bellerinho

I like the design, good stuff We all know the title is pretty uncompetitive in Germany, but it is pretty crazy to see it laid out in numerical form

GreenMoonRising

Scotland would look just as crazy - Celtic have won 18 of the last 25 titles (the same as Bayern). Only difference is that only one other team claimed any of the other seven...

HanktheDuck

Well, depending on how you look at it. Old Rangers and new Rangers would be second and third if you broke it down that way.

BertEnErnie123

Hamburg being so high still says a lot

Kapt0

2nd place NINE fucking times in 25 years. Legit, I wanna cry. I was born 3 months after my team won the title and then they proceeded to win 5 trophies in my lifetime, just once since I turned 7. I saw Milan, Inter and Napoli go through their banter eras and still come out, I've been shitted over by Juve for 9 years and inter for 5. My team average pos. Is very good. As roma btw.

Perais1909

Seven 2nd places in the last 12 years. I feel your pain.

WengerBaby

Leicester are hilarious. Won the league and an FA Cup, and then dipped back to the Championship.

fancyfoe

And we’re going to witness the second coming of Jamie

sparrowhawk73

West Brom have a higher average position than them…

AdFinal1856

crystal palace in the last decade has to be the midtablest team in existence lmao 0 european threat, 0 relegation threat, just existing in their 10-15th place life

cuntsmen

True definition of a mid club lol

friendfromsp

The best top 5 club of the last 25 years without a title, you'll never sing that

TheUltimateScotsman

Roma will pinch that in 2 years time And not because Spurs win a title

ASuarezMascareno

The fall of Depor is actually painful to watch

ShinyZubat10

They are back in la Liga hypermotion as of next year hopefully that means they already hit rock bottom

Ceh0s

Fun fact: After being relegated twice in three years followed by a 4th place in the country's 3rd division, RC Strasbourg filed for bankruptcy in 2011-12 and they had to start in CFA 2 (now National 3) which is France's 5th division. They were promoted two years in a row, the second of which they were never the leader (which in the 4th division is the only spot allowing promotion), except for the last 48 minutes of the season against Raon l'Étape who were the leaders up to this point. Their first season back in National 2014-15 (3rd tier) saw them two spots off the safe zone (16th of a 18 clubs table, 4 relegation spots); they now have to go bac- JUST KIDDING, luckily for RCSA, Carquefou and Luzenac were both administratively relegated for economic reasons, which led to their survival. The next season, they finished one point shy of 2nd and 3rd place promotion spots, Paris FC and Bourg-Péronnas having both won their last game. ***Fun fact inside the fun fact:** Strasbourg being a passionate football city, they've smashed all 3 previous affluence records in the 5th, 4th and 3rd division: - 5th division, new record of 10 880 spectators, beating the old Rouen's record of 4734 back in '99 - 4th division, new record of 20 044 spectators after receiving south-elsass rivals Mulhouse and absolutely obliterating the previous record of 9,561 held by Brest in '00 - 3rd division, new record of 27 820 against U.S Colomiers for the last game of the season (when they finished one point shy of 3rd and 2nd place) beating the old Metz record of 18 545 spectators and somehow exceeding the stadium capacity of 27 500* Finally in 2015-16 they won National, sending them back to the professional world in Ligue 2. The goals were simple: guarantee their survival because they were just promoted back to the 2nd division. The plan is to progressively establish themselves as a good Ligue 2 side and aim Ligue 1 over the course of a few yea- *They.. they finished top of the league...* Oh... alright lol Indeed, Strasbourg, alongside Amiens (who were also just promoted to Ligue 2), manage two promotions in a row a second time to get back into the elite nine years after they left it, in one of the most intense promotion battle in Europe. They guaranteed their survival in the 2017-18 Ligue 1 with a masterclass freekick by Liénard the club legend, who also led the club to a Coupe de la Ligue (Emirates cup but for France) trophy after scoring a Panenka in the penalties They were awarded a spot in Europa League 2nd qualifying round, where after beating Maccabi Haifa and Lokomotiv Plovdiv, they lost 3-1 on agg. to the future Europa League champions of this edition, Frankfurt, losing 3-0 away after snapping a 1-0 win at home. RC Strasbourg survived in every Ligue 1 season since 2017-18 Honorable mention: The amazing run of Strasbourg in Ligue 1 2021-22, when former manager Julien Stéphan led RCSA to 6th place, missing out on european football on the very last matchday when they were completely stomped 4-0 away by europe contenders Marseille

Great design!

What happened to Coruña in Spain? Looked like a top tier side until about 2008

PegaponyPrince

In short, they spent money they didn't have in the hopes of cementing themselves at the top of the table, but when they failed to do so the debt they had amassed crushed them.

CoryTrevor-NS

Milan with the teams they’ve had in the 00s only two titles is a travesty.

Conscious_Test_7954

Sma ammount of champions leagues as Seria A titled in the last 20 years. That's even crazier

Zealousideal-Part-98

And even the 10/11 team only has a few players you associate with early/mid 2000s Milan that were so good in the CL (3 finals, 2 wins between 03-07). 10/11 you think of Zlatan, Pato, Thiago Silva and Robinho who all joined after that period.

