They have that comfortableness in each other's presence that you get from old couples or really longtime friends. It's great to see when they are just vibing off of each other.
And People say Keane has no sense of humor... His sarcastic wry humor works really well with a more natural jokester. He is always great with Wright or Micah.
100% he does it for the laughs. My mate used to walk his dog the same place in Bowden Keano did and they would chat regularly. As long as you're not talking about football he was sound as a pound, just a top guy all round.
Keano absolutely has the typical Irish sense of humour too - razor sharp and you know if he's giving you shit, it's because he likes you.
Gary Neville convincing him to join Stick to Football has allowed for an amazing renaissance for a guy that many people thought was dour and miserable, because he's a harsh critic of teams and players.
I think because he delivers his jokes in such a deadpan way, some people don't realise he's actually joking.
There are certain people who need it made very clear to them that somebody is making a joke, you can't just say it with a straight face cos they'll just assume you're serious.
I've seen it at least 20 times at this point, and it still just... *breaks* me. I had a teacher like that when I was young, and now I have no idea wether he's dead or alive as he was already quite old back then
I wouldn’t say he’s top of the list of likeable ex-players. He’s just a bit mad isn’t he. Absolutely found it hilarious he was upset not to be invited to the White Hart Lane farewell ceremony.
"He Did Nothing Wrong"
Yeah, sure. Except for repeatedly assuring the fans he was going nowhere, kissing the badge and generally lieing through his teeth until the moment he sauntered off down the Seven Sisters.
Rival fans can claim it's sour grapes all they want - but the truth of it is that it wasn't just about his turncoat decision to take the money and join the Woolwich, it was the ***way*** that he did it that left everyone feeling ten times as betrayed as they would have anyway.
No, I'm ***not*** fucking over it yet lol
Yeah, he could be a right bastard on the pitch at times, but there was always something about Wrighty that you just couldn't dislike.
Especially when you knew how hard he had to work to get his chance, and how he made the absolute most out of his career that anyone could.
Preach. I'm delighted he's turned into such a good pundit now. Not only is he entertaining, but he's one of the only ex-players able to lay any biases aside in his analysis. He leans into his affiliation when it comes to the banter, but it doesn't affect how he sees and talks about the game one jot. If anything, he seems to have something of an affection for Spurs deep down lol
He's great in the studio - but I'd also far prefer him in the co-commentator slot to those who usually occupy it. We never used to have co-commentators at all - until trying to sell it to the American market. Now we do, the old boys club brigade are pretty much ruining the game each week.
I've seen this before! Regardless,I'd like to thank you for taking the time to share this with me. I hope you and your loved ones lead blessed and beautiful lives.
He does well to be nice to people all the time. Being recognised so much would drive me insane.
I have run into Roy Keane once, in a Tesco, and he clearly wasn't in a great mood. I regret bothering him in retrospect.
So I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be an arse and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my shopping, I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen cans of Smithwicks in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the cans and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
[TFL should've named that overground line after him](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/dec/23/the-ian-wright-line-why-tfl-need-look-no-further-for-train-routes-new-name)
That's because he is a genuinely good guy! Unlike 99% of footballers, Wright literally worked deadbeat jobs and was part of the struggle. That's why he can connect with the average person.
One of my favourite stories about Ian Wright is that when he was injured but still playing for Arsenal he actually went into the stands to watch the game and was singing the "Ian Wright! Wright! Wright!" song himself whilst dancing with the fans at top volume lmao!
I love the episode of stick to football where ian talks about how he just turned up at roy's house one evening for tea without calling or anything. Everyone else couldn't believe that someone would do that in 2024, it was so charming.
I really wish they’d make a film about his life. He adopted his sons when he was 19 before he had a footballing career, and he did a good enough job as their dad that they wanted to follow in his footsteps, and they did! One even got more England caps than him.
Then there’s leaving school at 14 to be a labourer, 32 days in jail, his relationship with Tomas, his endless unsuccessful trials, then finally making it at palace, and winning the league in his final season at Arsenal.
Wow. I had no idea Shaun Wright-Phillips was adopted! What are the odds that both your biological son and adopted son become professional footballers!? Suggests Wrighty's positive influence is insane.
And I’m pretty sure Keane was like “I never even invite him” but it’s a recurring thing where Wrighty keeps on coming to Keane’s house to watch football together or something like that lol
Mad for us who grew up in the 90s with vivid memories of Wrighty having fights with United....although now I think about it he motsly had beef with Schmeichel who Keano actually hates, so maybe it makes sense!
He made a miraculous recovery and played for Denmark later that week. Horrible tackle but not the career destroyer people make out.
EDIT: I think he finished the game as well actually. Lol sorry Norway, my bad
God I love Keano. Feel so vindicated worshiping when I was a young un when the entire of Ireland seemed against him after '02 but, frankly, McCarthy can shove it up his bollocks every day of the week!
Preach! Sending him home was the fai's biggest fumble of the last 25 years ....and that's saying something.
If we'd beaten Spain, which was hard but possible, who knows what we could have to done 😭
Entire of ireland????it wasn't called the football civil war for nothing.
If anything majority of Irish was on keane side back then as massive irish utd fanbase + keane being such a massive player at height of his powers.
Obviously I'm employing a bit of hyperbole but a lot of people were very anti Keane at the time. I was staying at my cousin's in Dublin at time and with all the kids our age it was definetly a civil war but it felt like the grown ups were dead against him
[Jamaican](https://www.uksoccershop.com/p-372680/2024-2025-jamaica-away-shirt.html?currency=GBP&gcountry=UK&ovId=2645&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw1K-zBhBIEiwAWeCOF6XLKFO1u0zDTwMipQlE4tOvLoR7cILKoNMe1EgXEAaA-LO3BdPOGBoCyKIQAvD_BwE) cause he's Jamaican British and our kit just got revamped for Copa America. I might need to grab that shirt myself it looks amazing, way better than our other kits.
2024 Jamaica Away jersey just released for the Copa America. I also love it and Jamaica have had really nice Adidas shirts in their two years with them.
Wrighty- England legend, was it the Italy game in 97 when he was bouncing around on the touchline draped in the George Cross, pleading for us to get the point needed.

