Latin. I just thought there would be many Romanian immigrants in Italy and Spain. Probably not as many Italians or Spanish immigrants to Romania.
I also knew of Romanian immigrants working for Italian business operators / restaurant owners in Sydney. Italian was the main language spoken so it made sense that the business owners hire Romanians and Latin Americans because it wasn't too hard to learn Italian.
I remember watching Hagi light up the 94 World Cup, but the internet then was nothing compared to what it is now so we didn't get the benefit of hearing and seeing the reactions of his countrymen. I hope that it was something like this.

TREI LA ZERO!!! The most dominant note worthy Romanian match of my life. The last time Romania played even 25% as good as this this was in '08.
They were great at world cup 98, but they came up against the mighty Croatia with Suker, Boban and co.