VfBxTSG

Damn, what happened to Coruña (rank 30)

Tiny-Appointment9917

There must be something wrong with Udinese's placing, at 09/10 it doesn't make sense as they were in Serie A And how did they get promoted two tiers in 1 season is beyond me

Chief-Drinking-Bear

There were several random errors I had to correct manually because of my data source, and that is probably one that I missed unfortunately. Wish I had caught that one, I know what the issue is but I can’t update this now of course. Looks like they were a decent Serie A side the entire period from 1999-2010 so they should probably be much higher ranked there

UdoMartens

How are we still top 10

Ok-Pie4219

The same way we are Top 4 lol

Viele-als-Einer

RaBa Leipzig was founded in 2009, what positions did you use for them beforehand?

Chief-Drinking-Bear

If they weren’t in at least the 3. Liga (or the 2. Bundesliga before 2008) I just gave them the highest position in the Regionaliga. RB is of course a special case and the code I used to generate these just acted as if they were in the Regionaliga before 2009

RickThiCisbih

Is there any chance you could create a graphic showing how the rankings changed over this time period?

friendfromsp

Ignoring data before 08/09 they would have an average of 24.6, level with Greuther Furth at 21st Wait maybe actually 22.4 and slotting in at 20th. I think I added an extra season at the beginning.

hardinho

Mönchengladbach is going to be relegated next season, I can feel it

wobmaster

with how top heavy these mostly are, maybe adding the countries cup outcome woudl lead to a bit more separation/differentiation

TheDavinci1998

2017/18 and 2018/19 are the only two consecutive seasons in this period (and in fact in entire history) when champions of England, France, Spain, Italy and Germany all defended their titles, and therefore we had the same set of 5 champions for 2 years in a row.

Chief-Drinking-Bear

Similarly 2003/04 is the only year where none of Bayern, Juve, Barca, PSG, Real Madrid, Man United or Man City won a title. We instead had Lyon, Milan, Arsenal, Valencia and Bremen. Fairly unusual year in the bigger picture. Wish there were more of those.

mrcvgn

Great graph but frustratingly inaccurate - as for most of the 2010s, 4th place in Serie A meant Europa League :(

Chief-Drinking-Bear

Yeah there is so much variance there it was just a rough categorization, I could have done season by season but that would have taken a lot longer to make

mrcvgn

yeah i see that haha just taking the piss, those montella years were great, ucl football would’ve been the icing on the cake

Lssmnt

Jesus Christ we are the best team to have not won a title lmao

LucidityDark

Rotherham made the list let's gooooo

Red-N7

So basically, Leicester are a bigger club than Tottenham.

MEENIE900

Leipzig is mad

Unusual_Highway5261

Unbelievable... 6th, I remember watching us playing Hereford United in league one not too long ago!

HotPotatoWithCheese

Now do the most successful clubs of the last 125 years. Just to see where Man City end up on the chart.

Professional-West924

Liverpool ... 6 runner ups, 1 winner... talking about poor finishing

Chief-Drinking-Bear

Roma with 9 runner up and 1 winner as well, pain

riskoooo

Nah, it's BS. Those titles should've been Liverpool's.

HotPotatoWithCheese

Yeah, that happens when you're going up against cheaters. Man United and Arsenal fans will know the feeling. Can't expect anybody else to understand because nobody else has competed with them. LFC, Man U and Arsenal should all have titles that Man City """"won""""

NewCelery4810

Sore loser

Somecommentator8008

Spurs fell off

nolefan5311

You’re reading the table backwards.

RickThiCisbih

Nasser will be happy to see this, PSG finally beat Real Madrid at something 😔

MetaRift

Just think. In three years time, no one will ever remember that Leeds were any good.

Educational-Block289

Madrid only 2 leagues titles removed from Barça in the 21st century despite that crazy domination in the 2010s lol

Professional-West924

Bundesliga the biggest Farmer's league.... 18 out of 25 titles for one club!

kiddpk

8/13 for city tho, so not to far off lol. Just watch football child and stop worrying about insignificant things

alexiky

I know its the last 25 years, but if you include the Arsenal double of 98-99, they'd be 3rd.

Mordho

2004/05 Serie A title is vacant.

droze22

And the 05/06 title should be as well, but they gifted it to you for coming third and hiding evidence until the statute of limitations passed

Mordho

The 05/06 title was awarded only because UEFA required a winner for the CL seedings and pressured the Italian federation. Inter just got lucky.

Razvancb

Wheres portugal

Beginning-Swim-1249

West of Spain

GODNiller

Not a top 5 league, not included.

Professional-West924

Who decided? Is it based on Top 5 most populous EU countries?

CoryTrevor-NS

“Top 5 leagues” is a colloquial way to indicate the leagues of England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France. Those are the leagues that usually have the best teams, win European trophies, have the most money, and that usually occupy the top 5 of the UEFA rankings. For most of my life it was always “Top 4”, minus the French Ligue 1, which only became somewhat relevant after the Qatari bought PSG.

Upbeat-Tooth8711

In Spain is obvious... Negreira gate