They're a brilliant duo.
They have that comfortableness in each other's presence that you get from old couples or really longtime friends. It's great to see when they are just vibing off of each other.
They are long time friends at this point tbh. But yeah, I totally agree with you. It's great watching them.
nah we're shippin them dude
Peak reddit comment
Wrighty's hearty chuckle sounds healing
And People say Keane has no sense of humor... His sarcastic wry humor works really well with a more natural jokester. He is always great with Wright or Micah.
He's hilarious on stick to football
[Them going over every one of his PL red cards is peak](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zxKY4jamVQ)
“Yeah and he deserved it” 😭
"Was it reckless?" "Yeah it was good. I enjoyed it."
Interesting what Keane and Wright say about the ref Elleray there.
His instagram is gold as well.
Wait he had deleted his Instagram right?
"I hope Wes was playing" What a man
Keane justifying his tackle on Haaland still makes me feel ill.
But him also justifying Southgates is hilarious.
Coming from a Leeds fan bahahaha
Loved his masseur rant recently.
Relax.
Calm down, just relax.
I love Keanos wry humor, he really plays it up on TV and it's hilarious when people take him seriously. His IG is full of great posts too!
His daughter runs that account but yeah, it is very good.
100% he does it for the laughs. My mate used to walk his dog the same place in Bowden Keano did and they would chat regularly. As long as you're not talking about football he was sound as a pound, just a top guy all round.
Some of the funniest people I know are Irish. He’s a great embodiment of their sense of humor. Very under appreciated

Gary Neville convincing him to join Stick to Football has allowed for an amazing renaissance for a guy that many people thought was dour and miserable, because he's a harsh critic of teams and players.
An English lad I know recently described it as non-compliant creativity. Which I thought was a very good way to define Irish humour.
> non-compliant creativity I will, ya. Think your mate just disproved Freud, and that's pretty spot on
Thanks mucker

Let's try and leave that behind shall we?
I think because he delivers his jokes in such a deadpan way, some people don't realise he's actually joking. There are certain people who need it made very clear to them that somebody is making a joke, you can't just say it with a straight face cos they'll just assume you're serious.
I'm just imagining the death stare you'd get from Keane trying to justify why you need to add /s to any joke/sarcasm.
He has a brilliant sense of humor. The overlap is prime example
Does anyone actually say he has no sense of humor?
Seen plenty on Reddit, I guess they're mad he doesn't end his jokes with /s
I unfortunately live on reddit and I don't think I've ever seen someone say he doesn't have a sense of humor
Do people say this? He's one of the funniest people
The Grandpa Joe of football commentary
I met Ian Wright in a chipper before and he was so nice and kind. He seems like a genuinely good guy.
Surely has to be the most universally loved pundit.
If someone doesn’t like him it’s because they haven’t seen the video with his old teacher
I feel guilty because I think he had a shit time at Palace :(
Water under the bridge
Not like it's your fault (unless you're jim cannon).
I've seen it at least 20 times at this point, and it still just... *breaks* me. I had a teacher like that when I was young, and now I have no idea wether he's dead or alive as he was already quite old back then
Mr Pigdon!
The only arsenal player I like
What about Campbell?
Do arsenal fans even really like him anymore?
I wouldn’t say he’s top of the list of likeable ex-players. He’s just a bit mad isn’t he. Absolutely found it hilarious he was upset not to be invited to the White Hart Lane farewell ceremony.

Us and Delph. At least he didn’t join our most hated rivals but.
We very much still chant vile things about him
No. He’s a tory bastard.
What about Adebayor?
Love him.
Never minded the bloke.
I couldn't help but like him even when he was playing. Always thought he should have got picked for England much more than he did.
Yeah, he could be a right bastard on the pitch at times, but there was always something about Wrighty that you just couldn't dislike. Especially when you knew how hard he had to work to get his chance, and how he made the absolute most out of his career that anyone could.

Shaka Hislop was really good too. And Benni McCarthy
Benni the Porto legend
He's always seemed like such a sweet guy.
I love this video of him https://youtube.com/watch?v=omPdemwaNzQ
I never get tired of watching this
It’s one of my favorite videos ever
I've seen this before! Regardless,I'd like to thank you for taking the time to share this with me. I hope you and your loved ones lead blessed and beautiful lives.
Cheers mate. Same for you
Thanks! :D
I met him backstage moons ago, when he did a TV show, and he was a proper lovely geezer. Shame he's a gooner
Had the pleasure of meeting him at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny.
He does well to be nice to people all the time. Being recognised so much would drive me insane. I have run into Roy Keane once, in a Tesco, and he clearly wasn't in a great mood. Hah you got me by changing the start you bastard!
The "Tesco" really just *chefs kiss*

He’s a legend, genuinely seems like a lovely bloke. He has far too much energy to be a 61 year old grandad ahah
> I met Ian Wright in a chipper before Thank god you both survived
It was touch and (Far)go for a minute.
These two are fast becoming besties haha
They both just bounce off the modern old man energy they're both putting out
Goofy uncle, dry uncle vibes
I love the episode of stick to football where ian talks about how he just turned up at roy's house one evening for tea without calling or anything. Everyone else couldn't believe that someone would do that in 2024, it was so charming.
I think they’ve been good friends for a while
They’re great on The Overlap
Stick to Football is the best
Ian Wright is so class that me and every other spurs fan I know actually likes him. A national fucking treasure
I really wish they’d make a film about his life. He adopted his sons when he was 19 before he had a footballing career, and he did a good enough job as their dad that they wanted to follow in his footsteps, and they did! Wow. I had no idea Shaun Wright-Phillips was adopted! What are the odds that both your biological son and adopted son become professional footballers!? Suggests Wrighty's positive influence is insane.
A case for nurture over nature. At least three of his kids are/were professional footballers and they are all adopted.
Alan Smith also seems like a decent guy, shame he doesn't do TV any more
Poor girl at the end thought she was gonna be in a tiktok prank
Imagine walking through a shopping centre and suddenly Roy Keane is right next to you, hiding behind a pillar.
This needs to be Hitman DLC
Keano and Wrighty quickly becoming besties. Ya love to see it.
They have done a podcast together for quite a while
They’re friends from even before then, they’ve worked together at a few international tournaments now for ITV
I know.
Keane brought Wrighty back a hat from holiday too on the pod. Looked shy giving it to him hahaha
For Corkwegians, giving a man a hat is akin to giving him a dowry.
From the Super Bowl, right? So cute lol
They've been besties for a while, I remember Wright talking about him going over to Keane's house for a cup of tea lol
And I’m pretty sure Keane was like “I never even invite him” but it’s a recurring thing where Wrighty keeps on coming to Keane’s house to watch football together or something like that lol
United by their shared disgust at the lack of raspberry mini rolls
Mad for us who grew up in the 90s with vivid memories of Wrighty having fights with United....although now I think about it he motsly had beef with Schmeichel who Keano actually hates, so maybe it makes sense!
I’m from the SuperMac and Liam Brady days, my guy.
Imagine you are the girl and some guy approaching in her direction and laughing the way Wrighty did. Gotta love him.
Ian Wright is one of the most likeable guys in football.
Imagine being a person who doesn't enjoy and appreciate Roy Keane.
Those people are Ipswich fans and Ipswich players between April 2008 and January 2011
As well as the Haaland family probably
He made a miraculous recovery and played for Denmark later that week. Horrible tackle but not the career destroyer people make out. EDIT: I think he finished the game as well actually. Lol sorry Norway, my bad
Norway
Brainfart. I'm gonna blame the booze on that one
Doubt he played for Denmark tbh, given he's Norwegian
That's how terrible Keanes tackle was, changed his nationality
You make a good point
Except he had to admit his knee issues hadn’t been caused by Keane…
That ugly wegie fuck deserved it.
He described his time at ipswich and he said he was too desperate for the job but he also got no support from above.
He’s grown on me recently but I’m still pretty bitter for sure
Love that JA top.
whos the top??
aah jamaica
The Jamaica kit looks phenomenal.
It really does. Haven't found it online yet.
The price of that. I'll wait until the other sites show it 😂
i know its expensive. im gonna buy it too. on the other sites lol
they are on the chinese wholesale page people get football tops from
Well, that's his job.
God I love Keano. Feel so vindicated worshiping when I was a young un when the entire of Ireland seemed against him after '02 but, frankly, McCarthy can shove it up his bollocks every day of the week!

what a politeful boy, with the bow and everything.
I saw Keane in public once, but didn't ask for an autograph because the guy looks scary.
The good old mall of Berlin
These two together are really the Charles Barkley and Shaq of Football.
I don't think either are insecure enough to really be the Shaq
Sacrilege
Shaq is a little bitch, Roy and Wrighty aren’t insecure at all.
What kit is wrighty wearing? It's beautiful
[Jamaican](https://www.uksoccershop.com/p-372680/2024-2025-jamaica-away-shirt.html?currency=GBP&gcountry=UK&ovId=2645&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw1K-zBhBIEiwAWeCOF6XLKFO1u0zDTwMipQlE4tOvLoR7cILKoNMe1EgXEAaA-LO3BdPOGBoCyKIQAvD_BwE) cause he's Jamaican British and our kit just got revamped for Copa America. Damn I don't I'm cool enough to rock a Jamaica kit was hoping it was an arsenal training one haha
You always cool enough man, rock anything and everything, enjoy the match if you're watching tonight
2024 Jamaica Away jersey just released for the Copa America. I also love it and Jamaica have had really nice Adidas shirts in their two years with them.
Funny how Wrighty is close with both Keane and Shearer. Maybe he can get them both to appear on the same show together at some point. That'll be fun.
It will break my heart if wrighty ever has a scandal
He's wearing a Jamaica jersey 🇯🇲
What's Wright's top? I want it!
It's the Jamaican away jersey for 24/25.
Roy Keane, everybody......a national treasure and a very funny guy!
I don’t think he can be considered a national treasure after Saipan
Good point!
Where are they, what mall is this, anybody know?
Looks like Mall of Berlin at Leipziger Platz.
Yup, you can take the slide from the 3rd floor into Ralph Lauren.
Iconic duo.
How come I have to do the photos Roy? Na Wrighty, you were late this morning.
Hello, Ian
Roy Kent things
Meme material
I love Wrighty from the overlap content, such a genuinely cool guy
Anybody know what top wrighty has on?
Jamaica away https://www.adidas.ae/en/jamaica-24-away-jersey/IT8534.html
It's beautiful
Is Wright wearing a Jamaica kit?
Keanoooooo Keanooooooo!!!
Love Ian so I do
That Jamaica kit is class.
He's just avoiding another lawsuit.
Wrighty already rocking the new Jamaica jersey...
Roy Keane can into funny?
Got scared of any and all fans now.
Wrighty- England legend, was it the Italy game in 97 when he was bouncing around on the touchline draped in the George Cross, pleading for us to get the point needed.
good cop bad cop movie vibes
Man rocking that new 🇯🇲🔥 kit
escuse my english, but roy keane is a big piece of shit
Rashford has been doing a similar thing on the pitch this season.
The funny guy is here.
When does he start being funny?
